We thoroughly enjoyed the stay, the view of the mountains was excellent, the peaceful nature of Fouriesburg and the spaciousness of BergKaree was definitely worth it. Would definitely come visit again.
We had a great time in Fouriesburg. There are several places to eat where you can sit by a fireplace and chase away the cold.
We were looking for a place where we could safely take our large Rottweiler with us. Bergkaree fully met our expectations. It is an old sandstone house, well appointed on a large fenced plot. Our dog could walk around comfortably and safely. Magda, the liaison person, was extremely nice, friendly and helpful. Our visit there was a good start for 2023.
Einaar went out of her way to make everything easy from the moment we booked until we left.
The only missing element was that there were 2 baths, but no showers. Do people still use baths these days?

Fouriesburg was quite full when I looked for accommodation on Saturday afternoon. Took 1st best accommodation for the night I could find. The place is advertised for R300 per person, but when I had to pay, it was R500. This, together with the cold water leaves a bitter taste in the mouth. If there was hot water, R500 would not have mattered. It's a type of cottage on a large plot. Very tidy with kitchen and just about everything you need. My problem was that the tub's hot water stopped running after a few seconds. The cold water had pressure all the time. Had no desire to bathe in cold water, especially as it was quite cold in Fouriesburg. Sort out the hot water and it will be a reasonable place to stay.
Needs a walk in shower. Baths too high to climb into and nothing to hold on to.
It was a lovely place to stay for a weekend getaway. Everything that was needed was provided.

Everything was clean and tidy. More than enough firewood for the fireplace. All the necessary facilities for a wonderful comfortable weekend stay. Very pleased with the affordability and value for money.
Bergkaree provides old-world farm accommodation. Just what you need to get away from the noisy city. At this place you experience the stories your grandmother use to tell. Authentic wooden floors, spacious rooms make you forget all about the modern struggles and you become nostalgic about the good old days.

We were in Fouriesburg for a wedding and stayed over at Bergkaree for 1 night. The place is spacious and adequate. Would've liked a shower.
Recommendation - nice outdoor chairs and table. Fumigate the house because we had loads of bites.
Wondeful and neat accommodation that makes you miss the days of oil lamps and moths around the candle falme. The fireplace was wondeful!
Lovely old lime stone house in an old worldly town. Takes one back to a time of safety and peace of mind. Area is lovely and you can lose yourself completely in the Drakensberg mountains.
The house was spacious, clean, had everything we needed. The lawn outside was nice and big for the two little boys to play. The fruit trees was a plus.
It wasn't at all like the pictures. The place was creepy and unsafe. I booked the place for my sister who came for my mother's funeral. She is a single mom travelling with her young daughter. She felt unsafe and the bath was dirty. Luckily a good Samaritan came to fetch her and moved her to Mama Fouries Guesthouse! That is a place I'll recommend!
We only slept over on the way to Natal. It was a wise decision and would definitely do it again!

Nice old house with everything you need.
Was a nice house to stay in! Called ahead to see if pillows and duvets had feathers in them and the lady confirmed they were not feather pillows and duvets. We are allergic to feathers and when we got there everything was feathers! Furthermore, the one sink in the bathroom was clogged, and the sink or toilet leaked and the floor between sink and toilet was constantly wet. There was also no pan in the kitchen to cook eggs in. Apart from the few things, we really had a great stay!
For a cheap, comfortable one night overstay it was perfect.
Well, what can you expect for R300 per person per night? It was clean and neat though. It was quite a struggle to find the place. No directions/road signs or anything like that. And there are two buildings on the premises. We had to walk around both of them to find the key.

Nice fireplace with lots of wood and excellent, peaceful atmosphere makes you long for carefree childhood days. Can't wait to visit Bergkaree again. The sandstone building is well looked after and management are certainly wonderful, hospitable people. Excellent place, tidy and definitely worth the price.

We all slept well even though it was -3 outside. It's a lovely, old house with everything you need.
We stayed comfortably but the hot water for the bath was not enough for 6 people. The bathrooms need attention and there are no shower facilities. No lights in the master bedroom and bathroom. Other than that it was comfortable and clean.
Unfortunately, you have to provide for yourself if the power goes out unexpectedly. The house is clean, well equipped, spacious with lovely beds and bedding. If I were to complain about anything it would be that there is no door that closes in the en-suite bathroom.
The house was tidy on the surface, but one gets the impression that deep cleaning is not done regularly.
Bergkaree is very affordable and tidy. Friends and families are welcome to rent the place.

This is a lovely, old farmhouse that is very neat and fully equipped with all amenities. It was delicious; it just brought back a lot of memories for grandma and grandpa.
