Approximately 25 small mammals have been recorded in the region. There are 133 bird species in the region, including the secretary bird, Black harrier, lanner falcon and blue crane.

Very scenic location with a cosy cottage, plenty of game to see and good bird sightings too.
We were welcomed by William who helped us with luggage, and explained everything in Hill Cottage. There was wood for a delicious, efficient fireplace as well as for outdoor braai. Everything in the cottage has been chosen with taste and there is a wonderful library.
Remote, so go well prepared, and very tranquil.
The hospitality of the Masperos, the lovely cottage we stayed in and the tranquillity of the reserve with its diversity of fauna and Karoo flora were a unbelievable experience. If one really wants to experience the beauty of the Karoo, this is the place to stay.

The cottage can accommodate up to 3 guests and contains 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, a kitchen, and a lounge. The bedroom contains 2 single beds that can be made up together. The bathroom contains a shower, a toilet and a washbasin. The kitchenette is equipped with a gas stove and oven, a fridge, kettle, and cutlery and crockery. There is a 2-seater dining table and chairs. The cosy lounge contains an additional single bed, a couch and chair, and a fireplace. Outside the cottage is a lovely firepit boma area with a kettle braai, as well as a farm dam-style swimming pool.
