We had an amazing stay at the Bid Huisie! Fully equipped with everything one requires. Peaceful, it was close to our family that stays in Prince Albert! Lovely place to stay. We will definitely book again!

Beautiful house with exquisite interior. Clean and comfortable. We just couldn't get our Toyota bakkie through the narrow opening at the back of the yard, but the hostess offered that we could park in her own yard for the night. Thank you very much. WiFi would be a welcome addition.
The stay was wonderful and we really enjoyed the town and the house. There are a few aspects that deserve attention though: The heater only has one element that works with a poor connection and the ceiling above the rooms is coming loose. One can't help but notice the loose panels. The wall heaters in the rooms were a lovely bonus. The cottage is well equipped and I would definitely recommend it to family and friends.
The advertised swimming pool was not operational, and we were not advised. On our last night, the direct neighbour's dog was left outside and barked incessantly from midnight till after 2.30 am. We were totally unable to sleep, and they did nothing about it.

You couldn't ask for a more friendly welcome. The cottage is warm and inviting, and everything you need and more is supplied, including comfortable beds and large towels. The town is within walking distance, which is stunning because we went out for supper and felt safe walking there.

Well equipped. Space for car now and we had to park outside on the street. Other than that, no problems. The cottage itself is beautiful and we were able to walk to eat at the hotel.
All that bothers is the access to the parking area. They can easily solve the problem by cutting back (or simply removing) the bushes and moving some of the stones.
All tools and facilities are great. Access for vehicle a bit tricky. Beggars walking onto site were a frustration.
Nice house, clean and cosy. Went to the small market for breakfast (no electricity in the morning) and it was very pleasant.
Very clean, comfortable house. Neat garden. It's a pity that the accommodation is spoiled a bit by beggars who enter the yard and only appear at the back door.
It is a lovely little place. Clean and neat. We were a little disappointed that the pool was out of commission. The splash pool was one of the reasons I chose this place over several others. Load-shedding is with us to stay, I do expect that accommodation should be equipped with at the very least a gas plate and kettle. This place was not equipped with that. I also did not check carefully enough. There is no TV, at the time of the Rugby World Cup that was a bit disappointing but it was my own fault. Luckily we were equipped to make another plan. Other travellers might not be.

Lorna was friendly. Good location. Had everything you need in the kitchen including good plunger coffee, rusks and farm-fresh milk. Loved the colourful outside.
Bid Huisie has everything you need to relax and detox.
Our only negatives were: Both rooms' mattresses need replacing; they are extremely soft and tired and do not offer a good night's sleep at all. They have lost their shape and support. Every turn and movement of you bed partner is 'felt' and one also ends up 'rolling' to the centre of the mattress. They're 'pap'. The shower head also needs replacing; the section where the actual spray/water comes out is loose from the shower head fitting itself, and such a large amount of water 'leaks' out.

The house is comfortably furnished. It's located near the town and very safe.
It was a lovely visit in a very interesting town. Beautiful, neat, nicely furnished house with all the necessary facilities. All that was missing was secure parking. Our vehicle had to park outside in the street because the entrance to the back was too narrow for our vehicle to get through safely. There was 1 pesky hawker who came in to the back and presumably stole an item of clothing from us from the table.

Shelf in bathroom for clothes and toiletry bag would be nice. Grill must be clean. People stand at the gate and call all afternoon. Furthermore very very well equipped and comfortable. Will come again.

The house is well furnished and we had a very nice stay. However, there are a lot of decor items that are terribly dusty and I think the house might just need a good dusting and a wash of curtains. There were pillows in the closets leaving us with no space to unpack our clothes. There is also no space in the bathroom to unpack anything. The air conditioning is a big plus and you can sit on the veranda and have a barbecue. The children also had a great time swimming in the swimming pool which was very clean.
Very nice place with good equipment. We just found it a bit too far to comfortably walk to all the restaurants. There is also only parking for a very narrow car on the premises.

The Bid Huisie is really a special place and we will definitely stay there again. Everything was 100% in place. A nice braai place, sufficient crockery and very clean linen. The only drawback was the narrow path next to the cottage (car had to park in front of the road). Prince Albert is safe, so there were no problems.
House is small and feels very dark. Has very nice decor and our hostess was very friendly. The bathroom is super small and the lighting means that you can hardly see anything in the bathroom. There is no place to put your bag in the rooms. No provision has been made for a place to blow your hair or apply make-up.
We enjoyed our time here and will definitely come again. The airconditioning and swimming pool are bonusses. It's very close to everything and for those people who prefer privacy, this is just the place. You will definitely see us again.
Very nice stay in Bid Huisie. Everything was neat and well equipped. If I can only make a suggestion, lighting was very poor and very dark at night, suggest putting stronger bulbs in the bedside lamps. The outdoor grill was very dirty. It is very centrally located and we could walk nicely, would definitely recommend it.

We spent three lovely days in Prince Albert. Always knowing that we can relax and cool off at Bid Huisie (even if there were problems with the pool). The facilities are good and everything one needs is there. We will certainly recommend the accommodation to others.

We will definitely use the "Bid Huisie" again. It was beautifully furnished, with a delightful atmosphere of country hospitality. Biscuits, fresh milk and coffee and tea were provided. We felt really welcome. Elma made us feel very welcome. The small plunge pool was a bonus and the braai area on the stoep, a lovely place to hang out.
We got more than we hoped for, all we need is a teapot.

Bid Huisie is a must for those who are looking for rural tranquility, but also want to be nice and close to everything in town.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bid Huisie. It was centrally situated although not quite in walking distance to the restaurants in the Main Street. It should maybe be advertised that there is no T.V. in the rooms - although this was not a concern for us as we were there for only 2 nights. We would return as a couple but not with our son as there is only one small bathroom/toilet to share.
We can recommend Bid Huisie (old church) to everyone. Everything was as it should be!
We loved the cottage.Just a few pointers for consideration. The Cottage was very hot - and feel it really should have air-con in the bedrooms. The mosquitoes here are bad! We were there for 2 nights and the last afternoon and the entire last night we had no electricity (while all the neighbours did have). Such a pity because we loved it there and took lots of photos to show our friends!
Can do with a fireplace and more blankets for the cold months. Local beggars quite a nuisance. Otherwise, very enjoyable.

The beautiful, stylish cottage is located on the edge of the village, just off the main street. It is 100% safe.

By far the best accommodation we have ever stayed in!
The accommodation is very comfortable and well equipped, and the rusks were a nice touch. Location is great with the main street close by. Safety was a concern however, especially on Saturday morning when a youngish [+-30] gentleman of dubious character [drunk or on tik] appeared at the open front door. I was forewarned by crunching on the drive, I thought it was my wife returning from her walk and had my back to the open door. The same fellow reappeared in the late afternoon so I once again gave him his marching orders.
We were very well received and immediately felt at home.
Sadly something needs to be done about security as we were disturbed continuously by people strolling up the driveway to beg for money/food and drink. Was very annoying and if I had been on my own with my daughter we would have been forced to sit inside all afternoon. Which would have been a huge pity with the pool and pretty garden!!
I think Bid huisie itself was fantastic, but prior to the arrival date, I phoned and tried to find out where we should pick up keys, which was an impossible task. I was told they will phone me 4 days prior to arrival, which they didn't do, and I phoned them several times after that, and was told the same story. On the same day of arrival, I phoned once again, and was given telephone numbers, and I finally got hold of someone telling me where to collect the keys. I am from KZN, and was really worried about getting hold of the person who had to open for us, until the very last hour. I just think it would be appreciated if guests are told by the owner or manager when calling, where to get keys exactly! Otherwise - had a really great stay here.
