96 guests' feedbackWe were in Paradise.
Was a second visit for me. Will definitely come again, this is the most beautiful place. The cabins are clean, spacious and well equipped.
Very nice environment, especially after the nice rain.
The path up to Chalet No. 1 could have steps and a handrail for people who have difficulty walking. Otherwise, the cottage was very basic but adequate. A comfortable bed is so important and we were grateful for that.
Quiet place to stay in nature.
Nice fresh air. Beautiful place, lovely surroundings, and walking trails. Friendly host.
Stayed for two nights with little children. Many hiking trails with beautiful scenery. Make provision for entertaining the children at night, since WiFi is available at reception and not at cottages.
Road is terrible leading to the guesthouse, other than that it was good to be there.
We had a lovely time at Biedouw Valley Getaway. The area is picturesque and there are many pools to cool off in. The accommodation is reasonable for the price, but the cottages are built a bit close together.
Was good. Had a good stay. Would love to come back!
The road is not sufficient for a normal car and there are lots of insects. The valley is beautiful and perfect for nature lovers.
Lovely neat accommodation.
We had some problems and challenges, which the management was informed about.
It was a peaceful getaway. Beautiful surroundings with several hiking trails and swimming pools. The waterfall is only about 400 meters from the accommodation and definitely worth a visit. The last 2 km to the resort is not in good condition and sedan cars take a big risk to tackle it.
We arrived on a cold, windy afternoon. The signage wasn't great. The equipment was very spartan and cheap. The fry pan was so warped it hardly made contact. The 1 towel each was thin and small. There were no heaters or electric blankets and the douvay was very thin. We did ask and were given a warm blanket the following day. The sliding door had no curtain and overlooked the campsite causing privacy issues. There was no indoor table so, as it was cold we moved the plastic stoep table inside to eat. There were no "extras" to make us feel welcome.
As South Africans, we are far too eager to accept mediocre service. To start, the road to get to the destination is absolutely terrible and not described accurately on the website, I drive an SUV, so how anyone with a normal car is expected to travel there is ridiculous, as mentioned in other reviews by guests. I love the setting but also not described accurately by the website, not all the chalets have a view of the river. But what was the most disturbing is the fact that the Kliphuis where we stayed is not fit for humans to stay, firstly as a host you ensure that the place is clean and everything is in working order, the rooms were dirty, full of cobwebs, the braai was filthy and grids have not been clean in ages, the kettle and toaster were filthy and we had to ask 3 times for kettle only to get a cocky response. We really looked forward to a holiday after working hard for a year and spending time with our kids and Dad. We booked from the 2nd to the 5th Jan 2024 and left after one day of hell, and were not even offered an apology or a slight refund, i know there is a refund policy, but after that horrific experience, I would have thought the host would have some empathy. I have also seen the other reviews now of guests, has this never been addressed? I cannot speak of the other chalets but the Kliphuis is a disgrace, I took pictures as proof. The website I know you are just the agents but you should take heed of what clients are saying about this place. Your webpage also says free wifi, wifi is only available at the office, so you need to walk there for reception. I have travelled and stayed all over, and camped in basic tents, this was my most horrific stay. Asking for the bare basics, like a non-misleading website, and clean working utensils. We left the next day and called Boskloof Swemgat, we stayed there before when we called the host, Gretha, and she was the most accommodating, she was sympathetic and the most wonderful host. Her attention to detail and hosting skills are next level, we had an amazing day as boskloof swemgat, will recommend any day, they know how to treat guests.
Hannelie is very approachable and friendly to deal with.
It is a beautiful part of South Africa.
A gas stove for load shedding and more warm blankets would be appreciated.
No frills but a comfortable bed and hot shower. Kitchen is well equipped.
This place is really fantastic. A break from the busy city. My teenagers really enjoyed it to my surprise. No phones. So peaceful and amazing with mother earth. The mountains and waterfalls were so beautiful and incredibly beautiful. Hope to visit again soon. Warm and friendly welcome from start to finish.
We had a very nice stay. Ideal for if you want to get away from the city. Lots of nice hiking trails and pools to swim in. We will definitely go back again.
The road is bad, but we can see that it is also due to washouts and our 4x4 did the trick. It was nice for us to drive farm roads again and have to open farm gates. The accommodation met our needs, everything was clean and tidy. The cottage is well supplied with kitchenware. Our hostess received and welcomed us kindly. We didn't get to everything to do there, but maybe next time.
The Biedouw Vallei Wegbreek is just a short drive from where the flowers were. Very convenient, although along a fairly rough road. The resort itself is very clean and well-kept. It offers interesting hikes among the Cederberg rocks.
For website: your road directions are too long, especially in Clanwilliam. The road to Pakhuispass runs straight through the town. We were in Chalet 3 and our daughter-they stayed in Chalet 4. Toilet paper at both was scarce, went to get it. Their fan didn't work, and another one went to get it. When I went to get a map for the farm again, I was asked "what's wrong now?". Disturbed me because the mattresses on 3 and 4 double beds were not up to standard. 3's side beam I had to support with brick. 4 used single bed duvets. Furthermore, if sufficient to award 99%. Will want to go again.
The unit where we stayed is very clean and tidy. The route to the waterfall is beautiful. The unit is nice and spacious. Comfortable braai facilities and stoep. I just think it's a bit sparsely furnished. I would like to have a table and chairs where one could sit and eat. It was cold outside and we carried the garden set into the unit to sit and eat.
Mosquitoes (due to a lot of rain) made the stay less pleasant. I would like to spend more time there to discover the surroundings.
Customer service was very good. Kliphuis was very dirty. We were moved to chalets that are clean, nicer and better equipped. Hannelie and team were very helpful. Chalets 1 and 2 are together and Chalets 3 and 4 are together. It works well if there are 2 families. The mattresses in the main bedrooms (of chalets 1, 3 and 4) are done and very uncomfortable. I saw on a previous review it was also mentioned as a problem - it's still a big problem. Many of the adults preferred the bunk beds. The environment is incredibly beautiful! There is no cell phone signal at all (which is a huge plus in my book). There is wifi around the office to quickly send the 'we are safe here' messages.
Very eina furnished. Lounge set with very thin cushions. Not sitable. Bed very hollow. Thin mattress on top of original mattress does not correct problem. Unit 1 access very difficult. Must walk up sloping bank. Difficult for older persons.
This venue is more about ready access to beautiful natural attractions, like the nearby waterfall, hiking trails and rock art, than the warmth and style of the accommodation. While clean and reasonably comfortable, we found our chalet sterile and with little attention to decor or homely touches. There was also no information/hiking trail maps/attraction list file in the chalet which was unacceptable to me.
The main bed wasn't too comfortable and could improve the other adding a aircon, other than that it was a lovely stay.
It was an incredible disappointment. Everything was dirty and filthy, there was one toilet roll that wasn't even new and one small bottle of half-full soap in the bathroom. We added water to get through. Kitchen ─ everything had to be washed first, kettle is strainer, we boiled water in mugs in microwave. We should have stayed until Monday and came back early on Sunday. Couldn't stand it any longer. Just because we drove far, we stayed.
The island in the kitchen is not practical. A table on the veranda, as in other chalets, will help.
How are adults expected to sleep in primitive, hostel-type steel bunk beds? No provision of tea, coffee, sugar, or milk for a cup of something after a long trip. So-called furniture is suitable outdoors but needs to be carried between porch and house. The table and chairs were stained and soiled and not too hygienic looking. The owner/manager was confrontational and unfriendly. The whole experience was a great disappointment. No value for hard-earned money spent. No details in chalet of "what-to-do and where to go". Great potential for improvement.
Nice walking routes and nice swimming pools for the children.
Everything under one roof, comfort, the peace of rest at night, the call in the morning for more relaxation and so much more, you have to be there to experience it, fantastic.
The location is great, the views of the rock formation is out of this world, so much to see here, nice hiking trail, waterfall, card facilities need to be introduced at the establishment, for now, please take sufficient cash with you, but nevertheless, it's a must go.
Would definitely want to go back 2 nights too short and we got there late on our first. I'm actually afraid to tell people about this "hidden gem" maybe a good thing it stays hidden. We had to use the WiFi to communicate with family. The WiFi is slow (which is understandable given the location) - would not put me off visiting again at all. The scenery is exceptional.
We were a group of 5 moms with 6 children below 9yrs old, and we absolutely loved our 3-night stay in this beautiful setting. Our children spent their days canoeing on the dam, catching frogs, swimming in waterfalls and mountain pools and cycling. The undercover braai area is perfect for long, lazy afternoons and the cottages are equipped with all the necessities. The kids loved the bunk beds. Hannelie was very lovely and even took our kids for rides on the 4-wheeler. The night sky makes for perfect stargazing, and all the swimming holes are within short walking distance. We will definitely be back, next time for longer!
Incredible scenery and hiking trails. Will definitely visit again.
First time at Wegbreek and will definitely go back.
Our weekend getaway was unforgettable. Some of our very best Cederberg farms we have ever visited! The setting is absolutely breathtaking. The accommodation is adequate and very neat and clean. Aussie, the cutest dog, accompanied us on our walks in the rocks and showed the way too cutely. Walking paths are very clearly marked. We will definitely be back, next summer, to swim in the rock pools! Thank you very much for the hospitality.
I have visited a few wonderful places in the Cederberg but this settling is absolutely beautiful and tranquil. Its a small campsite not to busy ideal for a break away from the busy city life.
The well kept unit had all the basic things you might need. There is no telephone signal so it allows you completely switch off. Staff is friendly and always so willing to assist - I would definitely recommend this place to friends and family.
Biedouw Valley Getaway is just what our busy city dwellers need to stop and enjoy the lovely nature. Breathtaking mountains and absolute silence.
Friendly reception makes general stay pleasant.
Would love to stay there again. Furniture not very comfortable.
The environment is something that is not seen anywhere else. River with pond, waterfalls and gorge and also potholes, unique rock formations in the mountain and the silence of the location is exceptional.
The reception was good, would appreciate if they put in a swimming pool. Children were afraid of the river to swim in and more fans please. Furthermore, als was very pleasant.
Lovely, relaxed atmosphere where children can play.
No curtain in living room-no privacy. Cushions in living room not clean. We paid for 2 nights but left after first night.
The nature is really very beautiful. Mountains, rocks and water are particularly beautiful. Our unit was really not clean. Cabinets have coker roots in them. The 1 shower was clogged. And dirty. Bedding can be refurbished. Is not child friendly either. Especially not between 1 and 2. And definitely a fan recommended.
The owner just got our stay wrong, and she can work on her receptivity and hospitality.
We stayed 3 nights. Lovely accommodation in a very beautiful part of our country. Totally abandoned and away from society. However, the service left a bitter taste in our mouths: Very unfriendly reception and welcome. Each unit is entitled to 1 free toilet roll regardless of how many guests are in the house, and how long your stay will be. We had to buy extra toilet paper from reception at a price as we are 5 family members and were booked for 3 days. No bins are emptied. Outdoor bins are bursting at the seams and as a result there is a severe influx of flies. Outstanding payments must be brought in cash - as they only accept cash if you are already at the resort.
No air-con or fan, exceptionally hot. Owner's dogs constantly amongst us and upsetting ours.
Dishes were not tidy, double bed springs stick in your back. Fridge was dirty. Definitely not up to standard. The surroundings are fairytale beautiful.
We had an incredible time. The hiking trails and tranquility are really something for the books.
Beautiful landscape and Biedouw Valley Getaway is the perfect place to explore the Cedar Mountains. Als is walking distance, the bushman drawings and the waterfalls are a stone's throw away. Wish we could have stayed longer. Thank you very much.
Biedouw Wegbreek offers a convenient base from which to explore the area.
A great spot to unwind and forget about the rat race for a while. Lovely easy walks with magnificent scenery.
Lovely getaway in the silence of the Sederberge. The environment lends itself to activities such as mountain climbing, hiking, mountain biking and getting quiet in nature. The accommodation is comfortable and well appointed.
Biedouw Vallei is a gem of a place, offers everything for a lovely weekend away with family, children enjoyed swimming hole, waterfall hiking trail. The nature and peaceful atmosphere are food for the soul.
It was heavenly and it's absolutely breathtakingly beautiful and clean and the nature so beautiful. Friendliest owner. Will go there again for sure. Next only for longer and preferably in the summer so kids can swim in the river.
I would recommend you bring something to keep cool at night during the hot season, otherwise all is a paradise.
We experienced the silence and tranquility and appreciated the hidden treasure in nature. Definitely worth going back to.
We stayed in new chalets on site, although it was an old youth site you could tell they were renovating. The chalets were new and tidy and contained everything you need. Had a wonderful time relaxing and barbecuing on the stoep with the silence of no cell phones working.
Clean chalet with all the necessities. If i had a longer stay I would have wanted my own swimming towel and additional blanket.
Lots of adventures to go on whilst there or even just relax in the quietness.
Ideal for hikers, climbers and generally nature and outdoor enthusiasts
The Namaqualand flowers were very beautiful. We drove the special roads in the area which included a visit to Heuningvlei. A must do. Walked some of the shorter walking paths. Amenities are basic, but good and new.
Beautiful wildlife.
The location is breathtakingly beautiful, especially during the flower season. The accommodation was neat and clean. However, one of the showers irrigated the entire bathroom.
The curtains are missing some hooks and it looks untidy. One double bed mattress urgently needs to be replaced. Just a little more attention to detail would make this an excellent stay.
The silence is only broken when you approach the beautiful waterfall. Lovely walking routes on the farm and the friendly dog that accompanies you on your walk without being a burden. The house is clean, the double bed sleeps comfortably and all the basic necessities are there. Only negative: It's difficult to reach Hannelie during the day because no WiFi and the cottage's lounge sofas are a bit old and uncomfortable. Your neighbors are also quite audible through the walls. Would recommend 2x4 cars. It is a beautiful farm with a lot of water deep in the gorge and here you really relax - surrounded by beauty and silence. Hannelie is very friendly and explains all the hiking trails on the farm very well.
Would recommend that they give the WiFi a booster for the upper chalets where there is no WiFi.
The waterfall with the surrounding Cedar Mountains looks breathtakingly beautiful.
Beautiful resort with a lot of potential in Biedouw Valley which is close to beautiful natural flowers in the area. Road that provides access to amenities needs attention and can be challenging for sedan cars. Unit 3 was clean but sparsely furnished for price of unit. Delicious outdoor barbecue. Secure parking. Privacy is violated by proximity to other users utilizing ablution and camping. Unit well equipped for self-catering, but certain items came up short and need replacement. Received friendly reception and helpfulness from management (Hannelie). Area offers beautiful walking routes from resort. Bed/mattress needs to be replaced. Quality bedding in use. Expected more from unit for the price I paid for it, relative to other similar units that have been visited at other resorts.
Double bed needs to be replaced soon in chalet 2, not worth the price to sleep on such a bed, but slept on single bed. A good fan will help for hot days.
The residential unit was still in the process of restoration. Floors were not finished tiling, there is a broken wardrobe in the room, faulty light switches, toilet that does not flush properly, leaking toilet drain. The management did apologize, but we feel the price for this unit is hopelessly overpriced.
Crockery and cutlery were dirty, had to wash everything before we could use it. Fridge and kettle broken. Noisy neighbors. When we left one day earlier, owner said she was worried about the many people next to us, but she didn't do anything about it. We went for tranquility and only experienced noise. Too bad, because it's actually very beautiful there.
If you need a break away from the busy city life, I would recommend Biedouw, I enjoyed my stay, the host was very friendly and helpful. Peace and quiet place. The most breathtaking place.
Thank you very much for the 3 of you wonderful hospitality and service! Would stay there forever!!!!! Just one thing for the future maybe just a new double bed. The environment is particularly beautiful and once again the service excellent and spotless!!!
See stars.
Very friendly hostess and the flowers cannot be described. It was so beautiful
Wonderful service when we arrived. Stayed in the 4 - room chalet. Simple and clean like mountaineers cottage. The surroundings are spectacular with various hikes, panoramic views, bird life and waterfall canyon.
Hannelie received us very kindly and generously. We had a great time in the clean and tidy chalet. We especially enjoyed the porch with the birds that came to visit us! It was the ideal base from which to explore the beautiful Biedouw Valley. We will definitely come and stay here again!
Very nice walk around the resort. Nature is really very special. Our puppy also had a great time and made good friends with the resident dogs. Hannelie was very helpful. The chalet was very neatly and comfortably furnished.
Very pleasant hostess, extremely helpful. Good knowledge of environment. Accommodation was very clean and good value for money for self catering. We really felt at home.
I was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful location of the getaway. There are lovely walking routes with beautiful views and scenes. Great place to sleep and accessible braai facilities.
Lovely stay in the picturesque Sederberge. We can recommend it over and over again. A piece of paradise.
Nature incredibly beautiful, many birds.
Easy walking route options
Quiet break to recharge your batteries. Beautiful scenery with walking paths, whirlpools and waterfalls. Close to Wupperthal and other attractions, would definitely go there again.
It was sweltering hot, but still we had a great time. Take a fan with you.
Get email telling us that there is ice and wood, we should not worry, ask for ice, get 1 tiny package between 6 adults and 5 children. Beds feel like you are driving on the sea. Pools not accessible to everyone. We booked for 4 nights only stayed 1 night and then just drove on. Definitely not worth it.
