13 guests' feedbackThere might only be a pharmacy even if they only stock basic things. Farmer who freezes and sells his meat. We had to drive to Heidelberg for pharmacy and meat.
Stayed for four nights and it was absolutely wonderful. Had I known I would have enjoyed it so much, I would have booked at least a week, lol.
We had a great time in Big Cob Chalets. The rooms, kitchen and bathroom are nice and spacious. It is a bit dark but our hostess took care of extra lights, as well as provision for loadshedding. The WiFi and DStv are a nice bonus.
Enjoyed the stay. Everything required for comfortable cooking and living available. DSTV and WiFi included. Beds comfortable. Linen and extra blankets available.
We will definitely visit Big Cob Chalets again in the near future!
The owner was difficult because I transferred the balance of the reservation to the website. She claims that we packed one of her ugly beige towels, each bed she had one or 2 towels. My daughter put hers in a cupboard and didn't even use them. She wants me to find the towel and send it back or pay R400 for something that probably costs less than R200 at MRP and which we didn't take. I went to buy glasses for our use because there were only 3 in the kitchen cupboard. Just before driving, we found extra glasses in a closet in the living room, no instructions where to find them. Only 1 bathroom without a separate toilet in a house where 5 or 6 people can spend the night is extremely inconvenient. Green anti-theft/ security gates are not. Much better other accommodation in Witsand with friendlier landlords. Almost forgot, she was furious that we hadn't done the last morning's dishes and that we hadn't made the beds. Surely they service the place and wash bed linen and clean. It makes me wonder if we slept on other people's old linens.
If you are travelling on a budget and you don't want a sea view, then Big Cob is perfect. Janet Uys (the owner) kept me informed all the way.
Really well appointed, spacious, very comfortable and very peaceful and private. We had a nice barbecue with everything needed for barbecue and potjie food. This is a very good place for anglers who want to use it as a base.
If the price is right, one can easily go there again. The big trees create a fantastic atmosphere and give a lot of privacy. However, the porch/braai area is not sufficient for more than probably 3 people.
Janet stopped by after our arrival. Very friendly and assured that we could contact her if there were any queries. House is very comfortable and tidy and furniture in very good condition. Very nice stay and would recommend.
It's a very comfortable place near the sea. Everything you might need is there.
I have been coming to Witsand for 34 years and it was one of the nicest places I have ever stayed.
Very nice and neat home! Enough play area for the kids outside. Would recommend it to everyone and stay there again soon.
