We had a great stay, the house is spacious and contains more than we expected. It is nice and quiet and the veranda with the braai is large. We will definitely return!

It was a lovely weekend.
The location is fantastic. It overlooks vineyards and mountains and the scenery is breathtaking. The unit was very clean and had everything we could need. There is a lovely barbecue area which was nicely sheltered and we could sit outside until late. We recommend it and will definitely stay there again.
It's a must-try for those that want to go away and spend some time in the Fynbos.

What started as a great experience ended in not such a great stay. People arrive at 01:45 in the morning. Banging on the door because they stay in number 9 our unit. Then making phone calls at the carport right next to unit 9’s bedroom. Slamming car doors laughing, talking loudly, this continues until almost 3 this morning. So not a pleasant stay at all, especially looking at the rules of the establishment.

The units are very well furnished. The location between Tulbagh and Ceres is very convenient. The late afternoon view is something to appreciate. I would suggest you bring your own wood. The wood we got was very wet. We had a miscommunication with our booking, in that we did not get the unit we asked for. The unit we did get still exceeded our expectations.
Big Sky Cottages are perfect for those who long to disconnect from the hustle and bustle. We were welcomed with a lovely bottle of wine and a little message to make us feel even more at home! I know we're going through tough times right now, but if I pay so much money a night, there must be at least decent coffee to drink. As if the Nescafe classic bags were not bad enough, there were only 2 for the whole weekend, meaning my wife and I didn't have the second morning coffee. Come on people, put a small plastic tray out there with Jacobs coffee and raise the price if you really need to.
We had the most relaxing stay. The cottages are nice and cosy with everything you might need. The view really is breathtaking! The staff went out of their way to accommodate every special request we had. Overall a great experience, we will definitely be back.
The view from the cottages is what attracted us and it did not disappoint, in fact it blew us away! The drive from Cape Town is a quick 1 hour 20 minutes and the farm was easy to find. The owners provides everything in the cottage that you would normally have in your own home, which we find is much more than most other places as they provide only the necessary. For example: wide range of pots and pans, basting brushes, colander, great bathroom amenities, high quality linen and towels, honesty jar system promoting goods made by local producers, well researched information folder on the area's attractions and great information about the use of the facilities in the cottage. The décor is very tastefully done and the extra thought put into facilities like the change room at the pool boma where games, books, a fridge and loungers with cushions are provided was an additional treat. The owners Willie and Nelia were hosting the guests at the boma on New Year's eve and they are delightful and friendly. Their direct communication with guests is speedy and efficient whether it is via phone, text or e-mail. We would highly recommend this tranquil farm as a great getaway for couples and families alike, we will most certainly be back!

Als was perfect. Just a pity we were not received by our agent. Usually if we were welcomed by our agents. It makes you feel more welcome.
Already at the turn off from the R43 you feel reassured about the security measures. A code sent to you in advance opens a sliding gate. A further code gets you your cottage key. Everything well thought out, with clear communication by email beforehand and clear instructions posted everywhere. Even the advice to pack the bump in first gear! Modern cottages, well laid out, very clean. A good range of kitchen appliances, all spotless on arrival. A small microwave that works, complemented by a table top oven and a magnetic hob (and of course pots and pans you can use on it). Beautiful view of the valley when you look out through the door in the morning between your toes - you just want to lie down and look! The solar heater on the roof does its job and we had a nice hot shower. There are a variety of goodies for sale, all on an honesty basis. The chilli sauce from Hillbilly Farm and a jar of honey with nuts in it are winners! The barbecue area was clean, as was the barbecue grill. Where I usually grill on my own little grill, this time I used the provided grill on the provided wood, which I bought with a donation to the honesty pot. The pool area is a gem, with plenty of entertainment for young and old if you need it. Our only miss was that we never met our host/hostess - everything works automatically!
Can recommend Big Sky Cottages if you are looking for a break from the city. Lovely sunsets. Cottages are neat and makes you feel at home.
