Stay was worth it.
We had a wonderful stay and rested in the Bigfoot house. The air conditioning in every room was a bonus with the current heat wave we are experiencing.
The unit was nice and clean and the rooms are nice and tidy. The pool was clean and the UPS was a big plus during load shedding.
It was delicious! We were able to relax with many animals that came to visit. The house is spacious and exceeded all our expectations!

The breakaway week we had at Bigfoot 248 Mabalingwe was excellent. Our unit was very clean and tidy and well equipped. The owner, Berlena, informed us in advance that we would experience load shedding, but the unit had a gas stove and solar lighting so at least we could boil hot water for our 5 month old baby girl for her bottle, make food and ' could enjoy a nice cup of coffee. Mabalingwe's staff and rangers are very pleasant people and we particularly enjoyed the "Predator Park". Their dedication and care is clearly visible. Many thanks to everyone who made our week so special and special. It was our first break with our baby girl and we will always remember that Bigfoot 248 and Mabalingwe are a very special place to come and relax in nature.
We are definitely coming back, we couldn't stop taking pictures. The animals around the place in the morning and afternoon. It was the best home away from home.

We had a great stay at Bigfoot 248. The unit is well equipped, very nice facilities and has everything you need. Braai area is cozy and the gas stove that helps for load shedding. Space for children to play. Walking distance from the cafe and public recreation area. Frequently visited by different animals.

The accommodation is within convenient walking distance of the small shop and recreation area with facilities to keep children occupied. Was a lovely weekend. As a bonus on a Safari ride, we saw 4 rhinos rolling around in the mud and a herd of elephants came to greet us.

The unit is very neat and well equipped, and perfectly located, so we were able to relax and visit. The cleaner, Nkele, spoiled us by coming to clean the unit every day with a smile, and the handyman, John, helped us immediately when we needed help with the water pressure and shower. He also ensured that the pool was clean and tidy during our stay.

We picked up that the wooden sliding door is breaking on one side. Also, the code for the key safe that was given is incorrect. The only thing we can suggest is a gas braai under cover as if it rains or in our case the wind came up badly one cannot braai and also there was not 1 torch and bearing in mind we have loadshedding we feel there could've been a plan made to accommodate during this.
Loadshedding bothers, although gas stove etc, no alternative power source for TVs etc.
Just a suggestion - 1 pan is not enough if you are making breakfast for 6 people. Maybe get lounge chairs next to the pool for summer.
The biggest disappointment was the air conditioning in one of the rooms that didn't work. This made it very uncomfortable during a heat wave. We let the owner know, but nothing was done about it. There are also not complete sets of six of certain items, e.g. chair cushions, glass plates (there were plastic plates) etc. and the wooden sliding doors are also breaking. We really enjoyed the private pool and animals.
Place was clean and tidy and perfectly located near everything. The animals that came to visit the house were a treat, especially the elephants on Christmas Day! Can definitely recommend Bigfoot 248 Mabalingwe and will stay there again soon myself.

Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, the house is very well equipped, the air conditioners in the bottom bedrooms were fantastic for a winter stay, it wasn't freezing at night. I do wish I had known when booking that while there are 3 TV's, there is only one decoder, so all three TV's play the same thing at the same time, but this was really minor. Had fantastic animal sightings from the unit. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, will definitely book here again in the future.

The house is stunning and the surroundings were beautiful. The owner might just have a look at the aircon filters that need to be cleaned, the one room on the ground floor aircon is leaking inside against the wall.

Bigfoot@248 is a nice unit. It is close to the shop and play area for children. The house is neat and clean. We saw a variety of animals and birds from the porch.
The swimming pool and boma were a great treat and the elephants that came to visit our porch is something we will never forget. Will definitely be back again.

Comfortable place for a family of 4. Many animals visited the unit and we were lucky to see elephants as well. The unit is walking distance from the play area. The kitchen utensils are a bit dirty and need attention. Although daily cleaning services are advertised, the unit was not cleaned daily, or the lady only cleaned the front. Will visit Bigfoot again.
We had a wonderful 4 days at Bigfoot 248. The bedrooms are spacious and each room has its own bathroom which is great if you have a teenage daughter. The animals just come to visit you on the stoep and the small pool was very nice to play in and cool off. The small shop, tennis courts and communal swimming pool were within walking distance. There is a lot to do and see in Mabalingwe!
At first startled by how close the wildlife gets to you but once you are comfortable with it a wonderful experience. Just keep the windows very well closed when you are not there and don't be alarmed if the elephants or a few Nyalas might come and have a barbecue.
Enjoyed it a lot and especially with animals that just come to visit on your doorstep it was pleasant.

The house meets everything you need to stay comfortably. Cleaning service every day. Many animals around the house that come to say hello and the elephants that graze around the boma in the evening while you are barbecuing were a highlight.

Had a great time, house has nice spacious and modern rooms. Was only without power all day Saturday until late evening, but was able to do things in Mabalingwe. Two of the rooms' bed linens were dirty and we changed them ourselves with things in the closet.

House was not cleaned on arrival, apparently they didn't know we were coming. The master bedroom's aircon does not work. Previous people left braai pans and everything like that in the forest. No sheets and bath towels were provided as stated.

Suggestions there is no covered braai. Saturday night we had loadshedding and rain and couldn't barbecue, it was really a problem and it's not like we paid little for the unit. There was also no peeler and the knives for cutting fruit and vegetables need to be replaced, they are blunt.
Very neat and newly refurbished. We had a water issue and it was repaired within an hour after reporting it to the owner.
The stay was great, just the shower wasn't working properly especially the big shower of the main bedroom. And we were looking forward to using it. Now we had to either go upstairs or in the room to take a bath, and hot water ran out pretty fast.
Upon arrival the aircon in one of the rooms was broken and remote missing. Toilet was broken and could not flush. DStv was turned off and the remote was missing. Umbrella for the patio was missing. The owner's contact number does not work, could not get hold of her to report the issues.
This is truly a fantastic home that can accommodate many people. Owner is helpful and quick to respond to emails. We found it to be good value for money. The house is nicely and neatly looked after and there is a really nice boma area to braai in the evenings. Nicely close to the pools and activities.
Mabalingwe 248 Elephant Lodge is the perfect accommodation for any family. The rooms are stylish, spacious and equipped with all the commodities one needs. Especially the boma is a bonus. It is wonderful to barbecue there in the evenings. Furthermore, the owners are friendly and very helpful. The area has a peaceful atmosphere that is often visited by warthogs and nyalas. The main pool area is within walking distance, and has plenty of daily activities to keep everyone busy. It is definitely very good value for money! I would definitely recommend this accommodation; it was truly a vacation that I will never forget!

I really can't mention anything negative about this beautiful place! We enjoyed it so much. There is plenty of everything and the kitchen is beautifully redone. The boma is a winner!
Comfortable home that meets all needs. Very nice boma where you can relax until late at night next to a bushveld fire. Neat bedrooms and bathrooms and very well equipped kitchen. The whole family left there with difficulty and returned home. Will definitely go again.

Our family was at Mabalingwe 148 Elephant Lodge for Easter weekend. It was absolutely wonderful. Everything you need is in the house, everything is clean and working. We really enjoyed it and will definitely be back. The house's location is ideal, close to the pool.

If I had to find fault I would say the only criticism I have is that it was a bit dirty under and inside the sofas. The dishcloths were also dirty and the cleaning lady did not empty all the bins. The upstairs room's faucets need TLC. Otherwise great accommodation!
Had a great stay and used the lapa thoroughly. The salt lick meant that many animals came to us, nyalas, kudus, etc. However, the warthogs were very troublesome and we had to protect the small children the whole time after one of them tried to bite a child.

I would recommend this unit to anyone. We were a group of friends along with 3 primary school children. We enjoyed the luxury and location as it is not too far from the pool and other facilities. The owner Bronwyn went the extra mile to fulfil our requests and even left an extra something for us in the unit before we arrived. We want to go there every year now, so will see you again soon.

We had a lovely weekend. The layout of the unit worked well for us. It is well equipped and met most of our needs. The visit in the lapa around the fire was very special. The timid kudus that came to look for the salt lick near the lapa made you feel close to nature. It was good to be back in the woods.

It is a wonderful house with a lot of potential in a lovely environment. The house however needs a lot of maintenance attention, i.e. the light at the Lapa that is not working together with other lights that the owners are aware of. The air-con in the bedroom on the left is freezing up and throwing out ice. The tap in the kitchen is stripped. A lot of the tiles are cracked. There were only 3 teaspoons in the cutlery drawer. The owners are aware of most of the problems (Thank you for the wine!) The owners are also very friendly and helpful and responded promptly to our inquiries during the weekend.
