Very comfortable place to stay. A walk away from the centre of town and hiking trails. Enjoyed the fireplace and electric blankets in every single room.
Nice house. Clean, tidy, very nicely furnished and decorated. Everything you need is there. For the Gautenians, the house is fenced, with burglar bars and an alarm. It is an easy walking distance from the Clarins Square with all the shops and restaurants. There is a TV, but the sound is a bit bad. We played board games so it didn't bother us. There is a washing machine, tumble dryer and a dishwasher. There is a yard where children can play. The place has stairs. Two bedrooms downstairs and a loft with 2 single beds. The beds have electric blankets. And one bathroom has a bath and the other has a shower. The hostess was very helpful and responded quickly to our questions. We had a little trouble getting to the place because it's not on Google Maps, but it wasn't too bad. It is on the corner of Roos- and Naudestraat. We will definitely use the house again. I can highly recommend it.

Birch Cottage is perfectly situated for exploring Clarens on foot, we literally walked everywhere. Clean and tidy with everything you need. We had a really nice stay and will definitely visit again.

The check-in and check-out were simple. The host was lovely and explained everything clearly. I like the idea of being able to arm an alarm when going out. The house was clean and had everything you needed to stay comfortably. We loved the big garden for the teenagers to kick a ball around and enjoy the braai area separate from the balcony. The balcony area was set up beautifully and comfortably where we spent most of our time at home. The only recommendation I would suggest is in the frame where all the info is, perhaps look at putting the load shedding zone and the WiFi code (although the WiFi code was given to us, I had switched my phone off when we arrived). We had a wonderful time and will be back at Birch Cottage.

We had such a lovely stay this weekend at the Birch Cottage. It was a really cool spot. We loved the lounge and fireplace, especially on Saturday night as it was freezing cold. It was clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated. It was also perfectly located so close to town. The check-in and out with Lucy was also seamless. I can highly recommend this stay.

There really is nothing we could find fault with at Birch Cottage, the owners have really thought of everything. It is first-class hospitality that makes you feel so at home, but at the same time everything is "spotless" and beautifully furnished. The location is unbeatable, walking distance from the "hustle and bustle", but far enough for great privacy and peace. The view from the porch is incredible. We relaxed with the kick-in!

I.V.M. the email requesting feedback. 1. The WiFi's signal was very weak and actually didn't work at all, even though it says WiFi on the description. 2. The DStv was only available for 1 day. It didn't work on Friday or Sunday, even though the description says DStv is there. 3. A grill is needed to grill more. 4. The roof light in one room does not work, although there were lamps. 5. It would be more convenient with a lamp or two in the living room for a more relaxed atmosphere. The lights all work together so very bright or pitch dark. We did have a very nice stay. And thanks to the modern, clean place and view. The washing machine was also convenient. Grateful that they accommodated us with our 2 little bodies. Thank you very much.

Sitting and playing games on the stoep from early to late. Walking distance to town and places to eat and secure parking. Only problem is the water after loadshedding.

Birch Cottage was ideal for our family of 4 adults and 2 small children. We loved the layout of the house, and how close it was to the shops and restaurants, but still quiet and private. The fireplace was great! The house was very well equipped. Also plenty of warm blankets! Maybe just take a gas coffee with you in case of load shedding.

It is walking distance to shops and eateries. The view of the mountain is very beautiful and all the facilities in Birch Cottage are first class. What a wonderful place! It's rare that the photos on the internet are true to life - as the English say this place is "what you see is what you get". The house is spacious and nicely decorated. The rooms are well furnished with fans, heaters, towels, blankets and even a hairdryer in the dressing table drawer. The kitchen is equally well appointed so guests really only need to bring food for their getaway. There is a stove with oven, microwave, kettle and toaster. For coffee lovers there are 2 machines (one big and one small). There is also a full fridge with freezer. Enough crockery and cutlery for 6-8 people. The nicest treat was the dishwasher with a few cubes for the weekend's dishes. The stoep is comfortably furnished with a table and patio benches to enjoy the incredibly beautiful view. I would suggest planning time on the porch when there is no direct sunlight - specifically in the summer it can get uncomfortably hot. There is a visiting area with picnic benches below next to the two braaiers (kettle braai and standing braai). Note that there are stairs outside and inside the house. There are about 8 steps up to the front door and then about 4 more steps down to the bedrooms. There are also stairs to the third loft bedroom. The house is well located and is walking distance from the shops and restaurants, yet far enough to not be disturbed by the noise from there.
Birch Cottage is really a home away from home. It is located a few blocks away from the town square so you are close enough to walk to the shops and restaurants but far enough that the noise doesn't reach. There is a beautiful view when sitting on the stoep. Comfortable outdoor couch and table to relax. At the bottom of the steps is a braai, bench, table and extra chairs. Birch Cottage is beautifully decorated and everything you could need is provided. We loved the little touches - coffee, milk, tusks, dishwasher tablets, sunlight liquid even 2 point plugs in every room. The kitchen is fully equipped with quality stuff. So no need to worry here. Home cooked meals are possible. My family and I fully enjoyed ourselves and would definitely be staying at Birch Cottage next time.

We generally camp because you don't always feel comfortable with cleanliness and hygiene of places, but this was the first place I walked into and felt 100% comfortable because the place is painfully neat and tasteful. Lucy was helpful and friendly and Daleen went out of her way to make us feel at home and welcome. Thank you, our children also say it's the best place they've ever stayed! All necessary amenities are available for a relaxing weekend.

We have a teenager, a primary school daughter and a 4-year-old girl in a wheelchair and everyone had a great time. The cottage is beautifully decorated with durable furniture and cutlery. The location is fantastic as our teenage son could enjoy walking around the town by himself while the rest of us could enjoy board games. Our disabled daughter was absolutely obsessed with the cuddly blankets that were in every room and living area. The stairs weren't too much of a struggle for her because we could carry her into the house, she didn't need to go to the upper room and she could easily crawl down the few steps to the lower rooms by herself . The cutlery is top shelf and the knives are every chef's dream. We can recommend the accommodation with great confidence.

I might only recommend air conditioning as the fans in the roof don't help much when it's very hot in Clarens. I can truly recommend Birch Cottage to everyone.

The town is within walking distance but at the same time the view is great. The cherry on top is that the patio faces east so it is the ideal place to enjoy your first cup of coffee with the sun rising behind the mountains.

Birch Cottage has everything you will need during your break away. It is neatly, stylishly furnished and equipped with all the necessary accessories to make your stay comfortable. It is close to the business center and has an incredibly beautiful view. We also received fantastic customer service from the owner.
The house is beautifully furnished with the best quality furniture, linen, etc. The kitchen is also fully equipped with everything you need for cooking and barbecuing - all the best! Our toddlers had a great time playing on the big lawn!
Everything was very tasteful and the view and tranquility are a big plus. People who cannot climb stairs may need to reconsider as there are stairs at the entrance as well as bedrooms.
The indoor living area is more spacious than expected and kitchen very functional although on the surface small. Guests who, by choice, budget or because of small children, cannot/do not always want to eat out need more kitchen equipment. Definitely more pots and pans and tea/coffee mugs as well as at least a filter coffee maker or more/bigger "plungers". A second oven rack is also needed. The first fireplace fire should be packed, ready to light, with a few extra pieces of wood on arrival. After that I buy wood with love at R100 a day. The fridge was clean but the freezer section had clearly not been defrosted and cleaned in months. Kitchen cupboard next to fridge full of pungent, toxic cleaning products. Instead, place it in your personal locker and leave room for guests' groceries. I had to buy extra toilet paper at R10 per roll in the "village", not acceptable, considering the daily rate. The same goes for the cleaner, the dishwasher soap bars, the fireplace and braai wood: (Penny-Wise-and-Pound foolish). Board games, darts, cards and jigsaw puzzles are always appropriate in a holiday home. Exceptional sunrise and sunset. What an exceptional destination?! Guest toilet or third bathroom essential.
