Comfortable small cottage. Very friendly landlords. They gave us a delicious complimentary breakfast at their restaurant.
The bigger unit is well equipped, but the small unit is not really self catering. Luckily we were two couples and occupied both units. The smaller units utensils are under the basin in the bathroom and you need to do your dishes in the bathroom. Not very nice.
Elsabé and Huck are wonderful hosts. Their kindness and hospitality make you feel right at home from the get go. The Birches cottage is a gem off the beaten track - perfect for a few days’ stay.

Beautiful! Most beautiful scenery. Safe, peaceful atmosphere with cottages fully equipped. The dairy nearby with cows being milked along with the most beautiful scenery was a bonus. It was great.
Birches and Willows was well equipped with everything we needed. We enjoyed the short walking trail with lookout point on the property a lot.
The B&B is in a beautiful part of our country and the view is breathtaking.
We looked for a quiet place to overnight on our way between Clarens (via Lesotho) and PE. Slept two nights in the family unit. Was rainy, so we couldn't fully enjoy the river, but could rest with a book. It's out of town and very private. Nice lawn in front of the unit for kids to play. Nice hideaways for children to explore and trees to climb. The unit is not near the river, but children need supervision so that they do not stray without parents. The unit does not look over the river. It's a short walk down the road. The unit has one bedroom with a large bed and sofa, one full bathroom with shower and bath and a kitchen / living area. The children had a sleeper couch in the living area. Everything was neat and complete for a self-catering accommodation. One thing to keep in mind. There is almost no cellphone or internet reception. However, the town is not far away. We paid a 50% deposit and had to pay the other 50% there. They do not accept credit cards, so cash for the payment. Otherwise, an electronic payment can be made, but without the internet it is a bit difficult.
Would definitely stay here again for a longer time. Value or money!
We only stayed over for one night, but will definitely mak a plan to stay longer next time. The accommodation is spacious and very comfortable, with a well-equipped kitchen, a nice bed and a stoep overlooking the garden. There are walkways and decks to enjoy and explore the beautiful surroundings. A tranquil haven!

We originally booked in the smaller unit, but at my request were given the bigger unit since my son decided to come along at the last minute. This was not a problem. Happiness, the assistent, was friendly throughout and helpful too, and Huck and Elsabe were the prefect host and hostess. Convenient unit, attention to detail and we would definitely stay here again when we're in Underberg.
We were pleasantly surprised by the absolute quality accommodation and the attention to detail. It is truly five star quality. We enjoyed the silence of the surroundings as well as the beautiful gardens on the premises and the beautiful landscape. We were very kindly received and have nothing but compliments for Birches and Willows. We will definitely go back again.
