The house is located in a ravine. It's wonderfully quiet there and we had a great time. James received us kindly and was an excellent host.
Excellent quality beds after a long day on the road. Although Wi-Fi was only available at the main house as indicated in the website description, it worked well when we needed it. So much to do for nature lovers who want to explore the area and everything one needs for a comfortable stay. Nikki and James were great and responsive hosts and we look forward to meeting them in person when we return.
We had a peaceful stay at Black Eagle. The deck and braai area overlooking the valley is stunning. Loved the bright decor and vintage touches. Would love to stay again in future to switch off from city life. Little to no mobile reception.
Away from everything, beautiful surroundings, mountains, rivers, cycling and hiking trails. Great stay.
One has an ambivalent feeling about this place. How does one attach value to the wonderful view from the veranda and the feeling of wonderful seclusion? The king size bed is heavenly. However, the 5mm opening in the floorboards, and in places above the skirting, explained why it felt windy inside. This, together with the small braai and a lot of cutlery which leaves a feeling that it would not have been used anywhere else, intensifies the feeling that you are not getting what you pay for. It so happened that the weather during our visit was particularly bad. The wooden house firmly withstood the stormy winds. Another positive was that the gas implements and solar power worked very well.
Lovely wooden cottage in a beautiful location with a stunning view. The cottage is within easy access of Vanwyksdorp but is located in an area where there is complete peace and quiet.
