30 guests' feedbackBeautiful place with everything needed. a wonderful hostess.
5 stars for you, everything was excellent.
Most beautiful view of the river and silence between the big trees.
Everything you need is in the cottage. Would be great however if the shower worked properly, that was the only letdown.
It is a beautiful place, with the most beautiful view. Terribly nice patio, even though it was winter we still enjoyed it. The farm dogs constantly came to check in and have fun with us.
Had been a very nice break and the tranquility was breathtaking. Nice lawn to hang out on.
A little disappointed we could not go on the water as the kayak had no plugs to keep water out.

We got there, met the lovely dogs. The carp were very cunning in the beginning, but we were able to put their ears on. The bass are just as sneaky, but they also outwitted us twice. Life in and around the river is beautiful. By day 2 you were so calm, nothing could bother you. The staff is friendly. The place is neat. The security aspect is clear and big. Lovely four days.
The location is just what one needs to rest. The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves. And the dog played wonderfully with the hostess's dogs.
We were 2 families of 4 people It was delicious, It is very rustic and the kitchen is a bit small - we took a Cadac with us so we could cook outside. A very nice weekend indeed, especially for the children with the calves as you enter.
There is a rowing boat and kayak, and large lawn and play park for small children. The cattle and sheep come to say hello at the gate every day. Nice fishing and swimming place.
Did not see the owners at all, only a WhatsApp message.
Very good place for summer or winter holiday. Clean and stock with everything you need.
We opted for the main cottage, however it was taken and instead got Die Stal which was much better, because we were closer to the animals. We could hear them when sitting outside, sheep one side, cattle on the other. Even in the midst of winter, the cottage was warm and with the added electric blankets we slept on nice and cosy. All the facilities get a 5 star rating from me. The children loved the dogs and they would come and check up on us every so often. This is a very peaceful and quite place and I would recommend it if you have children. The open spaces, closeness of the animals and the river activities are fantastic. We received a very warm welcome from the friendly staff including the goose that watched over our vehicle for the weekend. Thank you Blue Gum for a wonderful experience and we will visit again soon.
We enjoyed the weekend getaway. It was a relaxing spot with magnificent views and was sad to leave. Will definitively want to visit again.
We had a great time. Nice and cool on the porch and in the house.
We were lovely received. The children moved around and played freely. It was nice and quiet. It was value to my money.
It is very well located with a beautiful view. The cottage is on a farm so just be aware that it comes with all the usual farm sounds and life! Good value for money.
Blue Gum Cottage was tucked away, overlooking the river - just what we were looking for. The cottage was very well equipped with a homely feel. There's not too much space in the kitchen but this made no difference as we spent most of our time outside. We really loved it and look forward to our next visit.
Nice quiet and beautiful. Just a pity the river doesn't run. So fishing was out. But a very cozy time on the stoep in the cool.

The location of the accommodation is excellent, but unfortunately does not make up for the cramped space where 5 people have to move - furniture is everywhere. The outside light did not work. The 1 room door handle was off. The shower only had hot water. The kitchen sink faucet is spinning, it's very loose. There was no egg yolk. The 1 kitchen chair, exactly on which I sat down, was broken. The place rots like bat mess to put it plainly and there is bat droppings everywhere. The separation between us as parents' room and the children's room is pathetic. All sound, no matter how softly you were talking or the kids were listening to music, is heard on our end. It's literally a piece of hardboard that has been painted and the children could see through (along the side) to our room. No privacy. I would say: When renting out your place you have to make sure the building is tidy and that there are no rotten smells. Nor does a kitchen and fireplace room squeeze into one small room that no one can move. Even less do we like dogs in our house, let alone the farm's dogs. Definitely not worth the money.
There were 4 of us in total that went over the weekend. 2 bedrooms with comfy beds and duvets/pillows, a separate bathroom with shower in bath, a kitchen with microwave, mini oven, dining table and all the crockery/cutlery you need. Well thought out and loved the attention to detail. Lounge area with a big built in fire place and day bed and couches. Outside patio with big table and fireplace, enclosed but with brilliant views of the river below. Around us trees, nature, variety of birds, sheep and cows next door, 2 very cute Labradors that checked in on us now and then. And then the river, directly in front of the cabin with a little pathway leading down to it. The place is secluded and private with its own little walk to the river down the embankment. A canoe and paddle ski awaited us which was the most peaceful and beautiful experience paddling out on the quiet river. It was the most relaxing place I've been to in a while and a definite that would like to stay at again and again! Thank you for giving us a slice of heaven for a great price.
If you are looking for tranquility Blue Gum Cottage is for you. It is perfectly situated on the banks of the Breede River and there is a lot to do in the area if you would like to drive around and do things. The host and wife are welcoming and easy going and nothing is too much trouble. The cottage is very compact but clean and the porch is a great place to just sit and read and be peaceful. One can literally just sit there on the shore all day and watch life go by.
The ideal breakaway with friends and family. The patio and kitchen is perfectly equipped for a good time. Rest for the soul.
We had a wonderful stay. Very calm. Unfortunately the river was full of grass and fishing was not possible. Only negative is the shower facilities. Almost no water pressure and difficult to shower.
Tranquility by itself and just the right place to switch off.
Tiny little cottage that contained everything we needed for a comfortable 4 night stay. Very neat and clean - farm dogs are very friendly, but so well-behaved they stay outside. Well maintained cottage and garden area.
