Beds were clean, the shower was properly functional. I would however warn people with large cars that entry into the secure parking through the narrow gate is a challenge.

We had a great stay, it's very neat, clean and beautiful. Our car was parked in a very safe place. Two things that I would like to bring to the owner's attention are: there is no place to put your cup of coffee and plate of biscuits (table). The loose carpet in the room with two single beds is a slip hazard.

Beautiful cottage, great value for money, close to amenities. Only the most minor of niggles - low doorways (typical of Victorian buildings but a surprise to our 6'6" member), and highly polished parquet floors which can catch you by surprise if you're in your socks!

It was exactly what I was looking for.
It was incredibly hot! There is air conditioning in 1 room, 6 of us slept there. I don't expect there to be air conditioning in every room, but a bottle of cold water in the fridge would help or even an ice tray with ice in the freezer would also help. I understand guests broke the ice tray years ago, but really! I left an empty glass bottle of water in the fridge. I hope they keep it for the next person who comes to stay there on a hot day. I will book there again, then I will bring an ice tray. The temperature of the hot water can also be somewhat less, this will definitely save power.
Large rooms, excellent shower and plenty of space to park vehicle securely.
Boer and Brit is a very interesting place to stay with a glimpse into the history of punching. Was pleasantly surprised. My husband ate deliciously from the guavas in the garden.
The historic buildings and small cosies made me think back to how it used to be with horses and carriages.

The unit has no Wi-Fi but offers DSTV packages for viewing. The unit seems to me to be part of a monument and the walls are terribly thick. This makes the unit very soundproof and you can hardly hear the hourly church bell. It was an unforgettable stay.

Our second time at Boer and Brit. Great for an overnight or longer stay. All the facilities we needed. Not able to cook during load shedding but lamps were provided and it wasn't an issue. Comfortable beds. Safe parking behind a locked gate. Check-in was easy. Drinking water was also provided, which was a nice touch.
Clean and tidy accommodation with secure parking.
There is only a microwave, but no microwave bowls or pots and gas stove for cooking. We also had to sit on the bed to eat, because the kitchens are so small and have no table or chairs. There is also no DStv or WiFi and the WiFi makes it difficult for a traveler to work out your morning route.

Beautiful old house, the kitchen door is very low, but we understand it is not something that can be changed, my husband just has to remember to bend down.

For the amount of R650 per unit, it was sufficient for us for the 1 night's overnight stay. Nothing fancy, but clean bed linen and towels are always the most important to me! And everything was clean and tidy! Thank you! A few tips for the future of Boer and Brit and to attract more guests: 1. The unit 2A unfortunately smelled of smoke. Maybe the previous guests ignored the no-smoking rules? 2. Soap in the shower would have been "nice". We didn't take soap with us and just showered with the sink's "liquid aoap". 3. There was no plug for the sink. Inconvenient for face washing etc. 4. Only 2 Ricoffy bags and 1 tea bag were available at the kettle. No "sweetener" for diabetics. So you have to choose whether you drink 1 cup of coffee the night before you go to bed or maybe the next morning? Had I known this in advance, I would have brought my own coffee and sweetener. (Note to self - will remember next time). 5. No Wi-Fi, we also discovered this too late. These days, you just assume that all guest houses at least have WiFi. And we also hit loadshedding from 19:00 to 21:30, then the water pump does not work and therefore no water in taps and toilet. At least there had been a jug of water for the kettle. Remember to take a hot water bottle with you for load shedding times. At least it helps to have a flask of boiling water on hand. 6. There was one small rechargeable lamp for "loadshedding" and although it was plugged in and therefore charged it unfortunately did not work for long, then it was dark again. (Next time we will bring more lamps and flashlights with us!). Yeh!
It's a cute place and is very neat and clean and has everything you need to spend the night. We always welcome a fridge bigger than a bar fridge, so this was a lovely stop and met our needs. Arrangements also work very well and you are kept informed of your booking and of information regarding the place you booked.

Boer and Brit was a definite experience after many hours on the road. Everything was very neat and clean, bedding crisp and the air conditioning in the master bedroom very welcome. Very secure parking under lock and key. Heidi had already made contact via WhatsApp in the early afternoon with the key code for the gates, so there was no problem with arrival. We had everything we needed for an overnight stay and would definitely book there again.
We had a great stay at Boer and Brit's. We felt safe and there was an awful lot of space for just the 2 of us. We made use of the braai facilities and had a great time sitting outside and chatting. We could sleep well without any noise. I would definitely recommend this place to stay for anyone looking to stay overnight in Graaff-Reinet.

Aircon in the room and extra warm blankets as needed. My mother and I slept there. I would stay there again. Secure parking behind a locked gate is provided. One feels very safe.
Only problem, no stove - only a silly hotplate that either burns food or not. Very few pots, it can have 6 guests. So not enough pots to cook food with.

This accomodation was perfect for a one night stay en route. The key was left in a secure postbox. The two security gates however were very difficult to open and after travelling all day, one does not wish to struggle! We did however alert the owner to this. Got more than we expected.
My accommodation had lots of old world charm with a modern twist. I got a big room with a large bathroom and a nice little kitchenette where I could easily prepare a small meal. There is safe, lockable, off-street parking which is a necessity as this is in quite a busy part of the town. As the accommodation was so central, I easily found a restaurant within walking distance of the accommodation. The host had also thoughtfully provided everything I could need and clearly provided directions ahead of check in to access the building.
Good choice for overnight stay. Central and walking distance to the beautiful old church. Everything is well organized, even a pack of ice in the freezer. Just a bit difficult to get all the interior doors unlocked when you get there in the dark.

The forest of keys makes it difficult to find the right key for each lock. A tip is to clearly mark each key with a name tag.

The place was pretty clean but the TV was turned off and what you usually expect from this type of accommodation was not there. Clearly, the accommodation was nicely cleaned but there was no finishing touch. We didn't travel with coffee and tea etc and assumed there would be as it was always provided. We got there in the afternoon after a long drive. No tea for me and only 4 Ricoffy bags with 6 bags of sugar. One usually drinks 2 per cup. When I called that evening they explained to me that tea would only be provided the next morning at 8 o'clock. We drove 10 hours. No shower soap or shampoo but only a bottle that says conditioner. There was less than a quarter in the bottle. We took our own but again it was in short supply in the room. Suggestion is that management checks rooms before guests check in, so that everyone is satisfied.
The position of the accomadation is excellent. We might stay in unit 2B or the other unit no.1 I think. I won't book at 2A again. The kitchenette was really minimal and only suitable for heating precooked plated meals. Beds were comfy and air conditioning a blessing - but especially as a budget traveler I need to be able to prepare my own food instead of having to eat out in expensive restaurants. Also a table or surface in kitchen would be great - the outside courtyard was on top of a rather smelly drain, so not ideal to eat out there.
Had everything one required.
Too many keys, struggled with all the locks. No natural light in the entire unit. We had to go and buy extra coffee to at least drink a cup of coffee in the evening and morning before we left.
Street sleepers came knocking on doors late at night.

From the moment we entered the street, we saw that Boer and Brit is centrally located which awarded us the opportunity to walk to every place we needed to be. Shops are close by, as well as rich cultural monuments. The accommodation lended us a safe, clean and comfortable feel. The unit itself made you feel like you are in a town where the history is rich. The perfect combination of modern and vintage with the original wood flooring and updated open modern bathroom. We were pleasantly impressed and satisfied with the size of the rooms as well as the accessibility. Heidi, the owner, was a big help whenever there was something we needed. She has the perfect tone of kindness and assistance. We definitely appreciated the secure parking at the back, but parking in front on the pavement is seemingly safe as well! I would definitely recommend this peaceful, accessible and comfortable place for anyone to stay at. Worth every penny!

The accommodation is really excellent. Very clean and tidy, and perfect for overnight and even a few days holiday in the town. The parking is the only part of the accommodation that deserves less than 5 stars, as the narrow entrance and exit behind the building is not ideal for a large vehicle or trailer (unit 2a). We also didn't have access from our unit to the parking lot behind the building, which meant we had to walk around the block in the dark to get back to our unit door. Additional lamps/candles may also be useful with loadshedding; but we were very grateful for the battery candle that was in the unit. The walls between unit 2A and 2B are very thin (due to the door separating the units) which meant that our neighbors, who were quite noisy, were slightly disturbing. Maybe consider renting these two units out to groups only.

Boer Brit is a beautiful accommodation unit. Very comfortable and clean.
Accommodation no. 1's rear door lock can be replaced/repaired. On the morning of the 28th when we left there was water, but the geyser spilled a lot of water. There might be something wrong with its pressure valve.

We were pleasantly surprised by the size of the unit. We enjoyed the space and could comfortably hang out in the kitchen or TV room. Safe parking and a barbecue area were also a plus. However, attention must be paid to the plank floor in the TV room. A heavy person may just walk through the planks. Otherwise, we will definitely use you again.

We stayed in a 2 room unit. Had to go through one bedroom to bathroom. No privacy for other guests. TV in master bedroom, only 1 chair and double bed. Outside were only 3 plastic chairs, 1 of which had a broken back. Complimentary tea and coffee is appreciated but only 3 of each.
The house was neatly furnished although it is very old. The floorboards in the living area worried us a bit, but overall it's a comfortable place to stay overnight.
Neat place. Easy to get. Great for families who want to stay there. Bathroom / toilet runs out of kitchen which is a bit nasty. Only SABC 1,2,3 and E-TV available. However, no water available, according to management, they communicated it, but we did not get it. We understand drought and crisis, but the toilet bowl cannot open to refill the toilet. We packed up and drove on to Oudtshoorn. That way we also lose our money. I just feel there could be better provision for water crises. ojo-water tank. After all, it's a big overnight group.
Heidi was very kind to move day on. Mattresses sleep well. The yellowwood floors were broken and a big risk. Only saucepan had a broken lid. Mice run under kitchen door. They make toilet in mason drawer. Dust lies red on kitchen cupboard. Cobwebs on ceilings in all corners of the rooms. Cleaner was there Sunday morning at 08:30 to clean. Place is really not up to standard. Sorry.
To start, it doesn't look the same as on the internet. The windows were broken, the toilet facilities were not right. We will never book with them again.
The cottage is about 100 years old. Beautiful and neatly decorated. Centrally located in the town. The owner is very helpful and friendly. Will definitely recommend this unit for people who need overnight accommodation.
We wanted affordable self-catering accommodation close to the centre of town and Boer and Brit fitted the bill nicely. The cottage was spacious, comfortable, quiet, and had a nice little garden area. Heidi, the owner lives off-site and we were a little concerned about access, but everything went smoothly. There is secure parking at the back of the property and we had no problems with our small Polo, but owners of larger vehicles might find it problematic.
Boer en Brit is a stylish old house that is comfortably furnished and we had a wonderful stay. We were pleasantly spoiled when the staff simply washed our laundry too. Thank you Heidi for all your efforts!
Can stay overnight with a piece of mind.
Beautiful decor in the house with nice big rooms. For the price you can't really complain, it's a good place to lay your head. It's wonderfully located. The door frames are dangerously low for the slightly taller men. The owner requested a few days before our arrival that we pay the rest of the amount due for accommodation in advance by EFT before she will let us know where to pick up the key which I was a bit uneasy about, but at least have the key got and really enjoyed the stay.

A more visible warning can be placed at the low entrance door to the kitchen.
We were four adults and had a great stay. The air conditioning kept the house wonderfully cool and contributed to a pleasant stay.
The house is very neat and clean inside and out. There are a few small things that could be fixed. Floorboards in living room and back room are broken - one could be stepped on and injured (especially in the living room). The front bedroom is not private as it is right by the front door. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people sitting and walking around there and it doesn't always feel safe.
All the doors won't lock properly, no way to cool down, ordinary little fan doesn't work is no match for the heat, safe parking advertised but the little road is almost to small for a vehicle. Gutters not cleaned, consumed by mosquitoes day and night. Nightmare destination.
Shower spills a lot. Sink can be replaced.
Very neat and good value for money. Very good service and would use Boer and Brit again any day.
It was incredible. Great experience, feeling like we are back in the 1900s.
While we only stayed one night at Boer and Brit, it was a lovely establishment to be at, well equipped and very clean. My wife and myself loved the theme, she being English and me Afrikaans (great conversations were had). Will definitely be staying there again when in South Africa.
It was lovely to be completely private. Everything that is needed and very neat and comfortable. There were little things like light bulbs that didn't work and barbecue tools would be welcome. Also a large trash can outside.

Clean and tidy - environment a bit run down. Good value for money. On the first visit no heater and it was cold! The geyser was turned off and we weren't warned to turn it on on arrival - a bit of an unpleasant surprise, although the water was quite acceptably warm after a while.

Nice quiet area and tidy.
Everything was clean and neat and highly recommend this place. The only thing that could be looked at is the shower, the water leaks a bit at the bottom and the mixer did not work well. Otherwise the place is great.

You should do something about the top of the backdoor. The hinges are the wrong way around. And a door between bedrooms would be nice for privacy.
The accommodation isn't bad. The doorframes in some of the rooms are a bit low (like kitchen), I am very tall and if I stand in front of the kitchen's doorframe, my head is hidden. All the information wasn't made available beforehand about the accommodation. No one there to receive you. The keys need to be retrieved from the garage and if I didn't phone the owner, I wouldn't have had this information. Please also note that there are two garages opposite each other, so be sure to ask which one. There is parking behind the unit. Apart from that, the accommodation was sufficient, neat and clean. I would recommend it as an overnight stay, but not longer.
For the night we spent here, the location was perfect. The house is very neat and affordable.
