68 guests' feedbackPerfectly located between the mountains. If you need family time, come stay here. No cell phone signal, so the kids had nothing to do but chat and play cards. Can also go for a nice walk and enjoy nature to the fullest.
Ideal accommodation for people walking the route from Greyton. Would highly recommend that would-be walkers make use of the shopping service and order beer to enjoy after a hard day.
The area is very beautiful, the house has everything you need and we really enjoyed the neat outdoor barbecue area/lapa.
Friendly people, beautiful view and environment where one can find peace of mind.
Excellent stay in a cosy cottage.
We expected rustic accommodation because it is mainly for hikers, but this was a bit offset by the lack of attention to detail on the cleaning side. It was basically clean, except for a build-up of grime in the oven and on the pots and utensils. I had to clean some things before I could use them. The bed had not been moved or swept under for some time. Dust on the eaves beams. Just some small details that can easily be corrected with supervision and attention to detail.
We had a lovely overnight stay. It's a great place for nature lovers. Huge cabins, with lots of beds. Thank you for the complimentary wood, definitely came in handy.
It would be awesome to upgrade with laundry facilities and wifi.
Thanks again to Ruth for all the arrangements and the effort she made to make our stay so comfortable.
Thank you very much for such a special family time, walks in nature, exploring in the mountains, bonfires in the evenings!
Thank you to Ruth for making it extra pleasant for us with her friendly, personal service and meeting all our needs as a family. The 5km walking route to the waterfall was the highlight of our visit to the Galg Accomodation, as well as the nice little fire that was able to smolder. Spacious sleeping place for a large group, we'll see you again soon. Werner and Liza.
It was a very nice, peaceful weekend in the mountains. Ruth Thank you very much for your kindness and hospitality. Place was very neat. Will definitely come again, we enjoyed the pool so much.
The cottage is neglected inside, looks like attention has been paid to the contents a long time ago. Not even a top sheet between blanket and fitted sheet. Bathroom is outside on porch. Not mentioned anywhere in description. Extremely uncomfortable to go out on the porch again and again in cold wind. Price is way too high for the accommodation.
We stayed together as 4 families for Christmas in units 4, 6 and 7. The rooms/living units are ideal for large groups, walking groups, family and friends gatherings. Has everything you need. Is located in the middle of protea flower plantations and has breathtaking views over the valley and mountains.
Beautiful mountain flowers.
However the House no 3 we stayed in needs some attention/upgrade. It was clean, no problem there. There is damp in the walls of the toilet area - mould is toxic to breathe and it is unsightly. The shower does not give a feeling of being a 100% clean. Rubber mats on the shower floor? The outlet was clogged, water could not flow away while showering,
A bit dirty. Great price, so expect basic, but at least clean. Very helpful customer service though.
Wat 'n plesier om elke oggend oor plate proteas uit te kyk wanneer 'n mens oggend koffie sit en drink. Die eenheid het alles wat 'n mens nodig het.
The silence is just what we needed! Every protea and wildflower was like being spoiled with gifts of the heart. The clouds enchanted us every day with a spectacle. Our chats with Barry and Ruth were precious.
The management was very helpful and pleasant when we called them. Thank you very much for the friendly service we received who threw everything into their fight to get the pool up and running.
Lovely place to get away from your busy life. Beautiful scenery with beautiful hikes to walk along. Lots of space for the children to play and very safe. Been there twice and would go again.
The cabins are very "rustic", but there is everything you need after a long day's walk from Greyton. It's actually luxury for hikers accommodation. The mattresses need a little attention and the toilet door in our cabin could not close properly. There is everything one needs for cooking including a two plate stove and microwave. We did miss an electric kettle but it wasn't a big deal. There is a gas geyser, so nice hot water. Ruth buys your food for you for an extra fee and they provide wood for R25 a bag. We had a nice indoor barbecue in the kitchen. However, there was no grill and tongs inside. There were enough blankets against the cold and even hot water bottles. The cabins are primarily hikers' accommodation as you all sleep together in one room. Overall it was very good and we had a nice stay.
Beautiful place, ideal for people who like to walk!
It was really very nice, everything was clean and tidy, there was even a bucket with toys for our 3 year old boy. The natural beauty is something special.
It's not expensive to stay there, but the bedding and pillows were not clean. Kitchen, cutlery all had to be washed before being able to eat. The dirt road is quite a distance. Neighbors next to us made terrible noise until probably 4:00 in the morning. Houses are attached to each other. You could hear everything. It rained and entered the kitchen through an open space in the roof.
We were just women on a break from the city's hustle and bustle and everyday life. Was a wonderful experience. The natural beauty and tranquility did our souls good!
Beautiful hiking trails between mountains! The cottages have everything you need to have a good time. The ideal place to get away from city noise.
The owner, Ruth is an absolute gem. The huts were very comfortable and clean, everything we needed was there. Kids loved the play area and the canvas tents we got were an added bonus to a lovely weekend. The grounds and trails were just what we needed!
Boesmanskloof is a nice place to relax quietly.
With the kick-in, the idea arose that caring people are in charge here. The spacious accommodation was fully equipped. Ruth (owner) made you feel at home from the start and offered you absolute privacy. She clearly still has faith in her fellow man! This is a breath-taking place beyond the reach of cell towers and is extremely suitable for winter (fireplaces) as well as summer (swimming pool, hiking trails and pools)! Can be highly recommended!
We really enjoyed our stay, but unfortunately we had trouble with hot water. Yesterday morning there was no hot water to shower or wash dishes. The previous morning we had the same problem. It was just not nice to sit in the cold without hot water.
The house is perfectly located with a cozy barbecue area that boasts a view that is indescribable. The highlight was the comfortable couch/bed on the porch where we lay with a coffee in hand and watched the sun rise. Ruth was also very helpful with any questions and got back to me quickly.
It is a perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. It's not far, and you also see a lot of breathtaking natural beauty, as well as the nostalgic old-fashioned villages you drive through. The stone houses are cozy and the indoor braai kept the whole house warm. The interesting walking route we took was tough but definitely worth it, you don't see so much natural beauty in one place. It felt like we were on another planet. It was a weekend we will not easily forget.
Was very nice, especially the hospitality and friendliness of the owners Ruth and Barry.
We were kindly received and the nature is unspoilt and breathtaking. The accommodation is small, but what one expects from farm accommodation. However, these cottages were not serviced for occupation by guests. There was a cockroach in the fridge, live and dead fish moths in the bedding and mouse droppings on the beds and in the kitchen, as well as a dead mouse in the bathroom bin. If the cleanliness and care are addressed, it will be a very pleasant experience to spend the night there.
Friendly service and good facilities. Place for adventure.
Nice rustic accommodation in beautiful nature, beautiful day walks.
Admittedly very basic but fine after the long Boesmanklooftrail walk. Ruth and her husband were very helpful, the fridge was full of the groceries we ordered to which they had added a few beers themselves. And the taste after the tiring day, incredibly good!
Guests need to know that the bathroom is outside the house. Not all the houses have indoor fireplaces. They do supply electric blankets and a heater in the room.
Backpackers accommodation - very comfortable and everything you need in the most beautiful, most beautiful environment!
Stunning views, peace and quiet, lovely hikes or to just relax and enjoy Gods creation. It a place where it is so quiet you can hear yourself think. Ruth and Barry are great people. Thank you.
Thank you Ruth and Barry. It was our second time at your place and we enjoy it every time! Wonderful for a family. Breathtaking nature scenes. Will be back!
From the moment we arrived at our accommodation to the moment we left, it was an incredible experience. The smell and sight of Fynbos, the peace, calm and quiet of the mountainous surroundings cannot be described in words. The accommodation is everything we wished for and to top it all there is a gigantic fireplace in the house. Barry and Ruth, the owners, are friendly and very accommodating. Highly recommended, we will be back.
We really enjoyed it, didn't need anything more. Ruth Oosthuizen welcomed us personlly, even though it was very cold. The quiet and natural beauty restored the soul with warmth. Very happy to see that indiginous plants are making a comeback! 10/10! We will definitely call again - next time with friends.
Once again everything was unbelievable fantastic.
Had a lovely week end. Beautiful and peaceful.
Die Galg's thatched cottages are far enough apart to allow unobstructed views and provide privacy. The houses are spacious and well furnished. Hiking trails allow you to explore nature up close. In December, the proteas bloomed beautifully on the farm. The farm, 16km from McGregor, is close enough to drive to town for supplies, but far enough to give the feeling that you are in nature. The swimming pool provides necessary exercise in the summer after a hike. The stars are amazing to behold for the person coming from the city.
Sufficient space to sleep and very convenient. All the necessary facilities. I will definitely recommend that the pillows for the braai lapa be brought inside after use - very dusty. Will definitely recommend it for a getaway. Thank you for the friendly reception.
Loved every minute. The location is ideal for a weekend away with friends.
The houses are not newly furnished, but there is everything you need! The silence is incredible and the surroundings are breathtaking! What an incredible privilege! The proteas and fynbos are beautiful! Everyone should go there! Our little girl played outside all day! Fantastic! Thank you very much!
Thank you very much for the friendly and supportive service Ruth. Ruth spoiled us with a different house from the one that we booked (2), but Cottage 3 suited us better because there were more beds and two loft areas - one upstairs and one downstairs. The only problem was that the blankets and one bed in the upstairs room had roaches. It was quite creepy and made us all a little paranoid about our own bedding and sleep area. The view is breathtaking.
Accommodation on photo and accommodation we stayed in was not the same. Very rustic and beautiful surrounds.
I will definitely use this housing again. Beautiful surroundings surrounded by native plants, fynbos and proteas. Ideal for walkers and people who value silence and nature. Ruth, the owner, took pains to explain to me the shortest route between Greyton and McGregor via text and phone. Service from LekkeSlaap's staff was always effective, friendly and helpful, as well as very prompt. As we reached our destination at night, it was impossible to spot the three small thatched houses from the road. A sign at the turn off would prevent us from reaching the 'backpackers' a little further down the road. This facility is clearly visible in the dark. It would be nice if a clear sign was posted at the turn off road to the cottages.
We enjoyed our time even though we were very far from our destination.
This was undoubtedly the most unpleasant experience in a journey of almost 5000 km during which we used 10 different overnight facilities. It was poorer than the average backpackers accommodation. A person who stayed overnight in one of the white thatched cottages described it as "disgusting". We slept in a stone store. The bathrooms are below standard, the linen - for which you have to pay extra - is poor and the beds are miserable. There is a layer of dust on the fridge. The soap trays in the "shower" are still full of old bars of soap, etc. No powerful. Stay away!
Would have liked a little brighter light in the kitchen. Information on how to obtain the keys would also help. For a first time user, it was quite a coincidence that we saw the key and name on the door. Furthermore, the place was nice and cozy - will definitely come again in the summer.
The location was magnificent, the cottage we stayed in was lovely, the hosts were so thoughtful, there was a little tent with dress up costumes for the children on the stoep which was such fun. We all loved the magnificent pool which had the most awesome view. Highly recommended.

No one wanted to go home and everyone wanted to know when we were going again. The best value for money in my lifetime. A gem that we will visit again and again. The Gallows was a delicious treat!
We had a wonderful stay at their cottages in a very beautiful environment in the middle of the mountains. Suitable for a lot of people and specifically walkers.
I would recommend it with the utmost confidence. If you are looking for rest for your soul and spirit, Boesmanskloof is the place. The environment, the tranquility, the peace - you can't help but shut off from a busy world and feed your soul and spirit.

Beautiful environment with small game.
We were a group of seven friends looking for a quiet place, and it was ideal, thank you very much!
Very nice place! The shower facilities could be renovated.
Wonderful scenery. Nice fireplace. Hot water. Playground for children. Very nice bedding.
A nice "recharge" weekend with the family around the fireplace. Back to basics: facilities clean and simple, children were "obliged" to go for a walk with us, appreciate the natural beauty, put the mobile phones away and talk and "interact" with their parents. It's just VERY cold and we won't go again in August, but otherwise it was pleasant.
It was such a treat not to have to carry food and bedding on the hike. Ruth stocked the fridge for us, provided us with wood and the wine was chilled. We really had such a wonderful stay at Die Galg. Swimming pool was amazing and the setting is stunning. Thank you so much!
