105 guests' feedbackBohemian Garden Cottages was meant as an overnight stop, but became a highlight of our trip. Had dinner at the Bohemian Groove Cafe next door - best German meal we've ever had.
Would recommend the accommodation for a nice rest weekend.
We enjoy it every year. It is very nice and special every year.
Beautiful decor, good location. Picturesque environment.
If you are into vintage accommodation, then this is the place for you. Really nice village!
We only stayed 1 night and for the short visit it was more than sufficient.
Lovely private cottage. We enjoyed our own garden, and also the central courtyard. Well equipped. I would recommend that you add bedside tables with drawers to the second bedroom for some packing space.
They went out of their way to spoil us. Offered bigger unit because we stayed longer. Very helpful with a special request.
We had a great time. Friendly service. Beautifully clean and tidy. Thank you for your hospitality. Will definitely recommend you to all my friends.
When we arrived, the owners allowed us to choose which cottage we preferred due to minimal bookings that weekend which was really nice. So we ended up switching from our original booking. The bedding was clean and the beds were comfortable. We did not enjoy the pillows as we prefer a firmer pillow which they did not have. The bathroom was clean and the shower pressure was good. We had enough hot water for all of us to shower. Candles and extra water was provided during loadshedding which was nice.
Host friendly and helpful. Accommodation is located close to restaurants and activities. Rooms comfortable with everything you need. Just suggest putting something for mosquitoes in rooms.
Nice place and very comfortable.
We were a group of 13 people that stayed for one night. We all had wonderful rooms, space, comfy beds, warm environment. Lovely fireplace.
Gravity makes it difficult, but a lovely big indoor fire helped a lot. Once more than one unit is occupied, hot water for showering is a crisis.
So they were kind enough to upgrade us to the log cabin. Understandably not the most expensive accommodation in Kaapschehoop, it has its market and it was not a long-term stay, but a few things that caught one's eye: It was raining and the roof of the closed porch was leaking like a sieve. Watermark on the one bedroom curtain. The buildings lack general maintenance and cleanliness. Some kind of water pump that constantly switches on and off at night. It feels like a log cabin by the sea with the same problems. We were there for one night. Slept well and traveled on. Would I stay there again if I had to stay longer? Probably not.
The cottages are ideal for a family and have everything you need. The decor matches the name perfectly. Kaapschehoop is the ideal getaway from busy city life.
Our home had a fireplace. Complete accommodation.
Learned lots about Kaapschehoop's history and the most beautiful sunset.
Will return again someday.
Wooden house is behind the main door, with rain it was not very pleasant, but the house is neat, nice and clean. The Elec-DB box needs attention and kept switching off on the power unit. It was raining a lot so couldn't use plugs or the power would cut off.
The staff who stay behind are very noisy and noisy at night and early in the morning and ruined our stay there.
We were happy but the other room we booked for friends smelled bad.
Quiet place. Good environment. Bedding old and in need of replacement. Attention must be given to cleanliness of place one cutlery. Problem with switching power no alternatives, need to upgrade for service delivery.
The room smelled very bad like mold and it was unbearable. The toilet also made strange noises.
Very friendly reception, clean and tidy. We were afraid the motorbikes don't have secure parking, but we were very happy with the parking.
The accommodation was very arty and eccentric. Wholly within my taste. It was very neat and I felt very safe. The atmosphere and the restaurant were lovely and peaceful and the Sunday afternoon there was an artist playing. The food was, of course, top-notch.
There was just a gas smell when you entered.
It's a very interesting place as the name suggests. Everything was neat and very well equipped. Will definitely stay there again.
The cottages are fully and carefully equipped. The restaurant was a hit as always, delicious food, fantastic atmosphere.
See stars.
Pleasant stay, everything was in order, I just feel that the kitchen equipment (crockery and cutlery) was not completely clean. Otherwise no complaints.
Great town for a getaway.
Really special place. Great for a group of friends who have their own rooms and then can share the communal lounge and dining room area with the stunning fireplace and artistic surrounds.
Accommodation close to everything. Neat, nicely decorated room. Delicious food at Bohemian Groove Cafe.
There were sufficient candles to provide light during load shedding.
Apparently they are not pet friendly and the "lady" was terribly unfit. We couldn't drive back straight away, it was too late, drove 4:30 the next morning even though we paid for both nights. Can't expect anything back from the first horrible load shedding night. 100% disappointed.
I keep on going back there! Just love the place!
It was convenient with the children. Enough sleeping space for everyone and a nice big kitchen. All I request is that some attention be given to replacing the light bulbs in the unit. There were quite a few lights that didn't work. The bedding was clean but had a stain or 2 on it. Thank you very much for the effort made and we will definitely stay again.
On our arrival we were kindly welcomed. Our little place to stay was fantastic, fridge, fan, TV, nicest beds I've ever slept on. Love the bedding. I specifically asked for porch because we like to sit outside and admire the sunset. The garden was special. There were barbecue facilities and owners were even willing to come and set your table in the guest area. There was old fashioned carbon, I wish I could go back right now. Every day someone came to clean our place. And the effort you make for our guests, incredible. A thousand thanks, a holiday to remember. Walking tours, most beautiful paths. The horses are too beautiful and there are excursions that can be arranged. Nice hangouts for evenings. We would have liked to have stayed longer. You are awesome.
It is a beautiful small town, wild horses around you, lovely hiking trail and waterfall in the area. Variety of eateries to choose from.
Fantastic place, we had a great time. Very quiet and relaxing. Food was perfect.
Even though it was very cold over the weekend they made sure that the rooms are warm and that there is enough wood for the fireplace. Nice!
We were a big greeting, with small children too. The units shared a spacious veranda with fireplace which was perfect. The 3 bedroom Trading Cottage was also just right for our family with 2 little ones. Everything one needs and more. Will go again!
Kaapsehoop definitely see me again! It is the most beautiful and characterful village I have ever visited. Andrea at the guesthouse was excellent and very friendly. Their restaurant also has the most delicious dishes that are carefully prepared. I would just suggest that their kitchen/waitresses could be a bit faster. We waited quite a long time for our food and drinks. Everything else was exceptional and we will definitely book there again!
Wonderful place, the owners were so so helpful, will definitely come back.
Andrea and staff were simply wonderful! The room was spacious, comfy, clean and had everything we needed. They helped with booking tours etc. and were always keen to send you on an adventure.
Was truly one of the better places and the art incredibly beautiful. So right in our corner. Wonderful service. Hospitable.
We found the cottage very comfortable, loved the sun room and the space outside. The kitchen was well equipped with plenty of space, loved the open plan kitchen and lounge. It could do with a separate toilet as one bathroom/toilet is a little bit taxing for 6 people. The linen in the loft room was a bit dirty. The second downstairs bedroom is tiny with no cupboard space or even place to put your suitcase, we had to use the spare bed in the lounge area to keep a suitcase, not so good for privacy. But on this comment the beds were very comfortable and generally enjoyed our stay at the Log Cabin.
Although the furniture and decor can be described as being somewhat eclectic and rustic, we liked the atmosphere it created, which is in keeping with the history of Kaapschehoop. The unit was clean and comfortable and everything worked. I would say that the accommodation lived up to our expectations and we would definitely consider staying there again. One suggestion I would make is to offer a B&B price option.
Dirty bedding and towels. No one to receive you. Must walk around and look for people to help you. Wait 10 minutes to book because lady is on private phone conversation. No signs where to leave keys when driving early. No answer to call or SMS to find out if keys have been received. Keys were left in windowsill because no key was returned. Had to pay account even though account was fully paid before arrival.
When we arrived at the place, there was no one to receive us at the Cafe. The lady there was on the phone for at least 10 minutes before I went to ask her if she could help me. The white sheets and towels had brown spots on them. Although our bill was paid in full before we got there, I got another bill and then had to email them proof of payment again. We drove around 8 o'clock in the morning the next day and there was no place to leave the keys. I called and sent a message to say I was leaving the key in the Cafe's windowsill. Didn't get a reply. Left a voicemail. Haven't received any feedback yet as to whether the keys have been received. We were looking forward to showing our friends from England the place because we had such a good time last time. Will definitely not stay there again.
Pragtige geskiedenis, pragtige plek, baie lekker kos en het nou lekker gebly. Fantasties.
We had a lovely stay @ Bohemian. Lovely room, the bed was comfy and we had all the necessities. The staff are lovely and very accommodating. Will definitely be back.
We had a great stay, the owner was very friendly and helpful.
We had a fantastic weekend, thanks Andrea for your excellent service and food. Absolutely love the boho feel. Will see you soon.
My second trip to Kaapschehoop, but my first stay at Bohemian Garden Cottages. I traveled alone for the mountain bike stage race held in Kaapschehoop this past weekend, while my husband stayed home to look after the four-legged kids. From the moment I checked in, Andrea made me feel at home. The cottages have magical decor, are well laid out and very safe for a lady travelling alone. There were also families in some of the other cottages and they seemed perfectly at home too. Ideally situated, close to the entrance of the village and only a quick stroll away from the Bohemian Groove Café, as well as all the other interesting little spots. The dinners were exquisite (I had trout the first night and their buffet the next night, and can recommend both). Andrea seemingly never stops running between ruling the kitchen and managing the cottages. Good news is that she never stops smiling either - she certainly has hospitality down to a fine art. All the cottage guests were allowed a late check-out the next day, as our mountain bike race only started at 8:30 and she wanted to allow us all a chance to shower and pack up without being rushed (or worse yet, make the long drive home stinky and full of mud). Good news: there is more than enough hot water for everybody! Not often that you find a restaurant/accommodation combo that ticks all the right boxes but if you're keen to try one for yourself, then Bohemian Garden Cottages is certainly the place to go.
We enjoyed it very much. Andrea immediately made us feel at home. We loved the old feel the place has. Sunday afternoon we went to eat at Bohemian Groove Café and it was top notch. We also really enjoyed the live music.
Went home in the cottage. Very well equipped. Have a nice time. Accommodation was very clean and comfortable. Everything you need was there. Dinner at restaurant was exceptional.
Kaapschehoop stole my heart. There is something special about this little ton and its people. Bohemian Garden Cottages is a beautiful place and fantastic value for money.
Great experience and very nice detail. Very peaceful environment.
Excellent value for money with loads to do in the area. Hosts Andrea & Charl Fourie are very informative and friendly. Can't wait to return.
We loved the fact that the decor was "different" but so interestingly done. Our cottages were wood and iron structures with a quirky twist to the bathrooms and toilets such as unpainted, old metal doors, stone or beautifully tiled basins, etc. Lovely and warm with wall- and standing-heaters for chilly weather, and fans on the stoep for warmer days. Would love to stay there again.
Wonderful experience with excellent, friendly service and attention!
Incredible spot. I always wanted to take my boyfriend and friends there and it exceeded their expectations. Everyone including the kids loved the house. Thank you and I think we will come back again.
Accommodation was good and clean. The restaurants surprised us. Prices were affordable, tasty and served quickly.
Nice and quiet, perfect little getaway destination.
My wife and I went here for our honeymoon. The owner is very friendly and helpful. The area is breathtaking and just to see the wild horses is something special. The restaurant is unique and the food delicious.
It was a cold and rainy weekend so the room was on the cool side. There were extra blankets and heaters. The rooms has very nice, arty decor and is well-equipped for a weekend away.
The guest house was clean and neat and the food at the restaurant was delicious. Thanks for a wonderful weekend.
What a lovely and quaint little place. Beautiful views, quiet and the locals are super friendly and hospitable. Will definitely go back there again.
The room was very stylish and 'fun'. The service was very good and we had a delicious meal at the Bohemian Groove Cafe just next to the cottages. The cottages themselves open onto a garden and wonderful covered lounging area. It's very big, so even if there are other visitors you don't bother each other. We had a wonderful stay!
We enjoyed staying at Bohemian. The dinner and breakfast at the Bohemian Café was special.
Really enjoyed it. Could do with a cosy bar next door.
Friendly and hearty reception, everything was tasteful and neat.
We had a nice stay. It was a comfortable little place with a cute theme.
Nice accommodation is the most awesome little town ever. Unique furniture and very interesting. The genereal area is very nice with its braai area and fireplacce for colder evenings.
The place fits in well with the character of Kaapschehoop and is managed with passion. However, it needs a little "tender love and care".
The only issue was hot water the next morning but they sorted it out. We didn't really spend much time there.
Beautiful hamlet! Fantastic accommodation! Friendly, helpful owners and staff. Comfy cottages, clean and neat. Bohemian Groove Cafe is amazing. Delicious food! Great place for family and friends to relax. We had a great time!
We will definitely visit the Cottages again. The Bohemian Groove Cafe's food was delicious.
Bohemian cottages blew our socks off. Absolutely fabulous and around every corner was a pleasant surprise..not just the cottage but restaurant and village as a whole. We shall be back for sure!
A lovely stay and we felt at home.
We stayed in the miner's cottage. Loved the artistic decor. The cottage itself is set back from the road and quite private. Would definitely recommend or stay there again.
Log Cottage: Lovely rooms, nice living area, well equipped. Only one bathroom. But the rest is so delicious, it's a small sacrifice to make! And the meals at the restaurant are delicious!
If you want to get away from city life, this is the right place. Decor of cottage is breathtakingly beautiful. Enough eating places and weird shops. Then the horses are a bonus.
Easy to locate in Kaapschehoop. Beautiful rooms and convenient. Will visit again any time.
We were 8 friends staying in Flintstone Cottage. Andrea switched on the jacuzzi for us, but it was too cold and didn't get warm enough and we weren't getting braver! Not enough bath towels, only 4, we had to share. Only 3.5 wine glasses, 8 would have been nice! Otherwise we had a nice stay, nice braai and cozy.
Enjoyable, peaceful, interesting, a weekend is just too short.
Enjoyed our stay with good friends.
We spent a fantastic long weekend there and can really recommend it. And the village is beautiful!
Some attention could be given to the warm water in the shower. The outside lights outside the units that are on the whole night bothered us.
Cottage is beautifully equipped, very luxurious. Unfortunately, there was a huge thunderstorm that left the entire area without power and water during the night and next day. We found this disturbing as the owner was not available so we could not contact her to determine what was causing the problem and as we had to travel back to Rustenburg, better customer service would certainly have impressed us. Jugs of water for toilet facilities as well as for drinking were also brought to us late in the morning. No generator available, so we couldn't make coffee or take a bath. Very sorry we could not take full advantage of the luxury of the facilities.
Will definitely stay there again.
Stayed there with my mom and Gran and had a lovely weekend in the quaint little "dorp". Comfy beds and convenient self catering set-up with restaurant next door. Had an issue with a tap and the owner came to fix it immediately and with no hassle.
Artistic atmosphere and reception from music to food to accommodation. You step into boho peace.
It's clearly an artist's guest house.
A self-catering cottage can be defined as a self contained property offering clean, comfortable, furnished accommodation for visitors who are also provided with the means to prepare and cook their own meals. Only a kettle, microwave, braai area outside and some dishes were available. No pots, pans, plastic dishes or two plate stove were available for preparing our food. We had to drive to Nelspruit to buy it out of our own pocket. Also although we were two people, only one knife was available. Very small fridge was also available but it is only to keep perishable food, not suitable for freezing meat for a week
Feel free to see the stars.
Didn't know exactly what to expect from the cottage. We were surprised with the distinctive character of the decor in the unit and experienced the difference as a very positive experience. The accommodation fitted in with the relaxed atmosphere of Kaapsehoop. We will definitely stay here again!
They really offer rest for the soul.
See rating.
Not too bad, next time will stay at other places too.
