The venue was a great surprise after 12 hours on the road. The lodge has a wonderful view over a river flowing through the bush and is packed with all sorts of wild animals. We all enjoyed unwinding at the pool watching the fairly tame giraffe a few meters away.

We had an absolutely fantastic stay at the lodge. From booking all the way through to check-out. The rooms were perfect and had everything we needed. We made use of the pop-up restaurant for dinner and had a super tasty meal with great service! We also ordered breakfast packs and these were ready on time and delicious.

The accommodation in the BnB chalet was beautiful, large and airy with a lovely view over the hills. Our hosts were helpful and attentive, but overall we were very disappointed as we expected to find a lovely lodge with a swimming pool, restaurant, and lounge with a view of the river as advertised. We found out when we got there that it had burnt down last year.

Stunning spot. However, the 'air conditioning' is not as advertised. Had we not taken our portable fan, it would have been impossible to sleep. Winter should be perfect though, and we loved game viewing from our stoep.

Our stay was lovely, despite the restaurant and beloved deck burning down in April. In the morning the birds still wake us up!
The access road is done. The facilities are somewhere between dirty and filthy. The kitchen equipment is inadequate. Maintenance is not done properly. I have a list of 17 items that are if the owner wants to contact me. This is unacceptable at the price being asked. The restaurant is very good, but having only one choice of wine available on the list is not in line with the expectation created by advertisement.
What a surprise. The unit was spacious and clean with a great view. The host was very friendly. Have to say that this was one of the best packed lunches we got in place of the breakfast.

We often stop at Boschrand. We bring our little dog with us and enjoy a twilight cuppa on the porch as the sun sets. Dinner at their restaurant (or room service if you're lazy) is always delicious and so are their breakfasts. Service is friendly and the nature is picturesque.
The staff went out of their way to make our stay fantastic. We were upgraded for free, the self-catering cottage is spacious with all the extras, we braaied and did some fantastic game viewing off our private veranda. Lovely for families or couples.
We thoroughly enjoyed the weekend. The unit we stayed in was spacious and tidy and the fireplace kept us warm throughout the weekend. The bedding was luxurious and the electric blankets a treat. The service was great and prompt. Next time we will go in the summer to fully enjoy the wooden deck and barbecue.
Driving around the game farm was great, girrafes, many buck, wildebeest, and warthogs. The view from the room was awesome, just an open bush. Seeing so many stars at night was a delight. Our dog was welcome with minimal restrictions (on a leash whenever outside). The food was good considering the temporary arrangement for the kitchen. Previously the food was top-class and excellent. Paying a little extra was well worth it.

We used Boschrand as a stopover, but will definitely go back for a longer visit. The lodge's service was excellent, the restaurant is also top notch (the 'sticky pork ribs' are some of the best), and we enjoyed hanging out on the wooden deck with its incredible view of the river. The rooms are very spacious with aircon for the summer and a fireplace for the winter, large comfortable beds, large bathroom with a shower and a bath, and each with its own wooden deck and outdoor furniture. Highly recommended!
We often sleep at Boschrand and we are always very satisfied. Beautiful view from the spacious, neat residential units. It's quiet and safe, the breakfast is delicious and the customer service is great! We will stay there again in the future.
We had a lot of fun swimming, watching wildlife, eating, hanging out and sleeping. The 6-bed unit is perfectly and spaciously equipped and we stayed very comfortably. A few small things about the property need some work, but at least the owners are slowly but surely paying attention to them.
Rooms were good. The service was excellent. The former main reception hall and restaurant burned down.

Boschrand has a traumatic time behind them with their main lodge burning down a week ago. Their accommodation units were fortunately not affected and were in excellent condition. Their hospitality was first class and despite losing a lot of equipment in the fire, they still prepared us a nice dinner and also packed a delicious breakfast pack. We will for sure support them again when we stay overnight in that area. Can recommend them with confidence!

A quiet, relaxing resort a stone's throw from the N1, but far enough to cut out the noise of the traffic, overlooking a valley of beautiful unspoiled nature.
The room is spacious and comfortable and the beautiful view over the field is definitely a bonus. We were relieved to have the choice to enjoy dinner and breakfast in the room. The service was very friendly.
We had a very nice stay. The service and communication was very friendly and helpful. And the view from the room was incredibly beautiful. The rooms are large, comfortable and decorated with appropriate themes. The only concern is the safety of the access road to the lodge, especially if travelers have to arrive late at night. Little things like one or two 'lightcovers' that weren't there might need attention, but didn't take away from the overall experience. We also might have preferred a different shower head.
Unfortunately, Boschrand Lodge's restaurant recently burned down. They now only provide from a limited menu. We were the only guests and they upgraded us to self-catering, which was very pleasant and we were able to make a nice fire for barbecue during load shedding.
Accommodation was reasonably good, but overall expereince with the Lodge was not great due to the restaurant and central reception areas having burned down just a week before our arrival.
Facilities showed some neglect, the chalet was clean inside but the patio was not as well as the built-in braai, litter around the chalet and a geyser leak on top of the entrance. Towels are worn out. The manager is very friendly and helpful. The food was good value and tasty. We did cut our stay short by one night because we were not impressed overall. The setting and scenery are spectacular. Around one river bend lots of litter on the bank, mostly empty plastic bottles.
The moment we walked through the reception area onto the deck we were met with the most beautiful view. Full of animals that enjoy the farm. The service was excellent, and I would highly recommend their spa ladies! The food was superb, our favorite were the chicken wings and the grilled chicken. Amazing! We look forward to our next visit! Already recommended to 3 other families. The place is more beautiful than the photos.

What a fabulous find. Boschrand Lodge is so conveniently situated close to the N1. It is the perfect stop-over (feels like part of the holiday) and provided a relaxing haven after the bustle of the N1 traffic. The BnB cottage deck gave us private space to enjoy a sundowner whilst enjoying the view. The room and bathroom are spacious with everything we needed. The meals at the restaurant were excellent. Warm and friendly staff. All around a fantastic experience. Highly recommended.

Dinner next to a kaggel fire and breakfast overlooking the stunning landscape with lots of animals. Everything was top notch! Would highly recommend for an extraordinary stay.

We've been driving through Winburg for donkey's years - as fast as possible. Then we stumbled upon Boschrand Lodge and were stunned with surprise and laughing with delight. What a tremendous experience. So stunningly beautiful, the nature, the animals, the view, the houses, the service delivery etc. We had a wonderful experience with the people who worked there. Haven't (have we ever) eaten such a nice piece of meat in a restaurant? We won't just drive past Winburg again.

Lovely walk with our dog on the lead seeing zebra, wildebeests and other wildlife, gorgeous view from the Renoster cottage and balcony as well as from the main lodge, only slight downside that one can hear traffic on highway during the night.

We had a problem, it was only load-shedding that made us not happy, they didn't buy enough fuel for their generators.
Had difficulty in locating Boschrand Lodge from Google Maps. However we were given directions by a guesthouse in Winburg who only had good things to say about the lodge. When travelling from CT - I would book there again.
We arrived late, so unfortunately did not have the opportunity to have a good look around. Our room was very big and as a result, it was quite cool in mid winter temperatures. We did make use of the AC to warm it up and there were electric blankets on the bed. Our balcony gave a lovely view the following morning, but probably needs a bit of maintenance which I am sure the owners are planning, as well as our bath which had a small leak, and a loose tap, both of which we reported as many visitors don't bother to give feedback to management. The dinner arrangements were relaxed and the food was absolutely great with a broad menu to choose from. Staff were very polite, attentive and responsive. We felt very safe there, and had undercover parking. The lodge is a few kms of the N1 which is good because the traffic noise is a non-issue. We expect to make use of the lodge again in future if our travels take us to the area.

The room was still being cleaned when we arrived at 3pm, there was a strong smell of woodsmoke, and the sewage pipes may need attending to; however, the room itself was spacious, the view more than compensated for our initial doubts, and the service we received from Bouer was exemplary.

We really enjoyed our visit. Was slightly disappointed because the Jacuzzi could not be used, but it did not detract from our visit. There is a lot of wildlife to see and the view from the rooms and from the lodge is beautiful. I would suggest that a more private separation between units' porches be installed to provide more privacy. However, the rooms are very spacious and clean. Our room's electric blankets were also out of order, but luckily the evening wasn't too cool. The fireplace in the room was lovely!

If you want to get away from the city and into nature. Are they perfect? It's incredibly beautiful there and the service is great. I can't wait to go again. The food is also delicious.
The B&B units were very comfortable, clean and spacious. The units also have a beautiful view of the reserve! The restaurant's food was very tasty - the kitchen put in a lot of effort! The staff were friendly and helpful. We were looking forward to the game drive, but unfortunately could not take advantage of it due to heavy rain the previous few days. We had to wait long hours to get in. We were standing at the gate with no help even when we called. Also, if you have no airtime you won't be able to get in because you need to call in. I really think they should look into new alternatives for the gate issue. It's a problem.

Room was very neat. Enjoyed it a lot. The person at reception when we checked in was blunt and could have given us more information about Boschrand. Otherwise, we had a great stay in a neat unit. Had a very nice meal at a restaurant with a beautiful view.
Buildings need exterior renovation. Parking at some units insufficient. Urgent attention. Sufficient infrastructure must be created to divert storm water away from units.

We stayed over here on our way to KZN from Cape Town. What a find! Gorgeous view from our chalet with giraffes/eland/Nyala in the valley below. Friendly and helpful manager and decent food from the restaurant. The rooms are luxurious and extremely good value for money. We will be back and would recommend Boschrand highly as a weekend destination or stopover!

What a cute place! So close to Bloemfontein! Even with the wonderful rain, there was a beautiful view and the children could use the jacuzzi and swimming pool. Neat, clean, spacious, well-equipped self-catering unit. Our guide was well informed and patiently answered the children's questions during the game drive. We will definitely go again!

We were so pleasantly surprised to find this gem of a Lodge a kilometer or two off the main route to Johannesburg. The staff were exceptionally welcoming and dinner was superb, chosen from a no-fuss menu, just what travelers need after a long drive. The huge bedroom overlooked a beautiful view of the two rivers running through the game reserve and was well-appointed with a very comfortable bed and good quality linen and pillows. All staff was exceptionally friendly and attentive to our needs. We will definitely return.

The website found the accommodation for me, when I could not find my other accommodation. The lady at reception was very helpful. She immediately put me in a family room, without any effort. There had been wood, charcoal, fire lighters, ice and water for us. I can only say thank you very much.
Beautiful place with stunning views.
We had a late check-in, which was hassle-free. We appreciated that we could go directly to our units, since we had a 6-hours drive. The Lodge called us en route, to check if we wanted to order dinner and have it dropped in our rooms, before the dining room closed. So thoughtful! Breakfast was surprisingly basic though. I definitely expected a better spread. Perhaps consider a mini-buffet breakfast - add a selection of cereals, fruit salad, fresh baked pastries, honey, selection of yoghurt, cheese and biscuit board. We had looked forward to breakfast and it was disappointing, in comparison to the venue itself. The 2-km stretch of dirt road from the main road to the entrance should be mentioned, as this caught us by surprise. Perhaps this can be lightly surfaced. Not everyone wants to take their luxury vehicle off-road.

We enjoy sleeping over there and the facilities are very good. We welcome the peace and quiet and therefore choose to spend the night at the lodge on a nature reserve. Both times were on December 31 and because we prefer a quiet new year we don't like to sleep over in a residential area or holiday resort. We also like to barbecue on the deck while enjoying nature and wild animals. However, last time and now again we landed next to guests who were rowdy from 6:00 PM until after 12:00 AM. The music was loud, but we could bear it, but the loud shouting and exuberance was totally inappropriate in a nature reserve. The noise was not limited to the chalet next to us either, but the guests were up and down our bedroom window with a noise until the early hours of the morning. Other guests on the other side (we were three chalets in a row) indicated upon our arrival that they were going to complain to the management. However, nothing was done by management. Furthermore, we could already find the chalet at 14:00, but when we arrived at 17:30 they were still tidying and cleaning it. There were no towels and the cleaner indicated that she would bring towels the next morning. After we insisted, she ringed the towels later. There was no fan like in 2018 and for security reasons we couldn't open the windows - no burglar bars and no security guards. (We might also mention that in 2018 (we also booked through the website), when we got there there was no booking through us and we had to wait almost two hours for a chalet.) We would definitely like to go there again overnight because it is convenient on our way and we enjoy it. However, we would like urgent feedback from the management itself regarding our complaints above.
Lodge has a beautiful location but was very disappointed in cleanliness. Towels smelled musty and sheets, pillowcases and some of the duvets were either unwashed or heavily stained. It's a basic of a lodge that has to be good. Also lots of dead bugs on the floor which makes it look like it wasn't cleaned at all.
We stayed in a self-catering house. It was neat, spacious and clean. We ate in the restaurant morning and evening and the food was delicious! They catered excellently for a vegan person. The game drive was very interesting, we learned a lot from Bouwer and it was extremely value for money. Would love to come again.
We enjoyed every moment at Boschrand Lodge during our 3 night stay. Our room was stylishly and comfortably furnished with daily cleaning services. The restaurant served delicious food at reasonable prices (their milkshakes were heavenly). We were able to communicate with the reception via Whatsapp from our room and they fulfilled all our requirements to make our stay comfortable. There were lots of animals to see and we could watch animals from the pool and the Jacuzzi. Unfortunately my husband could not go on a game drive as we were the only guests interested. There were several ladies at reception who made us feel welcome, except the youngest lady. She made us feel uncomfortable and she was not friendly, but other than that, we would love to go back again in the future.

What a pleasant experience. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They make you feel right at home. Schalk is a very good tour leader. He took us on the game drive and shared so much knowledge about all the animals and the farm with us. The chalet was very stylishly decorated with the most beautiful view. The breakfast was top notch and very tastefully prepared.

We were on our way to Middelburg and stayed at Boschrand. We regretted that we couldn't stay longer. The facilities are super clean and neat and the rooms are tastefully decorated. Breakfast was also delicious.

Leather couches, large fireplace inside, nice large porch outside with large braai area. They give milk, water, ice, wood, briquettes and lighters. Beds are very comfortable. Air conditioning and warm blankets make you forget about the cold. Very nice bar with reasonable prices.

We were greeted with the words "everyone has gone home and there is no one here, you should have pre-arranged for a game drive" (which we did). We were stunned, never felt so unwelcome in our life, didn't know what to do now, should we just go find another place to stay, or what? It was a Sunday, we arrived between 4 and 5 o'clock. We were told that everyone is very tired from a big wedding that was there. Amazingly poor customer service! After we made the hood, the owner's son arrived and the accommodation and game drive were wonderful. The lodge's rooms (which sit separately from the lodge) are some of the most beautiful we have ever seen. Would we go again: yes definitely.

We arrived as a large group and the reception was friendly and prompt. Our cottages were neat and equipped with everything needed for self-catering. However, one problem was the leaking sewer pipe just below the pool deck. It was impossible to sit there and watch the two children because of the flies and smell. 4 of our group and two children did the game drive and saw a great variety of wildlife. We enjoyed dinner and breakfast there and again it was value for money.

A lovely place to relax and sit on the balcony to enjoy the view over the beautiful valley while discovering the game.
The place looks like you could have a wild party, big decks, nice bar, Jacuzzi, swimming pool all while looking out on the wildlife far below. We stayed one night in the B&B unit. Very neat. The guy who made our dinner is grilling a lamb chop that is as tender as a fillet. Hope we see you again.

Boschrand was the perfect halfway stop from Sedgefield to Hazyview. We booked 2 nights in the B&B chalet and we struggled a bit with the hot water. After the first day we moved to one of the self-catering units which was beautiful. The food at the restaurant was very good. One disadvantage is that it is very close to the N1 and the vehicles are quite noisy. However, it is a lovely overnight stop.
The shower was either very hot or cold and hot. The food was 2/5.
Very safe gem of an overnight stop on our trip to the Kruger National Park. The rooms are modern, clean and tidy. We were received kindly and professionally by Jacques, he is a real asset to Boschrand Lodge. Can really recommend it, it's definitely value for money. The view over the reserve from your room and restaurant is a bonus - from here you can see a variety of animals. The dinner and breakfast were also of good quality. Thank you very much again.
A very nice place to enjoy nature, the people there and above all the great variety of beautiful animals. From your veranda looking at the river below, the animals at the edge of the forest, you have a wide view over the plains. And one game drive that is absolutely recommended. And in the evening one delicious dinner.

We spent one night on our way back to Johannesburg airport. What a wonderful location with superb views. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable and we were looked after so well. The room was very large and luxurious. I wish we had been able to stay for longer it was a beautiful place and so peaceful.
The perfect place to overnight on your way to Cape Town. The host Bouwer was incredible, will definitely recommend to other people.
It is very convenient and close to the N1, but not so that the traffic bothers you. We stayed in one of the self-catering units and it was beautifully furnished. The view from the balcony is exceptional. There is also a lovely playground for the children to play in quite close to the self-catering units.
We stayed at Boschrand Lodge as an overnight stop between Pretoria and Cape Town. It was a wonderful stay after the long road. The children immediately played on the jungle gym and trampoline to get rid of excess energy. We booked dinner at the restaurant and it was truly delicious and reasonable. They have accommodated our children with a smile. From the restaurant deck we could see giraffes, various species of antelope and guineafowls by the river. There is a beautiful view from the deck. The next morning we ate breakfast there (R85 per person) and once again they accommodated the children specially. Thank you for your good service, we were rested and ready to drive further. The Lodge is very close to the N1, which makes it very convenient, although the cars can be heard on the other side of the house.
A great stopover just off the N1. Luxury accommodation, bushveld feel. Only negative was that you could hear the traffic on the N1. The positive was that it was just a few minutes off the route!
We enjoyed our stay, the staff were friendly and efficient, the owner was most gracious and the location suited our travel from Augrabies to Durban.

Boschrand is a beautiful lodge a stone's throw from the N1 just outside Winburg. We were very kindly received by Angelique. The path from the parking to the reception may be a little dark at night, but the directions are good. We stayed in the B&B rooms (Kudu) - the rooms are very spacious, and the fireplace creates a lovely atmosphere. The rooms are also very well appointed and have everything you would need. Sufficient power points. Both meals (dinner and breakfast) were very well prepared and very tasty. We would definitely recommend Boschrand to anyone!
The sorting out of the room and the lodge was very nice. Food was very good. Bed was not good. Hole in the middle. Slept poorly. Shower had cracks in it so water sprayed everywhere.

This lodge is really one of the best ones I've stayed at. They are so professional, and not too expensive. So friendly and we were spoiled with the best dinner and breakfast. We went on a game drive an dit was unbelievable. I can highly recommend Boschrand Lodge! The facilities are very clean and excellent! There is a small play park for kids. Nobody can go wrong by choosing Bouwer and his team!
The units were more than we expected. We didn't have towels, but it was immediately supplied when we asked. The service was excellent and the meals were top notch. It was nice to have an electric blanket and a fireplace in the room on a cold winter's night.

Very well received, als was in order with paperwork, room was nice neat and clean and ready unlocked for us, my little daughter (2 years) was with them, they didn't ask anything extra for her, there is also a nice play area for the children . Only the air conditioner in the room didn't work, but after I asked, they gave me the room next door key to use as I wanted. So basically I had 2 rooms for the price of 1! Other than that, no complaints, very nice stay and the food was excellent!
The staff were friendly and helpful, the venue was clean and immaculately kept. There was a lovely playground for the kids to play and lots of game for them to spot from our room. The only drawback is the highway can be heard from the room, but not to the extent that it was a bother. A diamond in the rough.
The accommodation is good and private. The meals provided were also very good and the surroundings are beautiful. However, more attention should be paid to cleaning the units.
WOW WOW WOW! It was a clean, peaceful and nice 4 days.
The Lodge is superbly situated by a river and each accommodation has a veranda overlooking the field. The Jacuzzi and small pool offer privacy. The restaurant and bar are comfortable and the large glass windows are arranged so that you can enjoy the natural beauty of the surroundings even while eating or drinking. The game drives give you a chance to see a wide variety of antelope and buffalo species within a short time. The dinner and breakfast are exquisitely served, with the chef creating a new menu for each meal - very good value for money. We liked the atmosphere created at the residential units. It is tastefully furnished, neatly finished and creates a modern impression. It is comfortable, clean and beautiful accommodation, delicious food, good value for money and there is lovely scenery.

The self-catering units are comprised of a main bedroom (Sleeps2) with a queen-size bed and an open-plan loft area, accommodating 4 guests, a bathroom with a bath and shower, and an open-plan kitchen, dining and living area. The kitchen is equipped with a fridge/freezer, microwave, oven and stove, a kettle, and a toaster. The self-catering unit is equipped with a fireplace, air-conditioning, and a TV with Netflix and Youtube. Guests have access to a covered private deck with views, and built-in braai facilities. On arrival, guests are supplied with 1L milk, coffee, tea, sugar, 1 X firelighters, 1 bag of charcoal, limited firewood, towels and bedding. Each unit has Wi-Fi in the unit available as well.

Accommodation is offered in self-catering units. Each unit is equipped with a fireplace and air-conditioning, as well as an outside deck.
Boschrand Lodge boasts the Bosch Venue, built for wedding ceremonies. Bosch Venue is located right next to the river, surrounded by trees and the bush, and offers seating for up to 140 guests in natural shade provided by the trees from 10 AM until sunset.
Game drives are available for bookings at reception for an additional cost, and take place during the early mornings and late afternoons, lasting for approximately 1 to 1,5 hours.
The nearest town, Winburg, offers historical buildings and places of interest, such as the oldest Voortrekker cemetery in the country, a Dutch Reformed Church, built out of sandstone, a Garden of Rememberance, and a Voortrekker Monument. The Fords historic hotel has a dining hall which was used by the Voortrekkers. Boschrand Lodge is located 109 km from Bloemfontein and 295 km from Johannesburg.
