Guests can enjoy swimming and fishing in the clear, unpolluted river, bring their mountain bikes or take on the hiking routes by foot. Children can enjoy the farm animals and play in the river with tubes. With around 1000 trees over 11 hectares, Boskloof Swemgat is home to an abundance of birdlife.

2nd time visiting. First time by myself as 1-night stop-over with motorbike trip. Beautiful, peaceful, extremely friendly and professional owners and staff. Decided to go back for 2 nights as part of a longer motorbike trip with my son. Very clean. Everything you need. Where can you braai and relax next to, and also swim in a river a few meters in front of the house you stay in? One of my "go to" places for the future. What a nice and comfortable visit.
It was fantastic! The accommodation was lovely, had everything we needed plus air conditioning, which is needed in the summer heat. The river was beautiful to swim in - had a wonderful stay.
Some will complain about the lack of TV and sense. In such a location between the mountains and nature, this is exactly what you want. Go for a walk in the mountains and then relax in the wood-fired bath afterwards with a little wine. The natural swimming hole in the river even has sea sand!

It was incredibly fun.
We really enjoyed the visit. It was quiet and peaceful with plenty to do. The WiFi works well and the host was very friendly and helpful. Children even rode a horse-drawn carriage. I would recommend a few things. It is very difficult to make food for 4 people when there are only 4 of everything. Maybe some extra cutlery and bowls, and maybe some plastic bowls for the kids. The hinge behind the bathroom door is loose, and also perhaps a shelf in the bathroom. Nothing stays on the edge of the sink. Also thought there was a jacuzzi, but it was only the one cottage.
Boskloof Swemgat offers an excellent location and hiking trails for hikers. Provision can be made for cupboards for guests' clothes and personal items. The fabric is really not very comfortable. The step between the bedroom and living room/kitchen is a risk during load shedding. We would also have appreciated if we had been notified of load shedding times.
Great stay! The unit has everything you need for a carefree stay. Beautiful surroundings and quiet and peaceful.

There needs to be an easier way to get in and out of the Jacuzzi. It is very high off the ground. Also, there needs to be another step from the bedroom to the kitchen One step too deep.

A bit expensive compared to other similar places. Upon receipt, the reserved place has already been given to someone else by mistake. Another unit was provided to us which was adequate.
The host, Gretha, was so friendly and welcoming. Owen's house was a neat, well-equipped house with a neat and clean outside braai. The fireplace inside was a must. September is still cold, needs a gas heater as well. The Swemgat brings tranquility!

We enjoyed our stay and were warm enough on a couple of very cold nights. With hindsight, we should rather have booked in town as we were viewing flowers. It would have been easier not to have the up and down on the gravel road. This cottage is more suited to a longer stay where people want to explore the immediate surroundings.
The cottage is clean and spacious and fully furnished. Has light, however, far from Clanwilliam on an unpaved road. We were not received on arrival, no one asked during our stay if everything was in order and on departure I put the key in a mailbox. Not hospitable.
This was my fifth visit to Nenna's house and was just as nice as the first time. Had some problems with the shower the first night, but it was quickly sorted out the next morning by Gretha and her friendly team. Everything you need for a nice stay is there as well as good wifi. You can also buy wood and ice there. Icing on the cake is the nice swimming hole to cool off in Clanwilliam's heat.

Have stayed here (Langhuisie) before. Just had to come back, and will come back again. Amazing place for head-off. The indoor barbecue/fireplace and stream right at the front door make the place very special!

Our host, Greta, was amazing and catered for every need, more than what is expected.
Charmed by surroundings.
It was my third time at Boskloof. Neat, clean house with everything you need. There is an air railing for the hot days, but you can also swim in the river that passes by the accommodation.
Our grandson was with us the 1st night and we had fun swimming together in the swimming hole. We had everything we could need. Reception was warm and the staff we encountered very friendly. I can honestly say that the only thing that bothered me were the flies but that is understandable on a working farm and excruciating heat. There was Doom but I put a piece of meat aside in the bag in which the meat was and lured most of them there so that we could sit on the porch and have a barbecue. Would definitely recommend Boskloof, even in winter as there is a fire place inside, as well as Jacuzzis available on 2 units' verandas. Just a pity Boskloof is not pet friendly, which excludes them for people who especially want to travel with their dogs. I would recommend Boskloof with love even if there is no TV.

We enjoyed the tranquil setting, inside and out. We had a lovely time in the summer but I'm sure it would be absolutely awesome in the colder months. There's a fireplace in the bedroom and a hot jacuzzi on the veranda!
This is our second visit and absolutely loved it. Again. Your private ' swemgat ' is wonderful, especially after this time, a cycle from there into the town of Clanwilliam and back again. Langhuis and Kliphuis provide privacy and sitting outside well into the night listening to the night sounds and river is a balm for one's soul. Definitely recommended.

My husband and I really enjoyed it. The view and the silence were just what we needed. The large porch with the hot tub was a winner.
The reception on arrival was excellent and hospitable. The accommodation was neat and clean.
Although there were other cottages in view, with our own access to the river, we felt totally private. The only complaint we would have is the irritation of flies. Our pillows were too hard for our liking but we were given new pillows on request.
Nice stay, our little house definitely needs a canopy outside, too little shade, all the other houses do, it was advertised as a 6 sleeper but the double sofa bed definitely needs to be replaced, my son had to sleep on the sofa. Not too comfortable for a 26 year old. Rooms comfortable and clean, kitchen may need a few bowls but had a great time, will go again.
Booking process and reception was quick and easy. A bag of wood included in the price would be welcome as this is farm accommodation and guests like to hang out outside, we luckily brought it with us. Early morning cleaning of braai area was disturbing, from 10:00 after evacuation would be more acceptable.

We stayed for 3 nights in May 2022. Positive: quite a picturesque cottage on beautiful location, normally silent but occasionally some noise from passing farmers with bakkies. Very helpful owner helped us when we got stuck with our rental car, many thanks for that. Good WiFi. Less good: cleanliness was definitely not good. Rather low quality finishing especially kitchen and bathroom. Drainage os shower was blocked (was improved on request). Fireplace was quite dirty with braai fat from previous people. Outdated kitchen inventory, a bit a collection of all kinds of everything. The most serious problem for us however was the bed. We are of average length (< 1. 80) and weight, however this bed is too small/short for us. How old is this mattress? Probably from the previous century. With regrets, but we wouldn't go there a next time.
The cottage was recently renovated and delivered more than I expected. The braai is covered and air conditioning was very nice and welcome. We had fun walking, jogging, cycling and swimming in a river with lovely white sand. Going to visit again in the winter so I can try the fireplace too. In the evening we sat in the "hot tub" on the stoep up to our necks in the hot water. The people of Clanwilliam are all people of the heart. Felt very safe.
Would definitely recommend, nature speaks to you and you can just let go. Very tidy inside with everything and more you need. Our 2 teenage daughters really enjoyed it, would recommend it to everyone. Well done.

I loved everything about Boskloof Swemgat. I think I left my soul behind. It's peaceful, serene, and so green. The birds were my alarm in the mornings. Wish I could stay longer.
Beautiful surroundings in nature, quiet and away from noise, friendly people and everything in its place. A big plus for the Jacuzzi which was already ready and there is a "plunger" for my coffee!
The place is well equipped and the staff are very helpful and friendly. The receptionist is a great asset to Boskloof Swimming Pool!
We stayed in Kliphuis. It was private, clean and absolutely magical. We had a lovely stay and will definitely be going back.
Really enjoyed this place! The location of our cottage "Kliphuis" was very private with the Jan Dissels River bubbling down toward the Olifants. This secluded yet close to town "kloof" has a wonderful sense of the old world. The flowers were beautiful all the way to almost the end of the kloof. We enjoyed birding up and down the kloof! A really good find! I am looking forward to a return visit. The lovely warm Jacuzzi on our stoep was an added bonus. Only Kliphuis has the Jacuzzi! I am also very happy with the no pets policy, just because you know that you will not find abandoned/lost cats or dogs on the property.
Quiet and nice farm feel.
We stayed in the Nenna cottage. It had a very nice braai area and one could see and hear many birds. You can also look at the horses and a zebra right next to the house. We also did the walking trail on site which was fun but challenging. And then after the time cool off in the swimming pools. A lot of effort is put into making sure you enjoy your time to switch off.
First time visiting, expected it to be a scorcher at foot of mountain, perfect location, heavenly swimming and surroundings. Will go again.
We planned to sleep there for only two nights, but it is so beautiful and peaceful there that we ended up staying another day there. Everything is clean and tidy and we will definitely stay there again.

We loved our stay in Owen Huis. Cottage was sparkling clean. The location was fabulous, surrounded by flowers and orange groves. Very quiet and staff very helpful. Great value for money and we really appreciated being able to stay for just one night. We will be back.

It was worth it to go via spectacular Pakhuispass to Bidouw Valley beginning of September to see the flowers.
For the cold weather a heater would have been appreciated as fire making is not a skill that I have mastered. The window blinds need attention. That being said management noted our complaint of the 1 room and did attempt to rectify the problem. Gretha was most welcoming, friendly and helpful. She sent a staff member to our chalet to help us log on to the WiFi. Beautiful scenery. Would happily return.
The house is very neat and everything works perfectly. The location of the house is excellent and also close to Clanwilliam and also attractions such as the warehouse pass etc. The lady who received us was very peaceful and hospitable and did her job well. I can definitely recommend the place and will also use them more often.

Peaceful getaway in nature. Lots to do (MTB, hiking, river swimming, chill, etc.) and not enough time. Children could play and enjoy themselves without our supervision every minute of the day. Safe environment and beautiful nature and sunsets. We will visit there again.

The accommodation was very pleasant. The view of nature and the sound of animals in the background makes it the ideal place to spend time with your family or life partner. Our family loves music and because we couldn't play music it was a disappointment. The stay was still worth it.

We had a wonderful stay, a really nice break.
We booked the Longhouse which has a "private rock pool". Would it be worth it? We booked 7 nights in January which is a very hot part of the year. Our finding: the rock pool was large and fantastic to be able to use daily in privacy. The house was very neat and clean, perfect for 2 people. The thatched roof kept it cool, but the air conditioning made the bedroom nice and cool in minutes. Interestingly, we had no mosquito burden. The braai area and outside seating was under a large tree next to the house - delicious! The grill was not a bunch of wires held together by a rusted frame, but a good quality stainless steel grill in very good condition. In summary it was a wonderful time in a beautiful setting. We will definitely be back again.

We sent photographs of the condition of the Cottage we rented. It really wasn't up to standard and requires serious upgrading, also not clean i. e. dirty blinds, not cleaned above the mirror in the bathroom, etc. Couldn't access the river from our cottage, bush was overgrown, had to use the neighbouring cottage for access. Personally as stated above, I would not recommend this to any of our friends until we know the cottages have been upgraded.

In the gorge next to the river stands Langhuis in the shadow of a large fig tree. Well equipped, clean and tidy and the privacy we prefer. Bonus was the rain and the river that came down. Safe hiking trails up the mountain to the cave or dirt road next to the low water bridge with the cleanest drinking water. Still the most beautiful wildflowers and vegetation and water streams everywhere you look. Friendly reception!

We stayed in Kliphuis during our flower trip in September 2020. The resort is tucked away next to the river a few minutes from Clanwilliam on a decent dirt road. Each cottage feels private, separated by rocky outcrops and trees. It is simply furnished with comfortable beds, hot and strong water for shower or bath. Very clean, it had everything we needed. Sitting on the stoep stargazing was a highlight. We wished we had booked for longer and will be back.

We stayed in Fivas' house which was so neat and beautiful. It was comfortable, convenient and beautiful. The horses and donkey that graze in front of the porch and even come to visit on the porch amused us a lot! It was a lovely getaway! Uncontaminated silence dotted with animal sounds makes you feel so at home.

Great getaway with plenty of entertainment for children who love the outdoors. Feel free to tackle the Karakadow Tower hiking trail, but be prepared, not for beginners.

WiFi is advertised, but our cottage was the only one without its own WiFi, with very limited reception from the cottage next door. WiFi access, for work purposes, was a major consideration in our decision to visit Boskloof. The wooden bench outside on the porch needs to be repaired. Inside there are some small repairs that need to be done, such as tightening screws, loose shower head. There was no soap in the shower. Mosquito repellents in the rooms are highly recommended. The quality of wood sold is not suitable for barbecuing. It did work well for potty food, just bring your own potty. The descriptions of activities in the area are slightly unclear and not up to date (eg entrance prices). Note that the Krakadouw hiking trail is by no means easy. The path runs perpendicular to contour lines and there are many loose stones. This route is therefore only for experienced hikers. Reception was particularly friendly and helpful. Our little house was very close to the swimming hole and we had a great time swimming. There are also two inner tubes available to play with in the river. The surroundings are really beautiful and peaceful and Clanwilliam is only 10 km away.
The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The venue is beautiful and well located. However, the room didn't have a fireplace as promised, the hot tub took over 5 hours to warm up, the roof leaked when it started raining, and some of the appliances did not work.

We could not make check in time as we arrived late, but as promised, my key was inside a white envelope on the key box with direction to our cottage. During the afternoon, I received a phone call to check if we are still arriving late. We could take a bag of wood for the evening and were allowed to pay for it the next morning. Cottage was nice and clean. Loved the place. Will go back again.

Just when you start wondering if you're following the right road, you arrive at this absolutely marvellous location. So beautiful, so quiet, so soothing. You have your own small waterfall and an outdoor shower (at least: our lodge had one). Unbelievable to discover that in these wonderful surroundings, one or more of our predecessors found it necessary to leave some cigarette butts nearby the waterfall (no critics to the owner, of course!).
We enjoyed our stay a lot. Will definitely go back. The kids loved the river and the animals. It's great for riding your bike a going hiking.

Location is really quiet and peaceful. No cell phone signal, but free WiFi. House very clean and tidy, everything one needs to recharge batteries again. Real farm atmosphere, only hear cows, sheep and birds, sun bugs and further the lapping of water. We would go there again anytime.

Waking up every morning with singing birds and a river by your doorstep was awesome. Everyone is kind and very helpful. Really enjoyed it and will definitely go back again.
Me and my partner stayed at the Hangnes and the view was spectacular. Even though this little house is more separate and a bit further from the river, at night you can hear the water dribble over the rocks. You can light tour fire and slip into the nice warm Jacuzzi and look at the stars and breathtaking mountains at night. All in all, namaste.
A pleasant surprise since you do not always know what to expect from the web pictures alone, but as advertised with no nasty surprises. Feels safe since its not a thoroughfare and we can recommend this as a great escape from the city rush. Also close enough to town to stock up at the Super Spar. I would just recommend taking your own braai wood since the wood is a bit expensive, however it is convenient and nothing to complain about, just a comment.

Boskloof Swemgat was exactly what my husband and I needed. The accommodation was clean and in excellent condition. The surrounds were tranquil, peaceful and refreshing. So glad there were no cellphone reception; no TV. Just the earth, the sky, the river, the animals and us. We found each other again! A lovely passion fruit plant hung on our stoep making the house cool. We loved it!

Very good value for money. Boskloof Swemgat is easily accessible but still secluded and offers options to just relax, or use it as a base to discover the Cederberge. Should offer something for any traveler. Not luxurious, but offers comfortable and tidy accommodation with a hospitable welcome.

Boskloof Swemgat is a lovely spot in a beautiful part of our country. The stay was all we hoped for. Beds were super comfortable, hosts were friendly and helpful and the chickens amusing. Highly recommended as a no-frills comfortable getaway place to explore the area.

If you like unadorned and real life, then this is the place for you. Upon arrival, my teenager immediately said here we are going to stay longer. You pay a fraction of the cost here than for a Hydro, but it's here where you feel the built-up tension draining out of you and disappearing into the Cedar Mountains. Everything is perfect: The Jacuzzi is a winner for my one teenager, the clean swimming hole for my other esoteric teenager, the overall bliss for wife and of course the barbecue and authenticity for me. It's as close to earth as you can get. And Gretha, the hostess with her cute children contributed to the fantastic experience with helpfulness and kindness.

Well-equipped, comfortable beds and bedding - air-conditioner may need to be serviced - it doesn't get cold. Good braai facilities and close to dam. Will book a unit with Jacuzzi next time because the dam is too cold to swim in.

We only stayed one night and would love to go back. We sat in a hot Jacuzzi and looked at the stars. Walked down to the waterfall and appreciated the Boskloof's nature. Have a good barbecue and enjoy the tranquility. Nice spacious open plan chalet. Just note that the bedrooms do not have ceilings. It is open to the top.

Boskloof is located in a beautiful gorge with a very nice view of the mountains and the banks of the cleanest river I have ever seen. Nice walk in the mountain and ideally located for flower viewing.
Tranquil and safe area for the entire family. The river is very clean and the entire terrain is neat. Everyone very friendly and the children enjoyed the donkeys and zebras a lot.
The praises of the environment cannot be sung enough. Everywhere you turn, you stare at the picture. Extreme temperatures, whether hot or cold, can drive you indoors, luckily this indoors fully caters for every extreme. The road there is a challenge, but any Sedan will get you there. Everything you find on Boskloof immediately makes you forget about the little corrugated iron road. Boskloof is a place that you will always think about again, that you will long to return to and visit again ten to one.
If you are looking for a nice weekend getaway during the cold winter months, Boskloof Swimming Pool is the perfect place. The fact that there is no cell phone signal helps you forget about the busy life you have left behind for a while. We stayed in Nenna's House, which is suitable for 2 people or even a couple with 2 young children. The cottage is very neatly furnished with everything you would need. There is an outdoor barbecue, but you will have to make an alternative plan if it rains. You can hear the river when you sit on the porch with a glass of wine or even inside in front of the fireplace with a good book. The beautiful walking paths between the citrus farms allow you to get out of the house a little and enjoy the natural beauty. I would recommend Boskloof Swimming Hole to anyone looking for a weekend of fun.

It was ice cold when we were there, but the heater worked well. It is very private and peaceful. We had such a nice stay that we extended our stay with 2 extra days.

Ideal for a getaway holiday or weekend. The house was very nicely furnished, clean and tidy. The reception was very friendly and helpful.
Enjoyed the swimming tremendously. The climb up to the top of the toring was challenging and left all of us who attempted it with a feeling of accomplishment. Fishing for bass was good. No efforts seem to have been made to reduce the bass and banded tilapia populations. No red fin minnows nor clanwilliam yellow fish were seen with an overabundance of small bass. Management should consider air-conditioning for all units if they wish to fill the units in summer. Overall a wonderful week was enjoyed. We will be back.
Boskloof Swimming Pool fantastically located, it is truly beautiful and takes one's breath away. The Hangnes 1 needs some upgrading, the shower's hot water does not work, there is a fan in the children's room but no wall plug for him, there are no TV facilities at all, and the WiFi code that is in the information directory is not work The plus points were the Jacuzzi with the beautiful view! Will definitely go back if the cottages are upgraded.
Take someone with you with whom you can have a good time. There's nothing to do, but that's why you should go there. To rest and relax. It's very beautiful there and the babbling of the river sounds wonderful.

The cottage is simple but offers all you need. Fireplace inside the bedroom was very welcome and the Jacuzzi hard to get out of. A great spot to watch the stars as it gets real dark here.

We decided on the place in March. We stayed in Nenna. Wow what a view! It is absolutely the ideal destination to recharge your batteries. Thank god for no cell reception and TV. We took our mountain bikes to Clanwilliam Saturday morning for coffee and all the people along the way were so nice and didn't kick up too much dust unnecessarily. The resort is bliss in the drought. It was by far the best R1240 we've spent in a long time. Thank you for the beautiful resort. You will definitely see us again soon!
Paul, Juanita and Elizby are fantastic hosts. We enjoyed our time there so much. The Boskloof is beautiful and we had a nice braai and a good time swimming and relaxing. The sound of water and the birds chirping is incredible - makes you forget all about the city and contributes to the tranquil atmosphere. Will recommend it and will also stay there again.
We had the warmest weekend in a long time. When we arrived there the air conditioning was allready switched on so the little house was nice and cool. Everything was nice and clean. Breathtakingly beautiful. I'll recommend this place to anyone and will be back soon.

Our time at Boskloof Swemgat was incredibly nice and we will definitely recommend it to anyone wanting to go there to rest. The houses are equipped with everything you could possibly need, very neat and well laid out. All the houses are far enough from each other so that each has their privacy and you don't bother or hear each other at all. There are many farm animals and even 2 zebras that provide entertainment at all times. The staff are helpful and friendly. We stayed in Kliphuis and there you have a private stream flowing past the house and you don't ever have to go outside the borders of the house. We enjoyed our time and will definitely go again.

We were booked into Langhuis, it was great! Truly a place I will return to again and again, your soul finds rest in nature. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need and it was nice to stay there for a few days. Boskloof will definitely see me again, together with some friends and family!
It's a quiet area outside the town. We were at home in Kliphuis no 6. The hot tub on the veranda was a winner. Improvements are being made such as a built braai on the stoep and it will be good. The valley is beautiful! We will definitely stay here again.
We stayed in a farm tipe house. Very private, spacious, good fireplace. Well-equipped kitchen. Little streams, sheep grazing about, almond trees in bloom. Idyllic place to rest and relax. Must be wonderful in summer. We will definitely be back.
A small river runs at the feet of the cottages, you are reasonably far from your neighbors so you don't hear jam but only see their light on the woods at night. Bathroom perfect, towels provided. Many towels provided and comfy beds. All kitchen equipment is functional. Braai area with a lot of easy wood around the house.

Die sitkamer is vreeslik styf en formeel. Ek stel ook 'n gemaklike bank of 'n gemakstoel voor sodat jy werklik die rustigheid en stilte kan indrink terwyl jy sit en boeklees. Dít sal nou lekker wees en die eenheid omskep in 'n plek waar jy heerlik kan ontspan en herlaai. Ek kan dit regtig aanbeveel en sal beslis weer daar 'n draai maak.

Was here with partner and 2 dogs. Dogs could enjoy themselves, not too open so that they see other dogs, and not too closed that they disappear all the time. A bit inconvenient that there are no card facilities.

Beautiful surroundings, very quiet. Everything was clean and well taken care off. For people without a 4x4 car, just note that lots of roads in the Cedarberg area are gravel roads, especially difficult if you want to go to small villages like Wuppertal (not worth the long drive there b.t.w.). Other than that the stay was just amazing.

Wonderful relaxing weekend spent with family and friends at Boskloof Swemgat, beautiful natural pools to swim in, well appointed cottages; and very friendly staff members. What a treat to be without electronics and cell phone signals and truly enjoy Mother Nature.
Our reception was very friendly and the staff were very accommodating. The place is perfect for the traveler with small children. Our little girl (3yrs) and boy (almost 2) had a great time frolicking in the shallow water of the swimming hole. There was a swing and slide right in front of our little house and even the zebra came to say hello a few times!
We would very much like to visit again, Boskloof is definitely recommended, just a pity we only had one night. The units are clean and tidy and there is everything one needs. The river is easily accessible and the donkey and horses that often visited the camp at our cottage were bonus entertainment for our 2 year old daughter! Each unit has 2 inner tubes to float around on the river which was a nice surprise and there is even a climbing frame with a swing and a slide for the little ones! All I can complain about is that there was not a candle anywhere in sight for the candlelighters! At least it wasn't urgent, I just wanted to light candles with dinner! The lady at reception didn't know about us arriving either, but that's my fault too, because I didn't bring any proof! I don't know if I read it wrong, but we weren't aware that there was no cell phone reception, so we couldn't have let the people at home know that we were safe!

Wondeful getaway, totally relaxing. The little house is fully equiped. One issue: the house is right on the farm road, so passing vehicles and pedestrians were a disturbance. That said, still very nice.

We loved being surrounded by stillness and nature! The kids (3 and 4) played their hearts out in the safe area by the river and they even built sand castles. The horses, donkeys, and sebra were the hightlights for them. We couldn't use the fireplace/inside braai, smoke kept coming out, but the house was comfy. No breadknife. And only 2 clothes hangers. Low pressure in the geyser, so quiet a struggle to have a warm shower. But the positives outweight the negatives! Stunning view from the double bed. You wake up with a smile on your face.
Fantastic and relaxing during the week, but a nightmare on Friday nights, drunk neighbours in two houses making so much noise until 6 the next morning. They market Boskloof Swemgat as a relaxing getaway so the rules should indicate strict times and this should be enforced. I still recommend Boskloof Swemgat because I'm sure they'll do something about it.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit at Boskloof Swimming Pool. This was the second time we have stayed there and will return any day. Many thanks to everyone who made it so enjoyable.

We arrived from Windhoek after dark, and would have liked to explore the beautiful surroundings late afternoon. Everything was very well looked after and tastefully decorated. Feels farm-like and natural. Good value for money.

Although my room wasn't ready as they didn't get my reservation that I made through the internet the day before, they did it quickly and the rest of the time everything was peaceful and pleasant.

We stayed in Boskloof for two nights. We didn't really receive a warm welcoming. In the house we stayed there was a lot of information about Clanwilliam, but the schedule of the year's events in Clanwilliam was for 2015. No information about Boskloof itself. The next day we wanted to go to the cave and mountain pools, but we didn't have any information about the route. Couldn't fnd anyone at reception and after we rang the bell and waited a few minutes, a lady arrived and could tell us where the trail starts. We got lost on our way, and we're sure it could have been avoided if we had more information. Our cottage was very neat, with a beautiful view and had everything we needed. Very quiet and peaceful.
Accommodation was spacious with all the necessary comforts for a road weary traveller. One complaint - the single bed's mattress was so hard that I slept on the couch in the lounge.
We visited Boskloof in March and it is a green oasis in an otherwise barren landscape. Everyone really enjoyed the swimming hole and it was a real treat in Clanwilliam's heat. We stayed in Gustav (sleeps 8) but the dining table only had 5 chairs. Boskloof is definitely not the ideal holiday spot for a city dweller who cannot live without his TV and mobile phone reception!
Very disinterested welcome. We booked for 6 adults but were given a unit with a sleeper bed for two adults in the lounge and when we enquired about changing we were told it is a six sleeper unit! Bathroom with toilet that comes off the lounge inadequate for 6 people and the bathroom door did not close properly. We were disappointed with our accomodation.
Boskloof Swimming Pool is very beautiful and we had a great time. The houses are beautiful. I think it can only be renovated inside, e.g. hanging space for clothes, and sufficient wall plugs, as well as a dressing table with sufficient light where one can sit and write or/and make-up and comb hair.
The accommodation needs serious repairs. Gustav cottage's front door doesn't lock or unlock easily. The kitchen tap and hand-spray over bath need repairs. The dustbin drawer and the cupboard in the bathroom are needing repair. We saw at least 3 beehives in hollow logs close to the house. We needed an extra dustbin packet. There wasn't a proper drying up cloth. There should definitely be fly screens on windows and doors as the flies were bad even in cooler weather. Generally they need to revamp the entire cottage as it's not up to standard for what they charge. People we met who had a one bedroom cottage left early as their bed was extremely uncomfortable. I've got friends going there in December and am concerned.
Not a very warm welcome. The unit is a beautiful "hartbeeshuisie" that is neat and well-equipped. Inside and outside braai. Inside braai lets smoke into the house at times. The only negative thing was the lack of cellphone recdeption and the WiFi, as advertised, is only available at reception.
The resort offers a unique holiday experience with the swimming hole in the river and its seclusion from the town. The chalet is not luxurious, but the idea is definitely to be outside the chalet in nature and further in the area. Unfortunately the chalet was not very clean. It was a shame because it does the place an injustice.

The customer service was excellent. Due to a motorcycle accident, the one person who was also booked for could not be there. Although there was an offer to pay for the person, the owner wanted nothing to do with it. The overnight stay was beautifully clean and tidy. The environment and nature were breathtaking. Truly a place I will seek out again if the opportunity presents itself.

If you want to get away from phones and look for tranquility, this is the place. The Owen cottage we booked had everything and really is so fully furnished that just unpacking your cooler is a joy. One can see it has been equipped with care and the traveler's needs have been taken into account. I will definitely go there again.
It was terribly hot in the Cape during our visit, and since the windows and door do not have security gates and burglar bars, we were too afraid to open them at night. We got terribly hot, despite the fans provided. Despite that, we really enjoyed our stay.

Nice place with swimming water, which you really need in December and January because it was very hot there. Warm welcome and lots of privacy at the cottage.

My husband and I and 2 children were there. The reception was good, the house clean and tidy. The tranquility and calm that one experiences there is breathtaking. Away from the noise of the town. I will definitely go again and this time I will take my whole family.

Goodness, this was the most pathetic accommodation for this price. The house is build from old ZAR asbestos or whatever panels. The so-to-be lounge is as big as a post stamp with a 2 seater couch as old as Noas Ark. Four people could not sit in the lounge and as it was heavily raining the first night, we (4 adults) had to squeeze into this tiny lounge/kitchenette. The only positive thing was the fireplace and the mattresses were of good quality. The second bedroom is so small that the couple staying there had to put their suitcases at the footend of their beds! We will never go there again. The location is very good.

The swimming area is amazing and ideal for smaller children. The environment is beautiful and safe. The cottages are not luxurious, although one pays quite a lot and therefore expects more.

It is a lovely place for a couple without children. Private swimming pool is a big plus in the summer! There are no closets to hang clothes. Furthermore, everything is wonderfully peaceful, quiet and the ideal place to get away from the hustle and bustle of life.

Ideal holiday for family. Accommodation is clean, tidy and well equipped. Location very good - close enough to town, but still secluded and without WiFi/mobile phone reception to be able to relax. The swimming hole is fantastic. We were on the 'beach' all day, caught 4 fish and floated around on water and river on tractor tires. Walking up mountain was accessible even for 5 year old, and views beautiful. We will definitely come again!

We stayed at Boskloof Swemgat for 4 days while touring the Cederberg and surrounds. Good place for a base.
Me, my family and another family went to stay at Boskloof for a few days. The house had a beautiful porch and braai. The farm is very quiet and peaceful and the perfect environment to switch off and rest. It's also close enough to town to walk back for shopping and sightseeing. There were an awful lot of fish moths, spiders and other creatures inside our cottage, so if these things bother you a lot, this might not be the place to go to relax. The river with the little beach was certainly the highlight and the children enjoyed it so much.
The accommodation is unique in an old house. Hanging space for clothes is totally absent. Front door could not unlock when closed. I wanted to ask for help with that in the morning but there was no one in the office. The lady who received us was friendly but had a strong smell of booze and a trailing tongue. I should add we didn't arrive until about 6.40pm, if that may be an excuse. Despite the above, it is a beautiful environment and cottage where one can rest and relax. No cleaning service: not offered at extra charge either.
It was quite strange to hear that we still had to pay R365 when we arrived! The misunderstanding was then cleared up, but it left a bad taste in the mouth.
It was a very nice visit! Very calm. The stars in the evenings had been something to behold, breathtaking. The cottages are real old farmhouse designs and if you are looking for something luxurious this is not the place for you. You should go as a group of people who can hang out all night. Since there are no TVs or mobile phone reception, you just have to take something with you to keep the children occupied if you as parents just want to sit back and relax and in case the river water is a little cold. For the price you pay, we expected a little more than we got. If you want to keep in touch with your family or friends, you have to drive into the village.

Our host, Joan was very professional and always willing to assist where she can. The place is breathtaking, no words can explain the feeling of getting in touch with nature, you must experience this yourself. The accommodation is clean and well looked after, my 17 yr old son and 6 yr old loved the place and we will definitely be returning. We will definitely recommend this place.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Peaceful and very scenic and the view of the stars and the Milky Way at night was nothing short of magnificent! Put out all lights and move away from the chalet and look towards the heavens for a spectacular sight!

I booked and paid in full for the overnight accommodation at Boskloofswemgat 6 months before the visit to Clanwilliam. We spent only one night there and the cottage was a big disappointment for us. We were allocated a 2 bedroom asbestos cottage with very cramped bedrooms. The bathroom is large and the living area/kitchen acceptable. The house is run down, old and some of the furniture is run down and broken. It was not cleaned properly. The chalet right next to us was a beautiful Cape style stone building with a thatched roof and the rooms and furniture were beautiful and spacious. It is also a 2 bedroom and no guest believes I will complain about that one. Avoid staying in No. 2. It's awful and a real let down if you're expecting beautiful old Cape farm style. Also be warned that a breakage deposit in cash is required on arrival.
There is no service during the stay, apart from the braai area which is cleaned.
I chose it for sentimental value...and got much more than I hoped for. Even though it was high summer and very hot, I thoroughly enjoyed the stay.

My spouse, my 3year old son, and I booked in for a 2-night stay. We sat under the trees and enjoyed the views, as well as the cool water of the swembad and took long walks. I would go and stay there next weekend again if I could! It was fantastic!! It's everything you can ask for if you want to rest and start the Monday fresh and with a smile.

The little house was lovely and the locality was stunning. One of the best things was that there was no TV, radio or cell phone reception and you could hear the river and the birds. You could also see the horses in the distance. In the evening we had a visit from a Jack Russell who refused to go home, he only went when we went to sleep and in the morning we had much fun playing with a young Labrador and later watching her playing with a doggie friend. My friend was so excited, because there are so few places you can take your dogs with. I knew that from your website, but did not tell her, because we did not have place in the car for her dog, but she will definitely try to go there again. If we were not in such a hurry, we would really have stayed longer. Thank you for introducing us to this lovely place.

An additional breakage deposit of R200 is payable on the day of arrival and will be refunded within 7 days after departure by bank transfer after inspection of the cottage by management. Herewith we reserve the right to deduct any costs involving breakages or any other damages incurred while occupying the cottage. No credit cards accepted.
This cottage can comfortably accommodate 4 adults and 2 children at a time and comprises 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. The main bedroom is furnished with a double bed and the second bedroom contains 2 single beds. The bathroom is fitted with a shower, bath, washbasin and toilet.
The open-plan living area features a kitchen equipped with a 2-plate stove with a mini-oven, microwave, fridge, cutlery and crockery as well as a breakfast bar with stools. Leading from this kitchen is a cosy lounge with a child-only double sleeper couch and a fireplace.
Outside there is a lovely patio with seating, braai facilities and an inviting wood-burning hot tub which is the perfect spot for guests to fully relax with a sundowner while overlooking the surrounding countryside. This cottage is approximately 200 m from the river.
Wood and homemade products are for sale at the kiosk for your convenience. Guests can enjoy swimming and fishing in the clear, unpolluted river, bring their mountain bikes or take on the hiking routes by foot. Children can enjoy the farm animals and play in the river with tubes. With around 1000 trees over 11 hectares, Boskloof Swemgat is home to an abundance of birdlife.
