239 guests' feedbackLovely place and slept very peacefully.
The old fashioned house that is so unique, and we had a great stay. Accommodation was clean and tidy. Kitchen well equipped.
Comfortable, clean and cozy.
Very neat and quiet. Very nice stay.
The room was particularly well tidy. The hostess went out of her way to meet our needs.
We had a really nice stay. Beautiful place.
Comfortable and very quaintly decorated.
Lovely peaceful atmosphere. Friendly hostess.
It's a cute unit (cottage 4) with kitchen, dining and sitting facilities and it was tidy. The owners received us kindly and informed us about the facilities. Outside is a nice space with a canopy with seating, a nice "splash pool" and braai area which is surrounded by a wooden fence and garden that gives privacy.
Loved our stay in the cutest little cottage. Loved the little splash pool and the fenced off little garden at the back. Will definitely be back.
Karrigan was a great host. We wanted for nothing. Kind and friendly. Everything was clean, neat and tidy.
Just a very pleasant and very beautiful place.
It is a beautiful place and we were kindly received by the hostess. Will definitely stay there again. It will be good enough for a sleepover as well as a few days getaway.
Very relaxed, smooth. Easy-going host and cottage that reflects Brakdakkie style of Karoo houses, with everything we needed.
Very cute place and well equipped. Had a lovely stay.
Very pleasant stay and everything you need. Most beautiful decor.
We stayed in Cottage 1 and were very happy with our stay. Everything was neat and beautiful, you could see they put a lot of thought into decorating Brakdakkie Guest Cottages with unique decor and looking after guests' comfort. The cottage is spacious with everything one could need for a few nights' stay.
The place was nice and perfect; however, with the change in weather and season, I would suggest more frequent fumigation. We had to get rid of a few spiders.
Very neat and clean.
Quirky and authentic Karoo guesthouse with all the necessities.
Yes, it was nice. No TV and no WiFi.
We chose Brakdakkie Guest Cottages as we were on our way back home after a holiday in Cape Town. Everything was well-appointed for self-catering, and there was even a plunge pool to cool off after a hot day.
Nice quiet and peaceful place to stay.
Clean and tidy, friendly reception.
We had a very nice stay. The small pool is perfect for cooling off in the heat. Good overnight place for one or two nights.
A comfortable stay with clever upcycling of old household items for decor. Lack of WiFi a bit of a downside.
Very rustic premises adorned with sundry memorabilia. Clean and functional. Limited communication with hosts (we understand one was ill however).
Very nice and comfortable.
Very neat place in a quiet area. Splash pool was a winner for the heat. Sheltered porch blocked the wind well.
This is her direct feedback: "Mom, I love this place! Thank you so much. We really must remember this place in the future."
Characterful old building with time bound decoration.
Welcome, homely and beautiful. Own swimming pool and braai area was a big plus.
Had a lovely stay. Beautiful place. Will definitely go there again.
When you step in, you immediately notice that the owners have a talent for decoration. Everything has been put together with such care to create a wonderful atmosphere inside and outside the accommodation, from the unique, rough yellowwood ceilings to the handmade wire grills on the wall by the barbecue area. For us it was fantastic to wake up in the Karoo to the crowing of chickens, turkeys, geese and a donkey or two. My wife also thinks it's the nicest bath she's ever bathed in.
We enjoyed our stay very much. Kerrigan was an excellent host and our dogs enjoyed it even more than us.
We slept very well on good quality mattresses and bedding. The cooling tub outside is a big plus for tired bodies after the long drive in the Karoo heat. Brakdakkie is tastefully furnished with the cutest accessories that definitely blend in with the lovely surroundings at the foot of the Black Mountains. Thank you very much.
Loved Brakdakkie Cottages. The hosts are super friendly and helpful.
The rooms are spacious, tastefully furnished and lacking in anything you could ask for.
We really enjoyed our stay. The accommodation was very neat and everything we needed was there. Would recommend it.
The accommodation was very neat and the Victorian bath a nice treat. We are not sure if there was WiFi, did not see codes. The only negative of the unit is that there is only one small window in the bathroom, which can open. It is a very cute unit, but on a warm evening the few windows are a problem. The wind was very strong and we could not leave the doors open. However, the accommodation was good and the kitchen nicely furnished. We got the feel of the Greek islands.
Very interesting decor. Nice and cool.
Clean and tidy with very cute decor. Good barbecue and good sleep.

Would be nice for a summer stayover.
Brakdakkie had everything we needed and was clean and comfortable. A lovely stay.
Accommodation fits in nicely with the village's Karoo atmosphere. Note that the splash pools do not currently have water in them due to a problem with town water.
Very nice place and very neat. Maybe they should just think about solar for the load shedding. Got there with no power and woke up in the morning with no power. Very hot without a fan.
Nice stay, unfortunately visited Prince Albert in a very hot time. Fan didn't help much, would recommend an air conditioner more. Still value for money and very centrally located. Also a small pool to cool off in.
It's not really our taste, and the location is not ideal. A shower or hand shower would be great. It was clean and tidy, the decor is very interesting and matches the old fashioned house, but only if that's your taste. I personally would not stay there more than one day.
The cottage was quaint and very old world, but lacked nothing that we needed. Load shedding did not help, but we coped. The bed was firm and comfortable, and the ambience of the room took us back to our childhoods. A very pleasant experience.
The decor is so old world and incredibly functional. Hospitality deserves a 10.
Brakdakkie Guest Cottages is nice overnight accommodation - private with a nice braai and you can experience the Karoo silence in Prince Albert. Will stay there again.
Recommend it to anyone!
Was very neat and clean and Fielies was so safe. Stayed even longer.
An absolute must for any traveler!
Very neat and clean, pleasantly surprised.
Central with easy access to all parts of town.
The decor of the unit is lovely. We will definitely come again.
Nothing more to say.
We had a great stay and the room was clean and tidy. My only problem was that I never met my host. Our only communication was through WhatsApp. Although he answered all my questions, it would have been nice to meet him and exchange a few words.
Nice farm feeling, accommodation is very pleasant. The chickens in the morning are wonderful.
The accommodation was clean and tidy, with a cute little garden and private "splash pool" which was lovely in the heat. Would definitely recommend and stay there again.
Old fashioned decor yet modern. One recommendation a shower could be built for older people who have difficulty getting into the bath.
We especially liked the enclosed garden with its braai area and splash pool. It creates a very comfortable and private atmosphere. The grill has seen better days. Because we experienced power problems during our stay (Eskom) it may be possible to provide gas stove and rechargeable lights for future guests. Candles are not always so convenient.
Clean and tidy.
Everything was great, the cottage was lovely and cosy, we loved it!
Beautiful little cottage with gorgeous and creative Karoo decor! Such a comfortable and peaceful stay.
We stayed there for 4 nights and it was lovely. Our cottage no. 4 has a nice barbecue area right in front of the cottage with a fence for enough privacy. Would definitely recommend it.
Nice Karoo accommodation, nice and close to the town to be able to walk there. Private and peaceful.
With a private porch with braai facilities and canopy, which is cordoned off making it ideal for pets.
See stars.
The plunge pool and roof fan were a bonus.

Very interesting place at a fair price. Friendly reception. Good advice for dinner. The Swartberg Hotel makes delicious food and it is very neat and stylish there.
Everything was perfect and clean.
The self-catering cottage steals your heart at first sight. Everything needed for your comfort is provided and the coffee, tea, milk and biscuits are appreciated. There is even a private swimming pool and a nice braai boma. Love the "ambiance".
Quiet place. Comfortable.
Special place with lots of character. Swimming pool very nice in summer heat. Was also willing to let us in earlier.
What a great place! The tranquil atmosphere makes you want to return at any time.
Thank you for a very nice place where we could overnight.
Cosy, characterful place with unique decorations that made the stay special. The private plunge pool was a lifesaver during two very hot days. Insects were troublesome, but guest house provided repellents. Unit 3's braai facilities could improve.
It was a beautiful cottage and very private with everything you need to stay one or two nights.
It would've been nice if the windows had latches. The house was very hot and the windows kept slamming shut. The cold water tap at the basin also didn't work. Otherwise it was nostalgic.
Would have liked someone to refill the toilet paper once and empty the kitchen bin once as we were there for 3 nights. Also felt it was unfair that one unit had electric blankets but not the other unit. But houses are very nicely decorated, kitchens very well equipped and lovely beds. Also very nice braai/meeting places.
Would recommend, very neat and clean. The swimming pool is just what one needs.
We enjoyed our stay at Brakdakkie Cottages. The splash pool was lifesaving in the hot weather we had while in Prince Albert.
Brakdakkie is slightly away from the town center so I had to either drive there, or walk a bit which is not so nice/nice. The other issue is that the place doesn't have WiFi - I didn't even look out for it because all places have it these days. Furthermore, it is peaceful, beautiful, nice and quiet and the place is very cutely decorated with antiques and implements. I think it's a nice place for a few days.
Nice stay. Maybe a bit far for a walk to upper town.
We had a great time. The hostess was very helpful and the rooms are very nicely and stylishly decorated. Will come back again.
It was a wonderful experience to stay in Brakdakkie. Everything was very neat. Furniture is beautiful! I would recommend it.
What a pleasant surprise. Very impressed by the decor. They put in a lot of effort. We shall be back.
Beautiful, clean stay with the most beautiful decor and friendly owners!
Old fashioned charm at its best. Great relax.
As in the past, very very good and hyper clean.
We had a great stay! The advice on mosquito spray was very helpful! Just a pity it wasn't warm enough for us to swim in the 'splash pool'!
Place with a lot of character and everything you need to have a great time and sleep safely. Interesting things in place.
We had a really nice stay. Lance received us very kindly and really made us feel like we were the most important guests there. The innovative decoration is fun and nostalgic. You can feel the pride in the cottage. The hospitality and service is indescribable, because to be woken up at 23:00 for a two-point plug (we forgot ours and urgently needed to charge the phones) and to give us one with a smile - wow! Lance and Kerrigan, your place is beautiful and we really enjoyed it. You will surely see us again next year. Thank you very much!
Unique and very stylish. Extremely neat and comfortable. Hours on stoep and next to braai area. Will definitely stay there again.
I like beautiful things but this Brakdakkie was the most beautiful! There is not the smallest thing that has not been done with care and cleanliness and good taste. The bed is wonderfully big - the pillows nice and soft, biscuits in a little bottle, magazines to read and the most amazing shower. You have to experience it yourself to fully appreciate it. I just wanted to stay there forever - you get more than five stars with us. Thank you very, very much!
Brakdakkies offer a wonderful place to rest. It's simple, but stylish, and has all the basic amenities (immersion pot for ground coffee, fridge, microwave, heater, electric blankets). Just bring a small bottle of milk for the fridge and wood for the fire pit/braai. We were in and out in a flash and absolutely enjoyed it.
The accommodation was different from normal with beautiful and original decor and we would definitely recommend it for an overnight stay or even a two to three night visit to Prince Albert. The cottage was very clean, comfortable, private and very safe.
Thank you very much. It was a lovely weekend, the house is cozy and beautifully furnished. Thank you very much. Had a great time.
Found the whole site interesting, very fine selection of "lying around items" was an impression of creating a long time ago. The decoration and detail in the residence is top notch, we could see that a lot of effort had been made but not too much at all, 10 out of 10! Very cool with those thick walls.
It was he first time we visited Prince Albert. It was lekker.
The self-catering unit is spacious and tidy. The splash pool outside is a nice experience and you feel as if you have gone back in time on your own.
Brakdakkie is a stunning and neat place to rest for a weekend. Kerri and Lance are friendly and helpful. The cottage has an interesting interior and the bed and down duvet were great. You feel at home and the decor- especially the "long drop" with the pumpkin on its roof - is stunning!
Very clean with good mattresses and white bedding with down-soft duvets. Everything needed to make food. Particularly interesting decor and a lot of attention has been paid to detail.
Beautiful stay. Well appointed. Innovative use of old household items in other ways, eg old scales converted into bedside lamps. Just off the main street. So close to everything but quiet.
My stay at Brakdakkie was not wow. The accommodation was neat and clean, but this is a basic requirement anyway. There was coffee, tea, sugar and biscuits, but no milk. I know it's self-catering, but we're coming from Durbanville for just one night. A bag of milk powder or cup of fresh milk in the fridge can be considered by the owners. However, my biggest disappointment was the shower that didn't drain. We had to cut our showers short otherwise the water would run out into the room. It is extremely unpleasant to stand in such a shower. I informed the owner before we left that the shower was not draining.
Too many objects on the drive-way, resulting in car scratches. Paths within the residence suddenly blocked off with logs following children's cycling, thus children could no longer cycle.
Nobody receives you. Left the key at the front door. Had to look for our house number. Spiders and cockroaches run around everywhere. Couldn't wait for it to be light outside to get out of there.
Our stay was very special from the moment we arrived. The little things that were paid attention to were special for us, a cold fridge filled with ice trays as well as the cleanliness of the whole room was noticeable. Compliments for the good taste and use of ancient antiques together with new elements. There was also plenty of crockery (of good quality) and even nice wine glasses as we prefer. Thank you!
Simple, but value for money in a place where you are taken back in time.
We can highly recommend staying here. Clean and comfortable. The host filled the splash pool for my kids - a lovely gesture as it was 38 'C temperatures. Do yourself a favour and stay here - the pictures are spot-on.
Hospitable, friendly, peaceful. Very well equipped. Clean, neat. Everything just fantastic.
We once again had a great time at Brakdakkie. Reception is friendly and efficient. The unit is well equipped and very tidy. We used the braai place and could choose whether we wanted to eat inside or outside. No TV, bliss!
Great hospitality, safe, tranquil, value for money. If you need a break this is the place, make sure you stay more than one evening.
We will definitely stay here again!
Very welcoming host/hostess who greeted us when we drove through the gate. Everything was so beautiful and neat and very interesting. Definitely recommend it 100% and will definitely go back!
We were received very kindly. Felt very welcome and everything was painfully neat. Literally thought of everything to make guests' stay comfortable. Very nice and private. Quiet and peaceful. Will stay there again for sure.
We stayed here for two days and it was very pleasant. All the units are tastefully furnished in typical country style. Highly recommend.
We really loved the accommodation. The decor was beautiful and it was very clean and neat. I will highly recommend Brakdakkie when visiting Prince Albert.
Karoo silence, friendly host and everything needed to ensure a comfortable stay. The decor is unique and specific to the karoo. A wonderful experience.
We stayed on Cottage 4 for two nights and really enjoyed the accommodation. The decor is really cute and very creative. Owner was nice enough. Comfortable and warm.
Really nice to spend the night here. Everything needed for a breakaway.
See the ratings.
Clean, everything you need for a nice Karoo experience. Cute decor, nice tongue in cheek.
Very nice, clean. Can pay attention to barbecue grills. Can't set height, grids very old.
Mosquito's are a problem! Proposal: a mosquito-net over the bed for a peaceful night's rest.
If you like old-world charm, artiness, neatness, you will be in awe of all the interesting things inside and in the gardens, surrounded by farm sounds, wonderful braai and kuier. Brakdakkie is your ideal destination.
We had a very nice stay. The cottage has everything one needs. The weather was not on our side, but I think you can have a good barbecue and hang out outside on the stoep. When the drought is over and it's nice and warm I think it's great in the splash pool!
For the price one expects hairdryer, air conditioning and sometimes TV.
Brakdakkies are very cutely done with delicious amenities. We had a nice barbecue and had a good time there. Children had fun playing with the cat and geese at the pond. Friendly and helpful owners also live on site. Will stay there again.
Nice room, well-equipped kitchen, small splash pool is perfect!
Comfortable. Just a pity the room didn't have a shower.
Comfortable accommodation for one or two nights. Basic amenities only. Clean and tidy.
Gehou van die plaas atmosfeer. Dalk bietjie baie goggas.
We really enjoyed our stay. Unique and stunning decor. The plunge ppol was welcomingly refreshing in the summer heat. Thank you to our hosts.
Can recommend them without a doubt.
This was truly an experience. Brakdakkie offers excellent value for money. Well equipped, old worldly style and attention to detail. Communication re the booking was professional and thorough. I recommend this place with a clean conscience!
Both units were neat, clean and exquisite. Well equipped and attention was paid to the small things. Good value.
It is very creatively furnished and equipped with all necessities. Very clean and tidy. Great mattresses and good linen. The location is wonderfully peaceful and plenty of safe parking. Will recommend.
The decor is very original. Although it creates an old-world feel, the amenities are luxurious and the linens are of good quality. We are so sorry that we only spent 1 night here but will definitely want to lay our head down on one of their pillows again. We recommend Brakdakkie to anyone looking for accommodation in Prince Albert.
Very nicely restored house that is very clean. Everything you need is available. Friendly and helpful owner. Will definitely stay there again and recommend it.
Every room has a wonderful atmosphere. Everything you need is in the room. It is a nice place to come and relax.
I'm also looking for such a "shabby chic" house! This beautiful gem of a place is not only incredibly beautiful, peaceful, quiet and a real hideaway (if you're looking for one), but is close enough to the happenings of the popular village. It made me fall in love with this beautiful destination. We will definitely come back until we have spent the night in all 4 units of Brakdakkie!
Friendly and professional service. Each unit is beautifully and characterfully finished with a sense of tranquility. Ideal B&B and village to break away from everyday life.
We were received friendly and room was neat and ready on arrival. We enjoyed the stay and the pool is great to cool down on a hot day. Thank you for making our stay effortless. Will stay there again.
See the stars.
I am very satisfied and had a wonderful stay.
Very nice people, very nice place. We enjoyed our too short stay!
Incredible gem that not too many people should know about. We want to keep the place to ourselves. The decor has been done with so much care and the intimate and private swimming pool offers the perfect escape if the Karoo heat becomes too unbearable.
It was wonderful to go home to brakdakkie. Everything was perfect. The welcome flower meant a lot to us, it was special. The rusk was the extra that made everything so special. The little things make everything worthwhile - it shows they care about their guests. It was all so clean and tidy. Thank you so much for the wonderful time!
We arrived at a beautiful, tiny, special cottage. Everything was perfect, especially the fan which helped to keep the mosquitoes away.
Brakdakkies are amazing! We can 100% recommend this for a great overnight stay / holiday. Prince Albert is a beautiful little town with lots to see and do.
Would recommend the accommodation anytime. Everything an overnight traveler needs is there.
We had a lovely stay at Brakdakkie. The place is without airs and truly Klein Karoo, full of character but still practical, relaxing and private.
One immediately feels at home. We had a nice barbecue and the swimming pool was a treat in the exceptionally hot weather. It would have been ideal if the room had air conditioning.
I couldn't stop staring at the detail. Really excellent value for money.
Beautiful country atmosphere for any city slicker. Very neat and clean. Artistically decorated. All our needs were met and it was completely equipped with everything from a heater to hot water bottles for cold weather. Fully equipped kitchen with coffee, tea and rusks. Good value for money. The family cottage is even perfect for 4 girlfriends who doesn't mind sharing a room. Thanks so much.
Feel free to see the stars.
Very nice and comfortable! Friendly service too.
Really beautiful decor and a very welcome splash pool as it was very very hot, the rooms were all very clean. The only thing they need to do is put in doom spray or something to kill the mosquitoes they were unbearable even if they used those plug in ones it would help. One couple travelling with us weren't happy to be told to go to the shop to buy milk as there wasn't any provided with the tea and coffee - we were on bikes and had travelled in 40 degree heat wave from Cape Town. But otherwise a vey nice stop over.
We slept in No. 2. Had a good night's rest. All the accommodation is done in the same style. I would recommend Brakdakkie. The only negative for me was that the inner shutters (which serve as curtains) don't close properly - there are chinks between the slats.
As above. Fascinated by the garden.
It can be accepted that the character of the cottages must be maintained but security can be strengthened by installing sensible burglar bars at the window and a more practical access gate to the premises. The climate justifies air conditioning in the units.
Very nice and comfortable!
Beautiful house and very well furnished, but the town is very noisy. A church group was holding a service somewhere in town over loudspeakers that we could barely hear each other talking as we sat outside. Firewood is provided, but it was very difficult to get the fire going as there are no fire starters, fine wood or ax to split logs with. They don't provide that.
Very nice stay, Lance and Kerri are very helpful and the unit is fully equipped. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a break to the Karoo!
The décor is fascinating and really different in all respects. One very important issue which we felt was essential and which has been overlooked, is the absence of airconditioning in one of the hottest spots in summer in SA.
Enjoyed the fact that there were no TV. Would recommend to people wanting a different self catering experience.
See the stars.
Quaint, clean place but I only recommend it for summer. Room very cold and this could have been avoided if owners added heaters. There should be more than one in winter. And a carpet in front of the bed, the cement floors are nice, but very cold. It made the stay uncomfortable.
Owner is not customer service minded. She did not offer to share information about Prince Albert at all. It was fine for us, but for people visiting the town for the first time, they would have to rely on Zomato and Informasie to give them information. No place to hang clothes. Will be difficult if you have to stay for more than one night without hanging space.
Unfortunately I expected more. The place was cosy, clean with beautiful decor, but cramped. Small aspects with our stay could have made it more pleasant compared to other self-catering units on our trip. Given the price, good freshly baked biscuits, quality branded coffee and better toiletries would have completed the picture.
Typical old Karoo lifestyle experience. Definitely a getaway for people who want to get away from modern technology.
Very peaceful, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. We are caravanners and like our privacy. Brakdakkie absolutely lived up to it. It is recommended and we will stay there again in the future.
Excellent reception. We had a wonderful stay, very neat and clean house and thoroughly enjoyed the seven days.
The layout of the place and decor is fantastic. There is everything you need in the unit. Secure parking and a peaceful environment. Only negative point is that there are no electric warm blankets on beds.
The Guest Cottage was fairytale beautiful and very well equipped! We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience!
This charming little guest cottage was beautifully decorated with such flair and charm and made our short stay in Prince Albert so memorable. We certainly will be staying there again. Well done Brakdakkie, you get our vote.
Comfortable and neatly furnished.
Will definitely use Brakdakkie again in the future.
Lance and Kerry have restored these cottages with the utmost love and respect and the decor is absolutely unique - we as guests really appreciated it. The cottage is equipped with everything for a lovely stay and very clean. The "splash" is a wonderful experience after a very hot day on the road, or walking around town. It was our first visit to the beautiful Prince Albert, and our stay made it even more special. Peaceful farm atmosphere. Food for the soul. Thank you for a special time.
The concept of old implements used as interior and exterior decoration is unique and makes for a unique farm experience. "Outbuildings" (stable/barn) have been cleverly converted into comfortable accommodation areas with necessary facilities. We would definitely recommend it.
This is the cleanest, most beautiful place I've visited in a long time. The pool is an incredibly cute idea. I give 110% for the place.
The cottage was well prepared and charming. Lance was very accommodating. It serves as an ideal couples' break away. We visited in the winter (without snow on the mountains yet). It would be the perfect winter cottage if there were a slow combustion fireplace or dover stove for heating. I would recommend Brakdakkie to anyone looking to experience the charm of Prince Albert, especially given the lovely décor of the cottage.
It was very beautiful, nice and private and beautiful. Neat and equipped with all possible amenities.
A lot of painstaking work has gone into creating these cottages with many quirky and delightful decorative touches to make them feel like homes from home - the outdoor splash pools are particularly welcome in the high summer temperatures.
Since we stayed in Graaff-Reinet for 10 years at one point, we felt at home in the countryside again.
Around every corner there is an interesting farm implement: An old bed or old chair. We squinted.
Very nice artistic place. Everything neat and well taken care of. Clean interesting and everything a traveler needs. Thank you very much for a pleasant stay.
The baby pool was the greatest pleasure in the hot Karoo.
Very pleasant stay. Impeccably tidy.
Definitely not everyday, close to the high street and places to eat. In someone's backyard. Would prefer a pack of wood for the fire. The duck pond is annoying and there are a lot of mosquitoes. Otherwise it was neat, clean and good value for money.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time in the very well maintained unit. Everything was in order and extremely clean and tidy. Maybe a little cold, but that was the least of it. The host and lady were very nice and we soon felt at home.
We enjoyed our stay and found the B&B to be very clean with unusual and quirky decor. We were met by the owner who was friendly and helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. The little kitchen area was well equipped and the room comfortable.
Our cottage was very clean, comfortable and well-equipped with everything needed for self-catering. The decor was quirky - recycled items. We were somewhat taken aback by our reception. It was rather cold. Perhaps the hosts were having an off day. Apart from that everything was fine.
We were kindly received and enjoyed the stay.
Brakdakkie Guest Cottages is a little out of town, but still walking distance from everything. The decor is Karoo-chic and very original.
Grandpa and Grandma stayed in one cottage [double bed] and Dad and Mom and 2 kids stayed in another one [sleeps four]. We were surprised with the ingenuity of the dressing of the accommodation and yard with the use of old rusted things that were brilliantly reused. We slept wonderfully warm in well-maintained rooms and beds, where the use of old things around bedside lamps, toilet roll holders, corrugated iron wall in shower, kettle lampshades, etc., only added to the charm. The kitchens were a bit skimpy, but I think the pools must be a treat in the summer.
We just slept over, and it was as mentioned - average. On the plus side it is very clean. Hosts would come back over breakfast but never heard from them. Ricoffy packets for coffee - not up to standard. Would I stay there again? If I don't find something better, yes.
I was particularly struck by all the antiques in Brakdakkie... lovely, quiet surroundings and clean facilities.
Quiet and neat. A place where you can relax.
I would prefer to stay closer to the town center if I come again.
The door and windows could not be closed well enough to keep out insects during the night. A repellant was provided but a mosquito net would have been much better. We missed a shower, we are not really the bathing types. Although "interesting", the old stuff theme did not do anything in the way of comfort. Europeans are apparently much taller judging by the length of the bed (and in this case the size of the doors - though this was probably part of the old stuff theme).
Our host made us feel very welcome and answered all our questions. Recycling old rusty implements to make lamps was inspiring. The children especially loved their lamps made from old cups. The small pool which could just about fit all 4 of us was a winner. We will definitely visit there again.
Host spared no effort to make it pleasant for us.
My family and I stayed two nights in Brakdakkie in Prince Albert in July 2014. It is a very neat place, with one double bed and two single beds. Towels and bed linen are provided, and the kitchen has everything you need. The owners are very friendly, and provide fresh milk, juice and biscuits every day. There is also coffee and tea in the kitchen. It is wonderful to enjoy biscuits on the porch in the morning in the Karoo sun, with the chickens that come to visit you! It is a nice quiet environment, and one feels very safe. The town and its people charmed us. We will definitely go there again.
We would recommend Brakdakkie anytime. We were very impressed with the farm atmosphere and the genuine, old-fashioned atmosphere. It was very peaceful and just far enough out of town.
Quaint cottage in Prince Albert.
We stayed in Brakdakkie for 4 days. What an experience! It is a very unique place. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The interior decoration is exceptional and the place is also very clean. We will definitely come again.

Great hosts that made the guest cottages into uber stylish rooms! Definitely a trip worth!!
Very clean and quaint different cottages.
What a lovely surprise. Real old world charm. Everything was so beautiful and neat. Really enjoyed the splash pool. Will definitely go back again but this time for longer.
Brakdakkie is newly built and its fittings are inventive. There is a small splash pool which will be lovely in the summer. Please keep keep in mind that everything is open plan, that means the double bed and two single beds are in one room, which is ideal for a family, but maybe a little "too close for comfort" for couples or friends.
It was very hot that day and there is no air conditioning in the rooms. The one window is also too small for the size of the room. The door can be opened for fresh air at night, but there is no burglar alarm. For overnight it is good for the price you pay.
The photo gives a fair indication of how comfortable the bed is and how the decorations look. There is a microwave and a fridge, but we went to eat in the hotel's Victoria Room on the advice of the owner and did not regret it. The water was hot, the taps were working, and the room was pitch black thanks to the solid shutters. The next morning we were able to tackle the Swartberg Pass rested.
Accommodation is good enough for an overnight stay...basic needs provided. The host and hostess were very unfriendly.
Keep in mind that this time of year you may experience a heat wave or a plague of mosquitoes - but the town and surroundings are really beautiful.
Everything was neat and clean. The establishment is very special and creatively furnished. It's in a safe environment.

A very cute and "quirky" atmosphere... and a lovely cool outdoor bath after a hot day!
We only stayed one night at Brakdakkie. It was a good experience. Everything was neat and clean. Well done!!! Just pay attention to please to ask for the room with a shower if you prefer a shower to a bath.

It's a spacious room with all the luxuries you need in an old-fashioned atmosphere. We really enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone.
We had a wonderful stay, close to everything and safe.

Brakdakkie gave us all we wanted: stylish and clean accommodation with a difference. Our hosts have gone to much trouble to establish retro Karoo decor. The room is beautiful and made us feel at home. In summer the splash pool will come in handy. We enjoyed the privacy of the separate cottages and the fact that there was no TV! Value for money. An automatic entrance gate would have perfected our stay.
A very peaceful, quiet farm atmosphere. The room's decor is very original and artistic. Good value for money. A bit away from town centre, but Prince Albert is not that big after all.
What a quiet treat! Love it, it's so cute, thanks Lance and Kerrie!

Clean and safe.
Just wonderful - with lovely, helpful hosts!
A big thank you to Kerri and Lance for being so willing to accommodate our Golden Retriever. The authenticity of the decor and attention to detail makes Brakdakkie very special. Highly recommendable.
