We had a great time staying in this beautiful farmhouse. Everything we needed was available in the house. The whole setup on the farm is very neat. Thank you, Eliza! Your place is truly special.
Very peaceful in a quiet location well away from anyone. Pieter and Elizna went out of their way to ensure that we had a pleasant stay. WiFi was available at the office but not at the house.
The cottage next to the pond is perfect for a break in the countryside.
Know you are on solar for power, but you might think of rechargeable bedside lamps. Furthermore, we enjoyed the fireplace with your delicious bags of wood and that table in front of the fire. The many bathrooms are a big plus.
It was a down to earth basic accommodation. The location, the views, the ambience were superb. We enjoyed the rustic feel. We do feel though that compared to other accommodation on our trip, it was overpriced, but understand that it was flower season. We did feel that they could have laid on drinking water, but we were warned.
See stars.
A splendid stay in the isolated little hut. Primitive, but with all you need to spend a couple of days in the middle of nowhere. It was the second time we stayed in the hut, and we would love to come back again.
Quiet farm life with beautiful stargazing in the evening.
We stayed in the old cottage, which is in desperate need of a facelift when we saw the cottage the other half of our group stayed in!
Elizna and Pieter were wonderful hosts and a highlight was the boerekos dinner served. Delicious.
We stayed there for 2 nights. It was delicious and nothing fancy. No electricity, but solar lights, and gas geysers work well. Everything is there that is needed for a comfortable stay.
Lovely farm cottage with people whose hearts beat warm! The meat parcels were delicious.
Friendly and hospitable owners.
No power sockets, so modern gadgets are not an option over a couple of nights' stay. Gas fridge which is not as cold as a modern equivalent. Wifi range very limited - no normal cell phone signal. Beds very comfortable and warm. Lovely large fire in the lounge and farm wood burns hot and long. Very clean and owners are very friendly and helpful.
The accommodation is very "rustic" and the tourist should not expect any luxuries. The showers do not have a door or curtain in front, so the floor is wet every time. The indoor grill is great especially during cold weather.
Pieter and Elizna are friendly people who made you feel welcome right away. Everything was perfect from the view to the down duvets. This is a must on everyone's wish list.
Wonderful visit, owners so hospitable and helpful. Wonderful stay, so peaceful, linen good quality and meals are delicious. Would love to return one day. Many thanks Pieter and Elizna for a lovely few days.
As a family group, we had a fantastic time visiting Brandkop. The house is spacious and well furnished, and the down duvets kept us wonderfully cozy. Eliza and Pieter made us feel very welcome, and I can highly recommend the braai suits and farm bread. We would love to visit there again.
Elizna and Pieter were incredibly hospitable. We had a great meal with them on Wednesday evening and their young daughters were perfect waitresses. The house was basic but stylishly furnished and finished. For an authentic Karoo farm experience would highly recommend.
Lovely farm location, in nature. Their restaurant makes very good food. Beds were comfortable. But house needs renovation. There was a massive hole in the wall, with soil falling out. Kitchen is very basic equipped. Grill was dirty, with no way to clean it. No WiFi, no electrical plugs, water is undrinkable. These three facts are only communicated once you have finished booking. Only one of the bathrooms' geysers worked.
My mother grew up on the adjacent farm. The house is no longer standing, but it was lovely to be so close to it. Our accommodation was neat, clean and comfortable. Nice owners. Will visit again.
Elizma and Pieter are two people with broad farming hearts and generous hospitality. The children immediately made friends and played the farm flat. The large farmhouse provided for long visits and nice fireplace barbecues. The meat we bought from them was delicious. The feathers were cuddly and the view of the mountains soul-nourishing. You don't leave here without a piece of your heart not being left behind.
Will definitely stay there again.
A very nice farmhouse, ideal for 8 people. Delicious down duvets for the cold and fireplace fires made our stay wonderful. The farm is well located for flower viewing and driving around.
Brandkop Guest Farm is well furnished and overflows with friendliness and comfortable beds.
Shepherds cottage. Neat, clean and nicest fire-place in the house.
The stars were amazing.
Lovely spacious clean unit. Unit has two rooms each with a bathroom. Indoor fireplace for the cold nights and outdoor barbecue on the porch. The solar power was more than enough to keep the lights on in the evenings.
Wish more people would choose the more quiet routes and stay at gems like Brandkop. Here you become one with nature again. Peace, quiet and a sky full of stars.
There are many attractions in the area. There are only a lot of mosquitoes that make it impossible to enjoy the delicious stoep and barbecue. Luckily we took mosquito spray with us.
Stay safe and in the good care of Elizna and Piet who will take care of all your accommodation needs.
Very cute little house, although it was not what I booked. I booked a cottage in the field with a view, but got one that was on the farmyard and we didn't like it. The owners are very very friendly and helpful.
A cosy little cottage located some 3 km from the main farm house - next to the famous quiver tree forest. Unfortunately there were no flowers when we visited the place - due to lack of rain. But still a very nice place to relax and enjoy the panoramic view.
Very neat accommodation with everything you need. The braai places inside and outside are very convenient. If you love the Karoo, this is just the place for deep soul rest - dead quiet with a special farm atmosphere. Sunrise and sunset unforgettable. Kokerboom forest in bloom is around the corner and was exceptional. Thank you very much, Pieter and Elizna. We come again.
It was wonderful to be able to enjoy the silence again. The house has everything you need and the owners are very friendly people who are ready if anything is needed.
We wanted to go flower-watching in Nieuwoudtville. Then scorching heat and gale force winds travelled with us. We saw few flowers, but experienced the hospitality of the people; and we saw the heartbreaking drought. We understand that tourism is now critically important, and we like to support Pieter and Elisma van Brandkop. Our stay and experience was so much more than we expected! Thank you for showing us your life.
What made Brandkop unique for us is the location of house no. 2 while we really felt very much at home. The fact that there is no 220v electricity added to the uniqueness of our stay, we were still able to prepare delicious dishes on the gas stove while the indoor fire kept us wonderfully warm in the cold. The cottage is nicely furnished and catered for all our needs. I can really recommend Brandkop to the visitor who likes silence and the farm atmosphere. I would love to return there again.
The house was very neatly and comfortably furnished. Everything needed was there and in good condition. The simplicity has a charm. One or two points of criticism - the double bed duvet is too small for taller persons and the couch by the fireplace's armrest will soon be occupied by those who want to get close to the fire. In short very good management and communication with owners ahead of time was 100%.
If you love the Karoo's silence, sunsets, sunrises, beautiful stars and being alone, then this place is for you. I would like to go again one day, once it has rained. The photo above attracted me - it's extremely dry at the moment, no greenery.
F you are looking for solitude, this is the ideal spot. Dramatic Karoo scenery. Accommodation is basic. Two bedrooms but no ceilings and little privacy. Bath towels supplied but no hand towels or soap. Crockery supply was exactly 4 of each item so it you need a spare plate there isn't one. Dishwashing liquid was watered down drastically and minimum was supplied. Bedroom floor could have done with a good sweep. Solar power for lighting and gas for appliances and heating water - great for the occasion but no facility for charging camera batteries, phones etc. Area is not on the grid as far as internet and phones are concerned - also not a problem to experience this.
We really enjoyed everything: the clean facilities, the hospitality, safe environment and nature. The host and hostess are very accommodating and intent on giving guests room for movement on the farm and giving every member of the party, especially children, a pleasant stay. We didn't want to leave Brandkop. The playing and the visit were just too much fun. I look forward to my next visit.
My daughter really enjoyed the hospitality.
Very friendly and welcoming hosts. Do not interfere with our daily routine. Fantastic braai packs made available.
Lovely stay in perfect isolation. Well appointed accommodation with everything one could need. The indoor fireplace/braai was much appreciated. Only few suggestions: tell guests to bring their own drinking water (“brak” water) and please provide either an extra thinner duvet or more blankets. The beautiful goose down duvet was much too hot and heavy - even with very low night time temperature.
Truly was the best farm accommodation ever! Thank you very, very much!
Really enjoyed and sunrise and sunset were beautiful. Kind people made up for no flowers and dry ponds.
Quiet environment. Cute little house with hot shower and comfortable beds. Very friendly people. We are just waiting for the rain, then we will visit again. Thanks to Elizna and Pieter.
