Accommodation at Brandrivier comprises 3 individually tented units, which can accommodate 2 to 4 persons. These units are furnished with a queen-size bed and/or twin beds, and each tent features an en-suite bathroom with a shower. Each unit has a kitchenette area with basic appliances. All units boast a patio and a gas braai facility.
The hosst provide solar power for charging electronic equipment such as cellphones and laptops only, gas heaters in winter, and field guides describing the Namaqualand flowers in detail. Loadshedding does not affect this accommodation, because it is off-grid.
The farm also has wildlife ranging from springbok, klipspringer and baboons, to porcupines and bat-eared foxes. The sound of the Cape Eagle owl or barn owls at night can be heard frequently.
In the flower season from June to September, a vast variety of flowers can be found on the farm and in surrounding areas. Other interesting plants include the Quiver Tree and Tylecodon paniculatus: known as the Botterboom or the Butter tree.

119 guests' feedbackNow that was fun. Glamping in the middle of the Karoo. It is pitch dark and dead silent at night. Just what we needed. The tent exceeded our highest expectations. Two chocolate cupcakes were on the table when we arrived and we knew for sure that Erika would get her visitors first. And then the bath! And the view when you bathe! Outstanding! Thank you, we had a wonderful rest.
Quiet, peaceful and clean air.
Received very hospitably. It was a privilege to be able to spend the night on the farm in the well-equipped unit. Looking forward to the next time.
This is an amazing place! Highly recommended!
Glamping with a big G! Wonderful setting amidst flowers and nature. Wonderful and helpful hosts. Nice food and magic stars. Perfect place to see Namaqua or enjoy nature.
Very hospitable. We really loved the unit, it had everything we needed and we were comfortable. Our stay was just too short. Can't wait to go back.
Couldn't ask for better. Everything was perfect. The attention to detail was unbeatable.
Clean, excellent outlook, great facilities.
Very neat, between the mountains. Everything you need. Beautiful hiking trails and beautiful flowers. Friendly reception.
Awesome place. Everything as advertised. Beautiful surroundings and great hikes. The only thing lacking is a braai/boma where one can sit around a real fire (there is a gas braai at the moment, but it's just not the same).
We had a truly wonderful stay and the place was clean and tidy. Pieter especially helped us with the gas appliances because we are used to electric appliances. Erika was willing to teach us about the plants by allowing us to walk the farm with her.
Absolutely wonderful. Superb location. Beautiful surroundings. Accommodation clean, nicely decorated and well thought through. Highly recommend.
Beautiful surroundings. Nice and well equipped units. Private.
Clean, beautiful accommodation, head and shoulders above many others! Comfortable, with everything we needed in the most beautiful nature!
Lovely, peaceful time in nature. Meerkat tent comfortable, clean, neat and warm in the midst of cold weather. Fresh muffins and wine a hearty welcome after the long road. Forget hotels and lodges and experience Brandrivier's genuine, personal warmth.
A gem of a place, beautiful location. Clean, tidy, everything you need for a peaceful, simple, yet extremely comfortable, switch off in nature. Friendly owners.
Very private with nice walking place. Solar power works well. Grill works well.
The units are very well furnished, comfortable and we had a great time. Thank you very much and we will definitely come again!
Friendly and helpful host. Ideal place in the mountains to stay longer with the beautiful nature and tranquility. Unit also well equipped. Will stay with you again next time.
The unit is really well equipped. We really enjoyed just being able to relax after a long day on the road with clean facilities.
We spent the night at Brandrivier on our way to the Kgalagadi National Park. We slept wonderfully and the safari tent was very well equipped. We could have enjoyed a longer time there. We highly recommend this accommodation!
The surroundings are beautiful on the farm.
The highlight of the visit at Brandrivier was the view over the hill when I was lying in my bed. Meerkat and Bakoor are beautifully situated, peaceful and private. We climbed the hills and looked at the quiver trees. It's a beautiful world. The tent is cosy, tidy, well equipped and very comfortable. We will definitely stay here again.
This was one of our favorite stops on our long trip. The unit is fantastically equipped and absolutely tidy. The view is beautiful.
The gas braai was very nice gesture, as well as the water fountain and muffin we enjoyed with coffee in the morning.
During our seven days in Bakoor, we experienced all four seasons, including welcome rains, icy cold nights, hot days of full sunshine, and cool cloudy days of wind. Living under canvas in all these conditions, we were cosy, safe, and quite content. The hosts are wonderful. They are friendly, helpful, and will go out of their way to make your stay memorable. We will make every effort to come back again.
We had an amazing stay and beautiful hikes. We stayed two nights and did not leave the property - it is beautiful - even with the flowers just starting. We ordered a meal which was very tasty. The tent is cosy even in winter and has everything needed. The outdoor shower is amazing for a starlit clean-up. The only downside to the location is that the sound of the road carries at night but it is well outweighed by the positives.
Comfortable, well appointed, nice open air shower, beautiful view.
Hidden gem! Will stay here again and again and again. The tent is neat, clean, and has everything you need. The complimentary muffins and bottle of wine was a very nice surprise! 100% recommend!
All the little extras and attention to detail make this a place one would want to return to.
Geyser a bit of a pain to adjust between hot and cold but very beautiful tent and area just peaceful.
It was the most fun on our whole trip. Very beautiful and peaceful.
Well appointed, permanent tent in a beautiful setting including a fantastic outdoor shower. Was disappointed we could not stay longer.
This was the highlight of our trip. The house was incredibly clean and tidy, the location breathtaking, and the service excellent. They have a cute little online shop where you can order farm produce, and also offer food delivery - all of which you can see on their Facebook page. The outdoor shower was also an experience. I will drive 800 km again just to sleep over here.
At Brandrivier you can relax and enjoy the wonderful view.
After a second time at Brandrivier we decided that it would remain part of our itinerary from Namibia. It remains the perfect overnight stop to charge your batteries.
Spectacular setting, fantastic service - went the extra mile to make our stay very special. Can't wait to return.
The ideal place to kick off your shoes after a long day's drive from Namibia and appreciate the unique, peaceful surroundings.
Accommodation was very well equipped. Could just do with a fan for the warm nights. Safe and really enjoyed it.
The setting is beautiful, accommodation extremely comfortable, communication effective.
You won't be able to be closer to nature and all this in a luxury tent. Namaqualand's nature, even in summer, is something special. A fantastic starry sky during the night. Everything needed is available for self-catering.
Amazing accommodation with beautiful views.
Thank you very much, we really enjoyed our stay. Brandrivier's unique accommodation was for sure a highlight for us. The owners, Erika and Pieter, are the friendliest and most considerate people, who will literally bend over backwards for their guests. The tent was spacious, clean and comfortably furnished and everything you need and more was provided. Although there is no WiFi, there is very strong cell phone reception and if you really need to communicate with the outside world, this is no problem. We would definitely recommend Brandrivier for those who want to take a breather and "reset". Do yourself a favor and leave all the electronics in your car, relax and enjoy the unique nature.
Beautiful tented accommodation. The gas heater was a winner and we had a great time around the table. Would definitely recommend.
Great views, very peaceful and well setup tented camp.
Very nice and quiet. Tents are clean and very comfortable.
We have stayed at many places, but Brandrivier is unique in many ways: there is no load shedding; the quality of construction is remarkable; the animal life around the accommodation keeps you busy all day; the optional dinner and the idea of 'eating with the hostess but in your own place'. In addition, it is beautifully located and is generously provided for cold nights.
This safari tented camp has everything you want from a Namaqua holiday spot. Beautiful flowers, clean, comfortable accommodation, and peace and quiet. The little extras just take it to the next level. A wonderful base to explore the area or enjoy the farm itself.
We all agreed that the tent units were exceptionally clean and tidy. Everything needed for self-catering was there. The units' electricity is generated by solar power, so there is no microwave oven and an appliance such as a hair dryer cannot be used. There is a gas geyser for the shower. The environment where the tents are located at the foot of the mountains is beautiful. I had a great time climbing the hill and went to see the quiver trees on the ridge. At the time of our visit there was a particularly strong wind that blew for a whole day, but the tents withstood it very well and we were well sheltered inside! Pieter came to find out if we had survived the wind and was very friendly and helpful with information about the area. We would definitely recommend Brandrivier. Keep up the good work Pieter and Erika!
Breathtaking location! Tent camp well equipped and excellently finished. Despite the cold weather, it was deliciously warm inside the tent. Will recommend it to our friends.
Beautiful remote location and excellent hiking. Tent was very clean and nicely appointed with everything we needed. Had excellent communications from both the website and the owners of the property, making it easy to find the camp and to get set up. Despite the weather, it was warm inside the tent and had a great stay.
We stayed overnight on the way back from Namibia. The accommodation is close to the road and was easily accessible. Beautiful surroundings and the accommodation was very neat and well equipped. Erika was a very good and helpful hostess.
Good stopover between Cape and Namibia.
It was very nice and will be back for sure! Feel so nice isolated from the daily rush! Very neat, and at least it wasn't too hot. Will be back for sure.
We really enjoyed our visit there. Will definitely use it again.
The accommodation is neat and the surroundings are picturesque. Will definitely stay there again.
Very nice place on farm. Tent house in nature. Everything one wants.
We weren't sure what to expect from the tent holiday, given that a previous tent break fell far short. Great was our surprise with the standard of this unit in terms of intelligent layout and equipment and exceptional cleanliness! A further plus was the location and view from the unit between the hills. Can recommend it with confidence!
Beautiful surroundings. We would love to go again.
Very private. Tasteful.
See stars.
It was very nice and nothing to complain about also enjoyed the beautiful surroundings, would like to spend the night there again.
Very beautiful, comfortable, neat clean and safe, could wander for hours in the field, lovely, an unforgettable holiday destination, close to Springbok and could drive out to all the surrounding villages chasing the flowers!
Neat units with all the necessities for a peaceful break in the beautiful Namaqualand.
We thoroughly enjoyed taking photos, barbecuing and being able to relax near a steep rocky hill. The tent is stylishly furnished and it is peaceful and private. If I ever visit the area again I will not hesitate to sleep there again. An unforgettable experience!
Beautiful place with nice views.
We really enjoyed the stay! The bottle of wine was a bonus for us! Gas braai worked well and the shower was lovely. Everything well taken care of!
The tent is well equipped for hot days, but we got cold and there is no way to heat the place. Also you can't use your hair dryer there at all. Why is beyond me. Feel free to also look at the dripping taps. The road noise was also very bad during the night but it was difficult to sleep between the noise and the cold door.
Stunning setting, very clean and well equipped for self catering. One downfall is that you can still hear the N7, but it does get quieter in the night.
Brandrivier satisfied us in every way and even exceeded our expectations. It was wonderful to be able to experience so much beauty in this 'hard' world. We would happily recommend it and will stop there again ourselves. Thank you very much it was delicious!
Brandrivier was our second stay on our tour. Not only was it super neat, but really beautiful. If you go in this direction, don't look any further.
We were truly surprised by the accommodation concept that awaited us on the farm. The units were easily accessible and created a wonderful atmosphere beyond expectations. We were sorry we only spent one night there and look forward to staying longer next time. Thank you very much.
Everything about the accommodation was perfect and the setting very pretty.
We had such a nice stay! Wish we could stay longer. The tranquility, view and bottle of red wine was just what we needed to switch off a bit. I can definitely recommend Brandrivier to anyone.
We stayed in the tented camp. The accommodation is exceptional, spotlessly clean, with lovely kitchen ware, loads of space. We were blown away. The location is private and peaceful and if you like a solitary destination, this is just that. We really enjoyed our stay.
The environment in which the tents are located is breathtakingly beautiful, even if we were a little early for the flowers. The interior is simple, but beautifully decorated. We enjoyed our stay there immensely, and could have easily stayed there for a week. All negative was the shower of water that alternately either burned or froze you. I recommend the place with confidence and would love to stay there again in the future.
Beautiful, neat and well equipped.
Definitely a place to recommend. Very clean and the environment and view is something to experience.
Was very special and an incredibly good night's rest and accommodation was neat and stylish.
Go experience it for yourself people, so quiet and salt of the earth place. Amazing.
Beautiful location, nice and quiet. The apartment was clean, tidy and comfortable, also well equipped with everything you need.
Clean and well furnished tented accommodation very comfortable with all amenities. A complementary bottle of wine and beautiful surroundings.
My wife and I slept here for 2 nights. It is very peaceful and quiet. The tents are very stylish and well equipped with solar power and gas geyser. The kitchen has everything you need, even a fridge.
We had a great stay with everything that we needed. The kids enjoyed the open spaces. Loved the outside shower! Only thing I would change is to have a real braai with wood. A gas braai is not as nice. Everything else was perfect!
Bakoor is very neat, clean and has everything that you need for an overnight stay.
See stars.
Very nice stay. Beautiful quiver trees and breathtaking nature. Feel free to stop by.
Unbelievable tranquility. Just bitterly hot!
We had a great stay! Best tent I've ever stayed in. Can't complain about anything.
Very nice setting, quiet and peaceful and well equipped. Will definitely be back to stay when in that area again.
We had a wonderful time.
Charming and very friendly welcoming hostess. Spotless accommodation with top-notch finishing and excellent plumbing works in a drought stricken part of the country. Comfortable bed and well planned kitchen.
Something special. Attention has been given to every detail to make it as comfortable as possible. From a "welcome" bottle of wine, without the gas heater it would be cold, nice bathroom to well-equipped kitchen. Everything neat, clean and well maintained. And don't forget nature and silence. Price is extremely fair for what you get. Can highly recommend it.
The cleanest and neatest self-catering of our entire holiday. Creative and compact layout, with a beautiful view of the rock formations and vegetation. We were surrounded by flowering figs and daisies. Wish we could have stayed longer and identified all the flowering plants.
Beautiful decor, unsurpassed neat and clean accommodation, nicest bed to sleep in with warmest duvet, fully equipped kitchen, nice shower, beautiful starry sky, would recommend to anyone, friendliest and most helpful service from caretaker.
We really enjoyed the time in Meerkat tent. It was the beginning of the flower season and we saw the most beautiful variety of plants on our walk up the dry river bed. Very neat, fantastic service. Highly recommendable.
Our only problem was finding the place easily, but after that we were surprised to reach this rare place. The place was incredibly neat and everything in its place. Would recommend this accommodation to anyone. The place is very peaceful and special.
The facilities are beautiful, clean, new, tasteful and equipped with everything we needed. We were the only guests and had a peaceful evening in a typical Namaqualand setting. The road didn't bother us! We will definitely stay here again! Although we had no contact with the management, everything was exactly as prearranged.
This is a very spacious tent room, which is not hot at all in the middle of the day, as there is a roof over it. The new 750mm high bar fridge only has a small freezer compartment, so just be aware of that. One of the other reviews refers to the road noise of the N7. You can see the highway and hear the vehicles, but it doesn't bother you at all and it's more a case of distant noise. During our second night there was a problem with the solar system that could not be fixed. However, we were provided with battery lights and experienced no inconvenience. Will definitely stay here again.
The facilities are all brand new and everything is neat and clean. However, Bakoor's tent has leaked water and will need to be repaired. The tents are only about 200 m from the N7 and the trucks' noise at night spoils the tranquility.
What an experience. The silence and beautiful stars in the evening are something to experience.
Brandberg is very neat with nice views. The accommodation is nicely furnished, very clean and excellently planned.
We stayed in Meerkat, it was very neat and clean when we arrived. The little extras (delicious wine, coffee, sugar, cleaning products, etc.) make you feel welcome. The house is very well equipped and in a very safe environment. Brandrivier is very centrally located and all the small towns within a reasonable distance. The stars and silence are something to experience! Thank you very much, we had a great time.
The accommodation was interesting and unusual because it is mostly a tent. However, has all the facilities you need and it was lovely cozy with comfortable beds and good linen. The area around the house offers many walking opportunities if you want to be active. Otherwise you can sit on the veranda and admire the beautiful view. If you are lucky you will spot the herd of springbok.
Picturesque nature!
Our whole family really enjoyed the stay at Brandrivier. The permanent tent was something different to the other overnight places on our tour and still no luxuries were lacking. Everything was beautiful, neat and clean and the view was incredible and the smaller details like chocolates and even a bottle of wine made us feel so welcome. Walking on the farm is something we'll never forget. We were so lucky to experience the first rain of the season. Thank you for sharing your beautiful part of our country with us. Next time we'll definitely stay longer.
Our family had a great time. It is a beautiful place with a breathtaking view. Very neat and comfortable.
Very neat and clean place. Will definitely use it again.
The facility proved to be disappointing. It was, by double, the most expensive accommodation encountered over a three week trip through the region and whilst we accepted the premium on the basis of the peace and tranquillity we expected, this was not to be. The constant road noise from the N7 was very intrusive and spoilt our stay. That said the facility has all the necessary essentials and the gas braai was a great add on.
We enjoyed Brandrivier a lot and will definitely make use of it again. The house/tent combination was very exciting for my children. The accomodation is very well equipped and attention is paid to even the finest detail.
Wow, when we arrived at the gate and saw "Turtle" on the ledge we already knew it was the right place to book! Upon opening the doors, it was a big surprise of how neat and beautiful everything is, there between somewhere and nowhere. I called and let them know that we had arrived and that everything was fine and we were told that if we needed anything at all we should just let them know. We were also spoiled with a delicious bottle of wine and chocolate ─ thank you very much! The shower on the porch is the highlight! Sitting on the deck while the sun sets is picture perfect! I called again the next morning and let her know we were leaving and she was so grateful for the call and wished us a safe trip. Thank you very much for your genuine hospitality, we definitely recommend you 10 out of 10!
Brandrivier is beautiful, very neat and clean and comfortable with friendly service. The view is amazing and we will definitely visit again in flower time. Unfortunately there is no air conditioning, which is understandable since they use solar power.
We had a wonderful stay at Brandrivier and everything was very neat and clean. The effort made to make us feel welcome made us feel special. We will visit Brandrivier's Turtle again anytime! Only downside is the traffic from the N7 which can be heard, but the scenery and accommodation make up for it!
One night here is too little, the stone cups ask to be explored. We were surprised by numerous bugs and members of the lizard family in our short visit. The environment is breathtaking. Tortoise is beautifully furnished. The chairs on the veranda are an invitation to relax and switch off. It's close to the N7, but it doesn't bother. Definitely worth the visit.
Had a great stay. The outdoor shower is a highlight. Children could enjoy their holes and had fun walking and scrambling. All in all, this stay is worth every penny.
The residence was a pleasant surprise. Everything was so comfortable and attention was paid to every detail. Everything was beautifully clean and tidy. The chocolate and wine was a great treat! Thank you very much for a wonderful time on a beautiful farm.
The only point I wanted to raise is that the white wine might be a bit old, but it was amazing to receive white wine and chocolates!
An altogether wonderful place to stay, great setting, and easy arrangement to access. But sadly the road noise from trucks roaring up and down the route between Cape Town and Namibia spoiled it for us.
Beautiful and fully equipped with everything for a quick getaway from the city. Wish we stayed closer to make more use of it.
