There are 2 entrances to the apartment, one via the glass doors from the patio into the lounge area, the other via the kitchen.
The main bedroom has a king-size bed, a free-standing bath, and an en-suite bathroom with a toilet, basin, and shower. The room also has built-in cupboards with hanging space shelves and a hairdryer is available. There is a dresser with a mirror on the wall above, which doubles as a dressing table. A fold-up crib is available for infants.
The second room has a double bed and en-suite bathroom fitted with a shower, basin, and toilet. The room also has a built-in cupboard with shelves and hanging space. The wide storage cupboard with a mirror attached to the wall serves as a perfect baby-changing station.
The open-plan living area has a sleeper couch. The well-equipped kitchen features a ceramic-topped stove with oven, induction plate, a camping gas cooker, double door fridge/freezer, kettle, toaster, air fryer, microwave oven, an Espresso coffee machine as well as an automatic washing/drying machine. There is an open-plan dining and lounge area with seating for 6 people, a comfy couch and a sleeper couch, a flat-screen HD TV, and a Premium DStv package and DVD player. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout. Mobile reception indoors is limited, but the Wi-Fi signal is good. Cell phone reception is good outside the apartment.
Load-shedding hardly affects the accommodation as there is a hybrid solar/inverter system that powers the apartment and most of the owner's house.
Brenton-on-Sea is a friendly, safe neighbourhood, about 9 km from the N2, where you may encounter free-roaming bushbuck. The apartment doesn't have sea views, but wonderful views can be enjoyed from many viewpoints, especially along Fisherman's Walk, a pathway that extends along the clifftop accessible via a pathway behind the property. Sitting on the benches placed for your convenience, this pathway offers uninterrupted views of the sea.
Nature lovers can enjoy the bushbuck, butterflies, and prolific birdlife in this piece of paradise. The apartment is a short walk to the Blue Flag Brenton Beach and Brenton Haven Hotel and restaurant, Butterfly Blu, and deli, Indigo, overlooking a 5 km stretch of pristine beach to Buffalo Bay. A convenience store selling basic groceries is within walking distance.

I read that everyone said it's home away from home. Well, it was exactly that. We were pleasantly surprised by the little details and attention to hosting with such kindness. My children want to move there!
A real home away from home. Esme was outside to welcome us on arrival. She not only did a tour of the accommodation unit, but also of the ocean view walking trail. The accommodation literally has everything. The only things we needed were food and clothing. The free-standing bath, the bottle of wine, the heaters, snacks, full DStv, the rusks etc., were a more than welcome bonus. And on the morning we left, we even received information on the road conditions, as it was pouring outside. Thanks Esme for being a great host.
Excellent, neat.
Very nice stay!
Absolutely lovely to stay at this establishment again. Fabulous hosts who always go the extra mile and make it truly feel like home away from home.
Very nice and spacious accommodation and the solar power system is also convenient.
The stay was very nice. The apartment was lovely and close to the beach so we could walk there to see the most beautiful beach 10 minutes away. Beautiful and safe location. Would definitely come again!
Perfect and warm reception by Esmé. Very nice, big and carefully arranged apartment. Generously furnished and very cosy.
Very nice stay. It was a very good experience and worth it over and over again.
Good base for a family to enjoy Knysna and surroundings. A short walk brings you to a beautiful view high above the sea.
Honestly this was such a nice place. Very well situated. Books available for reading, movies for watching. Even some boards to go body-surfing. I would definitely recommend this to friends and family. Very nice! Thank you Esmé.
The house was fully equipped: WiFi, electricity, available even during power cuts, thanks to panels and a converter, full appliances, a full DStv package, and braai facilities; lovely big beds and spacious bedrooms, each with its own bathroom.
Spacious and comfortable. The host has thought of everything, and the house is very well equipped. There are lovely walks along the cliff paths.
Fully equipped for self-catering with ease. Very good quality accessories. Lovely coffee station. Good quality sleeping facilities and bathrooms. Hostess very attentive to make sure you stay comfortable and happy.
This little place is a gem. Very comfortable beds and with heating very comfy for winter travellers.
Esmé and Julie were very friendly and helpful and will definitely stay here again.
It was the perfect winter getaway base for us as a family. The facilities did not lack anything, and we were able to enjoy 2 cold winter evenings cuddly as a family there. Highly recommend.
We enjoyed our stay at Brenton Nushnuck Lodge very much. Our hosts were attentive, helpful and eager to please. We lacked for nothing and the facilities were over and above what we expected.
Really worth the stay lovely cosy and comfortable. I would definitely refer my friend and family.
Owners live on the upper part and at night from 3 o'clock there was a noise above the smaller bedroom. Apart from this, a lovely unit.
Nice big unit with everything you can think of. Esme is a wonderful hostess and even brought an item that we forgot all the way to Thesen Island behind us. Thank you very much, we had a wonderful stay.
We enjoyed our stay. Lovely being greeted by host on arrival. Lovely comfortable stay with all the comforts and attention to detail. Well worth a visit. The cliff path walk is a must for sundowners.
Very clean in a gorgeous and quiet area. Owners super helpful and accommodating. Fitted with everything a family could need. Lovely braai area and garden with cute cats! The solar panels were a huge bonus. The ocean is just a short walk away.
Beautiful rooms and decor. Very neat and we had a wonderful stay. We were received very kindly and immediately felt at home.
This is a normal log house in a residential area (no bushbucks) with family living upstairs. Old dark rooms, but spacious. Photos do not reflect the dark enclosed and overgrown reality.
The unit is below the owner's house and is very clean and spacious. There is everything you need and more for a wonderfully comfortable stay.
Very comfortable and the most thoughtful hosts. Highly recommend.
The lodge was clean and we were welcomed with excellent hospitality. Esme showed us around and made us feel at ease.
Was really nice, clean and comfortable. There was everything needed and more.
It is very cosy and well maintained. Complimentary wine and coffee pods and friendly reception make for an exceptional stay. This should be an awesome option for longer stays.
We were kindly received by Esme, shown everything and then also taken on a trip to see a shortcut to get to the beach and also told about delicious pizzas at the Hotel. The accommodation has everything and more than you need, the place is so well equipped and so peaceful, just a pity we were on a tour and could only stay one night. Esme, thank you very much for wonderful hospitality and a lovely stay. We forgot a blanket there and Esme contacted us to ask how she could send us a blanket? It wants to be done. Thank you very much!
I would use this facility again.
Unit is nice and cozy, with a holiday feeling and extremely neat.
Owner made us feel very at home, makes extra effort.
Lovely location with walking trial next to the beach nearby. Accommodation very well maintained. Esme was an amazing host who made us feel so welcome with fresh bread, butter and cheese etc. when we arrived.
We were kindly welcomed. House is tidy, with everything and more than what is needed. Would definitely stay there again.
The ladies of Brenton Bushbuck Lodge go out of their way to make your stay unforgettable and the best that it can be! Our family spent a couple of nights here and it was, without question, the best place we stayed during our trip along the Garden Route. The attention to detail and the small treats laid out for all and the communication prior to arrival were superb and most welcome and appreciated! I would most definitely and unreservedly recommend this place to my friends. Thank you for helping to make special family moments and memories!
Brenton Bushbuck Lodge is a beautiful, very affordable two bedroom cottage with its own entrance at the bottom of the main house, where the owners live. Firstly, the owners are very lovely people who made us feel very welcome on our arrival and offered to show us the Brenton Seaview more than once. It is a self-catering cottage that was neat, clean and really furnished with everything you would need. Upon arrival, a ciabatta sandwich with butter and brie was waiting for us on the table. And a bottle of white wine in the fridge. Another small detail that stuck with me was the fresh lavender and Lindt truffles on the bed. It's little things like that that stand out. I personally prefer a self-catering place because we have two busy boys who need space, open air and running area, also for privacy and the freedom to come and go at our own time. The lodge with its own entrance and beautiful garden was perfect for this reason, even though it is not a stand alone building we still had our own privacy to come and go, and the children really enjoyed the garden and waterfall. Brenton itself is a beautiful section next to Knysna, green forests where you look and a breathtaking sea view with the most beautiful mosaic work on all the tables and benches along the sea view. I can really understand why this region is called the Garden Route as it is one big wooded garden with cottages peeking out everywhere in between. Beautiful place with so much to do, I definitely want to visit again in the future.
Thank you very much for your beautiful place that we shared with you.
I enjoyed the coffee and the little surprise in the fridge and on the bed. The house was well equipped and the owners very friendly but not intrusive. Everything was very clean. Sorry the weekend was too short, would have liked to stay longer.
Cottage offers everything you need for a relaxing stay. Walking distance trail, beaches and beautiful scenery. Very friendly hosts to make your stay even better.
Was very neat. Homely atmosphere with ample space. Would really recommend it.
We had a really nice stay there. Everything was so neat and clean. Thank you very much for all your efforts!
We haven't come across a place so well equipped in a long time. It's a real treat - filter coffee, espresso, WiFi, Netflix, DStv, towels, grills, coals, provision for load shedding, complimentary bottle of wine, milk, even buttons and needle and thread! Amazing.
The owner was very helpful and even showed us around the area. Coffee machine, tea, sugar, even a bottle of wine in the fridge. Place is very well furnished.
My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our stay at Brenton Bushbuck Lodge. The home was very clean and tidy and I felt safe the entire time. The host actually created a very informative book regarding things to do around the area, places to eat, fun facts and tips, etc. It was awesome to have such an insight when travelling to a new area. The host also told us about a beautiful little trail that leads to a secluded beach which absolutely blew my mind. It was gorgeous and we walked on the trail for sunset. Everything about the home was very organised. Check-in and check-out were easy! Highly recommend the accommodation.
Brenton Bushbuck Lodge offers great value for money. The unit is very well-equipped and the owners (who live on the top floor) are very helpful. It is set in beautiful surroundings with breathtaking sea views less than 100 meters from the unit. We can definitely recommend it for a family with small children.
Very nice accommodation with all the necessary amenities. Pleasant people. Will definitely visit again.
Everything is just right! Had a lovely, comfortable stay.
We'll be back.
Unbelievably good hospitality. Open arms welcome.
Incredibly neat, clean and tastefully restored. It's such a pleasure to know that beds and bathrooms are kept in the absolute best condition for absolute comfort.
It was a wonderful place, very neat and well located. Peaceful atmosphere, I will definitely go again. Just also say thank you to the owners who received us so well.
It was an amazing stay. We were treated so well and pampered. The accommodation is spacious and very well equipped. Is near the most beautiful view. Very safe.
We really enjoyed our time there and we can really recommend this lodge.
Thank you for the nice stay at your Lodge, Esme. We really enjoyed it and were surprised by the extra mile you would go for your guests as well as the cleanliness of your place and extras you have available for your guests. We will see you next year again. PS. Thanks for the nice coffee!
It was truly a fantastic place to stay and we wish we could have stayed longer.
During our arrival we were well received by the owners. Nice peaceful home environment. No unnecessary noise from vehicles as well as barking from dogs or people running around in the streets. Will definitely go again!
