Brenton on Sea is lovely. It is probably one of the most beautiful, peaceful locations. The unit is very luxurious and neat. There is tons to do in the area. We have a daughter in a wheelchair and customer service picked it up and called us and recommended a unit that was wheelchair friendly. It made all the difference to our stay. We definitely want to go back to vacation here. It is idyllic.
All we experienced negatively is that there is no option during load shedding to make food. A gas stove as an alternative had to be an option. Rainy weather prevented us from grilling and load shedding was at bad times close to dinner time in the evening.

Very neat and beautiful. Cottages are well appointed and everything you could possibly need is there. Near the sea. Near a small shop. Close to places to eat. Close enough to Knysna.
The only concern was that there was no alternative for electricity, e.g. a gas plate, so with advanced stage load shedding, one doesn't have an alternative for boiling water or warming food. An Eskom issue I know but self-catering is difficult when all appliances work on electricity only.
Stay was nice. Received with hospitality, clean and tidy with a nice view.
Underfloor heating in the living area helped a lot with the cold. Heating in the rooms would be an added plus.
The cottages have everything you need. Was clean and tidy. The grass around the buildings was beautifully green and well cut.

This was the second time my boyfriend and I have stayed at Brenton on Sea because we enjoyed the experience so much the first time. We stayed over from the 16th - 19th of June. It does get a bit chilly at night in the cabin but other than that it was very clean, well maintained and was nice and quiet. We did have a bit of an issue with the WiFi as it kept dropping and asking for the username and password multiple times in a short time frame.
It was now one of the nicest places we've ever stayed. The beds were wonderfully firm and good quality. The cottage was beautifully furnished and although there were only three of us, it is ideal for six people with the three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The price is a bit high, we felt, but after spending the night there we could see that you get what you pay for. We will definitely stay there again.

Kitchen fully equipped with all the necessities. Rooms are spacious and child friendly. Wish they had generator for backup, 2 mornings we had to eat breakfast later because of the load shedding and the last day we had to make fire outside enabling us to have decent breakfast. Wish they also had heater for cold nights. Overall our stay was beautiful.

We were received at Brenton On Sea Cottages with such kindness that we felt like family and immediately felt welcome. Chantel received us with friendly eyes and checked us in and made sure we were comfortable in everything we needed to know. Our Cottage No. 3 which is perfect for me and my husband and has the most beautiful view of the sea and I really can't think of any negative thing about our visit. In the cottage there was enough of everything, even bread plates, scissors and a bread tin. Things that you don't just find at such places. We also met a dear uncle, only sorry we didn't ask his name, who looks after the beautiful cottages and keeps his hand over everything. He showed us around and answered all our questions with patience and told us more about the places. Many thanks for that and we will definitely book with Brenton on Sea Cottages again.

Best customer service, we arrived after check-in time but, Chantel was waiting for us to hand over key and documentation. The cottages are very neat and the cleaning staff are the best. You can have peace of mind because there is 24/7 security on duty. It's very well located, walking distance from the sea, and they have a swimming pool on site for guests. It is very affordable, you really get value for your money. I would recommend it to anyone who just wants to get away from the hustle and bustle and experience the peace and quiet of Brenton on Sea Cottages.

We stayed 3 nights at Brenton on Sea in March 2021. due to covid many of the units were empty so we were quite private, without any disturbance. We were received kindly and immediately felt at home. Chris, the manager, is a friendly and helpful man. He lives on the premises and was available all the time. Truly a beautiful place.

The photos on the website are not at all how it really is there. We had no sea view from our braai area. The cottages are also far from the beach. So pictures are misleading. The cottages are very well furnished but there is no parking space close to each cottage and there is no offer to help with the luggage either. I had to carry cool boxes and luggage up and down stairs by myself. I would definitely recommend that they do make people available to help with luggage. We were supposed to stay 2 days but only stayed 1 night.

They had everything I needed already available. Like Sunlight Liquid and clothes; down to the chopping boards and braai grill and tongs. I literally only had to pack food. The only let down was that the pool was locked.

We were very impressed with the "new" Brenton on Sea. Units were rebuilt after the Knysna fires. Our unit was a 2 person one and everything one would need was there and in its place. All staff were very friendly, helpful and the reception was ready upon our arrival.

The lawn and braai area were lovely, our children thoroughly enjoyed it as well as the pool and beach. The safety and tranquility are top notch, we can't wait to come again! Only advice - take everything together like food, etc. because no shops and Knysna is about a 25 minute drive.

Although it was beautiful, comfortable and clean, friends I hadn't seen in years were together. Was unfortunately silenced before 8 in the evening while we enjoyed each other's company. Rules say there must be silence at 10 o'clock. While our children were playing on the grass, another guest shouted through the window shut up on a holiday do you want to enjoy yourself and be able to hang out and chat late into the night. But otherwise I would recommend the place because view is fantastic.

Brendon on sea Cottage is a fantastic, clean, tidy and a pleasure to stay in. I come from Gauteng and am very impressed with the layout of the resort. Very neat paved paths to the beach and even to the eatery, Nortical South, which has excellent food and friendly service. Would recommend the place to anyone. Will just come back tomorrow if I can.
The units are particularly neat and clean. The equipment is the chalet is of top quality, such as e.g. the microwave, fridge, bathroom and cutlery. And there is underfloor heating!

I'm definitely coming back and this time for a longer stay with family. The place is amazing, has the best views, close to majority of amenities, clam area for a "getaway" from the busy city life. It's perfect, we loved it so much, never knew such a place exits in the Eastern Cape, we always do Limpopo, Bela Bela and Mpumalanga, Kruger National.
Accommodation was not exactly what we were looking for. Location is fantastic. Only negative is that we stayed an additional night, but then had to move. The cottage was similar but very bad location for the same price. Sprinklers went off very early right under the window. Was still worth it. Just make sure you choose which room you're staying in beforehand. We were not given a choice. Stay away from number 8 and the two next to it.
Beautiful, brand new and luxurious. Brenton on Sea Cottages are better for summer than winter. The cabins are small but cosy with no seating except on the bed. We had to eat on the bed because there was only a plastic table and chairs on the balcony that was wet from the rain and it is too big to carry it inside. You're not allowed to start a fire with wood because of a fire risk. No salt, pepper, matches, etc. that you will normally find at a place like this. This is more ideal for people who just want to stay over than a self-catering unit.
The cottages themselves are very pleasant to live in. The sea smell in the morning was the best yet. Everything was neat and well taken care of.

Although we were warned, the building works did have an adverse effect. Also, our table was removed but that was fixed by management quickly. I would like to go back once things have settled. It is beautiful there.
The houses are beautifully appointed and the decor forms part of the tranquil atmosphere. The staff are friendly and helpful. We will definitely go stay there again. It is quiet and peaceful and the perfect place to rest. We did struggle with the WiFi though and finally gave up, because it just didn't want to work.

Very cosy. The cleaning service was great and did not bother us. The rooms were clean and neat when we returned from our activities. Everything you need is there. We cannot wait to come back!

We are regular guests at ATKV Hartenbos. We could not find a place to stay there this year despite being members for 16 years. We were forced to look elsewhere and came across Brenton on Sea and because we had few choices then just gave it a try. What a beautiful and wonderful place. Hospitality, friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, theft is everywhere in our country. A beautiful place but the residents came to warn us not to leave anything valuable on our motorbikes as 'petty crime' occurs at night. At least we didn't suffer any damage. The new hotel offers good meals. Nothing close so sums everything up.
Chalets basic, but good value for money ─ well equipped with a beautiful view of the sea. Walking distance to delicious restaurants and the beautiful beach of Brenton-on-Sea, not to mention Belvedere and Knysna's surroundings. Can't wait for our next visit.

We enjoyed our stay and even saw a school of dolphins on our last day. We didn't have good weather but all the other things made up for it. For swimming Buffels Bay is the most beautiful.
The chalets are nicely furnished. Ours (no. 28) has a beautiful view. The outdoor barbecue is nice.
Otherwise, no problems.
Maintenance is required. Shower rubbers are loose and shower door is loose, lighter that dims does not work due to energy-saving light bulbs, window shutters cannot all open due to equipment on counters. All cottages do not have a security gate.

Just far enough from the busy shops but close enough to drive if we wanted to! Beautiful spacious residential units. We are definitely going to book another weekend soon.
Unit 25 had three bedrooms, two of which had double beds. He had a full kitchen, a living room and a TV that we could watch sports on. The accommodation was really good as far as self-catering units go. We really enjoyed our stay there and will definitely go back there again. All the negative aspect I can list is that the bottom tub's plug kept draining the water and that the shower worked a bit funny. I suspect that it has something to do with the pressure in the pipes. But all in all a top spot.
It was worth it in terms of time, money and convenience.
The accommodation was as advertised. No problems with the accommodation or payment. The location is ideal, especially out of season. Close enough to Knysna for shopping, and close enough to all the other attractions in the area.
Unfortunately, the view was not quite as clear as in the photos.
The view from the balcony was amazing and you could hear the sea in the early mornings. The room was slightly on the small side but had everything we needed to stay comfortably.

Well located near the beach with a beautiful view of the sea. However, the cabins are a bit small and cramped.
Clean, quiet, well appointed and nicely located if you want to enjoy the Garden Route without staying in a busy place. Would recommend it.
A very neat unit, well-equipped kitchen. A restaurant is approximately a 3-minute drive from the residential units. We had a great time staying there and made friends with a seabird that came to "knock" on the front door for attention. There is currently construction on an adjacent site - and the many units being built will unfortunately disturb the rural effect as pictured.
Good service and well developed. The shopping center with choice of a few places to eat and gas station can be beneficial.

R3 580R3 580R2 148Accommodation comprises chalets that can accommodate between 2 to 3 guests, and 4 to 6 guests respectively, making them ideal for families and friends. These well-appointed, thatch-log chalets comprise bedrooms that are furnished with double beds or single beds, and the rooms share the use of 2 bathrooms fitted with baths or showers. For convenience, heaters, blankets, linen and bath towels are provided, and guests please need to bring their own swimming towels. A travel cot with bedding is available upon request. One of these chalets is wheelchair-friendly and can accommodate 6 guests.
Each unit has a fully equipped kitchen, and a lounge with a TV with selected DStv channels, as well as Wi-Fi access. An iron with an ironing board is also available in the chalets, or guests may make use of the communal laundry facility.
There are built-in braai areas close to the front door with grids and garden chairs, and the resort has a communal swimming pool and braai facilities for guests to use, and shaded parking is provided. Guests may only use charcoal at the braai facilities at the cabins.
Brenton on Sea Cottages is located near a convenience store, 2 restaurants, and the closest supermarket grocery store is within a 20-minute drive.
Kindly note that our resort does not have backup generators during load shedding and we would advise our guests to bringing extra lights
