Surroundings are very beautiful and peaceful, house is slightly neglected and needs some attention, but nothing was lacking.

The location is perfect for a peaceful getaway in the beautiful mountains. There is enough beauty on the farm that you never have to drive around. The house is very well equipped and exactly what one can expect from a farmhouse (not "fancy", but a nice living house). There is no power, but the solar panels keep the lights on and the gas geyser and fridge-freezer are very convenient. There is plenty of walking on the farm itself - over the mountains and down to the river. Merlyn is very nice and helpful. We are already planning another trip to see the natural beauty in the summer as well.
I was not informed that you should not travel to this location with a sedan. That once you arrive you will not be near any shops. The roads are very bad to the nearest town - Himeville. Your sedan will get stuck on the driveway, and you will not be able to call for help as their is no cellphone reception so you will have to walk for about 4 km to the nearest farm. You might find shepherds along the way to assist you, but they will need to first attend to their cows before helping you.

We stayed at Brides Veil Chalet from 27 December 2016 until 5 January 2017, and what an incredible experience to be able to be so close to nature. Exceptional hospitality from Merlyn and her husband. Undisturbed natural beauty, one afternoon an Eland cow and her calf almost walked over our veranda from the valley up the mountain. Here you forget about time and just relax.
It was a disappointment! I wouldn't let anyone stay in such a rundown and dirty place! Have photos to prove it, friends and family couldn't believe their eyes when they saw the photos. Everything is rundown! Place needs a makeover, everything comes from Noah's ark and is dirty! Out in nature it is beautiful, thank goodness! We didn't want to sleep on that old bed and to sit/sleep on the coaches and immediately got in our car and went home. They should be ashamed.
