This was one of the best guest house stays that I've been on. I wish we could have stayed longer. The service was super friendly and efficient. It felt like we were family. The garden is pretty and peaceful. It was so nice to sit outside and relax. The restaurant food was great and the service was good.

Frustrating that they messed up the booking and the customer service was absent! The receptionist or manager could not have been less interested in us or helping fix the error. Photos are accurate but we just didn't get the room we had booked.

What a lovely place to call home. We were received kindly and immediately felt at home. Rooms are neat and in the chilly weather there was already a heater on in the room when we arrived. Cozy restaurant on site with the most delicious food. Beautiful garden and secure parking. 10 minutes drive from Tukkies and very centrally located. We will definitely stay here again.

Our arrival was a little later in the evening due to our late arrival flight at Lanseria. Carol still received us with such hospitality at the guest house, and the lady and staff of the restaurant quickly and with such kindness made us pizza before they closed. Brooklyn Guesthouse offers an incredible atmosphere. It is clean and tidy and the staff are friendly and hospitable. Their restaurant is something special to experience and the food is delicious! We are very much looking forward to our next visit there.

Brooklyn Guesthouse is a place full of character, but the patio furniture needs updating. The setting is beautiful and the walls were interestingly painted. There is beautiful old furniture and woodwork in the guest house, and the layout with the different houses made it very interesting. We had a really nice stay. We understand that the whole place is going to be renovated, which will make it a top destination that we would love to visit again. At the price we paid, it was a bit expensive for us as pensioners. Perhaps consideration should be given to giving pensioners a discount to make it more valuable to us.
I believe you will have a great time at the Guest House in the summer. Beautiful gardens and pool. For what we needed for overnight to be close to Life Hospital and Mall.
The stay was pleasant, but an air conditioner and refrigerator in the room is recommended. Parking is also a problem!

Their breakfast is delicious. Too bad we only stayed one night otherwise we would have tried their pizzas from their pizza oven outside.
We were received kindly and warmly and there were surprises around every corner. The whole site was artistically and tastefully decorated and there was plenty of room for friends to hang out together. The restaurant on site is cozy and the food delicious!
Only problem was that there was no candle or lamp in the room during loadshedding. We had to fetch an oil lamp from the restaurant.

Italian countryside atmosphere created by clever murals on exterior walls. The on-site restaurant also contributes to this.

The guest house was clean and tidy, but the bed linen is already a bit worn, it will have to be replaced in the near future.
Maintenance is years behind, short paint, extractor fan halfway out of the roof, ceilings have black mold on them, curtains etc. is old Owners and management just have to walk through their own place once in a while.

The most striking thing about the Brooklyn Guesthouses is the size of the grounds and the quality and decor of the house we used. The property stretches from Murray to Anderson street with a great garden.

The interior walls of the bedroom provided to me are made of wood and I could hear every sound and snore from the neighboring rooms. I cannot understand that a 3-star accommodation can offer such a room.

The bath was dirty. It was dirty behind the small table next to the bed. The curtains was brown and not white anymore and it was very dirty. There isn't a light in the hallway to the room. We had to look where we go.
The place lacks finishing touches, the bathroom in our room's bathtub grilled me, the shower is terribly slippery, and there were no hangers are the many closets, they will never see me again! The owners of the place were fighting with each other at the dinner table, very unprofessional!

Manager needs to check rooms before guests arrive. Our sheet was stained and under the bed was a huge amount of dust and litter. The toilet needs to be replaced as it is disgusting to look at. Otherwise, the stay was okay and the manager was friendly.
Ek het gevra om verskuif te word van die kamer wat ek die eerste keer gegee is, aangesien dit ver van die ontvangsgeriewe was en die houtwerk was so verwring dat vensters nie toegemaak kon word nie - baie onveilig in vandag se tyd. Ek het die sogenaamde Honeymoon Suite gekry, wat donker en somber was met baie ou dekor en vuil matte. Die badkamer benodig 'n ernstige opknapping- badoppervlakte is gekrap en die stort is nie beter nie, en 'n dooie plant tussen twee aaklige wasbakke. Die gordyne en blindings is so sleg gehang en oud en gebreek, dat hulle nie opgetrek kon word nie. Daar was 'n groot waterverfskildery teen die muur met groot mufkolle op, en die twee spieëls in die badkamer het gelyk asof die rame vrot was. As ek my wittebrood daar spandeer het, sou dit 'n vreeslike ervaring gewees het. Ontbyt was teleurstellend, want dit het gelyk of niemand moeite gedoen het om goeie kos te produseer nie. Geen spesiale tee, geen ordentlike koffie, en alles in verwarmers. Ek is 'n ontwerper en het gastehuise in Kaapstad en Franschhoek gedoen, waar die gehalte van die dekor, netheid en kos uitstekend is vir dieselfde prys. Die foto's op die webwerf is baie misleidend en hoe die sterre toegeken word, is 'n raaisel.

No air conditioning.
Big disappointment to arrive at a place that looks nothing like the pictures. It looks tired and unkempt, just a new coat of paint will make a huge difference. The headboards are so loose that you wake up everytime you turn around at night - one of the switches of the bedlamps didn't work correctly so my head kept knocking it on and off during the course of the night. All the lights didn't work and there were no plug for the light at the desk. The toilet had a bad smell and the tap at the teeny basin was loose. Old dust on the skirting boards. I'm sorry, not a nice experience at all and I won't recommend this guesthouse to anyone.
There are only 4 rooms with air conditioning. Room service does not exist. The house I stayed in didn't even have a phone, let alone room service. The maintenance of the place is very poor and the blind in front of the window of the room where I stayed crashed on my desk with all my electronic equipment on it. Unfortunately the place is not clean either. The mats in the bathroom stank so much that I put them outside. The towels are not fresh. So we moved out after 3 weeks and checked into another guest house for a further three weeks. However, the night staff were very helpful and deserve a thumbs up.
We made a booking at Brooklyn Guesthouses for the 20th of December to be near the Blue Train Station for the 21st. We didn't want to race from Roodepoort and wanted to be well rested. A room was provided. It is situated above a kitchen with burglar bars on all the windows. If the iron gate at the top is closed and a fire were to break out, we wouldn't be able to get our. Our biggest complaint though, and something totally unacceptable, was the fact that my daughter woke up with lice in her bed. When we switched the light on the entire mattress and under the pillows was covered with running lice. It was terrible. 01:00 in the morning. We couldn't go anywhere else. Probably slept on the single bed for about 2 hours. There was also a bidet toilet which smelled really bad. This guesthouse's stars should be taken away. We want our money back and are also complaining to the Tourism Bureau.

The buildings are old and the lack of maintenance is visible. Inside, it has not been cleaned well. There are cobwebs that have been visible around one of the curtain arrangements above the bed for over a month. The "novel" blinds have not been cleaned in years and, if so, they are already brown from the dirt, especially in the bathroom. Mattresses not comfortable.
I would recommend the Luxury Rooms, the standard rooms are very standard. Beautiful place with trees and water, really feels like a seaside cottage (all that's missing is the sea).

Brilliant compared to some hotels we've stayed in. We have paid much more for some of the hotels in the past, and received far less. We will definitely stay here again!
I enjoyed it. At the buildings it may be far from the kitchen, I still prefer coffee in my room for early mornings.
