They specially put on warm blankets and the heaters for us before we came back for the evening, which was much appreciated. This shows that they make extra effort for their clients. Memory made us feel very welcome and went out of her way to accommodate us. It was a great experience.

Didn't get the room I booked. Not at all the same room as in the picture. Neat but could be better! Guesthouse is tidy and safe. Reception was very good and friendly. Room just very cold and no extra blankets. There are electric blankets but they don't work. Outside lights sharp and curtains very thin. Breakfast canceled because lady couldn't understand and could only choose bacon and eggs. No coffee at breakfast.
No air conditioner in the room, no shower, only a bath. During load shedding there is no emergency power to the fan or main lights, and you have to wait for them to turn on the generator, which took over 30 minutes some evenings, leaving you in the dark and heat.
The building of the guest house is very beautiful and the garden is very well maintained. I will definitely stay there again if I go to Pretoria. And the guest house is 5 minutes from Brooklyn Mall and probably 10 minutes from Menlyn Mall.
The property is an architectural gem and, together with the exceptional garden, has been fantastically maintained. It was nice to stay here!

The accommodation was beautiful and tidy and well located for where we wanted to be. The old building style is very beautiful to us. All I would suggest is a light or cherry for sure during loadshedding.

Thank you for providing another room as my wife cannot climb stairs. Unfortunately the room was not up to standard. No hot water in the bathroom sink. Microwave is not very clean. The TV doesn't work. We paid for a deluxe room but the one we got in return was not that good. My mistake about the stairs - didn't think of that when booking.
The guest house has much more potential and one can see that the owners do not bother with maintenance etc. not. Everything is dated.
No aircon, etc.

Overnight after a visit in the Cape. Place is very clean and quiet. Bedding was pretty clean.
The whole atmosphere is calm and authentic. The biggest compliment I can give is the mattress used on the bed is of a very high standard. I would definitely stay there again.

The room was comfortable and clean, and the check-in was very quick, no long wait. Site where guest house is located is neat, clean and creates a calm and peaceful atmosphere.
The accommodation was very comfortable, neat and clean. There were a few small issues like the one globe in the bedside light was not working and the shower rose needed attention. They were offering a 40% discount which made the stay very affordable. At that price I would definitely stay there again. I got the feeling that they didn't encourage guests to have breakfast there because they charge R 150 per person for breakfast. That is exorbitant!
Shower head needs replacing at room 4, but the rest of the place is neat and nicely maintained. Will definitely book there again in the future.

The building's architecture and furnishings refer to a forgotten past era, but the service and facilities endorse today's modern standards and expectations when it comes to luxury, privacy and comfort. It was really nice to be able to stay here. The fact that this institution is willing to drop its price in tough economic times will definitely get my recommendation and further support in the future.
Brooklyn Manor - Wow! It was really something special to stay here and would really recommend!
Was told there was a shower which was not the case, only hand held shower head. Curtains in the bathroom shine through onto the courtyard where you have to stand in the bath and shower. Television is all the old SABC channels. Mattress of the bed is also past its time.
I make a lot of use of the website's service but am not very happy with the last guest house. First, we didn't get the room we booked as there was apparently a family with children who needed the room. This was discussed with us and my wife made a concession as they said they would make another plan. An extra bed was then carried into our room and my feeling is that they might as well have done it for the family with children. Secondly, it was very inconvenient to then be moved to the upper floor as my wife has an injured knee. Thirdly, the room leaves a lot to be desired as it was not very clean. There was a lot of dust in various areas in the room and bathroom. I don't expect miracles, but this was not a good experience. I hope to hear from you soon. Regards. Johan.
Atmosphere is fantastic
We enjoyed it very much. Pool clean, rooms clean, tidy and would go again anytime.

A very old building, very neatly restored and converted. Here and there there are small signs where maintenance is needed, but this does not detract from the rest. Although we did not enjoy breakfast, R150 per head sounds quite rough. Rooms need air conditioning or ceiling fan for the hot nights. The table fan does not do the job and is noisy and intrusive. Apart from the water being cut off, beyond the control of the lodge, our stay was very pleasant.
The rooms are not very private and well appointed. There were not even bedside tables and had to request specially to get enough coffee, milk and sugar for 2 people for two drinks. The atmosphere wasn't very quiet either with other guests chatting outside until late at night within earshot of our room and other guests coming home between 1 and 2am and easily talking loudly for an hour. The place felt like a commune without any privacy. Reception was friendly but did not inform us about the possibility of breakfast or any other drinks that one could have ordered.
We had no hot water due to a power problem in the area. This was not discussed or communicated with us at all. We traveled from afar and it was very inconvenient. Would have happily stayed elsewhere if they had let us know about the problem. Carpets in the room also had a smell.
Could have been cleaner for a 4 star for sure. Disappointed in the mold in the shower. 4 bulbs out. Fan base faulty. All my belongings were moved around during the cleaning. The 1st rule of housekeeping is that you never move the guest's belongings. Needed help twice and couldn't find anyone on site to help. No safe in room and this is a 4 star requirement. Even with 40% off it was not value for money.
Feels like you are at home, food was also very tasty. Just my baby and I were there and it worked very well with a small baby.
I was in PTA for a race at Phobians and had a great stay. I missed the breakfast, but got a chance to take a quick shower after the race before checking out.
