What a wonderful weekend with family. Buffalo Hills is fantastic. Very well furnished and nice picture. We had a wonderful time relaxing and visiting. The fact that the unit is also serviced every day is an absolute plus. Nothing was too much trouble for the hostess and we can only sing the place's praises. You will see us again for sure.
Nicole was friendly, welcoming, and very accommodating. The cottage felt like a (home away from home). The scenery, peace and quiet were enjoyed by all, even the young adults. The wildlife was breathtaking and an experience that will stay with us forever. All in all, the stay was worth the traveling.
Our stay was just incredible - our whole group of 10 people were amazed at how wonderful the lodge is and the details that the owners have done to make you feel welcome. The facilities are perfect (definitely beyond expectation) and we had one of the most magical bonfires after which we lay watching the stars against the mountain that is lit up. We enjoyed sundowners while some of our group went looking for the rock paintings (a little bit of a challenge to find). We will definitely be back for a longer trip to explore and relax more.
This is a little piece of heaven. A lovely farmhouse well suited for a family get-together. The service was wonderful, and the house was clean. The kitchen was well equipped. The surroundings are so beautiful. The sand road is not as hectic as expected, and we were able to reach the farm perfectly. Kelvin was always on call if we needed anything. Will definitely be visiting again.
We had a great time at such a beautiful place. The kids enjoyed the pool and the games that were provided by the host, and we also received great service. He made sure we never ran out of wood as the weather was a bit chilly. It's such a beautiful environment; we also saw different animals, and it's definitely nature at its best, surrounded by beautiful mountains. We are definitely going back.
Extremely lovely holiday with my family and the perfect place to create memories! We stayed in the Fishing Cottage, where we were often visited by the horses. We had free access to the reserve. The views there were beautiful, with picturesque hills, green grass fields and a great variety of wildlife and birdlife. Wonderful hiking trails and the children enjoyed catching fish in the clear pools. The cottage was clean and comfortable and was equipped with everything we needed. The staff were great, professional, very friendly and helpful! It was a unique experience, safe and secluded, and we enjoyed the privacy and peaceful atmosphere! We would not hesitate to recommend this place. We will definitely be back!

Buffalo Hills Private Game Reserve, Fishing cottage was everything and more, my grandchildren never picked their phones up the whole weekend, they were outside all the time. They fished, rode their bicycles and hiked, it was awesome.

We had a great time. Beautiful place with the most beautiful scenery. Very neat and clean, 5-star accommodation. And Jackson who looked after us from cleaning to starting the generator in loadshedding. And then naturally the delicious coffee, red wine and steak that we got as a gift. It was delicious. Beautiful farm between grass green mountains, an absolute must for someone who loves silence and nature.
Accommodation in the fishing cottage was perfect for a great getaway. Very well equipped and clean with many personal touches. Kitchen and braai area were serviced daily, discreetly and without any fuss which was a welcome surprise Extra blankets and wall heaters available and a fireplace with firewood supplied for chilly nights. Double bunk in the rondawel a little cramped. Very friendly and helpful staff. Communication prior to booking and en route was very good. Lovely view of the dam. Roads had taken a beating from the recent heavy rain but they were busy fixing them. During high rainfall, I would strongly recommend a 4x4 for drives in the reserve. Some roads in the reserve are passable only with a 4x4. Access road was fine as they had just graded it after the rains. Having wifi was a lovely addition. Well equipped for loadshedding with gas and rechargeable lamps. Braai area lovely with view of dam.
What a hidden gem Buffalo hills is! Spectacular views of the northern berg, an abundance of the amazing game, nice hiking, lovely dam for fishing. A peaceful and beautiful corner of creation, with much to see and do.
Beautiful place with tranquility and serene views! We were often visited by horses and farm animals, which brought a great experience. The place was equipped with everything we needed for self-catering. The fireplace, well stocked with wood, was a fantastic value add given the cold weather. We had some power disruptions, but they were attended to promptly. We really loved the great service from the team - they had a hands-on approach.
The dirt road was very wet, but Nicole warned us in advance to be careful. Very friendly and helpful staff.
We were relaxed in the 1st hour since our arrival, we all enjoyed the hike, game drives and fishing. Will definitely be back. Thanks Nicole. The Moutain Lodge is next on our list, it was stunningly beautiful.

The house we stayed in was very clean and tidy. This is one of the best self-catering places I have stayed. We had a great time staying and visiting. The Buffalo Hills staff were very helpful and friendly.
It provided everything we wanted: comfort, amenities, activities and, most spectacularly, views. Gary and Lulu were caring and helpful and nothing was too much for Jackson - a true gem.
We decided to spend the night near Harrismith as we thought the roads would be very busy on the Friday when school closed and decided to drive half way earlier in the day. The Cottage was very easy to find, drive exactly on Google Maps to the location. There is no signal but if you log on to the free WiFi you can send messages. It is a bit of a long dirt road but the road is drivable and the fresh air, beautiful mountains and nature make it all worth it.
The farmhouse was a hit for our family. With a bathroom for each room, spacious kitchen and rooms and a lovely veranda as a bonus. Jackson came to clean every day. The area has something to offer everyone - fishing, walking, 4x4, game watching and a rich birdlife. Truly a paradise for nature lovers. The Farmhouse is comfortable and convenient, with an authentic, long-standing decor.
Guests should be warned on the website when booking that a 4x4 vehicle is advised. The 15 km dirt road is extremely slippery and treacherous in rainy conditions. Members of our group got stuck on Friday, however, a team from Buffalo Hills came to assist in getting them back on the road. We ourselves got stuck at the same spot when leaving on the Sunday. We were delayed for an hour but again they came to our rescue. The problem was also exacerbated by the bad cellular network in that area. Two of the non-4x4 vehicles in the group sustained damages as a result of bad road conditions.
We stayed here for 2 nights. It was lovely - unfortunately it rained continuously, and the roads were difficult - even with our 4x4. But the houses were cozy and clean and we were well looked after and welcomed. My only complaint was the flies - maybe it was because it was stuffy, but I recommend that more be done about all the flies.
The accommodation was very nice and tidy. The surrounding area is picturesque. The road to the residence does need work. Nicole and Bafana made an effort to make us feel welcome. The farmhouse feel was very nice and complimented the outdoor life so nicely.
Free range of the entire farm. Really felt like we had te place to ourselves.
We had an awesome long weekend and for our group of 12 people (4 generations) accommodation was amazing, spacious, and didn't short anything. Shaun was a star helping and Jackson was an absolute blessing. Our 4 grand children enjoyed the walks and animals as well as finding Peter Rabbit. Will definitely recommend. Thank you all, we had fun and enjoyed our stay.

Sitting-dining room very, very well equipped with high-quality equipment. Lodge very clean and well maintained. The cleaning service is excellent and is always available if needed. The sleeping units are very private with each one having its own character. Our best experience yet and breathtakingly beautiful.

Will definitely recommend to others. Nice place to relax away from the hustle and bustle. We took a 4x4 ride alongside the nature reserve, we saw plenty of buffalos, ostriches, baboons etc.

Beautiful place offering good accommodation along with much needed peace & tranquillity. Owners were very helpful and even took us on an unexpected quick tour around the farm. The only concern are the gravel roads leading to venue and also on the farm. 4x4 a definite requirement to fully appreciate buffalo hills.
