Prices to hire out the boma for a braai was too high, no ice at the hotel, we chose not to eat at the hotel at all. Would rather look at other places to stay.
We only used accommodation to go into Kruger Park. Our rooms were nice and clean but the TV channels didn't work at all.
My daughter was in a newly painted room, the smell of which was overwhelming and no burglar alarm either. There was a party until 3 o'clock in the morning and no attempt was made to silence them. Receptionist was very good and saved our stay due to good service.
We arrived and had to wait 45 min, after finishing a hard days work, because their systems was offline and did not book us after we received confirmation and paid fully the day before. After the website assisted us by phoning them they gave us the last room available which had 3 small beds for three adults. As I sat down on the one bed it broke. They did come and fix it. The aircon was not working and I was awaken at 2 in the morning by an aircon spitting iceblocks at me. The food was not good at all. We paid over R150 for two microwave pizzas with cheddar on.

We were kindly received and got a better room than we had booked for. The room was spacious, clean and cool. My family was also able to order a meal and we didn't have to brave the heat.

Well situated between Malelane and Komatipoort.
It was very noisy, both nights we woke up a few times because of noise. The generators did not work during loadshedding, we had to get ready in the dark for our trip to Mozambique, could not even shower. The guard told us the offices were closed he could not start the generator. The manager's cellphone was turned off. We will never book there again.
Will not use Buffalo Hotel again. The restaurant is extremely poor, regular customers are treated better, food is unpalatable and cold by the time you receive it. Toilet, lights and TV did not work in our children's room. Gerrie at reception is the only reason why the review doesn't look worse.
This is where you feel like family and old friends from your first day! Best place to stay without a doubt! Will definitely visit again, me and the bar buffalo have another date when I come back! My first choice over and over without a doubt!
Reception staff immediately made us feel at home. They met our needs and were always friendly and helpful. Restaurant staff served delicious food and owners are very friendly people.
We only stayed 1 night but were welcomed with open arms. The room was clean and tidy and facilities were good. The restaurant makes very good food and is quite affordable.

It was a spacious room with all facilities in working order and very clean. We had a nice meal in the restaurant. Overall a nice experience.
The rooms are wonderful. Nice and big and clean. The client service and food are the only problem. We didn't even have teaspoons in the room to make coffee. The reception was rude when we arrived. The food really isn't good and you wait a long time for your plate of food. Will definitely go again for the location and the rooms, but will have to take my own teaspoons and food.

This was bad as the first impression was not good at the entrance, work half done and left as is. The room was fine but the area around the rooms and the swimming pool was very unneat and even though they were busy with renovations, there was still a matter of tidiness that could be kept when guests are present. The reception desk was mostly empty and nobody to help and the staff was very unprofessional. We had to ask for the gate to be opened to go out and this was a disaster as we had to sit and wait for 15 minutes or more on times.
After a long day we just wanted to lie down for a while just before 3 o'clock in the afternoon. Barely 10 minutes later, someone tried to force a key into the door and then started pulling and plucking loudly and clearly at the door. When I found my direction I opened the door to find a cleaner with her male companion who told me they were: "room service just coming to check". This after I may own the room from 2 o'clock, and they have a key. What safety is offered? On return in the evening we had to call the owner or manager to open the gate, no security on duty. Backyard is full of litter and untidy. Only one coffee cup for 2 people. Management did apologise, but it was too late.
Would advise any person to visit the place.
Our stay was very pleasant, surprising to find such a neat and beautiful accommodation in such a village. Staff very friendly and helpful. Everything was very neat and a very peaceful quiet environment. Ideal for relaxing and still visiting all the attractions in the nearby area.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was very good. Two minor problems: The mattress was horrible and caused a lack of sleep. There is a lace curtain in front of the glass door that gives access to the room, some evenings people sat right in front of the door and could see everything going on in the room. It was very awkward for my wife and I.
The hotel is nice and peaceful.
On arrival the room was not prepared and was dirty and full of dust. It's a self-catering unit with just four coffee mugs and no other cutlery. Not even plates. The shower door was only replaced on one side by a broken shower curtain and the other half was left open. The TV is too small and might as well be left out. The photos on the website are very misleading and do not reflect the true character of our room and the hotel.
The room was very comfortable and cosy. The staff is very friendly and helpful and they really make you feel at home. The only suggestion I have is to provide a smaal fridge in the rooms, because you might need it if you're staying there for a few days.
The Buffalo Hotel is a beautiful place with unbelievable history and potential. We stayed there twice in one week because of the rooms that were very neat. On our arrival on the 1st of December there was no one at reception, the same thing happened on the 9th of December. We were told, after we enquired, that breakfast is at 6. When we arrived at the breakfast venue at 6, there was no one. The tables were dirty after the previous night and there was no choice of breakfast (even though it basically costs R120 per person), we waited quite a while for our coffee and breakfast and in the end poured the coffee ourselves. We wanted to leave between 6:15 to 6:30, but only left at about 7:15. On arrival on the 9th we decided not to take the breakfast option since we had had such a bad experience the previous time, but we wanted to book for dinner. However there was a birthday party scheduled for the boss and only one table open with music blaring in our ears. We were then moved to the restaurant (which we didn't even know existed) and it was much calmer. Booking into our room, there was no one at reception. Someone came to help us, but couldn't find the room's electronic entrance card. He then rummaged through other room's boxes to find a working key. Unfortunately the aircon's remote control had a flat battery and we had to go back to reception to exchange it. Once again there was no one and reception. After driving for about 12 hours from Mozambique we just wanted to sleep so we would be able to take on the second leg of our travels. The birthday party meant that our sleep was interrupted by loud music. The hotel would be a beautiful place if the customer service is improved. Then it would be a perfect place for those travelling from and to Mozambique. Unfortunately I can't recommend this to weary travellers who need peace and quiet.
The rooms are nice but the rest of the hotel could be better looked after and finished. The included breakfast is not very good and there are few in the Hectorspruit area. We had to drive to Malelane every day. The service is friendly and helpful.
