11 guests' feedbackThe only problem was the 10h00 going out, so unfortunately my wife couldn't experience it, because then she would have to sit and wait for 5 hours in another place.
Due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control (stormy weather), we were forced to pack up quickly on Sunday evening. There is no cell phone reception and it rained non-stop, so we packed up within an hour and drove back to Cape Town at 7 o'clock Sunday evening. We came back just in time, otherwise we would also have been among the people caught in the floods. We recommend the stay with the greatest boldness if you want to "connect" with God and His creation. Here you can reload for sure. You have the necessary facilities to do what you could do at home when it comes to meals. Everything is there. You don't even miss your luxuries of home. There is a lovely fireplace as well as a gas heater. In the summer there are many more activities to take part in, such as cycling and hiking, as well as admiring the birds and the beautiful vegetation.
An excellent 3-night break away to read and do nothing. There was a massive storm and the rain on the roof and passing river sounded amazing. Highly recommended.
In the 2 days we were here, it felt like we were on vacation for a week. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking. To become part of nature in this way - palpable silences, the most beautiful bird sounds, rippling water streams, sunsets that are picture-perfect and a starry splendor that is indescribable! The highlight was of course the heated swimming pool! What more do you want now? If your need is to charge batteries, Buitestekloof Mountain Cottages is your answer!
And we found it at Buitenstekloof Mountain Cottages! The rustic simplicity of Witkruis Cottage was exactly what we needed for a couple's weekend away. Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer.
Perfect place to go and switch off with a good book. Beautiful location with mountains and fynbos wherever you look. The cottage has everything you need and much more.
Very quiet in the mountains. Robertson is very close and beautiful mountains as a back drop. Awesome place.
The mountains right around the house were more beautiful than we expected. Huisie was also well rested. Maybe just take some extra flash with you. Will definitely lie there again in the nice warm swimming pool.
Warn that wood will be needed for hot tub and suggest that it be arranged and paid for in advance. They mention wood, but not that you're going to need a whole lot. Vine wood also burns too quickly. All suggestion I have.
The house is beautiful and just what one needs. The view from everywhere is breathtaking. We had a great time walking and cycling. The only thing we still wanted to do was swimming/paddling, but the swimming hole/pond is not quite suitable for that.
Beautiful views. Comfortable home for 2 people. Lovely gas heater, was a lifesaver in the cold. Beautiful bed linen. The house was very clean. The best was the wonderful fireplace/indoor barbecue that draws well. The next morning there was no smell or sign that there had been a roast the night before. Very good gas cupboard, double plate gas stove. Hot and cold water supply very good. Toilet works well. Showers very well. Something to consider is a small table and 2 chairs instead of the half barrel. The following needs attention: the bed needs to be replaced soon, there is a loose sponge on top of the mattress, the living room is extremely uncomfortable, hurts your back. Had to sit on camp chairs, luckily we had our camp chairs with us. For example, we suggest taking out the low bench and 2 hammock chairs and putting in 2 comfortable ones instead. One must eat on one's lap. So it can be 2 comfortable upright chairs. Wash stoep's plastic chairs and steel table. For conservation, the owner may want to consider fixing the water pipes at the kitchen and shower to the wall. These are beautiful water pipes. Overall a lovely place, would love to visit again.
