The self-catering rooms are well-equipped and each contain a microwave, a fridge, kettle and crockery. The standard rooms are very basic, and each contain a double bed or single beds, an en-suite bathroom with shower and a bar fridge. The free-standing rondavels contain bunk beds, and make use of communal ablution and kitchen facilities.
This is also a popular conference and wedding venue, and a large hall is available for birthday parties and other events. The F Geel Kombuis restaurant is the latest addition to the establishment, please make sure you don’t miss out on its mouth watering breakfast and spectacular view!
The establishment is set next to the Sand river where guests can swim and fish. Guests can also go for an hike, do some bird watching, as we have quite a variety. For the more adventurous guest we offer a short route for mountain biking and some 4×4 trails.
Please keep in mind that no loud music or noise is allowed as the point is to relax and enjoy what nature have to offer us!

On the Sand River. Excellent view.
The owners went out of their way to help us. From start to finish we were treated well. They waited for us until we arrived and even asked us if we were still safe on the road. My flight was a bit late and they still helped us check in even though it was only 11 o'clock at night. We will definitely return at a later stage to enjoy the whole site.
We were kindly received and they are very helpful. Our second time there and will definitely stop there again. Love it.
Our room's power "bombed" on arrival (perhaps due to our own doing) and despite that we were upgraded to a family room at no further cost. The family room is well equipped with comfortable beds and a beautiful view.

Heidi and her helpers went out of their way to make it pleasant for us. Travelers should definitely not expect luxurious accommodation, it is a Bundu lodge after all. But it's on a nice farm and we were able to rest well.

Bundu River Lodge is geared to host large gatherings of people but is also a convenient, safe, low-cost stop-over while travelling on the N1.

The owners, Duane and Chené, were incredibly hospitable and always available. It was wonderfully peaceful along the Sand River with its lush vegetation and lively bird life and sounds. The sheep and chickens on our front porch, as well as the lush green lawns, contributed to wonderful memories of our escape from the busy city life! Can highly recommend it!

The restaurant's food and location of Bundu River Lodge make it a great option close to the N1.
We really enjoyed Bundu River Lodge, with above expected cleanliness and silence, one night was definitely too little and we will definitely see Bundu River Lodge again.
I can't complain about the service or cleanliness. It was winter outside, but we slept nice and warm. The only thing was that there was no closet to unpack clothes in. Luckily it was only for 3 days and not a big problem. What did catch me was the fact that there was no stove or pots and pans. Self catering means to me that you can make your own food. Maybe I didn't read it so just draw people's attention to it or put accessories in the chalet to be able to use in the microwave.
We used their facilities for Bokkieweek. It was value for money and we were very happy there.
It would be good if another braaiers could be built at the 4 sleeping units. 2 sheets of cloth can also be considered to put in the units.
Stayed overnight with caravan, very nice place. Friendly welcome. Fantastic restaurant! Even if you don't stay, you can stop for something to eat. Kobus, the cook, may cook!
Unfortunately, the driveway is not recommended for a small car like mine. Efforts were made to prepare a tasty dinner just for us.

A piece of paradise between nowhere and somewhere. Wow, incredible kindness. Our hostess went out of her way to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Beautiful scenery on the banks of the river. Couldn't ask for better. Fresh farm air. I will definitely use Bundu Camp again.

This is really just an overnight stop. In the kitchen there is only crockery and cutlery, in other words no braai bowls, pots, salad bowls or any kitchen utensils. The room was wonderfully warm though, we couldn't believe how white frosty the world was outside because we didn't get cold at all.
We often visit different places to see what there is to see. Unfortunately, there is nothing here to occupy you. The nature is fantastic to sit and watch the wildlife is only excitement for the day. Rooms are nicely furnished but unfortunately we didn't know how to bring our own crockery etc. not to bring with you as it is a self-catering unit. Fortunately, we got at least on inquiry. I will make the campsites a little more away from the rest of the houses so that they are far away from the houses and even in the woods, it will be pleasant to stand there with a tent. The possibility of installing power there for the campers and even a shower and toilet is so great. Great place to visit, but not for a long period of time. We were there for a long weekend keeping ourselves busy, but offering something for the visitors. Staff had been extremely nice and helpful.
The picture of the hall can be misleading, because the accommodation itself does not look like that. But otherwise, neat and clean, no complaints. Would like the GPS coordinates to appear clearly on the web page.
We had a nice stay, but the woman did not know about our arrival. The woman who received us was very nice and helpful. The showers, cups and floors were very dirty. Bed is terribly soft. The faucets in the kitchen leak a lot of water and the whole room smells of mold. Got it for cheaper because the single units were no longer available, but I certainly wouldn't pay R300 per person per night for such a self-catering unit. Bundu is a nice place with a lot of potential, but they will have to work hard if they want to attract or retain customers.
Will recommend Bundu anytime.

It was easy to check in and definitely recommend them if you want to spend the night in the Free State.
In photos it looks like separate units, then it is a bunch of rooms connected. Come there and people sit right in front of our room and visit. The kitchen is not fully equipped at all.
Friendly reception and the tidiness impressed us, also the safety.
Neat and clean. Close to Willem Pretorius Wildlife Park, Aldam and the historical monument of the Sand River Convention.
There are a few contractors who work on the road staying in the camp. They walk around there and swear a lot. It might be acceptable to them, but certainly not to me. One does not swear so especially in front of ladies. Furthermore, we found out with a shock that there had been no bedding on the beds, only a mattress cover. We then had to go buy blankets and pillows in Ventersburg.
No towels, dishcloths and necessary accessories to be able to stay comfortably!
