We were very impressed with the house that we stayed in at Bush and Gables. There was ample space for everyone. Everything worked well. Even though we had a slight mishap with water on the first evening (due to an outage in the area) the owners got back to us with a speedy reply and all was sorted the next morning. The pool was a hit with everyone too.
Very peaceful environment with the children and grandchildren (teenagers).
We were a group of 10 and the house was nice and big to accommodate us all although there were only 7 forks and some of us had to eat with spoons. Also, only 2 rolls of toilet paper are provided per bathroom and we were there for 4 nights, so take extra with you. Also expected someone to come in during the day to clean but this was not included which is disappointing for such a large group/house. 3/5 for cleanliness as the pool was green and some of the kitchen equipment full of dust. Other than that we had a great stay, aircon works wonders, beds sleep well and deck/braai area is great.
My stay went from good to bad the moment we were informed of a lioness on the loose. It would help if the property had fencing around their parameters. We would feel safer. The kids were disappointed with the pool size. They could not swim, its just there to cool off. I also felt that there was no effort made to clean up and set up the top balcony, the furniture was scattered all over in no order. They could also invest in a bigger fridge and freezer space, we were there for 6 night and our food couldn't really fit in the fridge and freezer, that made us to continuously drive to the shops daily to stock up on ice. The lighting in the dining and lounge room is poor, you cannot see your food as you eat. It would help if there is a big fan in the dining and lounge room.
It was very peaceful and beautiful there. Can see many animals that come to greet one in the morning.
Would recommend that some type of windbreak be erected at the braai.
The venue is perfectly located in the middle of the bush! It was quiet, clean, and the house catered exactly what we needed as a mixed group. There are clean bathrooms in each room, aircons that work magically and the kitchen well equipped. The deck is beautiful and all the facilities that this house offers will blow your mind. The hosts were super friendly and helpful. I gladly recommend this property to anyone looking for a quiet, but stylish break!
All rooms have en-suite bathrooms and privacy.
All I'd like to add is that there was a bad smell emanating from the toilets (the drain part).
