We were unfortunate to be caught up in the WC floods on Heritage weekend 2024, and Rochelle was an absolute star in coordinating extra days' stay overs, bringing fresh towels, rusks, etc. without being asked. She was a rockstar and made the stay for our family an extremely pleasant affair. We would return in a flash!
Perfect spot for a relaxing romantic getaway.
We first visited in winter of 2018 for our honeymoon and thought to experience an autumn stay this time around. The cottages are an absolute gem. The view has you mesmerised and just gazing into the far distance. Tranquility is in abundance. Our new profound memory of Bushmanspad Eststate will be the breathtaking night-time stars. Thank you to Rochelle for her excellent customer service all the way from Germany! You are amazing. We will definitely return and recommend this hidden gem called Bushmanspad Estate.
All the necessary information was well communicated in advance. The cottage is spacious and well furnished. Everything was clean and tidy and this is for sure the braai with the most beautiful view! Would love to go again - hopefully for longer.
The place had SO much potential. It was lovely a while ago but really needs some love. It fullfills its purpose of being accommodation, but the love is missing. Many things broken, faded pictures on walls, broekn lamp (which we fixed) and wobbly chairs and outside table. Stunning views, fabulous braai and peaceful.
Had a great time, except for the DSTV which didn't work, but the hostess quickly fixed it. It would have been nice if the braai place was inside or maybe covered.
Nice weekend break with nice view and relaxed atmosphere. Make use of the nice fireplace and enjoy the natural beauty on the stoep.
Baie dankie, dit was 'n wonderlikke naweek. Lekker staproetes in die omgewing. Beslis 'n uitstekende wegbreeknaweek.
It was definitely worth the trip to break away from the city, have a quiet barbecue and take in the beautiful surroundings. Would definitely recommend if you want to enjoy a quiet getaway weekend with your family.
Service was very good, unit tidy with a very comfortable big king-size bed. Will definitely go back in the summer!
Peaceful getaway with a beautiful view of the mountains right around the house. Just what we needed to switch off a bit. Would definitely recommend.
The cottage was clean and fully equipped and the bed linen and towels were of excellent quality and apparently brand new. The kitchen fittings were also generally new. The bed was also very comfortable and tidy and of high quality. However, the lounge furniture was in an absolutely shocking state, dirty, worn out, tired and totally worn out (the fabric is literally broken on the arm rests etc.), I would be ashamed to have such furniture in my own home, let alone this rent out to someone at an exorbitant price. It was uncomfortable to put on because it was put all the way through. The "coffee table" by the two chairs was a really tiny pine wood bench, one could hardly put one cup on it. The kitchen cabinets look freshly painted, but some are broken or don't close properly. The whole house has an air of wear and tear. All the woodwork, window frames etc. needs urgent attention, the welcome mat has a huge bite out of it, the exterior doors have deep scratches like a dog has apparently scratched at them, the back door does not close properly, the sliding lock on the back door is broken, the finishes in the bathroom are shabby, stains on the floor, the list goes on and on. The setting is truly stunning, and it seems as if the owners are upgrading, but it is totally unacceptable to charge R2,400 per night while the place is still in the process of upgrading and in such a state. It's not nice for us to give a bad review when we know the tourism industry is struggling at the moment, but the conditions we found at the price we paid are unacceptable.
Very nice location but the place appears run down and neglected. Furniture is old, uncomfortable, impractical and needs to be replaced. Paving outside is full of bushes and garden is overgrown. Only stayed one of the 2 nights we booked.
Delicious wine from the farm itself on arrival is the perfect start to the weekend. The units are beautifully clean, equipped with enough wood to keep the fireplace crackling all evening and enough of your neighbors not to hear a sound. We only ventured a fraction of the walking/mountain bike route, but it's really beautiful and delicious with your dogs. I might have been a bit scared of snakes in the summer and maybe kept dogs on leashes. Ours very soon ran heroically through the many streams and I'm convinced they would have gone swimming in the ponds in the summer too. Just take waterproof shoes with you or be prepared to take off your shoes because the walk often takes you through shallow streams. However, the path to the waterfall has the lot of rain makes us blow the retreat, but I'm sure in the summer it will be an unforgettable experience. The surrounding area's many and highly rated wine farms are to be visited and chosen, which makes staying two nights here almost too little. For sure a peaceful, unspoilt and scenic weekend away, where city dwellers can remember again how dark it really gets at night with only the few houses far in the valley where a light or two burns at night apart from the stars above you!

Some of the furniture needs replacing or repairing. The sleeper couch was very uncomfortable for sleeping on.
The cottages are in a superb location with 360 degree views. You can choose to be active and hike and swim and bike, or you can lie around on your own lawn. The choice is yours. It was a beautiful getaway for us.
The house is very well equipped and clean. The staff is friendly and very helpful, we felt very much at home. The view from the house is breathtakingly beautiful. We had a nice walk and enjoyed the natural beauty. Very comfortable and would recommend the place to anyone who wants to get away from the hustle and bustle.
A most enjoyable stay with absolute tranquility, noise-free setting with beautiful views and friendly hosts. Highly recommended.
The house is well-equipped, spacious, clean, with a wonderful view. Fireplace is a winner. We booked for 3 days, and in the end we stayed for 4 days.
We very much enjoyed our stay. Friendly and helpful owners and staff. The vineyard is a nice place to take a walk to see the extend of the property. If you are looking for a really peaceful and quiet location, this is the place to stay.
When we arrived, there was no one at reception, and the contact person indicated on the door was unreachable. No information was provided regarding the number of unit reserved for us. Finally got contact number from other contact person from another guest. Again no response - only informed a little later which house. Took about an hour before we could move into unit. Our unit had a small fridge - freezer compartment completely frozen, and no ice cube trays. Fridge was also dirty. The accommodation is marketed as luxury - serious cottage maintenance and painting required. It would appear that owners/management are not really interested. NB - Google maps - necessary to make correct route and turn off information adjustment.
What a gem of a place! The view was just incredible. Real little piece of heaven!

We had a good rest!
We really enjoyed the cottage. Comfortable accommodation with an incredible view of the valley. Bushmanspad's wine is also very good and I would definitely recommend the wine tasting.
The service was poor. The unit is only equipped with towels after 3 days. No fan in the middle of a heat wave. Uncomfortably hot. The mouse that stayed in the folding sofa in the living room disturbed the night's rest. Fortunately, the quietness and beautiful scenery made up for the lack of service.
Peaceful. Just what is needed to unwind from city life.
Beautiful place with friendly people. Only negative comment is that it gets very hot (one day was 45°) and house has no cooling. We will definitely be back in the cooler months.
