54 guests' feedbackEverything very nice and clean and everyone so friendly.
It was very nice and to think it was only 5 km from the town.
We were warmly welcomed. Our accommodation at Bushwhacked was quaint and adequate.
It is a very nice place for a peaceful getaway.
Just what we needed (again) before and after our race. Everything is just perfect! Thank you once again for allowing us to come and wind down. We will be back next year.
I loved the house we stayed in. The woodwork in the house is incredibly beautiful. We will definitely stay there again when visiting family in Barberton. Thank you very much for the nice stay.
It's a charming, clean, peaceful place. I would love to spend a few days there sometime. The hosts are great.
Two other rooms in the house with guests but shared well.
The duck-down pillows, the view while braaing, and the hospitality of the owner made it a gem in Barberton.
Lovely place to sleep with a beautiful view and cute little braai place.
No problems and will go there again when in the area. Owner was very welcoming and the place was clean and tidy. I will be going back in the future.
Very nice woodland feel with views over Barberton.
The road to the accommodation is not good and an ordinary car might not make it up the mast.
I booked for 2 nights away in a promised quiet and peaceful place. Beautiful photos and view. Owner was very friendly when she met us. Woolworths tissues and double ply toilet paper and expensive coffee do not make up for accommodation. She said she upgraded us and I shudder to think what that would have been. The bedding from Mr Price is reasonable and was clean, only dead bugs in it. The first morning we woke up to blaring music from one of their workers who went on to Loadshedding. We drove to town instead it was so disturbing. No bird calls with the noise of the unit where he worked. The dogs beg all the time when you barbecue and the barbecue area was still wet so could not use it, was such a wheelbarrow effect. The chickens are around the unit all day so it has a bit of a farm feel. View is reasonable. Half built places and rubbish on yard. Maybe their guest house is better. At night there is the severe noise that comes from Barberton's rush of vehicles. So no sitting quietly outside. They will have to repair with the sistafoam that they used to install window frames and have already crumbled and left gaping openings, any snake can sail into. I would not recommend their place at all.
Our hostess welcomed us with kindness and thoughtfulness. The view from Barberton is the best!
The house is located in an excellent position with a great view over this extremely old valley. The owner does a lot of his own woodwork and the house was built with his own hands too which gives it a very rustic feel.
We really enjoyed our stay at Bushwhacked. It was extremely neat, tidy and clean. The surroundings are beautiful and I surely needed this breath of fresh air. Also appreciated the fact that for once there were not cheap coffee sachets, but good decent coffee available for those early morning quiet time sessions. Pete was a fantastic host and nearly brought him back with me to Joburg. Will definitely recommend Bushwhacked to anyone who appreciates nature and need that a break from busy schedules out there. 10 out of 5 for me.
The place is extremely affordable and well equipped. Very neat and clean. The only fault I could find was the curtains and blinds that did not close properly. The view over Barberton is beautiful!
Very quiet and peaceful, especially in the evening.
See stars.
Recommended, will come again.
Children wanted to stay there. Think the room upstairs in loft was a winner. Comfortable, cozy unit with all the amenities. Very neat. Thank you very much for a nice weekend.
Bushwhacked provides excellent value for money. Pete is an involved host. It has a great view and is spacious with everything you may need.
Located just outside the town, so all attractions are within striking distance. The only negative is the view at night of the informal settlement's lights.
Ideal place to stay for anyone looking for tranquility, silence and peace. Everything you need in the house. View and sunset from the books. Wish we could have stayed longer!
Value for money. Catherine incredibly hospitable and cheerful. It really felt like we were visiting family we hadn't seen in a long time! I will definitely be back for a quick weekend getaway!
We had the whole house to ourselves, which was wonderful. Friendly welcome by the owner and introduction to the house and its facilities. Even though on a hill on the outskirts of town on a small-holding shops and supermarkets are nearby. The veranda overlooks town and very inviting for a sundowner, braai etc. The road to the property is gravel and probably best negotiated with a vehicle with higher clearance.
We enjoyed it very much! Simple, neat and clean with a lovely farm atmosphere and a very nice view of Barberton and the valley. The beds have decent mattresses with top quality linen and we slept much better than at other more expensive overnight stays. There are even mosquito nets on each bed. What a surprise to get a bottle of real Jacobs coffee (not the plastic coffee in paper bags) something we've never found at any overnight stop.
The house is warm and makes one feel at home. The surroundings are peaceful and beautiful. We are sorry we only stayed one night.
The fact that shower and toilet are in one room is a bit of a challenge for a group. Separate toilet will help a lot. Please. more light in kitchen: above microwave and next to fridge, above table. Stronger Wi-Fi. Although we didn't use the oven this time, a good oven is a plus.
Upon arrival, my wife was skeptical and hesitant. However, the room and the rest of the house are neat and spacious. The shower and toilet area looks like it is not yet finished. I would recommend at least some type of ceiling to hide the bare corrugated iron sheets. It is very quiet though. A security gate and fence will give a better sense of security.
We arrived there, the owner suggested him and said we could choose between 2 rooms. I chose a room with a bathroom and didn't find it. Room was dusty and parking was unsafe.
We changed our travel plans 2 times and Catherine, the owner, accommodated us each time. The accommodation in the town was clean and everything was there. Good value for money.
I would recommend Bushwhacked anytime. It is clean and tidy and the people are friendly.
Lovely contained cottage with kitchenette, bed and shower. Despite being winter, we had our meal outdoors and could admire the beautiful southern sky. Catherine was a great help in checking us in and sent us to all the necessary addresses in town. An ideal stop when passing through Barberton.
The cottage was cosy, full of character and well equipped. The bed was very comfortable with a mosquito net and the view is breathtaking. Friendly reception by the owners, who immediately made us feel comfortable and welcome. Perfect for an overnight stop or a weekend getaway.
I think it's a bit expensive for the room. The terrain surrounding the room isn't very neat.
We received a warm welcome, a peaceful environment to get away. The room was clean and the service of top standard. Definitely a place to visit again.
I stayed in the small cottage. Cosy, quiet, panoramic view, easy to hike up the mountain or walk into town from your doorstep. Just perfect with everything you need in good quality and cared for, yet simple and nothing superfluous. Very friendly host.
Really enjoyed the stay. If you love the Bush, definitely worth it.
It is recommended for those who want to rest in the Lowveld.
Family cottage was really good with stunning view. Owner is very helpful.
We enjoyed spending the night there on our way to Swaziland. The sunset was fantastic.
Good and friendly service received from the owner. Will stay there again for sure.
We enjoyed our stay, just a short gravel road to get there, comfortable bed and linen. You have to share a house with other guests, just one entrance and a communal kitchen. Reminded me of a backpackers setup. Our room had its own bathroom which was good.
Breathtaking and we had a great stay. The people were very friendly and helpful.
Loved the place. Just outside of town. Hosts were very hospitable and friendly. Highly recommended.
We don't feel we got value for our money. In the ad the place was introduced as a "Garden Cottage", but when we got there we saw the name was "Skip's Shack" and the name definitely fits better. There is a very good, large bed in the place, which is actually too big for the room so it is against the wall and it makes it difficult for older people to get in and out of bed. The finish leaves much to be desired, all the venters do not have curtains, some curtains cannot be closed and the curtains were far too long and the hems were stuck with bobby pins. The floors are unfinished cement floors. The bathroom blind was stuck about 20 cm from the bottom and anyone could look in from the outside. The site was not tidy and is not very accessible.
We sat and looked out over the town. Pleasant.
We stayed at Bushwacked for 7 nights and traveled to surrounding areas, Nelspruit, Sabie, Graskop, all are in easy reach and just a short traveling distance of between 1/2 an hour to 2 hours, also went to Pilgrimsrest, just 2 and a half hours' drive. We had a wonderful holiday and enjoyed our stay which was very relaxed, peaceful and away from town, but still very close if you want to eat out or do some shopping. We had the most comfortable beds ever! It was lovely meeting our other housemates from all over the world, Brisbane, Switzerland and Netherlands. We will definitely stay here again if visiting the Lowveld again.
Pete was extremely kind and helpful. I would recommend them to anybody looking for a peaceful and quiet stop over.
Very good value for money and the owner goes out of his way to make you comfortable. We booked a single room with two beds to share, but because he had another room available, he made it available to us at no extra cost. Didn't know such a service still existed in SA.
We had a great weekend at Bushwhacked, a very nice room with lots of light in a very relaxing setting with a great braai terrace and awesome view over Barberton and the valley. The owner was a great guy, very friendly and helpful. You have to be prepared to socialize a bit since the house is shared but that's what we signed up for and we met some nice people! I would definitely advise this place to a friend as a very relaxed and budget-friendly accommodation on the way to Swaziland or if you want to take some hikes around Barberton!
The parking and garden could improve.
