13 guests' feedbackIt was the ideal getaway after a long day of work. Clean, tidy, cozy and a nice private braai area. The fireplace in the house was very welcome with the few windy and cold days we experienced.
The area is peaceful and the house has everything one could need. The owners are very helpful. We will definitely book here again.
Beautiful accommodation and surroundings.
Booking process and communication with the owner was seamless and quick. The owner and rental agents was extremely helpful and always friendly before, during and after our stay. We were 6 adults and 2 kids and everyone had a great time. The house was very clean and had everything we needed for our weekend stay. The braai area in the courtyard is where we spent most of our time when we were home. The table easily accommodated the entire group with room to spare. The area is slightly protected from the wind which was a bonus.
Walking distance to the main beach. Safe for the children. Very nice holiday home.
Had a great time, very relaxing. Accommodation was great. We were a group of 12. Just 1 fridge though, would recommend an extra freezer for large groups.
This home offers character as you enter it. It draws you in as part of the family and leaves you missing the space and warmth when you leave. Ideal location for a short walk to the most beautiful bay in Africa.
Nice spacious and cozy living house with an indoor fireplace that works fantastically! It was raining cats and dogs when we were there! Pet-friendly courtyard with grass and cement, very nice for our 2 dogs. Lovely bed in the master bedroom! The cottage needs maintenance: The front door knob has fallen out, probably due to rust. The lady at the rental office sent someone to fix it, but it fell out again the next day. The exterior lights' screws also need to be replaced. It was wonderful to be able to walk to the beach.
Lovely weekend. It's a pity the dishwasher was broken. Thank you for the discount. The fourth bedroom had no warm water and the braai grid needs to be replaced. We bought new ones and left it there.
The accommodation was exactly as expected. Would definitely recommend.
The house has everything you need with two additional outside rooms and a nice covered barbecue area. We had a great time there and can recommend it.
By Design Cottage offers everything you need for a getaway near the ocean. We were also able to welcome a group of friends and family in the spacious outdoor braai-area next to the well-equipped kitchen. In the cold, wet weather the thatched roof house was quite cold and we thoroughly enjoyed the using the big fireplace. A heater in the bedroom would be an asset. Although there was no hot water initially, the owner acted quickly to solve the problem. Contrary to the warning of the information leaflet, there was enough toilet paper for our stay, but you have to take your own towels. The hot water bottles and extra blankets were a plus!

House rules
Bath- and beach towels need to be supplied by guests.A standard cleaning fee of R 600.00 is payable before arrival. Please note that out-of-the-ordinary cleaning and repairs due to damage or abuse of the property will result in a deduction on your breakage deposit. This is a self-catering unit, washing up of dishes etc remains your own responsibility, and must not be left for cleaning staff after your stay.
A fully refundable breakage deposit, depending on the number of persons, will be levied on each booking.
Please note this is a fire-sensitive area, thatched estate. Small fires, inside and outside, are permitted, preferably with charcoal.
Guest will not have access to all the rooms only for the number of people that are booked.
The garage is not included in the accommodation.
For off-peak seasons: Upon booking the guests have the exclusive use of the garden and outdoor entertainment area. Bedrooms are made available according to number of guests included in the booking.
