The location was unfortunately a disappointment.
Everything was perfect and neat. Plenty of blankets and the fireplace was warm and cozy. Plenty of space for 4 people.
Our unit was serviced every day, if we ran out of milk or cookies it was topped up. We were provided with fresh drinking water. You feel very safe and have enough privacy.

Fabulous stay in a friendly town.
The accommodation is nice, clean and tidy. There were a few maintenance problems: the towel rails were loose, the toilet seat was loose and the TV's remote control batteries were dead. The accommodation is close to the main street which causes a bit of noise here and there, but it wasn't a big problem for us.

Location in high traffic business area. Cars drive past forever, where there is a balcony. Place is on top of businesses. Self-care inventory is poor.

This was our last stop after 4 weeks of traveling through our wonderful country. Spent two nights in By the Way Guesthouse, the suite was fully equipped with a kitchen. The room was spacious and big. The owner Amy really put in a lot of effort. The fresh herbs from their own garden were also special.

The room was so beautiful! I just wanted to pack some of the paintings. Unfortunately it was too close to the main thoroughfare for us, but it was lovely to be within walking distance of everything!

Was a pleasant stay. The rooms are wonderfully warm in winter, even if you don't make a fire. Of course we made a fire in the fireplace. It was cozy! Breakfast was nice. Maybe just offer alternative breakfasts not the same every day. Will definitely go again.

You just feel how all the stress disappears when you sit on your balcony and look out over the mountains. Breakfast is included which is always a bonus. Meadow and Haze rooms are very spacious and were beautifully clean with a refreshing smell that welcomed you. The rooms were well-equipped for self-catering. The rooms were serviced daily and were a welcome homecoming after a day of sightseeing. Breakfast every day was excellent and then there was also a delicious home-baked bread to finish it off.

Really enjoyed my stay, the room is beautiful and tasteful. There is fresh milk which is always a bonus. Kinda looked out for a biscuit that wasn't there. The only concern for me was that the WiFi was not very good, and you need a new code every time if yours no longer works. and a different code for each device. Furthermore, I would recommend the place to everyone.

The owner moved our room from a second floor room to a first floor and promised us lunch as compensation, this was never delivered. I wouldn't bother in a ground floor room, you are sort of in everyone's business and the cell and wifi signal was really poor. If you can't get a 2nd floor room, I would rethink coming. Asked for a braai and saw one, but wasn't told if I could use it or not. The breakfast in the room was really nice.
Hostess immediately made us feel at home. Food is delicious and one can see that they prepare it specially for the guest. Would recommend this guesthouse to any traveller.

The guesthouse is excellent! The staff are friendly, helpful and make you feel at home. The rooms are very well laid out and it feels like a 5 star hotel. They seem to specialize in "breakfast in bed", but I think they are the specialist when it comes down to it. The food is honestly the best I've ever had at a guest house. I will definitely stop by "By the way" again when we are in Clarens.
Stunning room and delicious breakfast! We really enjoyed staying at By the Way, it is round the corner from all the activities in the square. Amy was a wonderful host and the breakfast was super delicious! Amy really puts in the effort to make you feel spoiled. The rooms are amazing and looked exactly like the pictures as advertised on the website. The setting was very peaceful and relaxed with a view of the mountains. I would recommend this guest house to anyone who wants to visit Clarens.

The unit is too close to the street and unfortunately it is a problem if you sit on the porch. Furthermore, we enjoyed the stay and would recommend the unit.
