Many, many thanks for an unforgettable weekend. Talitha is a wonderful hostess and the daily cleaning service just makes you feel like you are a little off for the weekend. The house is great with everything one could need. Close enough to Clarens and Golden Gate and just far enough that you can relax. Beautiful bathrooms, fully equipped kitchen, and a lovely porch where you can have fun. I definitely recommend it for friends, families with teenagers (the stairs will be a little nerve wracking with small children). Will definitely visit again.

Caledon was great. The accommodation was ideal for our stay, clean, spacious and great value. The view was incredible and they provide both firewood and heaters to help keep you warm in winter.

It was our 2nd stay at this wonderful place. The best holiday is spent here. The owner and staff are super helpful and the unit is just heaven on earth for us. This will become our annual winter holiday spot for many years to come.

The view from the patio is beautiful and very picturesque. The host was polite, friendly and responsive and went beyond her duty of duty to return a laptop cord left behind. We had a great stay and would definitely go back to Caledon Country House if the opportunity presents itself.

Our recent long weekend stay in Clarens, Free State, was a mixed experience largely shaped by the accommodation we booked. While the location boasted breathtaking views and potential for a memorable getaway, numerous maintenance issues left us with a sense of disappointment. Upon arrival, the exterior of the house immediately raised concerns. The poorly maintained walls, with cracks and peeling paint, along with aged wooden door and window frames, gave an initial impression of neglect. Inside, our concerns only grew as we encountered several issues detracting from our comfort. The main downstairs bedroom presented damp issues, emitting an unpleasant odor that persisted throughout our stay. Furthermore, the uneven distribution of water pressure, particularly on the left side of the house, affected the functionality of amenities such as the upstairs shower and kitchen and downstairs bathroom taps. We reported these issues to the owner and she promptly sent a handyman out to inspect and try and rectify the issue, however the underlying problem seemed to stem from inadequate maintenance. Rainfall during our stay revealed major water leaks around the main glass doors leading to the braai area. This necessitated makeshift measures to prevent water damage to the dining and lounge areas. Additionally, reports from my sister staying in the other upstairs bedroom of a bat infestation in the roof further diminished their comfort and sleep quality, prompting them to relocate to the common area. Despite these setbacks, we made the most of our stay and enjoyed the beauty of the surroundings. However, it's evident that proper maintenance is essential to fully realize the potential of this property. With attention to detail and timely repairs, it could undoubtedly become a sought-after destination. In conclusion, while the accommodation offers stunning views and a promising location, the numerous maintenance issues impacted our experience. We would consider returning if these concerns are effectively addressed, but until then, we may explore alternative options for our next stay in Clarens.

"Such a "shitty" experience never again."

Caledon Country House - requires maintenance - electrically - the stove plates work; however, to turn the plates on, one requires a pliers. The gas stove had no gas; however, it was refilled the following day, but still did not work. The electrical lights outside did not work, even when the maintenance guy tried to replace the globes. The handyman was wonderful and tried to assist us. On Friday evening, my son-in-law went to the downstairs toilet. Whilst on the toilet, the toilet started to overflow onto the bathroom floor. We had to lay towels down so that it would not flow into the bedroom. Once again, the maintenance guy came out to clean and returned in the morning to try and sort the problem out. The host never spoke to us verbally, only on WhatsApp, which is unprofessional. She offered to return our money for the last night. Totally unprofessional. (She should have found alternative accommodation and requested we consider moving), not tell us to find accommodation and she will refund us.

We had a very nice stay at Caledon Country House. Will definitely stay there again with friends for a weekend. I would like to suggest that they just check to see if the lights are working. There were a few that didn't work. Thank you.

It can be a very nice and cozy home, once the maintenance work is done. The cleaning requires a lot of attention and supervision. Although there is severe drought, the outside environment could be better cared for. The available devices are not in good condition or not in working condition. Our requirements were not met.

Very peaceful atmosphere and very nice view. Attention can be given to the road to the house as well as the garden and maintenance. Garage doors will be welcome. The locks on many of the doors are difficult to close. Some of the exterior lights do not work. If the items can be fixed it will be a very nice guest house. The location and peaceful atmosphere are ideal if you want to get away from the daily hustle and bustle.
