We didn't arrive until after eight in the evening due to delays on the road and were pleasantly surprised when we could still drink something cold on the stoep in the Karoo heat. The receptionist was very nice and our room very comfortable. We were so pleased that we decided to sleep there again on our return trip.
Unfortunately, a few small details made this a place that I would not recommend. No curtain over the glass window leading to the courtyard means no privacy, and a broken blind in the bathroom added to this. The worst factor, however, was the use of a single bed sheet on a double bed. My wife and I had to choose who would sleep under the sheet and who would sleep under the very old, well-used and unsavoury blanket. Unacceptable! We also had to ask for toilet paper, something that should be noticed by the personnel.
The service was beyond perfect. The food was excellent. Our room at Camdeboo Cottages was spectacular and exactly what we needed on the second stop of our road trip. Thank you.

It is beautiful and peaceful there and we will stay there again.
The owner can provide mosquito repellents in each room. On our visit there were many mosquitoes in the room which would certainly spoil our night's rest, but luckily there is a Spar nearby where we could go and buy something. Owner does not provide such a thing according to the assistant. On our visit there was no soap in the bathroom. When we pointed this out to the assistant she blamed the cleaning team but did not offer to let us get a bar of soap. Weak! Fortunately Spar came to our rescue again.
Meals were good & value for money.
The 1986 magazines next to the bedside table sum up the facility. It is a very nice building from the past that has been restored, but the facilities in the house are outdated. The main shower doesn't work, the bedding is outdated, and so are most of the facilities. The location in Graaff-Reinet is good, but it stopped here.

We could only pick up WiFi at the pool and not in the unit, lots of unwanted elements that make it uncomfortable when you walk around town and make you feel uncomfortable and unsafe, but otherwise it's a really nice town.

Good accommodation, but it's very old and quite expensive compared to other places. Bathroom is e.g. very far from the bedroom and the unit we were in is very noisy on the street across the hotel. They have good food and it's convenient to eat there and not go out.
The accommodation maintenance needs some attention and daily servicing of units should be mandatory.
The room, although clean, was not what we expected The shower head was so clogged we could not shower comfortably. No bed mats next to the bed, and a cold teal floor. Old furniture.
Based across the road from the Drostdy Hotel. It felt as though they were overbooked, insufficient space in the restaurant. The restaurant offered service until 9pm, but couldn't handle the order volumes, resulting in order times of nearly 2 hours. It may be better if meals were pre-ordered. The value offered on the menu was also a problem. The rooms were ok for an overnight. We didn't feel overly secure, there were a couple of knocks on the street facing doors and windows through the night. We would be hard pressed to book there again.
No. 14 is a room that no traveler would ever choose for himself. Minimal amenities at maximum price. Smells like a drain. People on the street can see directly into the unit's bathroom if the front door is not closed. Pictures on the walls were poor quality 'prints' already 40 years ago. Worst experience of Graaff-Reinet's accommodation facilities from 1974 to date.

We were just passing through and therefore only needed one night's stay. This place was perfect. I appreciate the extra attention our bikes have received. There was no place to leave them and in the blink of an eye our bikes were tied up and standing right in front of our room! We appreciate it very much. Thank you.
Nice clean and tidy room. But dinner and breakfast were not great.
During Covid where the tourism industry specifically suffered a lot, one would expect that the industry would do everything possible to get customers back. The place has the most incredible potential to be the place of choice in Graaff-Reinet to stay. Historical, centrally located while still in a quiet street, own restaurant and bar and delicious restaurants in the area. I slept there for two nights. Something that is already unusual for the place. So what is the problem? Management, or rather the lack thereof. And make no mistake, there are a whole lot of them! Rooms are clean but not clean. Wipe over the wall plugs, and months of sticky garbage sits on your hand. The TV in the room screen is so dirty that if it worked I wonder if you could see. Sewage smell in the bathrooms through the pipes because the room and the kitchen share the same drain pipe and nothing is done to keep it hygienic. Kitchen cloths look like floor cloths. TV didn't work once and for the first hour after a very long drive, we had to share our space with a stranger who was "fixing" the TV. The worst, however, is the never mind attitude of the management. The first night we requested that we put a sign against our door to say that this is not the entrance to reception. This after we had to open the door together and say that it is not reception. No excuse. No rush, just said they will do something. They didn't. It wasn't until late on the second afternoon when I lost the last bit of patience, and could no longer handle being a recipient, and not being paid for it, and I threatened to go and buy a permanent pen and the by writing, that something has been done. Again no apology, no explanation, not even about the TV. To the owner - you can do so much better! That evening they sent the cook to come and apologize. Why her? She has nothing to do with it. She didn't even listen to our request. In fact her food was delicious and she and the lady working at the bar were the only ones who didn't disappoint. If you decide to stay here avoid number 16!
The cottage provided everything needed, and was wonderfully cool and clean when we got there. The welcome was extra friendly. It is close to all the tourist destinations in Graaff-Reinet. I can highly recommend Camdeboo Cottages.

Our only negative, but very small negative point is that my parents with whom we did the booking (one reference number) did not sleep near us, but quite a walk down the road to another wing,' another building. It was also clear that the reception did not immediately bring the two discussions together. At first they only showed the family cottage and checked on inquiry for the extra 2 beds and then confirmed it.

Cottage was clean, location was good and parking secure. Was annoyed when told that we could not use the pool because they had just put acid in it to clean it. We selected the accommodation because it had a pool and was looking forward to a swim after a long days travel. Beds comfy, noisy ceiling fan in the second room which the kids could not sleep with, so moved the fan from the lounge into the room. Location was good, walking distance from some good restaurants.

The children had a wonderful time cooling off in the pool and playing after the long drive. We also ordered a delicious dinner that we could eat in our little house. It was a positive experience.
The Camdeboo Cottages are delightfully cozy and full of history. It feels like you are visiting your own home. There is a swimming pool and beautiful garden. The fans and air conditioning in the rooms are lovely. Breakfast is value for money. And don't be shy to ask for more. The cottages' kitchen is not very spacious, but everything you could possibly need is there. It's not the most luxurious place, but everything is in working order and clean and tidy. The staff are friendly and helpful. We stayed there for three days and would definitely recommend it.

The rooms are very spacious and the location fantastic. The staff is very friendly and helpful and moved us to a bigger room for more space with the small children. Is walking distance from the museums, shops and restaurants. Although there is an optional dinner on offer, I suggest eating at Polka, which is just around the corner. The pork chops were not very tasty, supplier delivered different than usual and Samantha compensated us with a delicious Don Pedro. All the staff members are very helpful. Comfortable pool and a very good start to the holiday. I can recommend Camdeboo for sure. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

It was a beautiful place, the people there are very helpful and hospitable. We could have a good barbecue there, Karoo lamb chops so good. Their menu looked so delicious. I would stay there again anytime and this time for a few days.

We stayed at Camdeboo for 2 nights. Was very hospitable and helpful. The hostess made sure we had everything we needed and could put together a nice drink or milkshake on top of that. The food is very good and you don't even have to drive around to look for a place to eat, especially if everything is closed. We had 3 units. Our only complaint is the plumbing. Neither unit's faucets worked very well and drains were quickly clogged. Other than that, we couldn't find fault. Thank you again for a nice stay.
Delicious breakfast!
Even though our goal was to visit the Valley of Desolation, we were foiled by bad weather. The warmth of the reception and accommodation at Camdeboo Cottages was thus big compensation. Sam (we didn't catch her surname) was spontaneous and friendly, personally showed us our unit and made suggestions regarding eateries. She has only been in Graaff-Reinet four months herself, but is enthusiastic about the town (even though she finds it relatively busy). We will stay at Camdeboo Cottages again, the Valley is also still on our list!

Was very peaceful and pleasant. There might just be a plan made for trailer storage. Parking is a bit tight for cars and trailers.
We decided to sleep here on short notice on a friend's recommendation. Easy to find and check in. We couldn't book the cheaper one-bedroom unit and had to go for the, somewhat more expensive, house, still one bedroom but with TV lounge and kitchen. The house is very basically furnished and old, but at least there was air conditioning to heat the room. Comfy sleep, but wouldn't recommend it for more than one night.
Upon arrival, TV did not work. Room on day 2 at 12:40 still not serviced. Upon enquiry, we were told that the staff only work until 13:00. However, it has been cleared. Young staff are not always professional.
The guest room and gardens are very clean and tidy. Good reception. However, the bedding needs urgent attention. Cushions, mattresses and towels are not in good condition. Furthermore, the guest house uses asbestos heaters and electric blanket to warm the room and bed. Only a single thin blanket, and heavy bedcloth over the bed. It did not meet the standard of the rest of the guest house. It isn't everyone's cup of tea. A duvet would have been better. The breakfast, which is not included in the rate, was pleasant. However, hot milk for the cereal and coffee had to be asked.
The place was neat and clean but the shower head needs attention (like most accommodation). One pays a lot of money and expects these things to work.
We were received with a lady who conveyed without any sympathy that there was a double booking. My inquiry was originally for a queen size bed as both of our children sleep on the same bed with us. The booking contact let me book a king size instead and I asked her to make sure it was recorded as such on their system, because on the website it still indicates the "queen room". She ensured it was recorded as such on their system. The receptionist on the day of arrival said she was giving a double room with a single sleeper couch. We were very displeased and she just interrupted us and kept saying we would have a nice evening. Our family could not fit on the double bed that night, my husband tried to sleep on the sleeper couch, which was in poor condition, the bed was not made and we had to experience all the cracks and dirt of the couch. I expect Camdeboo to refund us the difference between the king size room and the double room. The receptionist and the lady who showed us the room appeared incompetent and overwhelmed. They should be able to do better planning and management, instead of complaining about the busy season. The lady also gave away that they already knew about the double booking a week before our arrival and decided not to notify us after all. It was very bad for us, hardly batting an eye after the long road. We made a proper reservation for a king-size room and paid the full amount on the day and still have not received a proper explanation from Camdeboo Cottages as to why we had to sleep in a double room. The vehicles were also not safe in my opinion, they were parked right outside in the street under a roof.

Second time we've stayed here and thoroughly enjoyed it again. The beauty of the cottages and the town impressed us. We enjoyed the history of the town. We recommend the accommodation to everyone.

Although we only stayed one night, the service and help we received was really good. They arranged safe parking for us as we were transporting bicycles. The unit is large and well equipped. A family will be able to visit here for a longer period of time.

We often stay at Camdeboo Cottages on our way to the Cape. Beautiful town, and the cottages fit in nicely with the architecture of the beautiful town. The food is always delicious and the people very pleasant. The only improvement needed is the beds. In unit 4, the master bedroom bed was really not comfortable.
We spent the night at Camdeboo Cottages and unfortunately did not have the same experience from them as last year. Maybe the management changed but the welcoming and neat facilities weren't there as always. We will not make use of them again unfortunately.
There wasn't a mattress for my daughter. Had to ask them. They wanted to ask my sister's children for money again for their extra mattress. Luckily they had proof of payment. Other than that, everything was peaceful and pleasant.

This overnight stay at Camdeboo will be a piece of good memory for me and my spouses. The beautiful surroundings in which the cottages are located and the neatly maintained appearance create a special atmosphere of "wanting to come again". The concept of tidying up the past and using it as something special in the modern world seems to be a successful recipe.

We only slept here on the way to Cape Town, but it was a very positive experience. Our group was one more than we had booked for, and a mattress and bedding were arranged in no time.

We found the B & B very suited to our needs, the area very safe, very friendly and helpful. Staff at the B & B were absolutely GREAT! The downside was there was no M-Net in the room and it was advertised. We only asked about it on the last day and it was sorted out by that evening. There was also no dinners available in the evenings. We also told the staff about a rooster that was next door that started crowing at 4.30am every morning which was a nuisance as we could not go back to sleep and we were very tired from exploring all day. They have promised to sort this out for future visitors, so please follow that up as it was really the only negative thing. We had a wonderful stay in the Camdeboo area. Quite different and we had lots to do and see over the 4 days we were there. Thank You

Cottage no 16 was our first overnight stay, very comfortable and clean with self catering facilities. We ate out as there are several restaurants within walking distance and it is only 2 blocks from the main street for those wanting to explore some of the historic sights.

We did book a self catering cottage, anticipating to cook for ourselves but were pleasantly surprised to find you served dinner and breakfast. We did however find the dinner rather expensive. Our room was extremely noisy with both car traffic and pedestrians.
Accomodation was quaint. Restaurant was very disapointing and and had to send meal back. Overallaccomodation was however was value for money and would book again
