Our stay was fantastic. The view from the balcony was breathtaking and waking up to the roar of lions was an absolute first. The security was good and the room very tidy. The absence of a television set was a bonus and added to quality time.

A pleasant room with a covered stoep, overlooking greenery; one would not think one is at the edge of town. Although the tar road towards Cango Caves goes past, there is minimal traffic noise during the night. The room is equipped with all essentials, and the bed is comfortable. An added bonus is active bird life, mooing cows, and the occasional roar or grunt from the lions next door at the Wildlife Park.
Had a great time and grilled. Luckily it wasn't the hottest weather!

Cango's Rest is one of the worst places that I have ever stayed in, and I have stayed in a few. The rooms are horrible with no effort being made to make it look nice or welcoming. Ugly walls, beds, bedding. The bathroom is the worst; it makes you feel like you are staying in the cheapest backpacker hostel.

The accommodation is basic but you have all you need. It is well situated and the manager was extremely helpful and accommodating.
Cango's Rest is right next to the Cango park and about 30 km from the caves. Unfortunately, both places are extremely expensive and for a family of 4, one place will cost you around R1000.
Was just unbelievably hot and owner immediately provided fans for everyone. But when the sun went down it was lovely.
Gerda and her team went out of their way to make our stay pleasant. Nothing was missing, load shedding did not bother. Breakfast and dinner suited us well. In addition, the roaring lions created the right atmosphere early in the morning.
Shower doors need attention, water spills on the floor. An extra roll of toilet paper per room was missing.
We were kindly welcomed and immediately felt at home. Late afternoon and mornings one can hear the lions roaring. Our view is incredibly beautiful and felt safe at all times. For a place next to a driveway, it's really quiet. Our place was really nice clean and tidy. Would recommend anyone to stay there.

The place only deserves two stars in my opinion. The mattress of our place is soft and slept through, the bedclothes are old and washed, the pillows (only one per person) are such an old soft pillow. There was no toilet paper in the bathroom, I had to ask for it, nor towels, I had to ask for it. If we go camping with our tent I have much more luxury facilities than that! I will never go there again. I can't believe this is on your list! I was so pissed that I even wanted to move the second night and only lost my money and paid for the new place as well, but everything was fully booked due to the "event" that was there in De Rust. I wanted to move to De Rust, but everything was full.

Sitting by a fire at night and listening to the lions, frogs and owls was soul-invigorating. At night you listen to the white lions and early in the morning you can enjoy the lions' last roar for the night with coffee in hand. The place is central and offers the basic necessities. The host and hostess are very pleasant people. We will definitely see Cango's Rest again!
