53 guests' feedbackThe food was excellent and the hiking trails in various directions were beautiful. All the people there were very friendly!
The rooms are private and very comfortable. There is percolator coffee available in the room every day. The nature is amaizing. The food is fantastic. We had a wonderful rest.
Amazing place to clear the mind.
Very nice stay. Calm atmosphere. Breathtaking surroundings.
Beautiful surroundings. Many walking routes with different degrees of difficulty and also many additional activities and entertainment.
As above; an excellent resort in a beautiful environment.
The surroundings are very beautiful and all the staff at the hotel were very friendly and professional. Unfortunately, the hotel still looks exactly as it did 13 years ago and the mattresses, towels etc. urgently needs to be replaced and renovated. The bed is also not a large bed, but two single beds pushed together which was disappointing.
Food was delicious, hiking trails beautiful, driving through the area before arriving at destination is not fun.
The scenery is exceptional and the meals unheard of. Rooms of good quality and well maintained. Some rooms are hard to reach, to be expected in the mountains!
Excellent meals with friendly staff.
We stayed in the Presidential Suite and everything was perfect. From the service at the reception, meals, cleanliness and view were absolutely fantastic. One of the best destinations I have ever visited.
Food was excellent.
It was worth visiting Cathedral Peak Hotel. The road was just very bad up there.
Overall we had a really good stay, but, for the amount of money paid to stay at the hotel we did expect a little more. The rooms were standard, the aircon/heater was not in a working condition, only one complimentary bottle of water is provided at the start of the stay and some of the reception staff were not very friendly. We opted for a lunch pack on one of the days, and at R120 pp, we were very disappointed to receive a cheese and lettuce sandwich (some of the other items included a mini cheese, fruit, a boiled egg, other small lunchables and a juice box) - not worth R120 at all. But overall the food, bar and dining staff were all exceptionally friendly and the views are to die for. Will definitely go again, but will pack our own snacks, sandwiches and water supply for hiking trips.
The stay was pleasant. There were things that could have been improved on. We were the very last suite in the accommodation even though there were many that weren't occupied. A pity that there wasn't an air-condition and the fan did not really help much. Even though the bathroom was nice, the shower is quite small.
The staff is great. They are very helpful and friendly. Beautiful location and must have been top class. We booked the "Presidential suite" as I wanted to spoil my wife. The golf cart provided we dubbed Chitty Bang Bang. The frame of the roof kept falling apart and he could barely climb the steep hill. The Jacuzzi tub was beautiful and romantic until you turned on the sprayers and there was smelly gray/sewage water spraying out. Had to open all the windows for the whole day to get the smell out. It was reported, but nothing was done about it. Meals were acceptable at best. No wines on the wine list were available and both bars were almost empty and you had to take what they had. Booked a round of golf in advance and hauled two sets of golf along. Golf course was then for spring maintenance. Understandable, but a little knowledge would have been welcome, especially for the storage space in my car. Dress for dinner is semi-formal. Acceptable. Many younger people were shown the door wearing neat shorts and collared shirts. Understandable. However, sweat suits and slippers are allowed. Incomprehensible. Unfortunately will never visit the place again.
Everything was very nice. We couldn't do a lot of the things due to Covid. So we were a bit disappointed by that. Heated swimming pool also didn't work.
See stars.
Beautiful scenery, loved the walks and friendly service.
Too much to do so go as long as you can! It's beautiful, peaceful and just the right place to go if you're looking for a break! We will go again and again and again.
The mountains are incredibly beautiful. The valley where the hotel is located is green and looks unspoiled. There are various activities to keep you busy, but the walk in the area is the icing on the cake. The meals that were served were exquisite and tasty. The rooms comfortable and clean.
And there was snow, cold and rain on 14 and 15 Aug 2021. Wonderful cold mountain experience. The rooms starting with numbers 200 are fantastically designed. Good space and nice underfloor heating. The meal is fantastic. Buffet breakfast and dinner were great. The mountain hiking trails are so nice, in nature. The road there is a bit challenging with a few potholes.
Definitely a recommended place, hotel right in the middle of the mountains with plenty of trekking access and activities within the hotel. Great place for little one too.
Nice surroundings, residential units well furnished.
Good mountain view, nice bar, and is very Covid aware. The food is incredibly delicious.
There are also many daily activities to choose from such as hiking, golf, fishing, tennis to name but a few.
Food is amazing and there are various activities to keep you busy.
We had a lovely stay!
As this place is very secluded and not much else to do at the hotel, they need to have more entertainment if one is staying for more than 2 or 3 days. Golf course not enough if you are not a golfer.
Secure parking is far from rooms - golf cart service can make a big difference here.
Very friendly staff, clean and tidy and beautiful mountains. View from the back rooms which are more expensive not so nice, because one looks out on a corrugated iron roof. The parking area could be much better and paying extra for a carport is unnecessary. The TV and setting of the channels were outdated and the remote control did not work. The food could be better, e.g. the roast beef was too raw and tough for me, desserts all looked beautiful but didn't taste that great, the calamari wasn't cleaned properly and had those plasticy bits in it that pull like a rubber band when you bite into them. The teatime snacks ranged from delicious to poor. In general, maybe on the expensive side compared to other hotels, because we visit different resorts in the Drakensberg every year.
Value for money. From arrival tot depature. The food was delicious and the walking trail was an unforgetable experience.
The peace and quiet of the area was awesome.
The staff are friendly and helpful. Food is fantastic. Facilities are neat and clean. For a good rest, we highly recommend Cathedral Peak Hotel!
The stay at Cathedral Peak Hotel was the highlight of our honeymoon. The variety of walking routes is fantastic and there is so much to do! The food was excellent and the staff all very friendly and helpful. Truly worth it!
Beautiful area, friendly and helpful staff, ideal for people who like walking in nature. Outstanding breakfast and dinner buffet.
Reception staff could be more accommodating.
A lovely place to have a holiday, but the activities are a bit limited with kids under the age of 3 years.
Beautiful scenery - lovely large room with a view. Bathroom a bit disappointing for the price.
Cathedral Peak really needs some maintenance, for example a paint job. A small fridge in the room might be a good thing. The meals were off the books - they were 5 star!
It was so special for our 20th wedding anniversary!
The hotel is located in the most beautiful part of the Drakensberg that we have visited. The view over the mountains is indescribably beautiful and the walking paths breathtaking. The room (105) has an unobstructed view, is beautifully furnished, clean and away from the hustle and bustle. The buffet meals are unbeatable with a wide variety. Forget diet! The service was perfect, efficient and friendly. Very child friendly. For me, the only negative experience was the fact that the hotel initially quoted me full price even though we qualified for a special offer that appears on the hotel's website. Only upon enquiry, is the quotation adjusted. First impressions are quite important and here the hotel's image suffered. But still highly recommended!
Just sorry for the drought. I hope you get rain soon. Meals are also very tasty!
The best place to spend a deserved holiday. Delicious food, friendly staff. The best view of the mountains. Everything was just brilliant.
Great location, great people, great food, great accommodation, and good price for money. We could not have hoped for better and we will be back as soon as we can!
Lovely place, no complaints.
Excellent. One day was just too short to enjoy the landscape.
Received an upgrade which was terrific, and will definitely visit more frequently!
Brilliant stay, great service.
Lovely, relaxing and enjoyable.
Great place with good meals and friendly staff.
Thoroughly enjoyed stay at Cathedral Peak. Facilities good from bowling to tennis to golf to guided walks and entertainment in the evening. Something for everyone. The shop was also useful - especially as I had left my suitcase in Cape Town!
Unfortunately we had a hell of a doof-doof Saturday night due to a wedding that was held there.
