Accommodation comprises 4 beautifully appointed rooms. Double or single beds are available and linen, towels and toiletries are provided. To keep the winter chill at bay, electric blankets, heaters and hot water bottles are available. The lounge has a fireplace and TV with selected DStv channels.
Enjoy the heart of South Africa's most scenic dairy farming area with cool, snowy winters or the sunny, temperate days of summer, spectacular autumn colours and blossoms in spring. Guests are invited to come and enjoy this stately home and be rejuvenated by our magnificent countryside. The hustle and bustle of city life will quickly be forgotten as you make yourself at home in our tranquil and picturesque setting.
The Sani Pass is an experience not to be missed. A 4x4 vehicle is required, but if you do not have your own, we can organise a trip up with one of the tour operators. Enjoy a drink at the highest pub in Africa at 2 874m. The pass is the only access route between KwaZulu-Natal and Lesotho. Please note that passports are required to cross the border.
The Sani Pass and surrounds offer some special and endemic birding - Drakensberg Rockjumpers, Mountain Pipits and Drakensberg Siskins. Guided birding tours and guided hikes to the Bushman paintings can also be arranged through us. A favourite hike is to the 'Marching Men' site on the Khanti, a hike of about 5 hours.
Visit the historical Himeville Museum which was built in 1900 as the last of Natal's loop-holed forts before housing prisoners until 1972. An open-air exhibition of settler and agricultural history is surrounded by display rooms housing military, African traditional and even trout fishing memorabilia. The museum is also home to a valued collection of San artefacts.
After a day of adventure and exploring, return to the efficient, caring hospitality and a well deserved good night's sleep at Cedar Garden.

We had a great stay at Cedar Gardens.
Very friendly homely atmosphere. Everything you need for a good night's rest and up to a delicious packed road food package if you leave early! Wonderful overnight stay! We stayed 3 nights!
We had a great stay at Cedar Garden. The reception was very friendly and the rooms neat and clean. Very nice English breakfast and good coffee. The place makes you feel like you are in the English countryside and I hope we can stay there again.
Great service, wonderful rooms, delicious breakfast and the most welcoming staff and friendly atmosphere!
Nice place to stay in a lovely old house. Good for a road trip to the Sani Pass.
Nice drive to SANI pass.
Very nice, friendly people.
We were pampered and enjoyed every moment. Very nice room.
We enjoyed our stay at Mzomdala and privacy that we had sealed our happiness and my young daughter was so sad when we were leaving.
Received very well. Will stay there again.
Value for money, neat, well furnished and just what you expect from a guest house!
Lovely time spent at the Cedar Gardens, very happy with everything.
Very neat and clean. Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms nicely furnished.
Our hostess was very friendly and helpful! However, furniture in our apartment was very old and does not look at all like the pictures on the internet. Would love to have air conditioning in the room. However, everything was very neat, clean and well equipped.
The gardens and surroundings are beautiful and receive good advice on dining outlets from the receptionist. Enjoyed the stay.
Thank you for your hospitality that made our vacation even more special.
Very peaceful, relaxing environment.
Very nice room, good reception and nice breakfast. House has beautiful garden and trees lovely setting!
The condition of the house is dismal. The carpets are dirty. The bottom of the shower is moldy. The breakfast is mediocre and the coffee is undrinkable. Looks like the house has not been maintained for many years. The reception of the owner was great. She was nice. We had to stay 2 nights, but we decided to leave after the first night. We were too uncomfortable! This B&B does not deserve any star.
Simple and just perfect for my needs. Service was fantastic.
I had a great stay and happily recommend Ceder Garden!
Very nice stay, one issue with shower which was resolved. Breakfast delicious.
An ideal home base. Nothing to do at Cedar Gardens itself but ideally situated where one can travel from to see the many attractions in the area. Breakfasts are very good and there are several restaurants in close proximity for dinners. Many venues on day trips where one can enjoy light meals or lunches.
Very professional service, went the extra mile to wait until we arrived.
No TV in the room. The communal lounge/TV room is unpractical since it can't accommodate different viewers. Breakfast was served on time. The guesthouse's manager is a bit in one's face too often about every day's goings-on. The garden is a tranquil paradise. Cedar is close to town and literally within walking distance.
Beautiful big room, very neat and clean. Overlooking a garden with large trees. Delicious breakfast. Management is excellent: Monica, Helga and Toni make you feel at home. I had a great time staying there!
It's a beautiful large house, and I would like to know more about the history of the house. Nice stay. Will definitely come again.
Stunning flower garden. Outstanding accommodation. Hospitality and customer service so so good.
Beautiful house with a wonderful large garden. Room was very comfortable. Hostess very friendly and helpful. Delicious breakfast.
An old world manor house set in a park is the best way to describe this B&B supervised by two elderly ladies that make you feel at home. Spend the evening reclining before a fire in either of two fireplaces while sipping sherry and reading a good book. Original Italian tiles on the bathroom floors look quaint, but is cold on the bare feet. Unfortunately the beds are of the same generation as the house and a fair English breakfast hardly compensates for a poor nights’ sleep. Not good value for money
The accommodation was excellent with good, friendly service.
Well located in delightfull garden setting. Dining facilaties/decor were pleasing and we received good breakfast service.
Lovely big house. Friendly welcome. Nice sitting room with coffee and tea facilities. Breakfast well arranged. We enjoyed it very much.
Beautiful old English house and large garden, luxuriously converted into many guest rooms. Wonderful, friendly service with delicious, stylish breakfast.
Our reception was great, the stay was very nice, peaceful and safe. The breakfast was delicious. Very nice place with garden. We had a wonderful rest.
We had the whole house to ourselves.
There is really no need to expand on the above. We also looked at the two self-catering units and plan to stay there on our next visit to the area.
Friendly staff, excellent garden and food . The place is also within reach of other attractions.
We explored the Sani Pass and it was a very adventure day for us. Cedar Garden is a very good optional to stay at if you're hoping to enjoy hiking and other outdoors activities.
We arrived, we slept, we left. Accommodation was clean and tidy, but I think that at their current price, they could have at least put decent toilet paper in the bathroom.
Very good service from Lekkelaap; I highly recommend you, and will use you again in the future.
Worth every cent. Absolutely amazing gardens and service.
The place is beautiful and quiet and the owners are very friendly and helpful , Thanks a lot.
Will definitely book again.
One of the better and more beautiful places I have stayed overnight.
It's a great, clean place to stay. Loved the bed.
Good value for money. Clean and tidy. Friendly and helpful staff.
The room was beautiful and clean. The garden is breathtaking
We had a wonderful stay, even though we didn't know how far it was to travel to, but now we know. I didn't expect such hospitality ... wow! It was out of his world.nPlease consider installing fans in the rooms, as it was quite hot.nOverall it's a small town with friendly people. I would recommend the establishment to family and friends.nnRegardsnMrs Msibi
We enjoyed our stay at Cedar garden. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable.
Picturesque modern and welcoming.
This was a most enjoyable stay, and staff were very helpful.
This was a great place to be, well located and at a reasonable price, the staff was really great and helpful, very accommodating.I would recommend this place for everyone who wants to be around Underberg and surrounding areas.
We all felt incredibly at home at the end of a long journey from the Transkei. After a very comfortable nights sleep we headed off well rested, up Sani Pass and into Lesotho. Many thanks for the warm hospitality!
Underberg is a good place if you want to discover the Drakensberg. You should not miss Sani Pass and the Reichenau Mission if you are around the area.
Ceder Garden is very clean and neat, however upgrading needs to be done in the kitchen and bathroom. It was extremely cold in the rooms in garden cottage. Electric blankets, underfloor heating or a fireplace or some sort of heat is necessary.
Excellent accommodation and attention from the staff is commendable.
Monica made our stay very homely. She was great with recommendations for places to eat around underberg, which was a great help. She has the most beautiful gardens, and it really made for excellent, authentic berg scenery. The best part of our trip, was up to Sani Pass, where Helga provided us with the most knowledgable tour guide, Stuart. It made the day to have someone know his history so well. Well worth it!
