212 guests' feedbackVery peaceful getaway with plenty in the area to keep you busy.
Our stay was out of another world, the silence and nature was something you only hear about, but never be a part of - until we visited here. shall we go again If we could, we would go there every month.
It was our second time at Cederkloof and was once again delicious.
Very good, even better than in the photos.
Perfect for a get away weekend, so peaceful. Our dogs really enjoyed it too.
Cederkloof definitely lives up to what is advertised. I have not been to any other place so quiet, private, and peaceful. The sweet-smelling air, the singing birds, and the privacy make for an idyllic retreat with a partner.
Stay was really great. Would definitely come back again.
We enjoyed the natural environment, birdsong and the beautiful views of the surrounding mountains - a real retreat into nature.
Was very nice, place is nice clean and tidy.
We really enjoyed spending the weekend there. The jacuzzi worked and was turned on for us before we arrived. There is aircon in the units and it saved us, because it can get very hot in that area.
I expected the jacuzzi to get hot as it says, but it was just cold for the afternoons.
This place has an amazing concept and with the jacuzzi makes this place ideal for a lovely relaxation stay. Unfortunately for us, we found a mouse in cottage 1, alerted Alex, he didn't seem too concerned. He searched for the mouse briefly, to no avail. I think this made us rather uncomfortable throughout the stay. I wish we could have been moved to maybe a different cottage if there was one available. On our first night the heating system was not working at all and on the second day, Alex seemed to have just cleaned the dust off the filters, which I think should have been done prior and the heating system checked before we checked in. We had a faulty wine opener, no wine glasses to use and the general cleanliness of the place was poor, including the bathrooms. I understand the rustic look is what you are going for but I feel just basic cleanliness is necessary. Lastly, I think at least 1 bag of firewood needs to be included on day one then additional to be charged. Unfortunately, we stayed over when the temperatures were extremely low and needed at least 2 bags of firewood on the first night. Luckily I had ordered prior, otherwise we would have been extremely cold. Also, please recommend the use of SUV/4X4 cars for the area.
We had a lovely stay at Cederkloof. When we arrived, the jacuzzi was ice cold, but we managed to get hold of the manager and he adjusted the temperature for us to warm up the jacuzzi. The cottage was also not ready at 14:00 for check-in due to a late check-out by the previous guests, but we were not informed about this beforehand. The place is very clean, it is perfect for a couple and has all the goodies you need for a short stay. The nature is beautiful and it is pet friendly, which we enjoyed with our little Yorkie. There are a lot of mosquitoes. We got quite bitten and we had no repellant. Please take your Peaceful Sleep spray with you. The emails to the bookings email take a while to respond, but eventually, they do respond. We enjoyed the jacuzzi and braais on the stoep. We had a lovely anniversary celebration despite all the mosquito bites LOL. The WiFi only worked on the first day. The second day we had no WiFi.
It was very peaceful.
The cottage was not as clean as I would have liked; there were no wine glasses, the wine opener did not work, the water pressure in the shower was not good, and there was a mouse in the cottage.
We were extremely disappointed with Cederkloof Botanical Retreat. We were 10 people on a cycling trip. We arrived to find construction work taking place, no lights working, no management to assist on site, power off due to damaged cables, eventually sorted after many phone calls. Still a temporary unsafe connection left. Rooms were dark and dingy, two of the five rooms were interleading without en suite so the occupants of one had to wake the occupants of the other if they wanted to access the bathroom! My room at the back of the house was dark and damp, with only one measly light, no bedside lights, bathroom flooded when it rained, access door jammed so we had to access the house via another bedroom. The outside couches on the verandah were wet and falling apart. Generally, the house is in a state of disrepair and not what you see on the website.
We will come again for sure.
It was very nice and well appointed. Just a suggestion is that one is informed in advance of which unit is yours. We struggled to know where to check in and the signal is bad until you can turn on the WiFi to contact the right person.
Great location, cottages spread out nicely, lots of privacy. Enjoyed the Jacuzzi and indoor fireplace. Birdlife is impressive and a wonderful place for dogs. They had a ball, as did we.
Our accommodation had everything we needed. It was easy to access and seamless check-in. We enjoyed the privacy. The beautiful scenery and Jacuzzi were amazing during the cold season.
This is the perfect getaway spot, definitely would describe it as a hidden gem. You've got everything you need, right at your doorstep.
Everything was perfect, peaceful environment in nature.
The braai area and jacuzzi were immaculate upon arrival and all our pre-booked ice and firewood were in place.
The environment is beautiful. The bungalows have style and are nicely located. The jacuzzi after a hike is lovely.
Our little house was very cute, neat and nicely furnished. In the morning and in the afternoon we could enjoy the delicious scent of orange blossoms while relaxing in the jacuzzi. Our fox terrier loved the place just as much, especially when we ventured out on the hiking trails. We plan to visit there again soon.
The area is beautiful and the walking paths are well maintained. The jacuzzi is always a winner, but could do with a privacy screen.
I would just prefer that the barbecue grill and the pot that was outside be cleaned. I would also suggest making the hot tub more private. The spot next to the parking faces right onto the stoep, so maybe put a gate/door on it.
Ideal place for the nature lover. Secluded, very peaceful and private. Walking routes from your cottage. Only 10 km from Citrusdal.
What a beautiful and incredible setting. The accommodation is beautifully decorated and comfortable. The cottage needs renovation in certain areas and the grounds around the cottage could be cleaned up. Had a wonderful rest and visit. Thank you very much.
The cottage's furniture needs attention. There was also no braai wood and ice upon arrival. Owner did not communicate with us in any way. However, Alexander was there and could inform us to buy wood and ice.
Cederkloof was a really lovely few days for us in the mountains among citrus groves. Completely removed from the everyday hustle and bustle. Great variety of bird life to see too. Close enough to make day trips from there to the Stadsaal caves and to be able to buy all kinds of food at the paddocks. The cottages are well furnished, each with its own hot tub. We would like to acknowledge Alexander the manager. He really cares about his guests and is always friendly!
We got married the Saturday and left for the retreat Sunday afternoon for a quick honeymoon getaway. We travelled from Cape Town and got to the retreat just after 21:00. There is no mobile signal on the retreat and it was also load shedding when we got there. As the booking page does not specify which unit our stay was in, we figured we'd pull up to reception and find out. It was already dark so visibility was poor. I pulled up to reception and knocked on the door with no response. The manager on duty's phone number was on the door but as mentioned there was no mobile signal at the retreat. After exhausting all options I decided to hoot to get someone's attention. We were really just trying to get to our unit. The owner comes out of the house basically yelling at me as I tried to explain to her that I knocked, there was no signal, visibility is poor, and the website did not specify which unit to go to (and even if it did, I still wouldn't have found the unit as visibility was poor). I asked her politely to calm down because we just trying to get to our place. The disrespect towards me was unreal. I've booked on the website many times before, and not once was I disrespected in this manner. She rudely told me that her kids are sleeping and there are other guests. We were also guests and we just got there and that was the welcome we received. The manager then showed up and she rudely told the manager, "Alexander speak to these people!" as if we were trash. So now hear me out, it is not in my nature to be hooting in front of people's places, that was honestly the last resort. You are in the hospitality industry and your booking in times are from 14:00 to 122:00. We got there before 22:00, so we expected to be assisted upon arrival. The rudeness and disrespect from this owner was unreal. The manager then escorted us to our unit. The manager was very friendly. Everything about this place was absolutely amazing, we enjoyed our honeymoon. So my advice, before you hit the gravel road to the retreat there's a phone number on the board. Call and ask to speak to Alexander (the manager). Do this before you turn right into the retreat, as mentioned there's no signal. Have Alexander await you upon arrival so that you avoid interaction with the extremely rude owner at all cost. She should be ashamed of herself. Small-town mentality looking down on other people. Ms owner, I really hope you read this review, your attitude stinks and you have no way to speak to people.
See stars.
My stay was cut short sadly, but a good spot.
I saw the manager who saw us on a few occasions, never even greeted us, nobody did, except the cleaning lady going to the other units. I know there was a wedding on Easter weekend and they were busy but a hello and welcome would have been acceptable. We sent Thomas a WhatsApp to ask if large dogs were allowed in the pool, but did not get an answer. There was a gent, his 2 daughters and this large retriever who all jumped in the pool and it was not pleasant, the dog would come to you and the hair was in the pool and lots of splashing, it happened one day.
The location is amazing and the views are just what we wanted. Unfortunately, small things were noticed to have changed from our previous stay and this is down to the change of ownership. Upon arrival, there was no wood to braai as promised when booking, this is no longer part of the booking agreement but we were never informed. We had to ask for items like glasses that were not available. The braai grid was filthy having not been cleaned, areas of the house had been superficially cleaned but were still not 100%. The jacuzzi was ok but took a very long time to heat and had a leak that caused it to lose water all the time. We had a lovely time but felt disappointed by these little issues that are not expected due to the high pricing of the house. We hope that the new ownership will look into the above and improve. We have been to the retreat multiple times and have always been extremely happy and have never had the above issues.
It's a very nice area, but it wasn't very clean. The aircon wouldn't cool and when my husband took out the filters, it was nothing less than horribly dirty. We had to wash all the pots again before we could use them. The bed has not been moved and cleaned recently either. Gas bottle was empty and the two bags of wood they say will be available were not there either. When I called to find out, they told me it was R50 a bag of wood. At least Jacuzzi was clean and in working condition.
Beautiful area. Peaceful. Great hike and fynbos. Lots of birds. Lots of mosquitoes in house. Light bulb missing in room. Slight sewerage smell occassionally. Floor not clean along skirting board. Fairly expensive for self catering.
We were a big group and all wanted to stay together. That's why we booked the homestead. During this period there was permanent movement of staff checking in and out to collect or put away goods. This in and out of our place of residence was without warning or reservation. During roasting times, staff walk through our conversation to get to where they need to be. This was not passed on to us at all and caused a lot of discomfort. If we had known this was going to be the case we would never have discussed it. When you go on a web break you expect privacy and tranquility. The indications were also poor. There were more than 6/7 guests staying at other cottages on site who thought the Homestead was the reception. So they knocked on our doors or just walked in to check in or to buy ice and wood. We who are also there for a break then had to explain to them how to proceed. The Homestead is a unique unit and offers a lot but its management is a big question mark. This caused us to be uncomfortable and unable to relax as we expected. It also made you feel unsafe at times because there are people in and out all the time that you have no idea about.
These mountains are magical. The views amazing, with beautiful hikes. Our 2 days there made us forget the rest of the world exists.
We had a wonderful stay in the Cederkloof and the unit's space was really spacious. Well appointed and comfortable. Short walk was beautiful and relaxing.
It was so peaceful. Fresh air. You just feel at ease, at home and centered.
Just what we needed to relax and recharge.
Your soul rests wonderfully and service from staff friendly.
We had a blissful and relaxing stay, disconnected from the world. We were upgraded to the 'honeymoon cottage' due to a double booking. Please upgrade the honeymoon cottage. It is decidedly unromantic in its layout! Allowing pets in a 'botanical retreat' is questionable, as one expects pristine nature. Ditto the cat/dog hair on the blankets? I would also lose the TV. The cottages are perfectly equipped with everything needed for a comfortable visit. Just enjoy the silence.
It was a wonderful, quiet, peaceful weekend getaway. The freshly ground filter coffee in the morning was a lovely surprise. Would definitely recommend!
We also stayed here last year. Especially the privateness of the units and Jacuzzi is a bonus.
We stayed at cottage number 10, beds were warm and good quality bedding, air conditioning in each bedroom if needed, no indoor fireplace in this cottage but we were not cold. Fresh coffee beans and grinder for early morning coffee watching the birds as we sat on the stoop, even had 2 woodpeckers on a tree close by. Nice 7 km hike up around the mountains and shorter walks to do also. We will come back and maybe try the hot tub next time. We could not find a corkscrew to open wine but we always travel prepared so it was not a problem for us, a few more wine glasses would help there were only 3 white wine glasses and one was cracked. Flowers in the rooms a nice touch, building renovations going on did not disturb us at all, these things have to be done and I think it will be worth a second visit when complete. The hot tub was ready to use even though we did not ask for it to be, Freddy was as helpful as he could be telling us about the hikes although a map would be a plus in the time to come. Very quiet, peaceful place and lots of night stars.
The cottages are very well equipped. We had a lovely time there. And it was nice to take our dog child with us.
Is a peaceful environment where one can rest well in the beautiful surroundings. The walking route was good exercise with a very nice view. The trail signs at the beginning might just need a little paint, but with all the stone beacons we found the way very well. I also just think it might be nice to maybe meet someone who works there. It was very fine with us to move directly to the house and go out again, but sometimes you just look for that point of contact with the people you rent a place from. But otherwise our stay was very nice and the rest was good. Thank you very much.
Had a great time. Every year my husband and I look for a hideaway for our anniversary, and this one did it for us. Nice and quiet. Nice porch and look out at the beautiful nature on the front porch.
Cute houses with outdoor barbecue and jacuzzi in nature with beautiful birdlife and vegetation. Enough privacy. Not too far from town. I won't eat off the floor, but neat and acceptably clean. We will visit again!
We had a wonderful time, beautiful setting and good value for money.
If you need some quiet breathing time, Cederkloof Botanical Retreat is just the place!
Great romantic getaway. Gorgeous. Enjoyed the hiking and jacuzzi.
Beautiful, tranquil stay with spectacular views and a nice hiking trail. Perfect place to relax from the busy world.
Apparently due to new owners everything still needs to be updated. An information brochure about the area and walking routes would help a lot.
Very nice and comfortable facilities in a peaceful environment and very beautiful scenery.
There is a nice walking trail, but unfortunately at the end the place is littered with debris and glass. With a little effort, they can clean it up and make it much more pleasant for a person!
The cottage is the perfect size for a couple to relax and enjoy a weekend in nature. The stars were incredible - and even better when viewed from the jacuzzi. There are a few hiking trails that are well marked and a great activity for any skill level. There might be an event venue because we could hear music and partying on Friday night, but that was over by 23:00 and the rest of our stay was quiet and relaxing - great for reading and spending quality time together.
Air conditioning saved us during heat wave!
As mentioned, our experience was generally pleasant, but I would like to make a few suggestions. Booking: The booking/photos are misleading as I thought I had booked a certain unit but was given a different unit a few days before the booking. I was very unhappy because I wanted a unit other than No. 9 because personal reasons (have stayed in the unit before). It would be nice like at other places where you book a certain unit (with certain views, not staying in the same unit every time, etc.). Also, I received quite a bit of information in the time before our dates of stay (which unit was booked for you, where to get key and wood, directions, etc. but as other places do). Wood: It would be very nice if there were already one or two bags of wood available at the unit upon arrival (if you arrive late in the dark we don't want to go looking for a worker at the tents). The wood is also very expensive when compared to other similar places. Bathrooms at the pool: It would be nice if the bathrooms at the pool were unlocked. Jacuzzi: It would be nice to be able to set the jacuzzi's temperature, it gets too hot if it stays on for the bubbles. Other: Grill and wine opener were broken.
What a beautiful location and the cottage had absolutely everything. The jacuzzi on the deck is an absolute winner. We will be going back for sure, 100%. One improvement Cederkloof should make immediately it to map and time the walks in the kloof and create a handout for the guests. I was quite surprised and disappointed that there was no information available at all.
See stars.
The unit is not fully equipped for "Self Catering". The bathroom was under water the whole time because there is a water leak under the floor.
Photos on website beautiful. Cottages disappointing, neglected and old. Could be very nice if better maintained. Location: Citrusdal orange farm. Very pretty. Jacuzzi nice and clean. Friendly welcome by Freddie.
Some cockroaches and had a fly problem, had to purchase my own insect killer. My cottage jacuzzi was not as private as I would have liked. One shower drain was a little blocked. Front door did not close flush. No one at reception to welcome or take to flat or advise how things worked. No one at reception the whole weekend. Jacuzzi was too hot to use first night.
Very neat, clean facilities in a safe environment. We were lucky to be able to take our puppy with us, thank you. Will definitely return for a quiet weekend.
See stars.
Quiet, great hiking trails, has everything you need!
Brilliant and value for money.
It's peaceful and private, nature is beautiful. The cottage was spacious, high ceilings, bed and bedding were of high quality. The fact that there is no signal is a plus. They made up the sofa bed for my kids, which was really nice. Hot tub was on when we got there, what a treat. We will be back for sure. One of my favorite places I've ever stayed. 4 small suggestions: we didn't see any scissors or hair dryer in the cottage. Maybe there could also be swimming towels for the hot tub and a bath mat, because the floors can be slippery with jumping in and out of the Jacuzzi.
Cederkloof is the perfect getaway if you want to get away from the noise. You can keep yourself busy with hiking trails on the premises or you can just sit on the porch and bird watch. The jacuzzi is ready when you get there, and you can start relaxing right away. There is no signal at the cottages, so you can switch off properly. And if you really need to contact the outside world there is WiFi at reception. Many thanks to Anja, Yvette and the team! We will definitely be back!
The Jacuzzi is an added bonus. The environment lets you relax with the birds that wake you up early in the morning with their singing. Will definitely stay here again.
Everything perfect, location, nature, wildlife, Jacuzzi. Can't find any error.
Definitely want to go again, and just enjoy surroundings.
Perfect little getaway. Has everything you need and more! Fully equipped kitchen and the coffee provided was delicious.
Wonderful silence between mountains and trees. Chirping of birds and the most beautiful starry sky from the Jacuzzi with barbecue fire. Our 2 toypoms also enjoyed the break.
Beautiful destination, clean living space, everything you need. Friendly environment. Just everything and more!
We were pleasantly surprised by the resort. Picturesque nature with incredible natural gardens and starry night. The house was beautifully clean and all creature comforts were available. Also the first place we got decent wine and soda glasses. Complimentary coffee beans and rooibos tea are provided in the house. The jacuzzi on the veranda is lovely. The service and hospitality are noteworthy. It was lovely to be able to take our dog with us where it was so welcome. The reception room with swimming pool is picture-perfect for a medium-sized function. You can walk for hours, we also walked between the citrus groves. We will go back for sure.
Best destination to spend quality time with your other half.

Lots of birds in the area, beautiful fynbos surroundings around the houses. Just had a lot of flies in our little house which was annoying. Would love to visit again!
Lovely place in nature.
Absolutely a fantastic place to break away. The scenery and accommodation is practical.
We arrived and the key was already in the door of the chalet. The jacuzzi was ready and awaiting for us to use. Clean and tidy and has everything one needs to enjoy your relaxing stay. Lovely walks and paths are easy to follow. Strongly recommended!
There was some confusion about the costs of the Jacuzzi. So ended up not paying extra for the use of Jacuzzi. We really liked the ethos of Cederkloof, but couldn't support the recycling projects - only one rubbish bin and didn't want to leave recycling lying around outside.
A beautiful place in a beautiful location. We really enjoyed the hikes, the well taken care of gardens, the birds! And inside, the chalets are well-designed and practical with everything one could need, including a fireplace. We brought our 5-year-old and our dog, and everything was set up for us. The Jacuzzi was a big treat. And Anja was a great host. We will definitely be back.
Nice quiet environment. Place well equipped and bed with good mattress. Jacuzzi a bonus.
See stars.
The unit is very well equipped and the fireplace and jacuzzi are an extra bonus. Layout is good and walking route is good. The focus is on nature and the abundance of fynbos in particular.
We enjoyed the hikes and quietness of the place. Was a nice relaxing experience.
Wonderful setting in a beautiful gorge with natural vegetation around you and lots of birds, we had a great stay and will return. However, Unit 8 needs some attention.
Loved the tea and coffee gift.
Situated in a very special environment.
Great location with beautiful views of the mountains and surrounding areas. The house was well equipped with everything you could possibly need including coffee beans and french press! The hot tub is an absolute delight in the cold weather. There are a few hiking trails and viewpoints to enjoy on a nice sunny day. Overall, a pleasant and tranquil getaway location. Will certainly be visiting again.
The staff was great. Most beautiful view.
The cottage itself was neat and tidy and shows you that you don't need a lot of space. The tranquillity and silence were amazing, just you and nature. Perfect for couples, family and 4 legged friends.
However a little TLC is required in order to fully provide the accommodation expected. Examples are outside light hanging by its wire, badly warped metal grate in inside fireplace. The previous guests had broken the bottom bottle shelf in the fridge and as we were 4 adults and 2 infants, we really needed something a little bigger. I called Anya and she arranged rapid delivery of a replacement fridge within a couple of hours. Very impressive service!
The only snag is the erratic hot tub. Faulty thermo, but we managed and this was by far the highlight.
We stayed in Cottage 2 and the shower walls were so messy and dirty. The bathroom's walls at the bottom need some paint/tiles because they are also dirty. I know it's a rural area but the flies were so overwhelming. No doom or insecticide available. The cleaners forgot about us, so we had to fetch clean towels and toilet paper from the office ourselves. No WiFi available in the cottage, so anything you need you have to drive to the office as there is no signal either.
House is very nicely located, nice view with nature and fynbos. Nice hiking trails and the Jacuzzi a must!
Cederkloof is value for money. Had no problems and had a wonderful stay. The Jacuzzi is a winner!
Excellent accommodation, beautiful setting. Best part was no cell phone coverage to disturb the tranquility of the surroundings.
It was great. I would recommend it to other people
The spot was beautiful and clean, with lovely extras like coffee beans and firelighters. The location is divine and to be able to relax in the jacuzzi, take a walk on the trails, and hang out around the braai. We had a lovely time!
Place to get away, put the phone down and relax.
Love the privacy of each house, fully equipped, very modern.
It was wonderfully quiet and the Jacuzzi was nice to have.
Summer is very hot. Would choose winter as a better time to visit.
If you like to spend time outdoors and love fynbos, then this is the place to go to. There are beautiful hiking trails and a labyrinth. The jacuzzi on your doorstep, is relaxing and refreshing. The units are well equipped. It is near enough to go to town if you need something, yet far enough to enjoy the peace and quiet.
Excellent tourist stopover - will definitely visit again. Private and very secluded. Ideal as a stay over into the Cederberg Mountains. Will definitely visit again.
The first evening we did not have a working jacuzzi, the facilities didn’t have wine glasses (probably because of the jacuzzi and people breaking it? Perhaps plastic?) and the wood was wet so had to make alternative plans for food. I appreciate that Eskom told them that power will be out until 6pm, due to repairs to the power station - also just a little strange that exactly the same excuse was used last time we visited. The facilities are getting a bit run down and dirty looking. Door handles are grubby, top of the fridge is sticky-dusty so are the window sills. The bed is clean and comfortable. That’s probably what counts. The dishes were not dried off, plates still had water in them and were put away wet. The toilet kept on running as it’s leaking and is rather noisy when trying to sleep. The valve doesn’t turn off even if you turn the tap closed. The place is perfectly functional but it’s not what it used to be. The garden has grown beautifully and I wish the rooms reflected the same magnificence as the garden of late. Perhaps some care would do the trick.
The cleanliness of the unit can be improved. Daily servicing of the unit does not take place as advertised (one needs to request in advance if required) the administration that goes with the request is not simple and easy, as there is no phone signal at the unit. Braai grids were not clean on arrival.
Neat, except there is still a smell of the fireplace inside the house. We couldn't sleep well the first night. Hopefully you pay attention to it.
Although everyone's needs and expectations are different, but this was the perfect place for us. We enjoy the outdoors, nature and peace and quite and this place has it all. As a specialist on Cape botany, I can only congratulate you on your indigenous garden and replanting of cedars, well done. The attention to detail in the cottage needs to be mentioned. Where in a self-catering establishment will you get coffee beans, a grinder and a plunger! We will certainly be back for a longer stay, one night on the way back from a flower trip was far too short.
Ongelooflike omgewing en huisies verleen hulself om die natuur ten volle te geniet!
Stunning gardens surrounded by spectacular vistas. What feast for the soul.
A really beautiful place to stay. The cottages are very well equipped and little extras like a bag of wood and firelighters make the difference. Very friendly owners who sell a nice assortment of herbal teas and medicines.
Very beautiful and nice. Just don't make fire inside the house. Our eyes were burning so we had to open all the windows and door.
The stay was everything we hoped for. We had a nice walk, relaxed in the Jacuzzis, and enjoyed the houses and nature. It's great that our four-legged children could go together. We would love to come again.
Very nice break away. The Jacuzzi is a huge bonus.
We were in the Honeymoon Cottage and were very satisfied with the house and facilities. Would definitely visit again!
Beautiful and romantic!
If you are looking for absolute peace and quiet, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, then Cederkloof Botanical Retreat is just the place for you. It is nice and quiet and private and everything you need is in your chalet. All you have to do is show up and the rest is relaxation, relaxation and relaxation. Nature and the stars are your neighbors and you can't ask for more. We will definitely be out here regularly.
It was wonderful to relax in this beautiful environment. You don't need anything more than this!
What a magical place to stay. Everything was perfect, from the friendly, informative hosts to the beautiful cottages and amazing view. What a pleasure to stay at this beautiful establishment. The Jacuzzi was just perfect after long and difficult mountain biking rides. The cottage was very well equipped, perfectly clean and had everything we needed. Loved the very eco-friendly theme of the place and the natural gardens are just stunning. The added bonus of braai wood on arrival was a very thoughtful gesture. I can't wait to return!
We really enjoyed our stay and the location is great - close to Cape Town but it feels a million miles away once you are there. We will definitely go again. Some more information in the house about where the hiking trail is, some restaurants in the area, or other things to do in the area will be very useful.
Was an unbelievable stay and good for the soul.
Will definitely go again. Well-equipped, private, beautiful location.
One is sometimes disappointed when the reality does not live up to the advertising photos, but not this time. We were lucky enough to get cottage no. 4 (the honeymoon cottage) booked, and paid a bit more for it than the others, but it was worth every penny. Everything was beautifully clean, with welcoming wildflowers and soaps in pretty containers. The Jacuzzi was already running and the view from there over your neat fynbos garden and mountains made us feel like kings. Large glass door at the front and windows that reach up to the roof at the back in the bathroom give you an unobstructed view all around. Effort has clearly been made here to make sure you experience your surroundings inside as well. And in absolute privacy. Well done to the new owners. You guys have a winning recipe there.
Where to start. The place is amazing! The spa bath is nice and warm, and as my wife says, 'nice to lie in the spa while the husband is braai-ing.' The bed is comfortable and large and the accommodation has whatever you need for a weekend away. Looking forward to our next visit.
A beautiful, well maintained resort. Lovely for a 2-day retreat. I can see huge potential for a small, private family wedding or birthday celebration.
Stayed in cottage 2, at the far end. Ideal if you just want peace and quiet around you. Lots of birds, beautiful nature! Road directions/address were just not clear.
Wonderful, quiet place to just relax and unwind.
The place is ideal for a break in clean nature.
Cederkloof Botanical Retreat was truly an experience! We were a group of 5 people, two of whom were Germans. Everyone enjoyed the scenery and tranquility. The accommodation was very well equipped and nothing came short. The biggest bonus was the beautiful starry sky that appeared before us in the evenings, it was awesome! And also the rock paintings were really special. The owner himself loves nature and has accompanied us to the drawings on the farm. There are also darling dogs who are very calm but loving. We will definitely come back again!
A resting place in nature. Hot tub helps for the hot days! Nice hiking trails (maybe just check markers on trail, got a bit lost, but was great adventure).
Lovely house among the mountains. The walking route is beautiful, facilities more than enough and you could rest nicely without being bothered. We'll definitely come back again!
Very peaceful atmosphere. The ideal place to rest from the hustle and bustle of the city. Haven't seen such bright stars in a long time. Incredibly beautiful.
We really enjoyed the tranquillity of nature. We both walked / climbed the trails. Our house was private. Kitchen is well equipped. Our previous visit was in 2001 and we were pleasantly surprised by the vegetation that was put in place.
Stunning location. Inside needs a bit of paint and new cupboards. The rest is perfect. Will go back.
Most beautiful and peaceful setting. A work in progress where Yvette and her team deserve the highest praise for what they are achieving. Some tuning to the details, furniture, fittings and appliances will make this site the most desirable stay in the Cederberg. We will be back for sure.
The location is excellent, environment very nice, great Jacuzzi, it's special to braai here.
Nice view, but the unit needs attention and love (paint, front door handle coming loose, air conditioning dripping rust water on the bed, shower door keeps coming off) very old furniture - the beds and bedding are top quality. Unfortunately, the Jacuzzi is in the sun all day.
Super tranquil place, but I feel like the house could've been cleaner and the Jacuzzi could've been part of the original price.
Cute little place away from everything and everyone. Quiet without catchment.
Wonderful service! Hospitality. Value for money! Greatest amenities and a fine focus on detail that make the place outstanding.
Such an amazing getaway and experience. The cottages provides all you need and more, location is amazing. Beautiful hiking trails, access to the pool, and relaxing in the Jacuzzi are among the great activities available. I really enjoyed lounging on the pouffes on the porch, and taking in the beautiful surrounds. The story and projects of the farm also add to the experience. Really hope to come back to possibly experience in winter!
A beautiful place. Accommodation and surroundings are five star. Thank you for the beautiful work you do in and for nature.
Very nice houses, everything you need, excellent location, see you again.
Those views. The Jacuzzi which is private. Feelings singing in the morning. Restful.
We booked Cederkloof as part of our honeymoon and thoroughly enjoyed it. The cottages are well equipped. We stayed in cottage 2, it was quiet and private. It's wonderful to sit in the jaccuzzi with the braai fire burning next to you, while you admire the sunset. We would recommend this place to everyone.
It was very comfortable and quiet. The Jacuzzi is a winner.
Beautiful location for nature lovers. Neat, spacious unit with everything you need for a self-catering place. One day is too little.
We had a great time, slept great, barbecued great and the silence was heavenly. Friendly and helpful service and the complimentary oranges were delicious!
The Jacuzzi on the patio is a winner. We will be seeing you again.
Lovely setting, peaceful and quiet. Owner and staff very friendly and helpful. Will stay again when in that area.
It was a great one night getaway and we hope to go again! The birds and view are lovely! So beautiful and very cozy at the fireplace in the kitchen!
It had been a wonderful weekend for us.
Every moment was amazing!
The houses are very neat and well equipped. The environment is very beautiful and very peaceful. Really a place to go switch off and rest. Will definitely go again!
Was just perfect all that I need to relax.
It was good for me.
What an amazing place! There is nothing better than experiencing the sunset from a Jacuzzi with a glass of wine in hand and a fire burning next to you. I would recommend it to anyone who just wants to rest and spend quality time with nature and loved ones.
It is a little piece of paradise in the mountains.
Very nice place. Quiet and peaceful, away from your busy life. Will definitely go again!
Very nice stay. Units well equipped and very nice location. The chlorine level may be just a little high in the Jacuzzis.
Was definitely worth the money. We really enjoyed ourselves and will definitely visit again. Thank you to Cederkloof workers and management for their kindness and for making us feel at home.
We had an absolute great time at Cederkloof. The accommodation was beautiful and clean. The bathrooms are so beautiful and opening the windows for a full view baths are a must do. Anja is very friendly and very helpful.
We will definitely visit again and for a longer period. Everything was perfect - the accommodation was clean, neat, comfortable. Bedding was to die for! Facilities in the house is short of nothing and the get together in the evening - first at the Jacuzzi en then at the fire and the on the porch to relax. The early morning quietness and view is healing for the soul.
Perfect place to break away from the city, would definitely go again.
Our house was very beautiful! We also enjoyed the silence and beauty of nature.
See stars.
Lovely place and service.
We really enjoyed it. The fact that I didn't have catch-up I was able to switch off completely and just rest.
House no. 1 neat and well equipped. However, it needs some maintenance, our Jacuzzi's lid was full of cracks, the front door latch would not always open and some of the "grout" between the tiles had come loose. Otherwise we had a great stay, especially enjoyed the fireplace on a very cold evening. Also enjoyed watching the birds.
We had a great time at Cederkloof! The location is beautiful with all the citrus trees. We also had a great time walking on the one hiking trail. All negative comments I have is that the place smelled a bit like fire smoke because of the fireplace in the cottage. But that being said, I am very sensitive to smoke smells. Furthermore, we really enjoyed it!
This is exactly what we were looking for for a getaway.
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would love to return some day. Our pets love running about in the mountains, there are many ticks so I suggest making sure your pets are protected. The views are lovely the facilities are adequate and comfortable. A lovely little home away from home experience.
Beautiful scenery. Relaxed wonderfully.
Reception was excellent, chalet well furnished with a relaxed atmosphere. Definitely making an annual thing if this!
It was a lovely break. I was impressed with the extra effort like the two bags of wood, flash and coffee beans.
The house's layout is good and it gives a sense of space. The surroundings are absolutely beautiful and a lot of effort is put into getting native plants established everywhere on the site. A real loop court in nature. Good linen and mattress. Well-equipped kitchen and nice patio. Nice coffee beans with grinder and 'plunger', a real unexpected bonus! The care (cleanliness) of the tiled floors could receive a little more attention. Very pleasant, helpful and friendly reception.
Had a lovely stay! Everything you need is there. Beautiful place, can really recommend it.
They didn't give us the full set of info about each aspect of the unit. Only got that upon enquiry, in the process wasting a lot of electricity on the first night. Special tongs for the coals would be helpful in stead of having to use the meat tong, but apart from that the braai facilities were good.
What a wonderful experience, thank you!
Lovely stay in a spacious and well-equipped house.
Cederkloof is wonderfully located - neatly tucked away on the hills of Citrusdal. We stayed in unit 6 and upon arrival around 7 pm, the key was left in the door as promised. The unit smelt strongly of fire which was a bit overwhelming. Overall the unit was well equipped with all that is needed for self-catering. A big disappointment was discovering that our Jacuzzi would not switch on, in spite of wall plug being on. We contacted Yvette and she showed up at our unit within 5 minutes (she lives on site at unit 10). This was great and we were quickly told that the guests who had stayed over the night before must have switched off the Jacuzzi on the Jacuzzi's power box as opposed to the wall plug as instructed. We were delighted and looked forward to a night under the stars in the Jacuzzi. This too, was not to be. Next disappointment was the Jacuzzi subsequently not heating up. It remained on for more than 2 hrs and remained cold. We alerted Yvette who promised that someone would come out in the morning. The Jacuzzi debacle continued on until 5 pm the following day, meaning we had essentially lost a night and a full day of use of the Jacuzzi (which may I add, was the primary reason we had chosen Cederkloof). Nevertheless, following the efforts of 3 maintenance guys, the Jacuzzi was fixed around sunset, and we tried to make the most of the time we had left. Hats off to Yvette who expressed her sincerest apologies and made great strides to make up for the time we had lost. Our experience quickly turned around and Yvette was more than willing to grant us additional time on the Sunday which we made full use of. Cleanliness of the bathroom was the only real negative I walk away with. The shower was in dire need of a scrub - grime and mould was very visible, tiles along the bath and walls were dirty, wash basin too needed a good scrub, and the floors were in need of a good sweep and mop. Minor changes and improvements on cleanliness will undoubtedly allow for an even better stay! (Lastly, though promised, cleaning services on the Saturday morning did not in fact pitch). In spite of it all, I would definitely return. Positive and fair feedback can only lead to future enhancements and advancements.
The facilities were clean, impressive and inviting. The service was awesome. The area itself, was secluded, private, amongst nature, exactly the break away needed from the hustle and bustle of city life. Would definitely recommend anyone looking for a break away from the city, to use Cederkloof Botanical Retreat.
We really enjoyed our stay in cottage no. 2. The cottage was on point and it's perfect for privacy and it's fully furnished with everything you'll need. We really enjoyed our stay. If there is one thing we would like to change, it is the fact that there is no outside light on the outside wall where the braai area is. But that's literally all we would like to change.
Beautiful and fully equipped cottages in the mountains, beautiful hiking trails, silence and clear skies with 1000th stars, private jacuzzi on your porch a big plus, safe and peaceful. Good communication with Yvette. Jana is a great advertisement of "ask me anything and I'll make it happen for you!". Will definitely go back. Over and over worth the money!
What could be better than laying in a Jacuzzi on the patio, drinking bubbly, with no noise from other people, vehicles or cell phones ringing, while enjoying the view of the veld and mountains. Definitely the best place to relax and forget about the rest of the world.
We enjoyed it very much. Would love to visit this place again.
Cederkloof Botanical Retreat was definitely one of the best choices in accommodation we have ever made! The cottages are perfect and have everything you will need for a time away. If you are looking for somewhere to recharge your batteries in nature, this is definitely the place for you! My husband and I would go back again anytime! Many thanks also to the staff who put a lot of effort into a special gift for our birthdays.
Indescribably beautiful nature. Unit neat and tidy and clean. Own Jacuzzi a bonus. Beautiful and peaceful, will definitely visit again.
We absolutely loved staying here. The bird life, the walks, the views, the quiet, the Jacuzzi, it was all lovely. Very peaceful. We didn't want to go home.
I was in Citrusdal for work and had the delicious rest for the soul at Cerderkloof Botanical Retreat. The cottage is fantastic with everything and more that one would need for a getaway. I'm definitely going to try to book in advance 1 time every month or 2 to treat myself. I believe anyone who comes to stay here will feel at home and not want to return after the break.
Sublime for couples and families with kids.
Native plants, lots of birds and the Jacuzzi were the highlights.
Piece of paradise. Stress-relief retreat. Definitely recommend for anyone who needs to getaway from the rush of daily life.
In nature is a small house with everything one would need. Lovely big bath in the house, big fireplace and spacious kitchen, but best of all is the Jacuzzi outside next to the barbecue.
What a beautiful location. The night we stayed there was a beautiful storm but it was lovely and cozy inside with the fireplace. Everything you need is provided - even delicious coffee beans provided with a grinder to make a fresh cup of coffee! We will definitely be back!
As a family, we really enjoyed being outdoors. Being able to bring your pet was a bonus. Quiet atmosphere and clean and tidy facilities. We will definitely book here again.
Just the place to switch off and recharge. Nature calms you down and is beautiful.
The place I booked was given to someone else and we were given a cheaper place. Initially, I was very disappointed. To make up for the cheaper house they gave free access to the Jacuzzi. The Jacuzzi just needs a fix, as it does not heat up at the moment.
Enjoyed a lot, especially the natural beauty and the cleanliness of the cottage and surroundings.
We really enjoyed our stay. The location and view were perfect and we enjoyed having a braai in the evenings next to the Jacuzzi. Some face towels and hooks to hang towels would have been useful, but other than that we really enjoyed our stay.
Gorgeous little cottage with everything that we needed (for a self-catering unit.) Massive bed with fresh, crisp linen. Lovely hike - (but could be signposted just a little better.) Hope I get to visit again!
Very nice place with a lovely fireplace.
We had a nice stay although the daily work in the gardens took away a bit of our privacy. Beautiful new establishment.
Fantastic atmosphere, lovely Jacuzzi, wood for your braai. Maybe consider better lighting so visitors can read.
