From the moment we arrived at Celtis Country Lodge & Restaurant, we received nothing but good and friendly service from everyone. The rooms are very well furnished with everything one needs. A very nice swimming pool and outdoor play area for children. The on-site restaurant was very convenient for us. We had dinner and breakfast and both meals were really delicious! We would definitely stay here again and can also recommend it.
Errol literally waited for us at the gate and everything was ready for us. Our room was comfortably furnished with everything we would need. We unpacked and walked across the lawn to the restaurant where we enjoyed a delicious dinner and were then able to relax comfortably after a long journey and regain strength for the next day's long drive. Had another delicious breakfast in the morning and then continued our journey. All staff were very helpful and friendly. They will definitely see us again.
I can definitely recommend Celtis Country Lodge & Restaurant. They arranged accommodation for us at very short notice and even kept the restaurant open so we could have dinner. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean. The breakfast was delicious and the solar power was also a bonus.

We were on our way to Johannesburg after a visit to the Cape. Celtis Country Lodge was recommended by family and friends and we are so glad we were able to spend the night there. The room was beautiful, clean, perfectly appointed and had everything needed. We were able to park right in front of the room, the place is safe and the restaurant served delicious meals. Friendly and helpful staff received and served us, we will surely make it a pit stop again.

Drove from George to Pretoria and Middelburg was a good overnight town. The fact that there is a restaurant on site counts for a lot. Then the food was really very nice. Friendly people everywhere. Breakfast was included, but the price was a bit high just for an overnight stay. Still, it was a good idea to stay there.
The only critique is that the DStv was stuck on one channel and we couldn't change it.

Breakfast was included with accommodation and that was one of the reasons why I wanted to book there. Unfortunately, we could only have a proper breakfast in the restaurant once on the 26th of December. Got our food parcels for the 24th which were freezing cold. It certainly did not outweigh the R105 breakfast we would have had if we had eaten in the restaurant. They had food parcels for us for the 25th of December, but we never received them. We weren't even asked what we wanted to order. Nobody was there. Since when WhatsApp you a guest. It was never confirmed if we received breakfast. The food was left in a fridge and left there. Why are discussions allowed in such circumstances? My children ordered extra drinks on the morning of the 26th December which were not included on the breakfast menu for which I had to pay. I refused. I paid R5600 for this stay and will never do it again. I definitely feel put in. We expected more and better service because that's what I paid for.
Celtis is always our choice for sleepover. Clean, beautifully set in the Karoo. It's a must for travellers.

I was in Middelburg for the Wolfees at the end of June and someone from the area recommended Celtis. It was absolutely perfect for my needs: nice decor, spacious and comfortable, lovely bedding, air conditioning and electric blanket for the freezing cold, delicious food at the on-site restaurant. There was phase 4 power shedding but the hotel was still able to keep lights on in the rooms and their restaurant was still able to provide food - they were well prepared with generator and were very helpful. Many thanks to the whole team - it was great.

We enjoyed a delicious dinner with Lourens and his restaurant members. It rained almost all night which made the sleep very pleasant. Even if there was load shedding, it did not bother the guests because of the large diesel generator and PV panels and batteries.
Chyanne gave us such a friendly welcome and when my son joined us and I needed to find an extra room, they moved us to a family suite without any hassle. The food and drinks are delicious and incredibly good value for money. If I go to visit my son again, I won't stay anywhere else.

Comfortable and tidy overnight accommodation. I suggest they get decent bathroom floor towels or mats as the ones provided are very slippery when wet and my daughter injured herself slipping. Fresh milk in the room would have been welcome, especially since I asked for it. The internet connection did not work at all. The breakfast that was included was very nice!
Lovely lodge and a perfect halfway stop on the way back to Johannesburg. We were in room 4. Beautiful rooms and comfortable beds. We also had a nice dinner by the pool, was great after a long day on the road. One small frustration was that there was no milk in our unit for a cup of tea.

As a painstakingly neat and organized person with high standards, I found my stay extremely pleasant, you could immediately sense that genuine rural warmth and authenticity with value for your money, punctual cleanliness, security and those Karoolam chops were mouth-wateringly delicious. My wife and I enjoyed our stop-over at Celtics Country Lodge as part of our Garden Route road trip. The room was clean, the food was good and the staff were friendly.
Power was out which was beyond guesthouse's control. This meant that there was no water. My recommendation is that additional provision is made for water if the power is out. Going without water in toilets and faucets is not fun.

After a long day's driving, we were surprised to see in a fairly neglected village this beautifully maintained oasis and gem, Celtis Country Lodge. Effective management, personal service from the owners, friendly and helpful staff and spotless room and facilities ensure that we will definitely recommend it to friends and come back ourselves. 10/10!

An unexpected hideaway in a deserted town in the Karoo. Was extremely impressed with the accommodation, service and facility. The pool was a great welcome in the heat of the Karoo. The farm style breakfast was a great addition as well.

It was great to arrive at a beautiful place with great service and friendly people after a long day on the road. The room is very nice and very well equipped. My children could play and swim and we had a great time relaxing. Our experience was like that of people who arrived at an Oasis in the hot Karoo. The restaurant's food is very tasty and very well priced. We would definitely recommend the wonderful place and even spend the night there again. Thank you very much!

One of the few places where there are enough wall plugs in the RIGHT places. A small suggestion is that the staff, after cleaning, test the TV to see if it is tuned correctly. The staff had to scramble around because the previous guests, like "normal people" pushed every precious button. Thanks to the man who responded so quickly. They see us again.

We were a couple and two single ladies. The facilities and service were second to none, the fact that there are no doors in front of the bathrooms was a bit embarrassing for the singles. A towel had to serve as a curtain. We will go again, especially if we are alone, or make a request for a separation. Good value for money, thank you.

There were children who made a bit of noise when I wanted to rest a bit in the afternoon and late night arrivals who talked loudly and woke me up, but otherwise the stay was very pleasant. Eat well.

Didn't have hot water after 7 hours on the road. Reported this to management and the explanation I get is that other guests have already used the hot water. I set the alarm for early next morning, but still no hot water. After investigation it is found power was off. Came home to take a shower.

Restaurant - we waited more than an hour for food, pizza was still raw, then waited another 30 minutes to get it done, chicken was hard. The manager (very nice and helpful) gave us discount for the bad food. Far too few staff for the number of guests, staff very friendly try their best. Friendly and helpful staff. Average accommodation, old towels, restaurant service was slow and questionable food!

We were welcomed very kindly and even the owner came to start a chat. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who just wants to stay overnight. Restaurant on site which made it very convenient. We were surprised to be able to eat even the tastiest turtles and home-made pie. The prices are very reasonable and the portions hopelessly too big. We had such a good stay and the staff are very helpful and will help where they can. The rooms are very neat and the internet works well.
Nice room, sorry two beds and not a double, and toilet doesn't have a door which is not nice. But both dinner in the restaurant as well as breakfast were very nice.
The warm water disappeared quite quickly, but as for the rest it's a very neat and warm place for a getaway.
Very nice stay, we will come again. The best is the restaurant. Please suggest that you put a small bar fridge in each room. Middelburg is hot in the summer and will be handy to keep water or a cold drink cold. I am also diabetic and need to keep my insulin cold and without a fridge in the room it is impossible.

Thank you LekkeSlaap, you made our booking easy. I don't know if the guesthouse management was already tired of the holiday traffic, but it seemed that way. The pile of carpets in front of our room door, which still needed to be stored, remained there from our arrival, until we left, the next morning. I just folded it up and left it in our room. There is a water shortage in Middelburg, with the necessary notices in the rooms, but our room's sink faucet was leaking. That settles the trouble. The manager on duty in the restaurant during dinner, 'hung' at the counter, and mastered his mobile phone. The service staff provided their best service. Compliments to them. The meal was flavorful enough, and the portions adequate. The deep-fried milk tart was a novelty I was looking forward to, but the first attempt was still frozen, and the second's dough was still raw in places. Our room was nicely decorated, and comfortable enough. The wi-fi wouldn't connect, but I can't necessarily blame the guest house for that. The takeaway breakfast packs are a good idea, as many guests may leave early. It would help if all the choices offered were available, which they were not. To match my comments I would say that it doesn't quite justify the cost. Considering the number of staff working there, I assume it requires quite a sum to cover all costs, but then I should be able to say, "Wow!!!", but unfortunately I can't. The country friendliness does not justify all the slips of the hospitality letter.

Definitely a place to stay the night. From arrival to check-out, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The units were spacious and tidy. The food was very tasty! I would recommend them for sure!
