The building was bought by the Ohlsson’s Cape Breweries in 1894 from the estate of George Bowern. It was converted into the Central Hotel, and it formed part of the Breweries’ overall drive to own as many hotels as possible in order to promote beer sales.
The Hotel thrived until well after World War II.
In 1987, the building was purchased by the Coetzee family owned and managed by Malinda Coetzee up until early 2015 until Peter Weng took over.
After various renovations the Central Hotel Guest House now consist of ten comfortable en-suites with beautiful Victorian dècor and a touch of modern flair.
Guest are accommodated on a Bed and Breakfast basis. We are centrally situated with some of the best views in Simon’s Town and in walking distance to our town’s fine cuisine served at numerous restaurants. Simon’s Town is rich in history, character, atmosphere and lots of warmth. Our neighbours are whales, penguins and seals with world heritage status bird life, famous deep sea fishing and the beauty of Table Mountain and Cape Point.

Grand old dame from a forgotten era. Great antique furniture and comfortable setting.
I am always on the hunt for a bargain and if I decide I want to do something now, I want to do it! Central Hotel was all that I imagined it to be and the pictures on the website are exactly as it is. Staff are very friendly. Rooms are very clean with an unexpected welcome letter in my room with my name!. It's the small details that matter to me. I hope to return soon!
I had a fantastic stay at Central Hotel Guest House, the breakfast was awesome and the room very comfortable. One issue I could raise is to install ceiling fans or airconditioners in the rooms.
For someone who wants to stay in Simonstad, this hotel is suitable and located near dozens of small restaurants and coffee shops. It's intimate and one of a kind.

I just feel they should advertise that there is only minimum DStv channels and no WiFi. Free parking is street parking. Other than that, the room was acceptable.

Parking is a problem. Walking distance to many of the must see places. Very nice view.
Saturday morning we had to check out and although it was already after 10 o'clock, they were still willing to offer us a breakfast and we could use their shower facilities. They really went out of their way to make it as pleasant as possible.
A surprisingly old hotel from the time of the Belle Epoque. The location is usually on one busy/ and destination road to Kaap de Goede hoping for the tourist and the business resident of this small town,.... the Navy. The South African war grounds are within sight from your spacious terrace on the first floor. Nice for the lover. In the morning hours from 07.00 hours it gets very crowded with the arrival of these Navy people. So quite a lot of noise. The only solution then is to get up early and go to your terrace, to get unsolicited coffee at this early hour from the very friendly service. As said, a very old hotel, where you don't have to give any European standards, but take it as it is!! A really nice experience. Our neighbors were South Africans. Young people who were in training at the Navy! It was also a very positive experience to meet and have breakfast with these young South Africans. To be recommended for tourists who have a relationship with the Marine and-or have an army. Certainly before us one reason to revisit this old hotel with its atmosphere.
For the price we expected more, but we love Simonstad itself.
No complaints. The service was top notch and very friendly. Breakfast was off the books and the accommodation is unbeatable.
