50 guests' feedbackVery comfortable stay. The rooms were very clean and neat. Dinner and breakfast were delicious. The staff went out of their way to make us and our kids feel at home. The hotel is also in very close proximity to tourist attractions such as Little Paris and Harties Cableway.

We stayed in room 6 for 4 nights - spacious, with a separate bathroom that includes a large bath with a view as well as a shower and toilet. The veranda is also particularly spacious and allows one to enjoy a 180 degree view of the dam. The bed was very comfortable and of course the air conditioning was also put to good use in a hot summer. Breakfast was good, including the coffee. A cot was also provided as we requested. The staff are very friendly and helpful, but I think there may be too few of them to adequately staff all the positions. The swimming pool was also very welcome and well used. The braai area next to the pool was also used and enjoyed one evening. There is a room under room 6 which functions almost like a common kitchen and social area, but unfortunately some of the appliances such as the oven and fridge/freezer do not work. At least we could hang out there with our friends who were staying in one of the other rooms. Unfortunately, there was also an incident where our room door was wide open on our return, after a day out on January 1st. So one star less for safety. We would love to stay there again!

I will not stay there again. I couldn't set the aircon, no power points by the bed for mobile phone charger, no floor mats in the bathroom. It runs and slides after you shower. The shower taps are loose. It's not. 00 per night not worth it.
The guest house is beautiful, but the carpets in the room we slept in were dirty and could easily be washed a bit and the "grout" in the shower is black which says it hasn't been scrubbed or cleaned for a long time. Then there were the 2 ladies who slept above us who partied so badly and played loud music that we later had to call the manager at 10pm that night to shut them up. We cannot blame the guest house for the guests' behavior. The same ladies walked into the dining hall the next morning in their night clothes. I think there should be a "dress code" exposed somewhere so that guests know how to dress for breakfast. The breakfast was heavenly. just had to wait a very long time. We were in the dining hall at 08:30 and didn't walk out until 09:50 had to wait a very long time because they were busy training staff. Otherwise it's a beautiful place.
There was nothing wrong with the place and it is exceptionally beautiful. Unfortunately we waited a very long time for a cold breakfast. The cutlery was also not properly covered and the staff who served us did not bring what we ordered.
Would recommend anyone to go and stay there.

You may not buy and use your own alcohol on the premises and there is a fine to be paid if you do. The bar fridge in the room was not refilled and there were only 2 x beers available which I normally drink. I thought it good to support the guest house and just had to drink what was available. Didn't enjoy it at all. You only get coffee and milk for one use and are not refilled either. Had to take care of coffee, milk and sugar for coffee.
My wife and I had a wonderful stay here. Had a beautiful large unit. The breakfast was very nice. All the information they sent with the booking was very valuable. Would love to stay there again, but would like to book the "penthouse" which unfortunately was already booked and not much more expensive than our unit.

Overall the guest house is good but the maintenance was not up to standard. There were several amenities and other equipment that were not right: DStv kept getting stuck, light switch in room was loose, paint on several corners was damaged. Not value for money.
Water was coming out from the bar fridge in the room and the floor was wet and the very same receptionist had to use towels to block the water from spreading in the room. The curtains in that room were also dirty including the bathrobes you can see that they have never been washed from the last use. The owner did not even greet us when we met her outside. She needs to clean that place in order to attract guests.

I had booked room 4, but on my arrival I requested to upgrade and move to the penthouse as it was available and the lady assisted me. The staff members were extremely friendly and I thoroughly enjoyed the view the room offers. It was a beautiful experience. I will most definitely be coming back.
It was the most romantic guesthouse and atmosphere we have ever experienced together. We enjoyed booking in and staying somewhere for a weekend, but the getaway was wonderful. We will make a reservation again any day at this lovely place.
It was made very clear that guests were not allowed to take any refreshments. It is only provided for guests who drink alcohol and not at all for those who do not drink alcohol. There are several 0% alcohol refreshments available.
A place to find rest after a busy week of noise and commotion. The beautiful view over the Hartbeespoort Dam creates an incredible atmosphere that makes one realize that life is more beautiful than what daily society suggests.
The best place to switch off and be quiet, especially with your spouse. The Penthouse is the best if you want to book a romantic weekend to spoil your loved one. We will stay at Chateau la Mer Exclusive Guesthouse again anytime, because the service is incredibly good, and the staff is always friendly and helpful. It's always neat and clean, not to mention the incredible garden they have. Thank you to everyone who made our stay so special.

Excellent view over Harties. It's the perfect getaway for a couple. We stayed in the penthouse for our wedding anniversary and it was unforgettable. Beautiful view of the pond, very romantic room and bathroom and the dinner prepared by Connie was excellent. Definitely worth the money!

Unfortunately, I won't go back again - the building has been standing since 2010 and you don't want to pay that much and stare into a building site. I wanted to cry so hard the bed was and since it was our romantic weekend away I'm really disappointed. However, the service, food and decor were excellent.
