31 guests' feedbackReally enjoyed our time at Chandelier. The hostess, Jane, made every effort to ensure that we were comfortable with our tent and facilities. Breakfast and dinner were excellent. Our guide, Hailey, made our stay even more enjoyable for the kids. She was very knowledgeable and able to answer any questions about the animals and plants in the area. Meeting Sheila the giraffe was an added bonus. She's a beauty.
The staff, owners and Jiraffe was so very friendly and helpful. The restaurant had "lekker kos" and exceptional service.
A lovely place to be, but then let yourself be pampered. We booked and didn't realise that breakfast and safari were included. A pleasant surprise. The cottage is sufficiently equipped to prepare your own dinner, but I recommend enjoying the delicious menu of the lodge. It is possible to eat in the restaurant, but you can also have food from the restaurant delivered to the cottage. We did it two evenings, both times a hit! Good service, friendly staff, beautiful location, plenty to do in the area, wifi is available but not always stable. In short: highly recommended.
Very warm welcome and the game ranger, was very friendly and his knowledge was amazing. Thank you for the wonderful experience.
From the entrance, the appearance of the place did not look like a four star. The people were very friendly. Tent was neat and looked like pictures. There was loadshedding and all that could work were lights and the fridge. It was a terribly hot weekend, would have appreciated the air conditioning working. The tent was so hot inside that our four month old baby was sweating. The restaurant's quality was not the best either. There is a lot of potential for the lodge. Value for money - no.
The tent was very tastefully furnished with everything you need and more. The bath was lovely and the warm blanket on the bed wonderfully cuddly. The food is top notch and we were served at our tent's porch and we saw quite a few goats while we were eating. Really value for money. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful.
Best service! Best food! And the effort that is made for guests means that you will go back again and again! Had a very, very nice weekend!
We stayed in a beautiful tent, very nice, modern and tasteful.
We loved the Giraffe Sheila & the Restaurant looking over the pond. It was most fortunate as they had had good rains so there was water in the dam too. The restaurant staff were great & we had two lovely breakfasts there. We had made a faux paux with our booking & only discovered this on arrival. We had booked tents but they were not suitable for 4 of us to self-cater. The staff were amazing & a chalet was available so they set it up & we were very happy (would have been much cheaper if we knew). The deck area was lovely for a braai & relaxing while we played cards. The Nyala wander past the deck & it was great to see them at close quarters. The game drive was lovely & Marcel was very knowledgeable. A perfect sunset was appreciated on the way back. We travel a lot & a very common complaint is the showers. Unfortunately the shower was a mere dribble & I'm sure this can be resolved quite easily. Would definitely recommend a short stay here.
The stay was very good. However, all the items on the list in the house were not in the house. For example, there were not enough forks and all the plates and knives were not in the house. There were also too few dining room chairs for the 5 of us. Outside the master bedroom was a "beep" noise during the night which was extremely disturbing. It was better later in our stay, but still made noise from time to time. On the positive side, Marcel was extremely helpful and really made us feel like he cared and wanted us to have a good stay. He is a huge asset to Chandelier Game Lodge.
With little rain it is a dry arrival, but then Chandelier welcomes us and makes sure we have everything for a comfortable stay. Sunset over the Karoo hills and stars and a small fire light up the darkness. An enthusiastic and passionate guide takes us early in the morning to get to know the different antelopes in the reserve and the friendly kitchen staff then serve a tasty home-made breakfast, homemade sausage and even an Oudtshoorn ostrich egg. It was a fantastic experience that everyone should experience when touring in SA, expats or locals will not regret it. Thank you so much, Chandelier!
As jy in Oudsthoorn-omgewing is is hierdie die perfekte plek waar jy wil bly.
I recommend everyone to stay in these luxurious tents. It's unbelievable. Glamping, as people call it. Beautiful, spacious, nice bathroom and outside shower. We were there in January when it was 40°C and the tent was quite warm when we arrived, but there's a big fan and air-conditioning and at 18:00 a nice cool breeze came up. The beds are very comfortable. We bought a braai pack for R50 and had a lovely braai that evening. The bar fridge had lovely wine, beer and soda at a reasonable price. The workers were very friendly and helpful. You just have to wear shoes outside, there are a lot of thorns. Our breakfast was delicious and the kids (3 and 5) fed the giraffe. Would definitely come again, we stay in Canada, so we enjoyed it.
The photos on your website create an unrealistic expectation about the accommodation. There is basically nothing going on on the farm - 2 ostriches do not make an ostrich farm. Marcel was very hospitable and looked after us well and the food was nice, but one can get much closer to the tourist attractions at a much better price.
We were welcomed with the following, 'we're just talking about the guests who haven't checked in yet'. No welcome was done. No explanation of the facilities was given, the invoice with outstanding balance was stuffed under my nose. After this we were shown to the tent that would be our place to sleep for the evening and even before we could reach the door we were greeted by the previous guests' mattresses and bedclothes standing and showing off on the porch for us. Now I don't understand at all what the problem was that we didn't get there early enough for the receptionist's liking, as it was very clear from the welcome mattresses, the dirty fridge and accompanying wooden shelf in the bathroom and the lack of shampoo etc. that they were not at all ready to receive us. After expressing my husband's unhappiness about the situation, our receptionist left without a word. No visit or call was received from management, although when we called later to confirm that we were not going to enjoy dinner at the lodge, we were on a casual 'we understand that you are not going to join the game drive either'. It is very clear to us from our era ring that this institution is still trying to ride the wave of a good name that no longer exists for a long time,
Quiet place and friendly staff.
This is one place that I will definitely recommend to all friends and family to visit. The service is fantastic. They make sure to concentrate on each haste. Johannes, who greeted and helped me and my boyfriend from meeting us, is a wonderful person. He makes you feel at home and the owner and his wife make you feel at home very quickly. I will definitely pack my bags again soon and visit them.
The four of us stayed in the tented camp, which usually sleeps 2. The lodge added 2 stretchers for the kids and there was ample space for the four of us. The surprise of the outdoor shower was awesome for the kids, they loved it. However, it was beat by the game drives and the feeding of the giraffes. The game drives were beautiful, we were able to see various types of buck and had the opportunity to learn more about them, which was great. The feeding of the giraffes was also an unforgettable experience and a great photo opp! The kids absolutely adored them and didn't want to say goodbye!
We were taken care of by the staff and it made our stay very pleasant from our arrival to our departure. Our dinner was brought to our tent and it was delicious with soft and juicy meat. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend Chandelier.
Everything was fine but they should consider swimming facilities. It's hot and dry there.
See the stars.
Friendly and helpful services. Will visit again.
Despite the fact that we were the only guests, the staff did their utmost to make us feel welcome! Heartwarming!
Accommodation was good, but it could be cleaner. Dinner was disappointing.
Chandelier is a beautiful place with very nice people! We stayed in the Rustic cottage. It is indeed 'rustic'. During our stay there was a baby giraffe (Shorty) who was being raised by Hans. It was very special to be able to feed him.
Arriving with a family with two toddlers in the winter and having no hot water is unacceptable especially since the management did not try to fix it.
Excellent service and hospitality.
It's a piece of heaven in the Karoo! The people are friendly and helpful. The children could move around.
Luxury tent with all amenities. Very neat and clean.
Chandelier advertises as 4 star, but the accommodation barely deserves 1 star. Place was in very bad condition. At least service was better.
The friendly service, delicious meals and well-equipped accommodation were delicious and definitely something to recommend.
