For one night's sleepover it was ok. Rooms neat, but everything looks old and shabby. You can't see it in photos.
We were received kindly and the restaurant's food is very tasty. Even though there are clear notices that no swimming is allowed after dark, we were woken both nights in the midnight hours by noise from swimmers in the hotel pool.
It was a lovely visit. With good service.
The place was great, was just not happy with my room being so close to the dinning area. I couldn't enjoy the beautiful view because the was always people outside.

I feel there is uncertainty between the website and their service providers about what they offer if you book through the website.
No shops nearby. Hotel located on a hill, difficult to walk back. Would be ideal if you have your own transport. I found it difficult because it is not safe to walk alone, day or night.
The hotel is old and run down. The coffee station in the room does not have fresh milk. The linen is old. But clean.
Location is perfect, excellent views, but other visitors were incredibly rowdy, drunk, pool taken over. No one stopped them. Screamed all day and all night. No manager asked them to be considerate. Chaos. Television channels only Openview. Where is the DStv? Aircon makes incredible noise when on. Space is limited please. maintenance. Fall apart. We asked for breakfast at 8 o'clock the next morning. When we got to dining room, nothing was arranged. We were pissed about no sleep either. Other guests shouted until 4 in the morning. We had to order again. Food was not too bad. But we just wanted to get out there. Chaos. Minus 10.
Service was poor.
Things I forgot to report to reception. The flat we had, the bedroom window handle screws are loose and hand basin need to be unblocked as water drains slowly. It is the best deal we had on our trip to Cape Town and back.
The Chapman Hotel is a jewel in Port Elizabeth. It has a wonderful view of the beach and the bay and the staff are friendly, helpful and very nice. Their prices are decent and the food that they serve in their restaurant are great.

It's pocket-sized accommodation and therefore it is unreasonable to expect a 5-star hotel. Everyone was friendly and helpful and restaurant fair and food tasty. Beds comfortable and everything was clean. Place is old and lacks maintenance. But I would stay there again due to location, cost and convenience for Ironman weekend.
The reception was not welcoming and not explaining if breakfast is included or not. The shower smell of mildew. No notifications on if there is services of ironing and explaining the DStv channels available. Did not indicate if Wi-Fi is available or not. Scenery over the ocean is beautiful and makes a good impression.
No safety. The sliding doors doesn't lock, no security for you car, no fence around the complex.
Friendly people and nice view. Just walk to the beach as soon as possible.

My first room's security door couldn't lock so they had to move me. The second room's doors were all hard to sew and the food was not of good quality. I did sleep well, at least they clean well every day. There were also two nights during the week where people were allowed to hang out until 11 o'clock in the evening so it was difficult to fall asleep.

The Chapman Hotel is good value for money. Own parking and sea view and close to the beach, Bayworld and other eateries and also has its own restaurant. The rooms were clean and beautiful with sliding doors. Rooms on first floor have balconies. Usual TV channels, limited WiFi but adequate for my needs. Comfy beds, hot water. Kettle and complimentary coffee and tea.
Value for money, tidy and clean facilities, friendly service, centrally located and the restaurant is just wonderful.
I would recommend it to any person who would like to stay or travel in Port Elizabeth. Neat and very, very helpful.
We were a group of friends who stayed in 3 rooms. The beds were clean an dcomfy and looked just like the pics. Clean rooms, ultra modern bathroom but all you need - spacious and clena. Towels were replaced every day, spotless. Only negative thing was that 2 of the rooms didn't have fridges. The staff were very friendly except the lady at reception, but the rest of the staff were friendly and efficient. Will stay there again.

Even though there was a coffee station in the unit, there were no ingredients to make coffee or tea. The basin in the bathroom leaks so the floor is wet and stays slippery. No glasses to drink water or cooldrink.
Unfortunately, the hotel looks old and shabby. The pictures advertised are totally deceiving. The rooms smelled and the furniture was not in good condition. The bathroom was dated. Would not recommend to anyone.

Apartment 2 needs some TLC, but otherwise very neat and comfortable. Kitchen lacks a few basic things for essentials, e.g. no vegetable knife or vegetable peeler, no tupperware to store leftovers or anything. Only had 1 glass salad bowl. Didn't have an ovenproof dish to make an oven dish in. We were 2 married couples and would definitely go back again.

Chapman Hotel was a comfortable experience. There was nothing really wrong, but deterioration was noticeable. Fortunately, the view and restaurant make up for it.

The stay was very pleasant and comfortable. Not the friendliest service I've ever had. The power also went out in the area and there was no provision made for such cases, not even a candle or a flashlight. In general, however, very neat and clean.
Room was neat and clean. So is the bathroom. The coffee and tea were limited and of a cheap standard. Also just creamers. TV channels are extremely limited.
The photos on the website show nice white linen and you get a clear idea. However, this was not the case. The bedding was old. The chairs have marks on them and light yellow spots. The lamps couldn't even work.
