The amount you pay promises an above-average experience. The front view of the guest house is not welcoming - is austere with not even umbrellas around the pool. The water was off (which is not the guest house's fault), but communication around it was zero and we took freezing showers. The breakfast that was so highly rated on social media was power. There was hardly any choice and for example only had cheap shop bread and the next day only 6 croissants for 14 guests! The fruit plate was basically empty by the time we got there and the coffee. No one came to ask what you want. The rooms were comfortable and lovely clean linen. The honesty bar is a nice idea, but is handled strangely because you have to propose your own price per drink at the end of your stay. There is no place to hang wet swimming towels and we were advised to simply hang them over the open windows on the outside. We realize it's Struis Bay and not Cape Town and it's a nice beach town, but for this price you expect a lot more.
