Unfortunately, load shedding (outside the guest house's control) affects any holiday. There was gas available, but the bottle was empty? The gas stove did not work. Unfortunately, there was also a water shortage (outside the guest house's control), but caused the overnight stay to not be 100%.

Cherry House as a whole is very cute, but Lavender Room is probably better suited for a one night stop over as oposed to 3 nights which we booked. Its very clean and neat, but there arent enough surface spaces to put things on, so we used the floor, which felt quite cluttered. Also, I didnt love using the bathroom basin to wash my dishes in. but thats a formality. At night, falling asleep was made very difficult by the above apartment, as the noise travels down and you can hear every movement/conversation made. If you are used to apartment living, then I'm sure its fine, but if you live in a free standing house, its not great. I think Lavender Room would be better suited to a maximum of 2 people, and the first room be made into a lounge with a sleeper couch/ kitchenette instead if a bedroom with just a corner shelf as a kitchenette.

Upon our arrival we were kindly received. The place was very neat and very beautiful and comfortable. We slept wonderfully in the clean bedding and you can see that provision is made for cold nights. There was sufficient coffee, tea and water. Everything you could need was available. We loved how the unit was laid out. For the price we paid compared to other guesthouses we were really very satisfied and impressed. Elbie and her husband were very helpful and even allowed us to book in earlier as we came from far away. Of course, our children really enjoyed the WIFI. Access to the unit was secure and very convenient. I will definitely stay there again should the opportunity present itself. I highly recommend the guest house.
Would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to visit Fouriesburg. From the garden to the overnight facilities are beautiful and well maintained. Very cute place. Despite the loadshedding we had, we slept wonderfully.
We stayed overnight on our way across to Lesotho and what a pleasant experience it turned out to be, from the welcoming by the hosts to the accommodation (The Shack), to the dinner at one of the local restaurants, what a real hidden gem this turned out to be, and true value for money. Great communication leading up to the stay and they even arranged for breakfast the next morning and a huge bag of firewood for those cold nights. Really went above and beyond.
A heater was all that was missing.

What a wonderful time we had recently in Fouriesburg. Elsa, her daughter and husband really went out of their way to make our stay extra nice. It was terribly cold, and there had been more than enough fireplace wood. Accommodation was neat, spotless and good value for money. Would definitely highly recommend Cherry House.

Very friendly reception. Everything inside and outside the apartment met our requirements. There was a braai with firewood and tools ready on arrival! Friendliest people. Very cute and beautiful place with beautiful garden and very friendly dog. Only thing I felt slightly embarrassed about was that I was incredibly happy that there were hair dryers in both rooms, but unfortunately there was not the right wall plug to be able to use them. But no problem for me, we ride motorbikes so one's hair doesn't stay nice after all. I would go back there anytime.
Our own preparation was a bit poor, town closes at 18:00. No take-aways. It's so quiet and peaceful, you can hear yourself thinking. Very nice area and residents in the town are very friendly. Cherry house is the best value for money with the friendliest owners.

We had a really nice stay, People are great and very hospitable. I loved every corner of our place! There was just enough that is needed in any self-catering unit! And more. It was very safe and I highly recommend booking there again for our next trip down.

It's a beautiful cottage with the most wonderful atmosphere. Wonderfully quiet. Beautiful furniture and high quality bedding! Beautiful garden.
Very helpful, helped with additional equipment for cooking. The owner's living area was above our room and is noisy as they move on the wooden floor. The place is ideal for just a few nights, wouldn't suggest wanting to stay longer than 3 nights, just too small for that.
After an exhausting drive from the Western Cape with a terrible potholed drive on the R26 we stayed the night at Fouriesburg. The cottage had everything we needed for a good nights sleep. We did have issues with hot water and then water pressure but we guessed that was a result of the big thunderstorm as we arrived.
I recommend anyone to spend the night there. Really had no problems.
Elbie was helpful and sorted out arrangements for the evening meal at Plaas Stoep which was decent food. I found the accommodation rather cluttered but others may like the style. Also rather dark inside with uninviting security bar cage around the front entrance which is off the parking area. Not great if you want to sit outside. But given the price, I can't expect too much :).

Firstly, the hosts were amazingly friendly and welcoming, they also went above and beyond to provide us with everything we needed or wanted. The area is surrounded by beautiful mountains and just outside of the Meiringskloof Nature Park. The Rosemary Room was top-notch in cleanliness and gave a comforting atmosphere with all the wood and big windows that let in the sun. The perfect "honeymoon" suite.

The rooms are excellently equipped, everything was of the best quality and quality, from the cups right through to the towels, beds, bedding. There was milk in the fridge and cookies with the coffee.
