The room and braai facilities were very nice. With the load shedding there was a generator and I could always use the air-conditioning as well as the lights. I would recommend Chives to people who want to spend the night there.

A wonderful spot for our planned overnight stop and visit to the national park. Very neat, clean and cosy, in a quiet, safe suburb.
The accommodation is sufficient for an overnight stay. Place is neat, clean with a basic kitchen. Beds and linen were of good quality which contributes to a good night's rest. The front door definitely needs a curtain because the room is brightly lit by the outside lights. There was no WiFi available.
We were welcomed by our host Dulcie and shown around a beautifully appointed compact apartment. It was quite disappointing to find no kitchen sink although the unit was described on the website as self catering with kitchenette. Hopefully this can be addressed as the apartment is wonderfully decorated and I would like to recommend Chive's Cottages to my friends.
The accommodation is five-star! Very clean, excellent linen, electric blankets, air conditioning, full DStv. Very well equipped, great hostess!
I spent little time in the room as I was only staying there for business. Everything was very clean and tidy and there really wasn't anything I didn't want. Hot shower with hot water, nice clean bed that slept like a dream. Would definitely recommend to someone just looking for a place to sleep. Maybe just a chair or desk in the room would help, especially for business travelers. But I really enjoyed it and Dulcie was very friendly and helpful.
Conveniently located, hostess is friendly and helpful. Nice bed with good linen, full DStv a bonus. The kitchen is very well equipped with the most necessary quality crockery. For someone from Gauteng, the fact that the yard is not fenced might bother, but we felt very safe. Can recommend for sure.
Everything you need in a nutshell. Quiet residential area. Mini-courtyard for private use. Only small flaw: Should have had WiFi according to the description but had not. Altogether a very good travelling experience.

Dulcie welcomed us kindly. We appreciated the sky rail as it was a sweltering hot day. The cool and stylish room with all accessories was a pleasure. The bed was comfortable and we slept great. I can highly recommend Chive's Cottages.

Chive's Cottages is easily accessible and we were warmly received. The two units are comfortable and clean and the beds and bedding are of good quality. The modern bathroom (shower) is tasteful and clean. The kitchenette offers everything one could need such as crockery, cutlery, microwave, kettle and stove. There is also a private patio which is ideal for a barbecue. A small dish braai and grill are provided. Next time I will grill!

We had a great stay at Chives cottages. The place is spotless and everything we needed was there. The great thing, which so few places to stay these days cater for, is that you can drive your vehicle up to within 2 meters of the front door - this makes dropping off luggage much easier! We would highly recommend Chives Cottages to anyone traveling through Cradock.

Beautiful room and facilities are good. The first impression is less good though, no garage or close to the guesthouse. Our room was cleaned every day, new towels were provided and the room was well equipped with aircon and that is all you need. Can definitely recommend it. Would maybe just have liked if our car, which was under shaded netting, could have been safer. Service was friendly and it's good value for money. Beautiful room, very neat and clean. First impression was less good, no name of the guesthouse and no lockable garage or gates. Car is under shaded netting though. The room is beautiful and has all the necessities. The room is cleaneed daily, they provide fresh towels, dishes are washed, definitely a bonus. I just think a lockable gate or garage would be better, especially for people who are used to living in areas where there are lots of break-ins, it gives one peace of mind. It is definitely value for money and I can recommend it for sure. The service was excellent!

This place is well equipped for people wanting a stopover point on their way to Cape Town. Great welcoming. Very clean and neat and we would definitely recommend it.
Accommodation was good. Just the restaurant that was recommended was was very bad. Food and meat were off and gave it to us without hesitation. When we complained they pulled up their shoulders and gave us the full bill. I wouldn't recommend Country Living to anybody, you risk your life eating there. A health risk and it has to be closed as soon as possible.
I think a zink in the kitchen and wardrobes with keys is really needed in that place. It was a bit awkward leaving your personal stuff just like that in the room knowing that strangers will come to clean. The fact that we have to wait for the lady to lock the building was also awkward.
The location is great and streets better than similar places in the town center where travelers are often harassed by beggars.
We had 4 fantastic nights at Chives Cottages. Rooms are modern, very comfortable, clean and well located in Cradock. Our room had everything we needed and there was even fresh milk in the fridge. Owner was very helpful and happy to help where needed. A big plus for us was the air conditioning in the room, seeing as Cradock was terribly hot while we stayed. You will definitely see us again next year!

Very clean and quiet in an area where almost everyone greets you! Cradock's people are indeed very hospitable and our stay at Chive's Cottages was very comfortable and just what we needed for an overnight oasis during a long journey.
We had a wonderful reception. Upon arrival, the owner immediately addressed us by our last name and welcomed us. However, we had to leave very early the next morning due to an unexpected family crisis and could not greet the owner in person. However, we will definitely use Chive's Cottages again, as our grandson is in Marlow Agricultural School, and we regularly attend some of its functions.
Would recommend the place to stay as it was very pleasant!
Everything was great, but there is a lack of 2 chairs to sit on, otherwise the beds would be yellowed and the duvets could get dirty. The bathroom lacks shelves for the women's bottles of make-up and a hook or 2 would also help a lot to hang clothes on. But if I come down next year, I will stay there again. This is just my feeling. Oh yes, the only slip was that there was no ice in the fridge. The ice tray was empty. Thank you

Accommodation at Chives Cottages was pleasant and spotless. Well equipped and serviced all our needs. I did feel however, that out bedroom door facing the road was not private and there need to be some kind of fence between the road and the cottage.
This unit served all our needs. Will definitely recommend if you are not keen on historic buildings/antiques as the rest of the self catering units we looked at in Cradock was just that! Modern, clean, crisp bedding and towels. Very private, cosy courtyard at the back with a braai facility. The only thing that was lacking were towel rails.
Would stay there again in a heartbeat when next travelling through Cradock.
Will just want more milk in the fridge next time, we were there with a trolley and didn't want to stop to buy fresh milk.
