Me, my mother and my twins were looking for a comfortable place to sleep so that the children could have a decent rest before the funeral early the next morning. The receptionists were incredibly cute and helped us so nicely with our luggage. She even made sure we got the best room where it was also quiet. The next morning we had to leave early for the funeral. The kitchen offered to make our breakfast later so we could pick it up later. The breakfast was very nice, as was the place to sleep! Our room with en-suite was spacious, tidy and the beds/bedding were of the best quality. It has been a long time since I have been to a place where the service and facilities are so good. I can't complain about anything. Thanks for the nice stay!
I was pleasantly surprised with the variety of offerings at the accommodation. Given that my stay included Christmas and Boxing Day, I really had everything I needed at the accommodation to make these memorable days.

A lovely old hotel with large, well-equipped rooms. Good food, although only a simple meal on Sunday night. Nice outside breakfast area spoilt by broken, dirty furniture. Cleaning staff need supervision.

We had a great time. The lodge is on the main street, but we have one room at the back. The breakfast is very good (buffet) and the restaurant serves good food. Staff are friendly and helpful. The lodge is close to the Cederberge and the N7.

The egg ladies (fryers) were entertaining and fresh orange juice was a treat. Very friendly and helpful staff. I know it's out of the lodge's control, just a pity about the rough elements just outside the entrance.

The location in town on a busy street with a lot of traffic was a bit of a let down.
Bar definitely lacks music, so nice to sit there and hang out, but music is needed. 9 o'clock is also a bit early for kitchen and bar to close on a Friday night. Other than that it was really delicious, we will come again!

Facility needs upgrades.
We enjoyed our two night stay in Citrusdal Country Lodge. There are so many treasures of the past on display. Our rooms were beautifully decorated and comfortable. Both the room and the bathroom is spacious. The shower is excellent. We had a balcony as well. The story of the hotel and the plans for the future is very impressive. Hats off to the husband and wife team that have successfully turned the hotel around, made it so beautiful and having further plans to grow the business. The staff are warm and kind.

We ate at the Lodge's restaurant as all other restaurants in town were closed or under construction. The restaurant's service was very slow - we were 1 of 2 tables in the restaurant. (hour waiting period for food). But apart from the service, our visit at Citrusdal was very nice.

I enjoyed it. Only one thing that was not up to standard is the fact that it was in town. I prefer to be away from the hustle and bustle. Our room's bathroom unfortunately did not have a door or curtain in front of the entrance. The staff at the lodge were amazing and the whole lodge went out of their way to accommodate all the cyclists from Rooibos2Muisbos!

We booked more than a month in advance as a group because we all wanted to be together - we booked the double rooms at the back. However, upon check-in there were other dissatisfied guests and our rooms were shuffled to accommodate them. This resulted in some of us staying in the hotel which in my opinion was inferior compared to the double rooms/self catering we had booked. The handling of this did not impress me at all. Other than that, the service, communication (in advance) and rooms were very good and we had a great time. The lapa was a plus and we had a good barbecue. The bar and breakfast staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was a feast.

Friendly, welcoming staff. Our room was comfortable and clean. Unfortunately the bathroom light was not working, but we reported it the next morning. Unfortunately the oxtail we both ordered from the menu was unavailable, but we were not disappointed by the food we subsequently ordered. The breakfast was good.

I would definitely recommend the place because it's fantastic there.
We really enjoyed our stay, even though we only arrived at 19:00 and had to leave at 06:30 the following morning. The rooms were bigger than expected. The dinner was very good and there was a good selection of wines from the local area. Despite us having to leave earlier than the breakfast starting, our hosts made sure everything was available, from eggs and bacon to fresh coffee. The lodge has a great coffee machine.
It was our first time in Citrusdal. The staff were friendly and very helpful with everything that we needed for a braai. We loved relaxing in their beautiful landscape garden with different birds coming to play in the trees. We felt at home. The hotel is very interesting with all the antique furniture and accessories. We took photos with my mums Hotpoint washing machine and more other things that took us back into our childhood days. Breakfast was tops. Rooms were neat and tidy. I would definitely go back to Citrusdal County Lodge again for a stay.

As a base camp for our tour of the West Coast and flowers, this place was ideal. A lot of noise in the evening due tot a conference going on the midnight, can be excused and can also contribute to an unsafe feeling. The meals are useful and delicious and was more than enough for us.
Very well received. Location perfect. Feel safe. Food was very nice. Staff friendly and helpful. Very neat and clean. Just struggling with luggage up and down stairs. No elevator.
Had a great stay for one night during a golf tour. The heat was driven away by the very effective air-conditioning and the breakfast was delicious. I wish I could stay longer. Will definitely visit again.

Neat hotel with old decor, part of the atmosphere, but can look a little tired. Room was not too spacious - two double beds leave no room to sit and socialize. Bathroom clean and tidy, taps hot and cold water indication missing - wasting water waiting for hot water. Breakfast was very good and as we ordered. Parking behind high fence and steel gate. Friendly and helpful staff.
The hotel was very busy with non-residents who came to swim and use the gym. It was very noisy throughout the night with room doors slamming shut. I know the owners can't help it. Their breakfast is great.
Particularly good service from restaurant staff, and a really good dinner after very disinterested welcome and check in. My room, on the Main Road was too noisy for any comfort - particularly from passing traffic, but also from neighbouring rooms and builders on site. Heavy curtaining, both to block out noise and early morning sunlight light would help a little.
There was a hell of a noise from other guests at 2 in the morning. They were drunk and there was no security to arrest them. I absolutely would not recommend anyone to stay overnight in the hotel.

Although the staff were friendly and helpful, there was a total absence of management level. Therefore, the service was slow and sometimes unacceptable. The room was good and clean, but common areas were untidy. The hotel has a lot of potential, but the owners don't seem to care. The fact that we as guests felt uncomfortable in the bar and pool area caused us to go elsewhere. We will not stay at this hotel again.
Would never recommend the place, so-called non-smoking room stinks of smoke, had to sleep with open windows in winter. Tag to get in at main entrance after hours didn't work, after 20 minutes of struggle 01h00 in the morning we call the Lodge, the so-called manager very unfit and tells us the door doesn't work well, then open the door with a screwdriver, still talking to him when he turned and walked, leaving the doors open just like that for me to close them again with a struggle. Bitterly disappointed! Will never recommend them again, management very unprofessional and incompetent!
It is a beautiful hotel, but unfortunately the room they gave me had way too much furniture. Would have been OK if I only stayed on night, but I stayed a few days and there wasn't enough space in the room. I mentioned to the owner that I missed a chair in my room so I could sit and read comfortably. At times I sat in the foyer, because there were beautiful, comfy couches and chairs. I recommend removing some of the bedside tables and add a chair to the room. I will definitely be back but next time I will ask for a more spacious room with a chair.
Small issue: one of the rooms has 3 single beds but the booking was 3 rooms with double beds.
Our stay was very tidy and clean with ample and secure parking. The pool area is beautiful where we could relax and the restaurant's meals were excellent. The main building in the lodge has an interesting historical theme. We will surely stay here again if we visit Citrusdal.
The management gave us a warm welcome and we could choose our own room. That was a highlight for me. The breakfast was really good. The braai area next to the swimming pool was lovely and we decided to enjoy our meal there. Thank you to the staff, management and the owner.

The name Citrusdal Country Lodge is misleading as it is located in the center of town, in the main road. The room was neat and clean and the staff helpful.
The toilet did not work. Bathrooms could be made more modern - specifically the shower - these days 80% of tourists shower and especially with our water crisis. A shower in the bath is so old fashioned and inconvenient especially for us older people. There are relaxation areas for outside, but with unpleasant characters and that's at the bar. As a result, you are stuck in the room all the time.
We had to carry our own luggage to the room on the first floor. The soundproofing between the rooms was so poor we could hear every word the neighbors were talking as well as their TV. The dinner was power and breakfast forgettable.

We've never had such a delicious meal as here. I love the old world effect the lodge offers, the staff are always friendly and helpful. Your chef know how to cook a steak! I can highly recommend the lodge and will be making use of them again.
We arrived on Sunday evening and were very unprofessionally received. No documents, just a key. The rooms were neat and clean. Revamped. We couldn't eat dinner there. The kitchen was closed and the options in town are very limited. Two places were recommended, but both of them were closed. Thanks, SPAR. The breakfast was abysmal. The bacon was floating in fat. The mince was full of lumps. A can of sweetcorn, cold meat and cheese was not top quality. The photo and the reality of what you get are worlds apart.
