The spacious lounge features a wood-burning fireplace and leads out through a glass door onto a patio which offers lovely views, and an outdoor area for outdoor living, ideal for when it rains. Guests are welcome to bring their own DStv decoders and smart cards for DStv access.
Guests have access to a fully fenced garden with lovely views of the surrounding mountains. Undercover parking is available for 2 cars to park right next to the house, as well as a secure gate to the property. The house is pet-friendly, however, the owners do request that pets are not allowed on the furniture or on the beds and that guests clean up after their pets before they leave to make the stay pleasant for the next guests.

Beautiful large house with everything one needs, really catered to keep you warm in those cold months and close to town and close to the hiking trails, will definitely recommend it and will be going back.
Positive: Well equipped kitchen. Fireplace and firewood. Enough space. Battery and "inverter" for load shedding. Negative: According to the description on the website, the house has 3 bathrooms, but there are only 2 bathrooms and a separate toilet.

The town is so very pleasant, the home we stayed in was as promised, calm, tranquil and convenient.
From our arrival, to our driving, was an experience! The house met all our expectations and so much more! Our rooms were wonderfully warm on arrival, warm bedding, electric blankets, fireplaces and so much more made the stay unforgettable.
The house is well furnished, we suggest storing extra clean linen and towels in cupboards.

We loved our stay at Clarens Valley Lodge. We were guided by clear instructions that made our arrival and check-in seamless. The house is spacious and perfect for a group stay. The dishwasher is such a bonus and adds to the comfort of the house. The garden is beautiful! Everything was just exactly what we needed. The location is perfect. The municipality had a water challenge and we were promptly notified by the lodge. Thank you for making our weekend and birthday celebrations everything we wanted it to be.
We were 2 families with children, the house is very well laid out with two main bedrooms, one on either side of the house, with a whole upper floor perfect for the children with their own lounge and tv.

Criticism we have. 1 - The fireplace in the dining room is not working as effectively as the one in the lounge, think the chimney is a bit blocked, so if they can sort that out that would be great. 2 - The wood provided is not the best, some pieces were a bit wet and they burned out very quickly, so suggest they get other hard wood that will burn longer and is dry. 3 - Would recommend that they put a garden hose outside by the faucet. I went for a bike ride on Saturday and got really muddy, so it was very difficult to get my bike clean without a garden hose. 4 - Upstairs bedroom, one bed's electric blanket didn't work, so they can just sort that out as it can get pretty cold in the evening.

Neat house and yard with everything you need from WiFi, DStv, washing machine to iron. Comfortable beds, good bedding. Up the mountain with the most beautiful views. Very quiet and private accommodation. Host was very friendly and helpful. 2 min drive to the square and restaurants. We stayed 4 days and were very impressed with the experience.
If you are looking for a spacious home away from home, with a number of people even including children, this is a great place to stay.
The accommodation and views are beautiful! It was comfortable for our family and spouses of 8, although the rooms are not very soundproof, in the lower rooms you can hear every step, scratch and rustle from the upper floor which becomes quite annoying over a long weekend stay but otherwise we had a great stay. The fireplaces in the living areas made it so pleasant and two bathrooms with enough hot water were just amazing! It really was just such a nice peaceful cozy getaway.

Stylish from the reception and arrangements, to the rest of the place. Everything in and around Clarens Valley Logde is stylish and beautiful. The whole time felt like it was our place, we felt at home. The way we were treated with respect and friendship.
If possible a built-in braai?
We really enjoyed the stay, beautiful place and neat and clean with full DStv and nice big TV. The house is very well furnished and we will stay there again if we go to Clarens.
We enjoyed the weekend. The large table and open kitchen created a very homely atmosphere. Very neat and safe and walking distance from town. Only downside is that there is no washing line - it created a problem when we washed laundry. Furthermore, no problem - really a pleasant lodge to stay - will definitely go again.

We couldn't believe how nice the place is. Heated floor under the dining room table was a privilege! nice fireplace and warm blankets kept the cold out. Again and again we will come to visit.
We thoroughly enjoyed our 3-night visit at Clarens Valley Lodge. The accommodation was neat, spacious, clean and fully equipped down to the last detail. If anything, the description on the website does not do it justice. By the end of our stay, we were certain that we will be back in Clarens and our accommodation of choice will definitely be Clarens Valley Lodge.
The house is very well equipped and is in a perfect position. The garden is beautiful and views of the mountains to the front and back of the house.
We had a great stay at Clarens Valley Lodge. I would like to recommend that you look at the mugs and glasses. There are quite a few that were cracked. Other than that, it was very enjoyable to be able to visit Clarens!

The house is in a very nice location and the view is beautiful. The house is nice and clean and we had a nice stay. I would only recommend watching the TV as it cuts out if you change channels. Other than that it was delicious!

Walking into the house you are hit with a strong smoky smell. The actual accommodation was amazing. Beds extremely comfortable, linen clean and all in all a good place except if you want to enjoy a fire on a cold night. The fireplace does not work properly (we have 2 similar fire places at home, so my husband knows how to use them) - the whole house is filled fairly quickly with the smoke that leaks from the fireplace and it made our jackets and clothes smell. Not the nicest experience. The previous reviewer also noted this defect and we had hoped it would have been rectified.
CVL is located on the outskirts of town but still an easy walk to the main town. The house is very spacious and a nice big garden for children to kick a ball in. It is not 'fancy' but ideal for a large group. The place needs some love and attention (reason for the 3 star for value for money). The main dining room has a nice big table for eating and playing games, but unfortunately the chairs are a bit stiff.
A lovely house with 2 fire places. However, staying there in winter is impossible. When we got there, there was a note in the one fire place to the effect that it is faulty and cannot be used. The other fire place smoked us out of the house. The guest toilets' toilet roll holder was broken and so was the hand towel hanger. The paper roll holder in the kitchen was also broken. The TV did not work when we got there and we had to get the TV company out to fix the problem. General upkeep of maintenance will go a long way in keeping the clients happy. The worst issue is the faulty fireplaces.
This house is perfect for large groups/families and the fact that I could take my animals with me makes it that much more suitable. Everything was nice and clean and comfortably furnished. The only bit of discomfort was the fireplace that left the house full of smoke but that's a problem that can be fixed. We will definitely use this accommodation again in Clarens.

Clarens Valley Lodge is a beautiful getaway for a weekend and comfortably accommodates 6 people. Very convenient and they provide everything you need for self catering. The electric blankets saved our lives in the cold! Thank you very much for the wonderful weekend away with the family, that's just what we needed!

It is a very nice and spacious house with plenty of sleeping space but only has toilet and shower facilities on the lower floor. So it is not ideal for more than 4 adults. The upper rooms are for children and there are no doors for the upper rooms either. The kitchen is very well equipped but there are small things in the house that need attention.
What a lovely place to break away for a weekend, a real house between the mountains with open space for children to run around and it is very well-equipped. We enjoyed it very much. Thank you that you shared it with us.
