We were a group of 15 people, parents with teenagers and younger children, and everyone was happy. There was enough space for us to be together, but also apart. It was lovely by the river, and the jacuzzis were a winner. There was everything we needed.
The place was very neat. The air conditioning was handy with the heat in Velddrif.

The accommodation at Cloeteskraal Chalets met our needs for what we needed it for. A place to sleep while we explore Velddrif. The ablution and kitchen are very comfortable, clean and have everything you need. However, the caravan itself is very "busy" with ornaments, decorations and a colorful color scheme. You have to be careful when you put something down to find it again. We slept well and the air-con helped us out of a hot jam. Grateful for that. The "bath" we did not use and represents an easier form of shelter and access.
Received us very kindly and was very helpful. Chalets are very nice and tidy and the air conditioning was awesome for the hot days.
Great place to relax, but I was disappointed when we noticed all the reeds in front of the house, which prevented us from being able to fish.

It was quite fine and all, but it is just the cleanliness of the jacuzzi; they only clean it when you book in.
The place itself in theory has a lot of potential. Its location is really serene on the river banks with an actual hot tub and not the waste of time wood-fired one. An actual one. Unfortunately, when we got there, the place was very dirty and was clearly not cleaned before we arrived. There were spider webs between the bedding and walls, and the bathroom was mouldy. The toilet had stains in it, and when I walked out the sliding door to the hot tub, I was greeted by webs in my face and hair. There were also very unfriendly signs up about having to clean the chalet before you leave. Who wants to do dishes and clean when on holiday? They said we can contact them if we need assistance, but there was no signal or WiFi available, so we could not really get through to report the uncleanliness. The beds and pillows were also quite uncomfortable. To top off the experience, there were very rowdy guests in the chalet next to mine that kept us and our baby up till 11:30 pm. Overall not a great experience.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The chalet was clean and tidy and extremely well supplied with cutlery/crockery and all the extras. The jacuzzi was put on for us prior to our arrival, so it was nice and warm by the time we arrived. It was peaceful and tranquil.
We really enjoyed our stay at Cloeteskraal, a hidden gem, thank you Diane for making our stay as pleasant as possible. maybe a suggestion to hire out boats/canoeing will help increase revenue for you guys but other than that it's a perfect place and will definitely be back soon. love Cloeteskraal Chalets.

We had a great stay, the owners really thought of almost everything to make it comfortable for us, except for one chalet's jacuzzi's temperature was so high that it could not be used. The owners should also perhaps think about a swimming pool and WiFi.
Just had a problem with the network. I would recommend WiFi.
One or two items to mention that are intended as constructive criticism but didn't really impact our stay very much. The main jetty requires some attention - it is very slippery when wet and many of the aluminum boards are loose and have sharp edges. The temperature of the hot tubs at some of the units was set too high and you're unable to access the thermostat to adjust it.
I enjoyed the river very much.
Fantastic location. I just think there is a lot more potential. For example, to cut open each cottage's jetties and make a path down to the jetties. The last jetty on the point is a bit dangerous for bare feet. More lawn. The houses are a bit incomplete with basic things. I feel there should be black bags, towel roll, decent washcloths, Handy Andy, coffee, tea, sugar and milk. Enough toilet paper. The bathroom mats are not so nice, a bit old. Cleanliness is just as important outside as inside. I killed a few button spiders under the wooden benches.
The owners of the getaway farm have thought of everything. From insecticide to emergency lighting if Eskom is struggling. I have never experienced such a clean glamping accommodation. Everything works. Wow, most beautiful view of the famous Bergrivier. My son and I really enjoyed the weekend. Thank you very much for the complimentary jam. Well done!

The house is very tidy with everything you will need. The jacuzzi is clean and works 100%. The view is something special. It's quiet, beautiful, child-friendly and definitely a place to visit.
We were about 10 men. The men can't stop talking about my big meeting place Cloeteskraal. The chalets are very neat. We intend to go again at the end of November.

If you are looking for tranquility in nature, Cloeteskraal Chalets is the place. With friends or family just to break away from the rat race. The units are equipped with everything you need and are very tidy. I would definitely recommend it.

We had a nice weekend and my wife and kids enjoyed them. They had a lot of fun playing games and the jacuzzi was tops.
The house is very well equipped, we didn't want anything more. The hot tub on the veranda was a wonderful relaxation and the indoor barbecue a big bonus. The silence of very little cell phone reception and very few TV channels was bliss with the rippling of the river in your ears. Finally, the two jars of jam were such a nice touch. We will definitely visit again.
Chalet was neat and owners definitely put in some extra effort to make the stay remarkable.

We stayed for 2 nights in the glampervan with attached kitchen and bathroom, and absolutely everything was perfect. From the most pleasant host Gerhard, to the quirky decor and air-con inside the caravan that was a God-send, this really was the perfect getaway for the 3 of us (hubby, myself and teen son). Everything a guest could need or want was thought of and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!

They have thought of everything because everything is there for you. You just take off your shoes, throw in the fishing line and you relax all weekend. Very impressed with the cleanliness of the caravan, kitchen and bathroom. Maybe could have cut the grass a little earlier but it didn't hurt our weekend at all. Would also suggest a UV insecticide as the mosquitoes and biting flies are many. It was our first time at Cloeteskraal but it will definitely not be our last.
Just right for a cozy river walk. Not big, but comfortable and clean. The indoor barbecue was a winner, air conditioning and the Jacuzzi on the veranda. Wonderfully quiet and peaceful and a big catfish was caught.
No. 4's "bar chairs" are almost as high as the table counter, it's uncomfortable to sit and eat. It needs lower chairs. The jacuzzi was lovely, on the veranda is sheltered from the wind. The grass outside is a bit long. A nice place with a nice view of the river. Ideal for people who want tranquility. The interior is equipped with the necessary. Luckily we packed camping chairs to sit at the barbecue area. It's great that one can stay up to 3 hours. Nice and private.
Lovely peaceful location. Everything comfortable and available in the accommodation. When we got there the jacuzzi was already on and warm. Easy to reach accommodation and a sweet little gift from hosts. Will be back soon.

All the decor is very beautiful and the house is very cosy. We watched the sunrise the first morning when we woke up and it was breathtaking! The jacuzzi is a plus and we really enjoyed it. The fire burned inside all weekend and kept the house nice and warm. There is everything one needs inside the place. We feel rested! The 15:00 check-out time is also a big bonus, where at other places you have to be out by 11:00 at the latest. Thank you very much for a nice weekend.

Was a great weekend of just resting in peace without a noise and enough space for kids to just run and play. Only suggestion would be that the reeds in front of the fishing area should be cut a bit. Is a bit difficult for fishing.

We enjoyed swimming, taking the boat down to Velddrif for brekkie, skiing, fishing and sundowners on the river. Such a lovely weekend away on a quiet part of the river.
Our hearts can never hold it when it's time to go home, we feel like we're floating when we get to Cloetskraal. Many thanks to the friendly and very helpful owners.

This was a much needed weekend and was really ideal due to the isolation and tranquility. Nr 2 was very noisy but they needed their own type of fun. Nr 1 was flying a drone which on a personal level I have a problem with but everyone appeared to be enjoying their stay. The custodians/owners were prompt to deal with any issues. Everything was on hand. Remember to read the finer print on the invoice. During Covid time: no bedding. This is understandable and acceptable. I would go back in a heartbeat.
It is a very nice place on the river bank. Had a good summer fishing. The Jacuzzi was a hit. Also nicely grilled inside the house which made it nice and warm. We will definitely go back again.

Jacuzzi was a little too hot for the hot days in Velddrif. An inquiry was made as to whether temperature could be adjusted, but no feedback was received. Will be lovely in the winter. Nice neat and clean place, but was shocked that cleaning is your responsibility, even washing the dishes. If you do not clean, fees are deducted from deposit.

The house was very neat. The hot Jacuzzi when we arrived was so welcome in the cold weather. The kids sat by the river for hours to catch a fish which kept them from their cell phones. It was absolutely wonderful and we were able to relax.

So much beauty right under our noses. Cloeteskraal Chalets is everything I hoped to get out of the weekend. It's a very neat place. The view is beautiful and the facilities lack nothing. I really recommend it.
The cottage is small but comfortable with everything you need. Can sit on the porch for days. Very nice and comfortable!
Was a real gem. Far from everything although close enough to the town that getting there is not a far ride. The bird life is incredible and sitting in a Jacuzzi drinking champagne, watching the full moon rise over the river will be a memory that will last through many stressful meetings. Although the kitchen was small, it was functional and, anyway, you spend most of the time outdoors.
Had a great weekend with another couple. Perfect place to switch off and relax. We swam in the river, had a nice braai and of course the Jacuzzi on the porch (with the most beautiful view of the river) is a winner. We will definitely go again.

We had an absolutely wonderful time at Cloeteskraal and would definitely recommend it. Diane is so kind and considerate and went out of her way to make sure the Jacuzzi was nice and warm when we arrived. There is only a little bit of maintenance that could be done on the unit we stayed in (for example, nails sticking out on the porch area and therefore not ideal for bare little feet) and the mattress in the master bedroom is a little tired for life, but these are only small things that will be easily corrected with time and did not hinder our getaway in any way. A suggestion would also be to perhaps include a bag or two of wood in the accommodation price and have it ready when guests arrive, as the destination is very far from the nearest shop. We will definitely visit Cloeteskraal again and also recommend it to friends and family.

The unit was neat and clean. There are a few things missing in the kitchen, such as a measuring cup, and you just have to know ahead of time that there is no coffee, tea or sugar. The Jacuzzi was deliciously hot on arrival and clean and the hostess made us feel very welcome. Would really recommend the place!
Lovely setting, especially if you have a boat. The river is sheltered and perfect venue for skiing. The chalets have all you need with inside and outside braai's and the Jacuzzi is a nice extra.
We would have appreciated a personal welcoming from the owner, because that way you get better information, for example about where to walk on the farm. The cut grass in front of the cottage made us feel like they were expecting us. The Jacuzzi op the porch was on when we arrived on Sunday, but the wind was ice cold. Great relaxing place, nature all around. I would suggest getting a little boat or canoe for the river. Jacuzzi is what really got us. The night sky is amazing as it is away from city. Nature comes in to the home so don't be alarmed for baboon spiders as their food is the bugs around. But all in all, I'll definitely be coming again.

The chalets are neat and well equipped, lighting was not enough outside by the braai at night. Bring stuff for mosquitoes, horseflies and midges. The area is clean and you can only see and hear nature.
We visited Cloeteskraal Chalets for a girls weekend. The chalets are very well equipped and we had everything we needed. Bedding and towels were supplied and very comfortable. Jacuzzi was amazing. We had an amazing time, thank you!

We were 3 families with small children who rented the 3 chalets for the weekend. The cottages are separate enough to have privacy but close enough to visit kiddies again and again. The Jacuzzi was the highlight for the children. The pool is a further away, so we did not really swim. The men fished from the lawn in front of the chalets. At one stage there were a lot of insects or something that passed through, but that's nature. The wind luckily blew them away later. Had a great weekend. Will definitely visit there again! Wonderful, quiet in nature.

A fantastic getaway destination for a totally relaxing time.
The place is definitely very peaceful. The pictures that are on the internet are not exactly what we got. It is advertised that there is a swimming pool under a canopy with play area etc. But the pool was no longer there at all. The Jacuzzi was nice, but there are hopelessly too many bag spiders. If they could just keep their hands on the houses it would be much better.
The cottage is very tidy inside with DStv and an indoor braai. If it weren't for that, we wouldn't be able to function at all. Upon arrival we were greeted by hordes of biting flies and with a 2 year old this is a disaster waiting to happen. I understand it's part of nature, but surely there are ways to try to reduce it. The owner's opinion is that sometimes they are there, sometimes not. It would be appreciated if it could be mentioned on the advertisement for future guests. We could not use the Jacuzzi at all, except to also use it as a "death trap" for the biting flies. We will definitely not be returning to this place again.

At first we were skeptical about privacy because houses are close together, but it was wonderful with the tranquility. Definitely a West Coast gem and owners should look into 4x4 trail and camping sites on farm. We will be back soon with friends and family.

We enjoyed the silence, the accommodation excellent, enjoyed our holes in the Jacuzzi, fishing was the highlight for me with the laaities, if you want to get away from the city Cloete Chalets is the place.

So lovely to be able to sit in the Jacuzzi every eve from where we could watch the river and birds. The trumpet flies are somewhat annoying when you lie in the sun, but not too much so as to spoil your vacation!
Perfect getaway from the busy city. Accommodation was neat, clean and had everything you needed. On some photos the units don't look private, but there are walls between the units that completely separate you from the neighbours. Perfect place to relax in the Jacuzzi and lie on the grass at night and watch the stars. Thank you Cloeteskraal, we will definitely come again.
A really great place to stay if you are looking for some peace and quiet and great scenery. Maybe some covered parking and an outside light at the back of house would be great as it would help coming back late at night.
The chalets are clean and value for money. We will most definitely return for a getaway but without our kids.The pool was unkept and dirty so the children could not swim and had to dip in the Jacuzzi. I have to say a very nice place if you are looking for an escape.
What an amazing relaxing place to stay. Was an awesome breakaway from city life. Love the Jacuzzi and the fact that the place was super clean. The weekend we went was a bit windy. We loved that there was an indoor braai and we had the option of an outdoor braai area if the weather had permitted. Really nice for a couple as well as a family.

We had a great time. Very peaceful and wonderful view of the river. The house is very nice, well equipped and I'm glad the TV is so small ─ children could entertain themselves with other things. All negative thing I can mention is that although we were told by LekkeSlaap that our check-out time is 15:00, the owner asked us to be out by 10:00 because there would still be people coming in.

Very comfortable living with end of day Jacuzzi. The river is fantastic for fishing and boating. Loved the boat ride all the way down to Port Owen.

We had a good barbecue. Delicious fat herders caught with cast net. Our daughter caught a leatherfish but released it. Boat ride down the river and next day up the river. We rested and slept wonderfully. Until the children rested and slept. Stayed until the last minute. Will do it again. Thank you very much Cloeteskraal.
We had a wonderful stay at Cloeteskraal. The setting is stunning and the chalet was spotless and serves all you needs. The indoor braai was a winner on the chilling winter evenings. We will be back.

This is a great getaway. Was very peaceful as we were the only people there.
We will definitely book again. The houses are a bit too close to each other and the trees/bush in between may not be sufficient in certain cases. Didn't find any umbrella for front lawn. It would also be nice if the river was more accessible, especially in the summer months. At the moment it may still be dangerous because the current is strong.

Very cute place. Very neat and clean. Would recommend people to stay there.
The indoor braai is so cozy and the aircon. Everything is available in kitchen. Nice and private. We went to restaurant and pub in Laaiplek for breakfast at Die Mond the food is delicious. Spar 15 km away, the chalets are wonderful! Take fishing gear with. We will definitely go again. The owners are very nice.

This was sufficient as our time for searching for accommodation was limited. We enjoyed the silence. A small freezer and better outside lighting especially at the outside barbecue should be looked into, please. An extra shower and separate toilet is highly recommended as the house can accommodate such a large group of people. The flies were just a problem and we were all bitten horribly by something in the house. We are still reeling from the result.
We wanted to stay by the river with the pool to watch the birds. Have no idea about the names of the units and then booked the "House in the Forest" where you can't even see the river at all. It is an old stable that they converted into a residential unit. The outside "pool" and grass were not cut at all and very unkempt. We then asked the owner if she could move us to one of the river units which at that moment had no people in them. They would only get people in at the weekend when we would be gone, but the owner didn't want to know anything. Everywhere on the walls there are hundreds of rules of what one may and may not do.
We really enjoyed it, DStv would be nice!

It is a good place to rest if you don't want to anything, but it is also near enough to visit places of interest in the area. It was nice and clean, and a safe place to stay. We enjoyed it very much.
